Chapter 5

I lived in the house my grandmother left behind. After she passed away, the house had been empty.

There were too many traces of my childhood memories with my grandmother here.

At least, there was nothing that made me feel the despair Levi did.

I had just started the car when Levi suddenly chased after me.

He placed his hand on my car window and asked when I would move back.

At that moment, Luna also chased out, but she was chasing Levi.

"Ouch, Levi, I twisted my ankle. It's all your fault for running out so suddenly..."

Levi frowned, then let go and walked towards Luna.

I let out a cold laugh, closed the car window, and drove away.

A few days later, Levi called me, saying his mom was sick and asked me to come see her.

After work that evening, I drove to the Garcia residence.

As soon as I entered, I saw Levi's parents happily playing with my daughter.

My daughter was being held by Luna, who was peeling a jelly to feed her.

Levi sat on the other side, his hand gently stroking her head.

What a warm and loving family they seemed, while I, the biological mother, was like an outsider!

I walked over, snatched the jelly from my daughter's hand, and pulled her into my arms.

"Kids can't eat whole jellies. Don't you have any common sense?" I said.

Luna looked a bit embarrassed and immediately gazed at me with an aggrieved expression.

"Sorry, Miss Moore, I really didn't know..." Luna said, apologetically.

Levi glared at me unhappily and said coldly.

"Enough, it's just a small thing. No need to make a fuss!"

I looked at Levi's mother, Jane, who was happily eating fruit on the sofa.

"Wasn't it said that mom was sick? She looks fine to me," I said.

Luna immediately chimed in.

"Sick? No, Miss Moore, you must have misheard. Auntie is in great health."

Upon hearing what I said, Jane immediately put on an unpleasant expression.

"What do you mean by that? Are you hoping every day that I'll get sick?" she snapped.

Chapter 6

I knew that Levi's parents never liked me from the beginning.

Over the years, although I eventually ended up with Levi.

His family never truly accepted me.

After all, the Garcia family was wealthy, and I was just an orphan who grew up with my grandmother.

I endured the Garcia family for ten years. Now, I didn't have to endure anymore.

I looked coldly at Levi and Luna, who were singing the same tune, a perfect couple.

"Didn't you tell me your mom was sick and wanted me to come? Your mom isn't sick, it's you and your mistress who are sick," I said.

Over the years, I had gotten used to enduring. Perhaps Luna had never seen me so tough.

She was immediately frightened and looked at Levi in bewilderment.

Levi immediately spoke up to defend Luna.

"Emma, what's wrong with you? How long has it been since you came to see Mom? As a daughter-in-law, shouldn't you come to see her?" he said.

I let out a cold laugh.

"Is it that I don't want to see Mom, or that your mom never liked me? Ask her if she wants me to come," I said.

The Garcia family had never liked me, and Levi knew it.

I guessed he wanted to show filial piety in front of his parents this time.

Yes, outsourcing filial piety to his daughter-in-law, this hypocritical man!

Levi was at a loss for words, and Luna couldn't wait to interrupt.

"Oh, Miss Moore, isn't it right for you to come see them?" said Luna.

Levi might have always thought he hadn't been a caring father.

And he thought I, who hadn't been to the old residence for months, didn't care about our daughter either.

But he never knew that I went to the kindergarten to see our daughter every day before and after work.

Even though they had a driver to pick her up, I never missed a day.

So, when he asked about our daughter, it wasn't that I didn't know.

I simply didn't bother to answer him!

And now, even that mistress had the nerve to tell me what to do?

I looked at Luna coldly, full of mockery.

"Luna, I don't care if you pick up the man I don't want, but don't interfere with my daughter, or I don't know what I might do!" I said.

Luna's expression immediately changed when I scolded her as a mistress.

She looked at Levi with eyes full of grievance and a plea for help.

Levi looked at me with a cold expression.

"Emma, speak nicely to Luna. After all, she's been with me for many years!" he said.

"If she's been with you for so many years, why didn't you wait to marry her? Why marry me?" I said.

After saying that, I turned and was about to leave.

Levi's stern shout came from behind me.

"Did I say you could leave?!" he yelled.

I didn't turn back and laughed coldly.

"What, do I need your permission to go somewhere?" I said.

Maybe my recent attitude changes were too much for Levi to handle.

There was a moment of silent tension in the air. I knew this was a sign of Levi's impending outburst.

Sure enough, the next second, Levi grabbed my arm, glaring at me furiously.

"Apologize to my mom and Luna! Or else, I won't be polite!" he demanded.

Relying on his physical strength, Levi actually tried to forcibly push me to the ground!

I was immediately furious. I gritted my teeth and slapped Levi across the face!
