Chapter 1

My husband gave me a claw machine on my birthday and I loved it.

It was placed next to the dressing table in the bedroom and became our daily toy.

Until the eve of his birthday, he was in great spirits and took my hand, wanting me to lie on the claw machine.

The realistic dolls stared at me with sharp eyes, and one of them even seemed to roll its eyeballs.

I suddenly felt extremely unwell.

"Husband, don't be here..."

But he begged me to play with him again, as a birthday present.

The next day, my best friend abroad suddenly sent me a video.

I was so upset that I smashed the claw machine at home and took out all the dolls inside.

"Attorney Grant, I'm filing for divorce! Please call the police for me!"

Vincent Foster was returning home from shopping when he happened to hear my last sentence.

He looked at the mess on the floor and the scissors in my hand, and was so shocked that he dropped all the seafood on the floor:

"Honey, what's going on? Is our house robbed? Are you okay?"

"If anything goes wrong, we'll get divorced!"

He was stunned for a second, completely ignoring the doll on the ground, and hugged me forcefully in his arms, checking me from head to toe.

Thinking of that video, I was so angry that my whole body trembled. I slapped him hard in the face and shouted hysterically:

"Get out! Don't touch me!"

The relatives and friends who were invited by Vincent to celebrate his birthday were shocked when they saw me slapping him as soon as they entered the door.

Someone joked with us:

"Oh my god, beating is love, scolding is affection. Did my sister-in-law know that we planned to celebrate Vincent's birthday together and she's going to feed us dog food?"

Although my parents-in-law looked unhappy, they suppressed their dissatisfaction because of the good relationship between Vincent and I.

Everyone urged me and Vincent to give them a French kiss to calm them down.

When Vincent came closer, I slapped him in the face again and said something shocking:

"Vincent, are you deaf? I said I want a divorce!"

The living room suddenly became silent.

Vincent's face changed drastically, thinking that something had really happened to me, and he immediately called the police.

Only then did everyone realize that something was wrong and they all started to care about me.

Family stains stayed behind closed doors. I suppressed my anger, turned around and frantically slashed open the stuffed animals.

A strange look flashed across Vincent's face, and he grabbed my wrist.

"Wife, what's wrong with you? Why are you getting a divorce? And why are you taking it out on these dolls?"

I broke free from his hand and said word by word:

"Because of these dolls!"

I took apart another doll with the scissors, but didn't find what I wanted.

Instead, Vincent got his hand cut by the scissors because he tried to stop me.

He covered the back of his hand dripping with blood, completely losing his patience:

"Eleanor Vance, are you crazy? I designed and sewed these dolls for you, and you're just going to destroy them? This is the birthday surprise you told me about?"

I ignored his injured hand and handed him the printed divorce petition sent by Attorney Grant:

"You call this a token of your affection, so this is all I can give you!"

Seeing that I was serious, before he could say anything, Margaret Foster couldn't help herself any longer and slapped me on behalf of Vincent:

"Eleanor, today is my son's birthday, and you're going to surprise him like this?"

This slap was somewhat personal, and warm liquid instantly flowed out of my nostrils.

My mother ignored me and came forward to pull me:

"Look at what you've done! Apologize to Vincent right now!"

I was filled with grievances but had nowhere to express them, so I covered my nose and mumbled:

Chapter 2

"Mom, don't worry about it. Vincent should have thought this day would come sooner or later if he dared to give me these dolls!"

When everyone understood the reason, the way they looked at me changed, and they all accused me of being too dramatic.

"Just because of a claw machine? Because of these dolls?"

I nodded.

I know it's really outrageous to get a divorce over a claw machine.

But they don’t know that these dolls are not ordinary dolls at all!

Margaret tore up the indictment, pointed at my nose and cursed:

"You're such a jerk! My son holds you in his arms like a treasure, how dare you treat him like this? What right do you have to file for a divorce? Do you deserve it?"

"Eleanor, after ten years with no child, you should be grateful Vincent hasn't replaced you!"

Vincent stood by and watched me being beaten and scolded, his expression gradually changing from anger to helplessness.

There was even a hint of indulgent wry smile, as if he was looking at a unreasonable child.

He sighed and took a tissue to clean my nosebleed:

"Honey, have you been under too much pressure lately because of preparing for pregnancy? It's all my fault. I shouldn't have gotten you an eyesore with a lifelike doll..."

I took a step back to avoid his hand:

"Don't touch me. If you really feel sorry for me, just sign the postnup with zero settlement and then turn yourself in!"

Vincent's face froze slightly, but soon returned to its gentle and helpless expression:

"Wife, what are you talking about? Just because you don't like the gift I gave you that much, do I feel guilty?"

"I'm not kidding. You still have a chance to turn yourself in before the police arrive."

Everyone's eyes widened, looking at me as if I were a psychopath:

"Police? You called the police just because of a claw machine?"

My father couldn't believe it. He was so embarrassed that he slapped the other half of my face without hesitation.

"Nonsense! If you ask me, it's because Vincent loves you too much that he's spoiled you into this ignorant and insolent person!"

"Your mother has been married to me for decades, and I've never even accepted a single rose from her, nor have I ever seen her make a scene! And yet you actually dared to let Vincent sign the postnup with zero settlement? Where do you get the nerve to do that?"

With someone's support, Vincent's expression finally changed.

He stared at me intently, the smile on his lips disappearing little by little:

"Eleanor, are you sure you want to make such a scene?"

I didn't answer, but held the scissors tightly and continued to take the doll apart.

The police arrived faster than I expected.

"Who called the police?"

Everyone looked at me with dissatisfaction.

The leading policeman looked around and his eyes fell on me.

Vincent spoke first:

"Comrade police officer, it's me! Sorry to bother you. I called the police impulsively because I thought my house was burglarized. Now I've figured out it was all a misunderstanding. I'm sorry you came here for nothing!"

Sure enough, Vincent did not surrender himself.

I no longer had any illusions about him and stepped forward to stop the police:

"I've called the police too! These dolls have a hidden meaning. They'll stare at you no matter how you arrange them!"

Vincent sighed and explained to the police helplessly:

"My wife is under so much pressure to get pregnant that it's inevitable that we'll have some arguments..."

He picked up another doll from the ground and smiled at me warmly:

"Wife, this is the mystery you mentioned."

He turned the doll's head, and the glass eyes indeed flickered as the angle changed.

"This is a patent I designed specifically for you. It just hasn't been released yet. Look, the doll's eyes can automatically lock onto your position and then rotate 360 degrees."

He looked at me affectionately and continued gently:

Chapter 3

"My original intention for designing this is that when I'm not at home, they will be with you all the time, just like me."

Everyone sighed in sudden enlightenment.

"After all this, it's Vincent who's crazy about love, but some people are blind to his feelings and are making a big deal out of it, calling for a divorce!"

The police looked at the patent application documents that Vincent had produced, and their expressions softened.

"Ms. Vincent, this is indeed a patented doll your husband designed for you. It's very unique! Look, he even named the patent Vincent & Eleanor, which shows how much he loves you!"

"That's not true!"

My voice trembled with anxiety:

"They are definitely not as simple as Vincent said!"

I grabbed a doll and handed it to the police, then showed them the video my bestie sent me:

"Check them out! These dolls are definitely not normal! They might have some high-tech stuff..."

The leading police officer immediately became serious.

He took the doll and exchanged glances with his colleagues.

The technicians arrived quickly, took out professional equipment and began to inspect carefully.

I watched their movements closely, my heart beating so fast that it almost burst out of my chest.

Vincent stood aside, his expression terrifyingly calm.

I suddenly had a bad feeling.

Half an hour later, after the police had checked all the dolls, they solemnly told me:

"We checked all the dolls and found nothing unusual, including your bedroom. We checked there too and there was nothing wrong."

"impossible!"

I took out the video again and shouted:

"The perspective is these dolls! There's no mistake! Please take a closer look!"

Considering my privacy, the police called Vincent to the bedroom for questioning.

"Mr. Foster, how do you explain this video?"

Vincent came over and took a closer look at the video on my phone. Suddenly, his face turned as red as a boiled shrimp.

"Wife, when did you take this intimate video of us?"

"Did you smash the claw machine in anger because I let myself go yesterday?"

I didn't expect that he would turn the tables.

"This was obviously taken by you! Are you too bold to admit it?"

He took out a camera and explained to the police in a low voice:

"Comrade police officer, I never thought my wife would actually secretly film this. I won't go into detail about the fun we have as husband and wife."

The way his face was red all the way to his neck, coupled with the fact that he took out our old chat records, made the police believe it a little.

I turned pale instantly.

A year ago, after our daughter died in the womb when we were seven months pregnant, Vincent suggested that we continue to record our lives as a memorial.

And I agreed decisively.

But the recording of life at that time was a pure record in an open and aboveboard manner.

It was just because I was weak after the miscarriage, so most of the photos he showed to the police were of me lying in bed.

Could it be that, a year ago, he had already...

Just then, my bestie sent me another link.

I opened the camera and saw that the photos had been turned into obscene animated GIFs by AI and posted online for people to enjoy. I was so angry.

I was about to save the photos as evidence when the website went blank.

I didn’t dare to think about the consequences of my photos and videos being circulated outside, so I hurriedly told the police that my photos and videos had been circulated wildly on the dark web abroad.

The police immediately checked the external website I mentioned, but found that the website could not be opened at all.

I couldn't help but be stunned. Just now I was able to click on it and see all kinds of indecent photos and videos of women. How come it suddenly became a blank webpage and now I can't open it again?
