Chapter 1

After my daughter passed away, a man claiming to be my husband's boyfriend showed up and caused a scene at the funeral.

He called himself the "real partner" and accused me of being the "mistress" who ruined their relationship.

"Ivan Scott and I are the real couple! You're just the one who came between us!"

"He only married you because he had no choice and needed someone to have a child with. Now that the child is gone, you should get a divorce right now!"

In the middle of the argument, a priceless antique painting worth over a hundred million dollars went up in flames.

Watching the chaos, I hid my anger with a cold smile.

True love?

Let's see just how much the “star-crossed lovers” really care about each other!

——

My daughter succumbed to illness, leaving me in a state of utter despair as I sat before the mourning hall, sobbing uncontrollably.

The guests who came were all steeped in grief.

My husband, who was supposed to attend the funeral, was too entangled in work commitments to be present.

In my desperation, I reached for the phone to call him, but my fingers slipped and opened an app instead. The man who appeared in the video was hauntingly familiar.

Isn't that Ivan's childhood friend from his time studying abroad?

Though we had never met, our house was adorned with countless photos of the two, chronicling their journey from innocence to maturity, from elementary school to graduation, encompassing nearly all of Ivan's early life.

Driven by concern and inexplicable curiosity, I found myself drawn into the livestream.

The man on the screen, whose voice choked with emotion, was tearfully denouncing an affair, claiming that the homewrecker's daughter had just passed away and that he was poised to catch her in the act!

“Friends, my boyfriend has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on his mistress and even married her secretly. I was completely blindsided until today!”

“Now that the mistress’s daughter has died, it’s just karma! The universe sees everything—mistresses always get their comeuppance!”

“I’ve found out where she’s holding the funeral for her daughter. When I get there, I’m going to wreck the place. Her daughter doesn’t deserve any respect!”

With the revelation of Ethan Colin's identity as a gay man and the scandal of infidelity, the livestream quickly surged to over a hundred thousand viewers.

I was stunned by the dramatic turn of events surrounding Ethan Colin.

What shocked me even more was discovering his sexuality.

It appeared that his boyfriend might be a deceitful gay man, though I would hold off on judging the truth of the situation.

I resolved to reach out to Ivan without delay. As for Ethan’s situation, I planned to address it only after settling our daughter’s affairs.

Unfortunately, Ivan’s phone remained persistently unreachable.

I tried to stay patient, knowing that the time was drawing near and that it couldn't delay the scheduled burial.

I turned off my phone and followed the funeral director’s instructions to prepare my daughter for her final rest.

Just as I finished arranging her hair and was about to take another look, a loud commotion broke out outside.

Before I could even step out to see what was happening, I was suddenly pushed to the ground.

Blinding lights were shining directly in my face before I could react.

Ethan’s voice was sharp, and his eyes were filled with malice.

“Friends, this is the woman who’s been having an affair with my boyfriend! Take a good look at her—don’t hesitate to confront her if you see her again!”

“People like this need to be taught a lesson! I can’t imagine what kind of family raised someone so shameless. Are you pleased with yourself for stealing someone else’s boyfriend?”

Ignoring the pain in my scratched palms, I frowned in confusion.

“You must have the wrong person. I’m already married. This is my daughter’s funeral—please leave, or I won’t be so polite!”

Ethan sneered and taunted, “Affairs are something. Even when faced with such a tragedy, you remain so composed! Should we show her what’s what, everyone?”

He shoved his phone in my face and said, “Your daughter’s death is just the consequence of your affair. She didn’t deserve to live!”

I struggled to get up, burning with anger but trying to stay calm.

“If you say one more word like that, I’ll call the police. My daughter isn’t someone you can defame without proof!”

Ethan let out a derisive snort, pulling out another phone and opening the photo gallery. He raised it high for everyone to see.

“Look at this—these are the bills my boyfriend paid for you! Hundreds of thousands of dollars. What’s your excuse now?”

“You used my boyfriend’s money! You schemed to get pregnant by him and then forced him into marriage!”

When I didn’t answer, he flipped through more photos.

“These are pictures of me with my boyfriend. We were together for nine years. You took advantage of my time abroad to get involved with him. If I hadn’t come back and seen his phone, I’d still be clueless!”

As I stared at the intimate photos on the screen, my frown grew deeper.

I couldn’t believe that the boyfriend Ethan was talking about was my husband of five years, Ivan Scott!

The payment bills were genuine, but he used a supplementary card that I had given him.

Suddenly, everything fell into place.

It made sense why he’d been making excuses to skip our daughter’s funeral and why he hadn’t taken her to the hospital when she was sick.

Ivan was nothing more than a freeloader. My father had left all of his inheritance to my daughter, Sophia, specifically to prevent Ivan from taking it.

With Sophia’s death, however, things started to look even more suspicious.

Ivan’s monthly salary was only 1,000 dollars, and the rest of his expenses were covered by my supplementary card. I never imagined he would use that card to manipulate the situation!

Seeing my shocked expression, Ethan smirked and said, “So, no more excuses? Either pay up, or I’ll have you arrested!”

He then held up several screenshots from his phone for the livestream audience, sounding self-righteous.

“Friends, I know that gay relationships aren’t always accepted, but that doesn’t justify her interfering in other people’s relationships!”

His voice grew more intense.

“Pay me back immediately, or I’ll make sure you regret it!”

Chapter 2

Today wasn’t just our family’s funeral; many others were holding their own services, drawing a crowd of onlookers.

Some took the chance to criticize.

“Even if a relationship between two men is surprising, this woman is no better!”

“Why mess with other people’s lives at such a young age? Doesn’t she care about the disgrace?”

Seeing the crowd’s reaction, Ethan seemed even more pleased. “You’d better pay up and sign the divorce papers quickly, or things will get a lot worse for you.”

I replied icily, “You should stop right there. I didn’t know about you before my marriage. If anyone’s suffering, it’s me!”

“I’ve been deceived for five years, living as a wife and raising our daughter, only to discover that the so-called love was nothing but a lie!”

The crowd watched in shock.

Ethan’s face contorted with disdain. “You’re the one who chased after this marriage. If you hadn’t been so insistent, Ivan wouldn’t have married you.”

“That’s a lie!” I countered sharply. “It was Ivan who begged me to marry him!”

His expression darkened with jealousy and fury. “You’re lying!”

In a fit of rage, he seized a wine bottle and threw it at me.

The glass shattered, sending a cascade of red wine over my expensive designer gown. Had I not reacted swiftly, the bottle might have struck me on the head.

I took several deep breaths, fighting to control my mounting anger.

Ethan, still relentless, continued to rant, “Look at this! This woman’s trying to twist everything around!”

“She’s got some nerve, ruining other people’s lives and then playing the victim!”

“Everything she’s wearing, including the clothes and the accessories, was all bought with my boyfriend’s money! She owes me 100 thousand dollars-every last cent!”

I was livid, my face burning with anger.

“Pay you back? I spent my own money, not yours. Why should I owe you anything? If you keep this up, I’m calling the police!”

Ethan’s face twisted into a dramatic sneer.

“Oh, she’s threatening to call the cops. How scary!”

“Let’s see who ends up in trouble!”

“If you don’t pay up today, you can forget about having your daughter’s funeral.”

He signaled to his crew, who quickly grabbed chairs and started smashing everything in sight.

Priceless antique paintings worth hundreds of thousands of dollars were thrown into the flames.

Guests scrambled for cover as the funeral turned into utter chaos.

Ignoring the mayhem around me, I desperately crawled toward my daughter’s urn.

Ethan’s bodyguards forcefully pinned me to the ground. My desperate attempts to break free were futile. I could only lie there, shouting in despair.

Ethan took pleasure in kicking at my daughter’s urn, and he filmed my breakdown for the livestream. The more I cried, the more his audience mocked me.

"You want money? I’ll give it to you!" I yelled.

Ethan chuckled derisively. "Now you’re ready to admit you were wrong? Just a moment ago, you were all bravado, threatening to call the cops. And now you’re so eager to comply?"

"Give out your money? The funds you spent were from my boyfriend! You owe me that back!"

"Her daughter doesn’t deserve a funeral! Smash everything! Let’s see if she still has the nerve to act so defiant!"

The bodyguards, spurred on by Ethan’s orders, continued their rampage. Objects were smashed to pieces, leaving only the empty casket standing alone in the wreckage.

In desperation and anger, I fought to break free from the bodyguards and made a beeline for Ethan.

I tried to grab the phone he was using to livestream, but a swift guard stopped me.

I was forcefully thrown aside, landing heavily on the ground.

As I lay there, blood trickling from my mouth, I glared at Ethan with a mix of rage and despair.

Ethan’s face contorted with disdain. “Still trying to put up a fight? Is this your usual arrogance?”

“You really think you can hurt me? You’re just a powerless woman, desperate to play the role of a ‘good wife’ in a relationship that you’re not even part of.”

With a malicious grin, he picked up a wine bottle from the floor and smashed it against the edge of a table. The shards flew towards me.

“Let’s see how you attract anyone with a disfigured face!”

The bottle shattered, sending a sharp piece slicing across my face.

Blood began to trickle down, painting a horrific, bloodstained scene.

Chapter 3

He turned the camera back to my face.

“Feeling good? Enjoying yourself? It’s probably more exciting than interfering in other people’s relationships, isn’t it?”

“Look, everyone. This is what happens to a homewrecker!”

“The rule of law protected you. Otherwise, a woman like you would be in serious trouble!”

The hall was in utter disarray, with no place left to stand.

The floor was a mess, and the guests, with nowhere to go, huddled in the corners, trembling.

Ethan looked at my daughter’s memorial photo, sneered suddenly, and yelled, “Smash it! Not a single photo should be spared!”

I was stunned and shouted back.

“Don’t!”

“You can’t do this! It’s an insult to my daughter, and you’ll be punished for it!”

The bodyguards hesitated, unsure, and stopped in their tracks.

My heart was pounding, and I held my breath, afraid he might snap and destroy my daughter’s memorial photo.

Ethan looked at me with a cold, expressionless face, then suddenly sneered with a cruel smile. “Are you trying to threaten me?”

His dark gaze made me freeze.

“Go ahead!”

“I’ll handle the consequences. But if you don’t act, don’t expect any money!”

The bodyguards exchanged worried glances, clearly afraid to defy him.

I fought my way free from the bodyguard restraining me and stumbled toward the altar.

But I was too late.

The urn and photo had fallen and shattered on the floor.

My heart sank as I saw the pieces. Ignoring the shards of glass, I grabbed my daughter’s photo, wiped off the dust, and held it tightly.

Just as I reached for the urn, a polished leather shoe sent it flying. I looked up and saw Ethan.

A sinking feeling washed over me.

The next moment, he lifted his foot and slammed it down on the urn!

Desperately, I threw myself over it, taking the brunt of his kick.

The pain was searing, and tears blurred my vision.

I stifled a cry, seizing the chance while he was momentarily distracted, grabbed the urn, and pulled it to my chest.

Ethan turned back, camera in hand, ready to capture it all.

I fought to keep the blood from rising in my throat and managed to grit it out.

“Are you out of your mind? Do you even realize you’re committing a crime? Is this really worth it for a man?”

Ethan shoved his phone camera right in my face.

“Friends, look at this. Even now she dares to threaten me. Shouldn’t we teach her a lesson?”

Pleased with the response, he grabbed my hair and forced me to look up at him.

“So, you really care about your daughter, huh?”

Then, rising slowly, he smirked and said, “Smash what she’s holding. I want her to experience the pain of losing something she loves!”

As Ethan finished speaking, the bodyguard who had paused for a moment at this time moved toward me again.

I held onto my daughter’s urn with all my might, refusing to let go.

The bodyguard couldn’t pull it free and looked to Ethan for instructions.

“If one person can’t do it, get two!” Ethan ordered. “I’ll take the responsibility for any mess this causes!”

He added, “I’m offering 10 thousand dollars to anyone who smashes the urn she’s holding!”

The bodyguards, driven by the promise of cash, immediately surged forward.

I scrambled on the floor, shouting, “Someone call the police now! I’ll pay 100 thousand dollars!”

As they closed in, I rolled desperately across the floor, trying to protect myself.

“Don’t touch me! Get away!”
