“Of course, none. Why would I hide something?” he inserted a few pieces of my hair behind my ear and smiled. “I am the luckiest to have you.”

“Really?” I asked and fixed his tie. “I am glad to know that, then.” Our conversation was interrupted when we heard a ringing in my phone. He reached for it and gave it to me. I smiled at him and glanced at the phone. It was none other than my mother.

“Hey mom, what’s the matter?” I asked.

“Your sister will be guesting on a popular TV show, let’s support her!” I smiled and looked at my husband who is currently drinking water. “Please?”

“Mom, when is it? I’ll check my calendar, is it okay?”

“On Sunday! Are you free? Please, I am begging you. We should go out sometimes! You have been too busy with work!”

“Mom, of course! I am planning for our future as a family. I will do my best to make sure that I can attend Rina’s guesting, okay?” I stared at my husband to see his reaction once I uttered Rina’s name. When I noticed him look down, that even confirmed what I heard earlier. “Okay, bye-bye!”

“What’s the matter?” Tyrone asked as soon as I put down my phone.

“Rina will have a guesting on a TV Show, Do you want to come?” I saw how his eyes glittered, which made me feel awful. He’s trying not to be happy, but his eyes tell a lot.

“Are you free? Well, it is my first time watching a TV show live, so I think it would be nice.” Tyrone grinned and sighed. “I’ll cancel all my plans on Sunday, is it okay?”

“But..” I whispered. “But we will celebrate our wedding anniversary on Sunday, right?”

Tyrone felt embarrassed, discovering that our wedding anniversary was on Sunday, yet he forgot about it.

“I am sorry, I completely forgot…A lot of things are happening in the office…” Tyrone shifted the conversation and sighed. “So, where do you want to go? Last time, we went to a beach, right?”

“Ah, I will think about it. After all, I am carrying twins. I should be mindful.”

“Twins?! That’s amazing! You didn’t tell me you will be carrying twins!”

I have no idea if he is glad that I am carrying twins since we are now a family, or because he will finally have children to share with Rina.

“So honey, why do you want to meet me today?” I stared at my mother as she slowly sat in front of me. “I know you are busy, so let’s not waste each other’s time.”

“Mom, I have to tell you something…” I sighed and tightened my grip on my wallet. “Well, I have no idea who to tell this one, but…”

“But?” my mother asked. “What’s the matter, Anastasia? Is something bothering you?”

“Mom..” I whispered and tightened my grip on my mother’s arm. “Tyrone is seeing someone else…”

“What? What the hell are you talking about!?” My mom stood up, completely baffled by what I had uttered. “Tyrone can’t do that. How could he?”

At that moment, my tears sprang. I looked down and noticed how my vision slowly got blurry.

“How sure are you? Maybe you misunderstood?”

“And guess what…” my voice cracked. “It was no other than Rina, my younger sister.”

My mom touched her lips and began shaking her head. She laughed and sat on the brown couch.

“Anastasia, that’s not a nice joke. Stop it..” My mom scolded me and drank the iced tea beside her. “Are you hearing yourself? You are literally accusing your sister!”

“I hope I am just fooling around, but I’m not. They are literally fucking inside his office!” I slammed the table, which caught the attention of other customers. “Mom, I loved him with my whole life! I tried to match his ideal woman but what did I get?!”

“Honey, calm down. Everyone’s looking at us.” My mom whispered and tapped my arms. “We’ll settle this, don’t worry. I am going to talk to him. Let’s have a dinner later.”

“Later? What are you going to tell him? Obviously, he will deny it!” I shouted.

“Don’t worry, I will bring Rina to clear things up, is that okay?” my mother added and touched both of my shoulders. “I will never let that man ruin our family and our life.”

“Honey, Mom and Rina’s finally here!” I can feel my heart jumped at that moment. I looked back and showed a warm smile. “The food’s getting colder, let’s go!”

As we walked down the stairs, I noticed the absence of our maids, making me a bit baffled.

“Hey honey, where are our maids? I didn’t see them today.” I asked. “Normally, I could see a couple of them, cleaning our stairs.”

“Uh well, I told them to go home early,” my husband smiled and fixed my dress. “Well, your mom told me that we will be eating; and advised that no maids should be left here.”

I slowly nodded and held tightly to his hand. I am scared of what might happen, but perhaps this is better. I am pregnant with twins, and I don’t want to feel stressed out anymore, so it would be better to settle it now.

“Hello, sis!” a woman with a pink dress shouted and waved at me. A lot of people asked me before if we were really sisters since we don’t look alike that much. “You are looking so gorgeous as ever!”

I glanced at my mom, and I could sense her awkwardness even if we were a bit far from each other. I leaned closer towards my sister and kissed her on the cheek. She then smiled at my husband and offered to hug him. My husband scratched his nape and moved away, making me narrow my eyes.

“Hey, what’s wrong with you?” my sister laughed and opened her arm. “Why do you look so awkward.”

My husband laughed and then responded to my sister’s offer by hugging her back. A minute of silence enveloped our place, and we found ourselves grinning at each other.

“I think we should go eat now.” my husband pointed at our enormous dining table. “The soup might get cold!”

We then walked towards our table and sat down.

“Where are the maids? I can’t see anyone?” Rina asked as she started looking around. “I want an extra utensil.”

“Ah, apparently, Mom told me to make them go home early so we could enjoy this night.” my husband responded and took out an extra spoon. “Here, you can use this. I have enough utensils.”

Rina then nodded and smiled. “Thank you, bro.”

I picked up my spoon and glanced at my mom who was currently consuming the lobster.

“Ah, Mom, Rina has a TV appearance on Sunday, right? I think it would be better to finish early so we could all go to rest.” Rina and Tyrone looked at me with so much confusion. “You know, let’s not waste each others’ time.”

“What do you mean, honey?” my husband asked and dropped the fork. “You know the reason for this dinner? Is it serious?”

“Honey, you should go and start eating first and then we’ll talk about it later.” my mom smiled and drank some water. I nodded and started eating my soup, and after a few minutes, I could feel my eyes getting heavy. My vision started to get blurry, and I found myself losing consciousness.

When I woke up, I became confused when I was inside a coffin. I have no idea how much time has passed, but I feel ill. I felt my stomach hurt a little, and when I touched it, I then remembered that I was pregnant. I tried to move and push the coffin, but it wasn’t opening. When I found a hole, I peeked on it, and I couldn’t believe my eyes.

“My dress might get dirty! You can do it!” I can see Rina holding a shovel. “Make it fast, Tyrone!”

“You haven’t started burying? Oh god. I left here for like an hour!” My stomach knotted when I heard my husband reply. “I know I should not have asked you a favor. I will tell Mom about this so she won’t give you your inheritance in the future.”

“Help! Help!” I screamed, making both of them startled. “Please, help me, why are you doing this?!”

“Oh my god, she’s already awake..” Rina responded and started throwing some sand and rocks using the shovel. “Make it fast, Tyrone!”

“Why are you doing this to me?!” I shouted and started weeping. “I treated you all nicely!”

“I am sorry, honey. We realized it is better this way.” Tyrone responded. “In fact, we already found a surrogate mom so we won’t be needing your twins.”

“See you in hell!” Rina added.

As rocks started to pile on the coffin, I accepted my fate.

“I am sorry, my love,” I whispered and touched my stomach. “I am sorry I wasn’t able to protect you..”
