Chapter 1

I, a five years old kid, got lost while on sightseeing trips with my biological parents, thus encountering my adoptive parents.

They took me in and brought me up. When I was eight years old, both of them died in a car accident.

After that, I had been staying in an orphanage until my eighteen years old. It was at that time that I passed the university admission examination. With my outstanding look, I'd work as a waitress in a high-class bar every winter and summer vacation to make money, with which I could pay my tuition fees.

At 21, I, a junior, met my biological brother, Joseph, while working in the bar.

Per him, all over these years, they had been looking for me.

Hugging me, he said, "Sis."

I, who had been longing for love, returned to the Smith family and was named Cara Smith, which was my original name.

I never expected that I'd go back to my biological parent's side one day.

Joseph took me home, only to see my parents dining jubilantly with Tara Smith, who had been the lady of the Smith family during my absence.

At first glance, my parents failed to recognize me.

Thinking that Joseph was home with his girlfriend, they quickly arranged the housekeeper to get me slippers.

Trying my best to remain calm, I lowered my head to put on the slippers. Joseph said, "Mom, Preston, this is Cara."

At his words, my mother, Fiona, screamed as soon as she got close to me.

I looked up, only to see tears brimming in her eyes.

"Cara, you are Cara. You are my Cara."

This name had been engraved in my mind since my early childhood.

Fiona excitedly pulled me to the front of my father, Preston.

She said, "Preston, look, she is indeed Cara."

Preston stood up with excitement, while Fiona hugged me and Joseph.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Tara clenching her fists tightly.

Fiona pulled me to the living room. Tara no longer remained silent at this time.

"Mom, don't you have to do a paternity test? If she is an impostor, we will all become laugh stocks."

I could tell that she didn't welcome me.

Taking my parent's hands, I said, "Let's do a paternity test. When Joseph found me, I doubted if I was the one you were looking for either."

As I spoke, I walked out.

My parents and Joseph followed closely behind me, and so did Tara.

Along the way, Preston contacted someone from the hospital hurriedly, demanding the result be out as soon as possible tonight.

As soon as we arrived at the hospital, the director showed up to entertain us attentively.

In Boston, the Brook family was the most powerful family, with the Smith family trailing behind.

While leading the way in front, the director kept making phone calls to make arrangements.

Ever since my adulthood, I had never been treated like this.

Tara walked beside me arrogantly. She, who had been an dignified lady for more than ten years, was used to it.

We arrived at the Director's office and sat down.

A lot of doctors and nurses came in and out, extracting the DNA of Preston and me.

Two hours later, the result was out. The director nervously handed over the result slip.

Tara snatched it over and opened it.

I could tell that Joseph was displeased. He snatched the slip from Tara's hands.

After taking a look, he held me in his arms and said, "You are Elva. You are indeed my biological sister."

Fiona cried in Preston's arms. Tara had left, which none of us noticed.

Upon arriving home, I saw a car park in front of the house.

Tugging at my arm, Joseph said, "This is Cesar, do you remember him? You used to be close to him in your childhood."

My childhood memories had failed me, so I had no clue who Cesar Brook was.

Chapter 2

Before I could say anything, Tara ran out and shouted, "Cesar, you're here." She went up and wanted to hug him, but he avoided her agilely.

I couldn't hold back my laughter, and Tara glared at me.

Cesar followed us into the house.

"Uncle, Auntie, hearing that you found Cara, my grandfather sent me here to have a look. Due to his leg injury, he didn't come in person."

As he spoke, he handed me a gift, "This is a gift for our first meeting, Cara. A hand-me-down from my grandma. Hearing that you were back, Grandpa urged me to give it to you now."

Tara had been indifferent all these times. At the sight of the bracelet, she no longer smiled.

"Cesar, you can't give this to her. This is Grandma's. You won't let me touch it. How can you give it to a stranger?"

Making threatening gestures, she wanted to snatch bracelet away. Preston stopped her and said, "Tara, sit tight! Act like a noble lady!"

"I see. She's back. It's all hers, isn't it? You want to drive me away, don't you!"

After saying that, Tara cried and ran out. Fiona quickly chased after her.

All that had happened made me realize that I had been involved in a messy relationship.

On the way here, I saw that Tara often posted some of her interactions with Cesar on Twitter.

Per her, she would be engaged to Cesar when she grew up. No wonder she looked at me maliciously when Cesar gave me the bracelet.

I thought to myself, "So, should I take this bracelet now?"

I looked at Preston. Smilingly, he looked at me and said nothing.

Joseph sat next to me and took the bracelet over.

"Just take it. You don't have to be polite with Cesar. He is usually reticent. When you were a child, we took you to have fun together. When you were lost, he and I both were sad all these years."

At this time, I had no idea about what the bracelet stood for. Given that it was a hand-me-down from an elder, it would be impolite for me to turn it down.

So I took it.

Cesar wanted to say something, but Joseph pushed him out and said, "Hurry up and leave. Say it tomorrow if you have anything to say. Cara and I will have some catch up conversations."

I could tell that Joseph doted on me so much.

I guessed in my heart, "But I don't think he gets along with Tara. Is he spoiling me?"

Tara didn't run far, nor did she go out. She was still in the yard.

While seeing Cesar off, I overheard Tara say to Fiona, "Mom, don't you want me anymore?"

At her pitiful look, I couldn't help but feel moved.

At the thought that I had been abducted and this was my home, I felt that it was nothing.

"Tara, why would I drive you away? When your mother handed you over to me personally, I promised her that I would treat you as my own daughter, and that you would be my biological daughter forever."

"Cara is older than you. From now on, call her sister. You are both my precious daughters."

Joseph said, "Tara's mother was our servant back then. After you were lost, her mother accompanied mom for a walk every year. Then a car hit her and she passed away, making Tara a parent-less kid. Feeling sorry for her, mom raised her as her own daughter."

Looking into my eyes, he added, "But you are my only biological sister and the real lady of the Smith family."

Chapter 3

Joseph's words touched me. I thought that I shouldn't be here by fate, but all my family members were trying to make me feel welcome.

Mom took me upstairs to my room, saying, "Baby, this is where you lived when you were a child. I have been helping you clean it. I knew you would come back."

I didn't expect Fiona to keep my room all the time. Even with Tara by her side, she had never forgotten me.

As she spoke, she began to cry. I quickly hugged her, saying, "All right, Mom, I'm back. I'm glad that I can go back to your side. I'll treat Tara like my own sister."

I came to my room.

My room was a suite where photos of me were everywhere. The toy room from my childhood was still there. Everything was so clean and familiar.

This suite alone was as big as the house of my adoptive parents.

At this sight, I couldn't help but feel a little sad.

"I'm the real lady of the Smith family," I couldn't help but think.

Tara, who was three years younger than me, was in her third year of high school. It was a noble school where strict management was in place, so she lived in the dorm.

She, who had been attending classes for the past few days, should be back home today.

Early in the morning, Mom and Preston took me to visit Mr. Brook, Cesar's grandfather.

Before we could arrive, Mr. Brook had been waiting at the door.

He, who had been smiling, saw a long Lincoln stop in front of the Brook family's mansion.

As soon as I got out of the car, Mr. Brook came up to me.

"Cara, I finally see you again. The last time I saw you, you were only five years old."

Hearing his words, I knew Fiona would cry again soon.

I quickly changed the topic, saying, "Where's Cesar? Is he inside?"

At my words, Mr. Brook smiled more happily and said, "Come on, let's go. I'll take you to Cesar."

I thought, "Mr. Brook is so elated."

Upon entering the mansion, I saw Cesar talking to a girl who looked the same age as Tara.

Just like Joseph, Cesar was five years older than me.

As soon as I entered the door, Mr. Brook excitedly introduced me.

"This is Cesar's younger sister, Alice. She's the same age as your younger sister, and they're classmates. She used to be in other cities with her parents, so you've never seen her before."

Upon seeing me, Alice hugged my arm and said, "Cara, Grandpa always talks about you. You're so pretty."

Tara would never smile like this in front of me, but she would always do so in front of Cesar.

It was time for a meal soon. It couldn't be more evident that Mr. Brook was very happy.

He looked at us and smiled all the time.

Before the meal, he stood up and said, "It's great news for both of our families. Before Cesar's grandmother died, the engagement between us had been on her mind. Now it's time to talk about it."

No wonder he looked so energetic and joyful upon entering the room.

"Cesar is not young anymore, and our two families have been friends for generations.

"Now that Cara is back and about to graduate, it's time to discuss the marriage between they two."

His words scared me so much that I choked on my own saliva. Cesar handed me a piece of tissue right away.

Everyone around us was looking at us with smiles on their faces.

I looked at Cesar with pleading eyes. Although we had been hanging out together for a few years, he must have his own sweethearts.
