Sasha's POV:

We ran in our wolf form for a couple of hours. It was getting dark but the thought of Xavier made us keep running. We found a small lake and decided we would rest here for the night. As Mel and I leaned over to drink some water, we heard a twig snap. We both shot our head up, crouching down, snarling and baring our canines, ready to attack whoever it was. We were surrounded by 7 huge wolves. They were also crouched down, ready to attack. 'Lina, did we enter someone's territory?' I asked my wolf. 'Oh shoot, sorry we did. Sorry , I wasn't really paying attention. There is something making me jumpy and on edge'  she responded. 'It is not Xavier, is it? I asked. 'No, it is something else', she replied. Then she blocked me. The hell.

I was so distracted talking to my wolf that I didn't notice a wolf jump on me till it was too late but then Mel was quick to side tackle it. Then another one jumped on Mel's back, taking a bite of her back. I bit that wolf's leg and shook my head side to side, making that wolf whimper in pain. Mel got back up and bit another wolf while I lunged for one on my own. 

But I was tossed to a nearby tree before I made it to that wolf, from another wolf. This wolf was different. It was huge and radiating power. It didn't matter though because I got up, ready to attack. I ran towards the wolf, it didn't even move, but it was too late to stop. He bites down on my neck. Here it is, finally the moon goddess is telling me to go be with my parents and pack. He bit down harder, making me stop squirming. I will never submit though, even as I feel myself losing consciousness. I heard a very loud growl... it was Mel.

Mel's POV:

 I was biting down on a stupid wolf, then I turned to see who my next target would be, instead I saw my best friend's neck in some huge wolf's mouth. The sight alone brought back memories of my mother. I growled furiously at the wolf, ready to attack, and then a smell stopped me dead in my tracks. It was like chocolate and hazelnut, pretty much nutella. It was coming from that son of a bitch, the one that had my best friend in his mouth. My wolf Cassie  screamed Mate, Mate! We found our mate Mel. The stupid wolf was jumping for joy, while I'm over here trying to kill that wolf. Mel or not, Sasha is my best friend, she has been there for me since we were in diapers.

There was a time in second grade, when a female wolf stole my crayons, and I was crying. Sasha asked what happened, she went up to the girl, probably threatened her and got my crayons back. And another time in eighth grade, this guy called me a bitch because I wouldn't go out with him, and Sasha punched him dead in the nose, breaking it in the process. That's my girl right there, so mate or not, I'm not letting him hurt my best friend.

I charged towards him with my canines bared out, ready to hurt him. But then, he threw Sasha at me causing the both of us to collide. Sasha was hurt , but she will heal... fast, because of the Alpha blood in her. The guy that bit Sasha went behind a tree, came back out with a pair of shorts on, and oh boy was he sexy. Is it possible to be drooling in wolf form, because that was what was happening. 

'Shift' was all he said, umm no stupid. There are a bunch of wolves here and I am not shifting to let these perverts see my beautiful body. hahaha , sometimes I crack myself up. ' I said shift', he says again. Which earned him a growl from me. While that was happening, Sasha was finally healing and waking up. About fucking time.

 Sasha's POV:

'I said SHIFT' was all I heard followed by a growl as I came to consciousness. I swear Mel is a badass. I got up groggily and looked at him, walked to grab our duffel bag, went behind a tree to shift. Mel decided she was not ready to do that just yet.  Does she want to die? As I was walking past her, I gave her the ' the bitch you are crazy look' but she seemed unfazed. I turned to the guy and said,  'look we are sorry we crossed into your territory. We are so sorry, we are harmless. Just two young girls, passing by. Please just let us pass through.'

'Sorry, no can do. Rules are rules. You will need to be kept in the cell holding until our alpha comes back and gives you the clear.  He said. I mind linked Mel, ' we are fucked Mel. he is going to kill us and why the hell are you still in your wolf form?'. She mind linked me back,  'he won't do anything'. Where is this new found confidence coming from? I wondered as she walked behind the tree with the duffle bag. Came out , dressed in a shirt and sweats. The idiot guy was just staring at her. Uhmmm, am I missing something here?

Sasha's POV:

Two days!!! It's been two freaking days that we have been sitting in this cell holding or dungeon. Also , it's been two days since I found out that this idiot wolf is Mel's mate. No wonder she didn't care. It's also been two days since I found out that the wolf is the Beta of this pack and his name is Noah. But that was all there is, besides coming down to bring us food, he didn't say much. I know he only came down to check on his mate, not that he would admit it because he could have just sent any random wolf to do the delivering rather than do that himself. And Mel being Mel, she wouldn't give in easily. Although, she keeps telling me in private after he leaves that the mate bond keeps pulling her in, I was so happy for my best friend, she deserves someone.

'Hey Mel', I called out for her. Yeah, the cell is big, but not too big, just enough room to fit a queen size bed into. 'Yeah, what's up?', she replied. 'What's going to happen when the Alpha comes? You think he is going to just let me leave? I mean I'm harmless and of course you are going to stay. I am not going to let you come with me and leave your mate. No arguments there and that's final.' I said to her using my Alpha's voice, thus shutting her up.

After a few silent moments... 'Will we still be seeing each other, you are the only family I have left now.' I asked again, with tears falling down my face, I swear I can be such a cry baby at times. 'Well, I think we should ask the Alpha if we can both join his pack, you are also the only family I have now. I'm not even sure if Kyle is still alive or not.' Mel said to me, also crying. I think talking about Kyle made her emotional, I mean, who wouldn't be. 'It will be okay Mel, I'm sure of it. We will figure something out like we always do, when we get to that bridge.' I said with a smile.

It was the fourth day... I mean 1,2,3,4 whole days. We were sleeping when we suddenly heard a loud bang, forcing Mel and I to sit up on the bed. All we were hearing was footsteps, like a whole lot of them, then BAM, a nice smell suddenly hit me. It smells woodsy like the forest during the raining season mixed with a hint of morning dew and olive. It smelled so divine.  Then the beta, Noah opened the gate... oh shit, I think he is here, the Alpha... a freaking tall man walked in, maybe 6 " 6 or even taller, very handsome face, sandy blonde/brown hair with ocean blue eyes. 

I looked into his eyes and I was mesmerized. Everything stopped and it was as if it were just the two of us in the room. I was so sucked in by his beautiful eyes that I didn't realize that I had walked up to him and cupped his cheeks, with a huge smile on my face. My wolf was busy jumping up and down, saying Mate!! Mate!!, he is so damn gorgeous. He then grabbed my hands away from his face forcefully and pushed me away, making me fall on my ass. After, he stomped out of the cell, right up the direction he came in from. I was speechless, like what just happened? Did my mate just reject me? I was so confused. 'No don't think like that, don't say that. He loves us, he wouldn't hurt us. He will definitely protect us.' my wolf said, trying to comfort me. 'Uhmm, I don't think so Lina, you saw how he reacted when I touched him. He pushed me away and I fell on my ass. That is not a good sign, I don't think he wants us.' I replied back.

Everyone left along with him. My heart hurts so much though, but then, it's not like I had never felt pain before so this is nothing new. 'Mind telling me what just happened, like you just waltz up to the Alpha and grab his face with a full blown smile... Sasha?, Mel asked me. I wiped my tears and turned to face my best friend, 'turns out the big bad Alpha is my mate', I said with a fake smile.

Hoping my best friend would buy it, rather she walked up to me, 'oh babes, I'm so sorry', she said while giving me a hug. 'I'm okay Mel, I really am. Nobody wants someone who is broken with baggage. I mean, come on, I got a Psychopath that is after me, hurting and killing everyone and everything that will get in his way all because he wants some stupid pups with strong Alpha blood, so it's best it stays like this so nobody gets hurt.' At this point, I was crying once again. 'Ooh Sasha, stop crying. He is definitely dumb if he can't see what a wonderful person you are, it is his loss.' She said, while trying to console me.

We eventually fell asleep.
