Chapter 1

"How can I tactfully tell him that I am a relocated household?" I thought.

Later, my boyfriend told me that he was worried about how to tell me - "He is the son of a real estate tycoon."

It was outrageous!

"Shelly! Our house is being demolished!"

As soon as class was over, I received a call from my dad.

I was instantly moved to tears.

"It's not easy." I thought. Our old house had gone through countless difficulties and would finally be demolished!

"Dad, how much can our family get?" I looked at my boyfriend, Easton Lawson, who was waving at me under the shade of the tree, covering the phone and asking in a low voice.

"I estimate that we can get fifteen or sixteen apartments after they demolish our house," My dad's hearty voice boomed through the phone."

My eyes widened, and I was shocked, "How many?"

Perhaps my voice was too sharp, and Easton looked at me with some confusion at my excitement.

I quickly suppressed my excitement and gave a very calm look, "Okay, I got it. You can discuss which apartments will be transferred to me with my mom."

After speaking, I hung up the phone and happily hugged my boyfriend's arm.

"What's up, Shelly? Why the big smile today?" Easton turned to face me, a soft, warm smile playing at the corners of his eyes and lips.

"Easton..." I looked at him and silently marveled, "My boyfriend is absolutely gorgeous! It's just that his family background is on the simpler side. I've heard his parents are blue-collar workers, dedicated to their jobs in construction. But it doesn't matter. In the future, I will support him!"

"Easton, can I support you when I have money in the future?" I gently tugged at Easton's arm and acted coquettishly towards him.

Easton paused suspiciously, silently lowered his head to look at me, and then a hint of a helpless smile appeared in his eyes, "Okay when you have money, support me."

I smiled, starting to plan how to support Easton in the future.

Although our old house was dilapidated, it had many rooms and large areas.

Whether they compensated us with the house or gave us money, it was a great fortune.

I had already discussed with my parents that whether they subsidized the apartments or money, I would receive a share, which would be credited promptly.

"If my parents give me five apartments, I plan to rent out four of them and choose one that suits my preferences best as our wedding home, so that Easton can save considerable expenses. Not only do these apartments come with no mortgage, but after we marry, we'll only need to worry about daily expenses, and eventually, we'll also be able to provide for our children's needs." I thought.

Just thinking about the beautiful life with Easton in the future, I couldn't help but blush and cover my face. Just the thought of it made me so happy!

"Shelly? Are you okay? Why is your face so flush?" Just as I was immersed in my fantasy, Easton suddenly grabbed my shoulder and looked at me anxiously.

I was stunned and instinctively touched my cheek. "Sigh... it was really hot. No need to think; my face must be all red now."

"I'm fine. It's just a bit hot today." I pretended to fan myself with my hand.

Easton remained silent for a moment, his gaze fixed on me, who was bundled up tightly in a scarf and a bulky coat, which seemed a bit odd.

"What the hell?" I thought. "I made a mistake and forgot it's winter now."

After having lunch with Easton, I was still very excited when I returned to the dormitory.

After all, someone who had been poor for so many years might not be overwhelmingly excited, to the point of confusion, if they suddenly acquired money and multiple apartments one day.

My roommate, my best friend, Mary Jeffrey, knew about my family's demolition because her house was next to mine.

My house was demolished, and hers was too.

Wow, two relocated households had come together.

Mary rested her chin on her hand and looked at me thoughtfully, excitedly.

"Shelly, did you tell Easton about the demolition of your house?"

I shook my head and said, "No, I just told Easton that if I have money in the future, I will support him."

Mary was speechless.

Rubbing her forehead somewhat helplessly, she murmured, "Should I say that you are too naive, or should I say that you are too innocent?"

I was speechless.

"Actually, come to think of it, is it because there's not a huge disparity in your families' current financial situations that you're with Easton now?" Mary patiently prompted me. "Now that your family has been relocated, your economic standing has undoubtedly risen significantly, whereas Easton's family remains unchanged. Should the wealth disparity become too pronounced, it may pose challenges to maintaining a harmonious relationship."

I looked at Mary, wanting to say something but hesitated.

I shouldn't have let her see those inexplicable things on video platforms.

"My dear, the issue of the wealth gap and the matching of social status between families is indeed quite significant." Mary looked at me with disbelief and indifference, sighed deeply, and advised me earnestly. "Don't be skeptical. How many people have had bad endings in their marriages because of the huge wealth gap?"

I blushed, covering my face with my hands, and stammered, 'Oh, we haven't even crossed that bridge yet! Talking about marriages already, it's so awkward!'"

Mary was speechless.

Mary rolled her eyes and finally ignored me, turning around and leaving.

I stayed alone in the dormitory, staring at the empty room and thinking back to what Mary had just said. "Well, there is certainly some truth to that. Even if I genuinely don't mind Easton's family's financial situation, and even if I can support our future life independently, rendering his need to work obsolete, the question remains: Is Easton truly content with that? He's a fiercely proud individual... Whether it's academics or any other endeavor, Easton strives to excel and be the best. His aspiration even extends to working in a state-owned enterprise. Now, I suddenly suggested that he no longer has to work hard. How could Easton possibly bear such a notion?"

I bit my lip, showing some concern. "How can I tell Easton about this without hurting his self-esteem and fully explaining the matter of my family becoming rich immediately? This is really a big problem."

Chapter 2

After a night of careful consideration, I devised a perfect plan.

"First, I must inquire about Easton's family background to ascertain whether it is as impoverished as I perceive. Ultimately, if Easton's family is not indeed impoverished, I would not have to concern myself with this matter subsequently. He attends to his work, while I simply remain at home. After all, in terms of income, I can effortlessly generate approximately 10,000 dollars per month solely by collecting rent. Thus, there should be no hindrance to our daily lives. Upon discovering that Easton's family is genuinely struggling financially, I will subtly convey to Easton that my family too faces economic constraints. In the direst scenario, I will seek employment and contribute to our livelihood. The magnitude of my salary is secondary; the crucial aspect is for Easton to observe my unwavering dedication and hard work. Working tirelessly for the betterment of both our futures." After thoroughly planning in my mind, I nodded with great satisfaction.

"What a perfect plan. I was a little genius." I thought

So, I took out half a month's living expenses, especially going to the mall to buy Easton a very good quality shirt, and then went to find Easton.

Easton only had classes in the morning.

So I carried the bag and waited for Easton to finish class downstairs in the teaching building.

At 11:35 am, Easton came downstairs on time.

"Easton!" I called out with a smile, making my way towards him.

Easton saw me and was obviously surprised and said, "Not getting your today's beauty sleep?"

On this day of the week, I didn't have any classes throughout the day, so it was inevitable that I wouldn't wake up until one o'clock. Easton was aware of this too, so he was understandably surprised at this moment.

I smiled sweetly and gently as I handed the bag to Easton, "Easton, I bought you a shirt. Try it on in the dorm later to see if it fits."

Easton silently stared at me for two seconds, took the bag, held my hand, and then said, "Shelly Hanson, did you do something behind my back that I shouldn't know about?"

I was rendered speechless. I didn't understand and was greatly shocked. I said, "Easton, have I become so unbearable to you now?"

I placed my hand on my chest and looked heartbroken.

Easton rolled his eyes and squeezed my hand, asking, "What would you like to eat for lunch?"

"Barbecue!"

Hehehe, I could still afford to indulge in barbecue twice this month...

4

Easton wasn't fond of barbecue. Or, you could say that he wasn't a big fan of such hearty or rich cuisine.

In my opinion, Easton's lifestyle resembled that of an elderly person's.

He had a routine of going to bed early and waking up at the crack of dawn. Every night at ten o'clock, he would say goodnight, and then he'd rise at six in the morning to send me a good morning message before heading off to breakfast.

If I weren't in a relationship with him, I'd probably indulge in unhealthy food for lunch every day. But his lunch routine was all about balance – he'd head to the cafeteria and opt for a meal with two dishes, comprising a soup, a meat dish, and a vegetable dish, ensuring a well-rounded nutritional intake.

As for me, I had always had a penchant for spicy cuisine and a fondness for indulging in junk food. Consequently, Easton had imposed a monthly quota on the number of barbecue meals and junk food items I could consume.

Sigh, despite not enjoying exercise, this has resulted in my body being great.

The Barbecue restaurant we went to was a cheap one near the school. It was said that the restaurant's owner was from Argentina, and the Argentina Barbecue was authentic.

It was just a pity...

I was afraid that besides going out to eat with Mary, I wouldn't be able to try such authentic Barbecue in my whole life.

I regretfully glanced over the menu and reluctantly ordered a mildly seasoned grilled meat for the barbecue instead of the extra spicy one.

Eating Barbecue without spicy was soulless!

Although eating Barbecue with Easton was soulless, it was still enjoyable!

The Barbecue with beef tripe was not spicy enough, but it could still satisfy my craving.

Mushrooms and cabbage were delicious and fragrant.

I squinted my eyes in happiness.

I squinted my eyes in happiness. Easton didn't let me order too much. The dishes I ordered were just enough to make me full. I couldn't eat anymore.

On the way back to the dormitory with Easton, I finally remembered my purpose this time and started to inquire about Easton's family situation indirectly.

After thinking momentarily, Easton didn't hide it from me, "My family has been busy recently; they have to catch up on the progress."

I was stunned. "Catch up with the progress? The progress of building their own house? Ah, this..."

I suddenly felt extremely sorry for Easton.

Easton looked at my kind, affectionate expression, and there was a hint of suspicion in his eyes as he frowned.

Easton seemed to want to say something, but my attention was immediately drawn to the phone in my pocket the next second.

My dad sent me a message, roughly meaning that we could get the apartments at the end of the year, and he planned to give me the apartments with a good location in the city.

After all, considering that I was still young and lazy, it was more convenient for me to collect rent directly at home.

I was instantly delighted.

Originally, I expected to have only one or two apartments in the city, but now it seemed like my dad was preparing to give me all the apartments in the city.

"In that case, does it mean that I can really rely on rental income to live a comfortable life in the future? Wow, is this the benefit of demolishing a self-built house?" I thought.

As I slipped my phone back into my pocket, I lifted my gaze and saw Easton, his side profile crisp and attractive beneath the sunlight. It only made me feel more devastated. "It's true that people have different destinies even if they are from the same background." Although I hadn't experienced much poverty in my life, with the speed of media coverage, the lives of many poor people were starting to enter the public's view. There was only poverty in this world besides the rich and the common people."

I didn't know the specific situation of Easton's family, but it definitely didn't sound good.

I had made up my mind.

"Easton, we must filial to parents!"

I suddenly stopped and looked at Easton seriously.

Easton was puzzled.
