Chapter 2

The world blurred as Damian DeLuca dragged Isabella through the chaos of her ruined wedding.

Her screams echoed against the marble walls of the church, but no one dared to stop him. Armed men in black suits lined the aisle, their guns gleaming under the chandelier lights.

"Let me go!" Isabella cried, struggling against his iron grip. Her bouquet slipped from her hand, scattering petals across the floor like broken promises.

Daniel stumbled after them, his face twisted with rage.

"Bring her back! Isabella!"

But a single punch from one of Damian's men sent him crashing to the floor. Blood stained Daniel's white tuxedo. Isabella's heart wrenched at the sight, but she was powerless, yanked out into the night like a prisoner being led to her doom.

Outside, sleek black cars waited with tinted windows. Damian shoved her into the backseat of the largest one. The door slammed shut, trapping her inside.

She pounded against the glass. "Help! Somebody help me!"

Damian slid in beside her, calm, composed, as though kidnapping a bride was as ordinary as breathing.

"Stop wasting your breath," he said coolly, his voice deep and commanding. "No one out there would dare defy me."

Her chest heaved, fury boiling inside her.

"Who do you think you are?" she spat. "You just ruined my wedding, my life-"

"I saved you," he cut her off sharply, eyes glinting like steel. "That man you were about to marry? He could never protect you. Not from this world. Not from me."

Her brows knitted in confusion. "What are you talking about? I don't even know you!"

His lips curved into a dark smile. "Oh, Isabella... you know nothing, but your father did. He promised you to me years ago."

Her stomach twisted. "Lies. My father would never-"

"Wouldn't he?" Damian leaned closer, his scent of leather and smoke invading her senses. "Your father owed me a debt he could never repay. His life was spared because of you. You were the price."

Her blood ran cold. A contract? A promise?

It couldn't be true.

"You're insane," she whispered, shaking her head. "I'm not your property!"

For the first time, his expression softened-but only slightly. His hand reached out, tilting her chin up, forcing her to meet his eyes.

"You will understand soon, bella mia. I don't let go of what's mine."

The car sped into the night, the city lights flashing past like fading stars. Isabella's chest tightened with dread as towering gates came into view, leading to a sprawling mansion hidden in shadows.

Her prison. Her new reality.

Her nightmare had only just begun.

Chapter 3

The iron gates creaked open, and Isabella's breath caught as the black car rolled down a long, winding driveway. Towering pines lined the path, their shadows bending in the moonlight like silent guards.

At the end stood the mansion.

It was massive, its gothic towers piercing the night sky, the windows glowing faintly like watchful eyes. It looked less like a home and more like a fortress.

"This..." Isabella whispered, her chest tightening. "This isn't real."

Damian's gaze slid toward her, sharp and unreadable.

"It's as real as it gets. From tonight, Isabella, this is your home."

Her stomach knotted.

"Home? You've kidnapped me. This is a prison!"

A dark chuckle rumbled from his chest.

"Call it what you like. A gilded cage is still better than the hell you'd have found with your little groom."

Her nails dug into her palms. "Daniel loves me. He would have-"

"Daniel is weak," Damian snapped, his voice like ice. "Weak men don't survive in my world. And neither would you, unless you're under my protection."

Before she could fire back, the car stopped at the entrance. Two men in black suits opened the doors, bowing their heads slightly to Damian. Their respect was absolute, like soldiers to their commander.

Damian stepped out first, then reached back for her. She jerked her hand away, refusing his help.

He only smirked. "Fiery. I like that."

Isabella climbed out, her wedding dress snagging on the car door, leaving a rip in the delicate silk. She felt her heart break all over again. The dress that once symbolized love and dreams was now nothing more than chains.

Inside, the mansion was breathtaking-grand marble staircases, golden chandeliers, walls lined with priceless art. But beneath the beauty lingered a chilling darkness, as though every corner whispered of secrets and blood.

Damian walked her into the main hall.

"You will stay here, in my house. You will eat here, sleep here, breathe here. And you will learn one thing, Isabella-"

His shadow loomed over her, tall and unyielding.

"-you belong to me now."

Her heart pounded, rage and fear colliding.

"You can force me into this place, but you will never have my heart."

For a moment, silence stretched between them. Then Damian's lips curved into a slow, dangerous smile.

"Challenge accepted."

Chapter 4

The heavy doors of the mansion slammed shut behind her, sealing Isabella's fate. She stood in the vast hall, her hands trembling at her sides. The silence was suffocating, broken only by the echo of Damian's footsteps as he circled her like a predator stalking prey.

"Why are you doing this?" she demanded, her voice cracking. "You ruined my life, you humiliated me, and for what? Money? Power? Is that what this is?"

Damian's gaze hardened, his voice low and dangerous.

"Your father owed me more than money, Isabella. He owed me his life. And when he couldn't repay me... he offered you."

Her chest tightened as if the walls themselves had caved in.

"No," she whispered, shaking her head. "That's not true. My father would never-"

Damian strode forward, pulling a folded document from his jacket. He tossed it onto a nearby table.

"Read it."

Hands trembling, Isabella opened it. Her father's signature was there, written in bold ink beneath words that shattered her soul. A marriage contract. An agreement. Proof that she had been traded like property long before she ever stood at the altar with Daniel.

Tears blurred her vision. "He... he signed this?"

Damian's eyes softened for the briefest moment, then turned cold again.

"He did what he had to do to save you. Without him, you and your family would have been destroyed years ago. I protected you all this time, Isabella. And this-" he gestured at the mansion, at himself, "-this is the price."

Her tears turned to fury. She hurled the papers at his chest.

"I am not for sale! I don't care what my father signed-I don't belong to you!"

In a flash, he caught her wrists, pinning them against the table. His breath fanned her cheek, his presence overwhelming.

"You don't get to choose," he growled. "Every breath you take is because I allow it. Your family is safe because of me. Defy me, and they pay the cost."

Her heart stopped. The blood drained from her face.

"You wouldn't..." she whispered.

His grip tightened, his voice soft but lethal.

"Try me."

For a long moment, neither of them moved. Isabella's defiance warred with her fear, but Damian's gaze held her trapped, chained by an invisible force stronger than any iron bars.

Finally, he released her, stepping back as if nothing had happened. His composure returned, his tone calm.

"You will stay here. You will live as my wife. In time, you will learn it is better to stop fighting."

Her eyes blazed. "I will never accept you."

Damian's lips curved into a slow, dangerous smile, his voice like silk wrapped around steel.

"Then I suppose we'll see how long your fire lasts."
