Chapter 6

The severe pain kept my mind very clear, as I watched everything happening before me with my own eyes.

I saw Lucius change back into human form; he did not even look at the flipped car, with a worried face, holding Wisteria tightly in his arms.

“Wisteria! Is the baby alright?” His voice shook.

Wisteria leaned into his arms, crying without stopping. “Lucius… I only wanted to ask Rosalie to remain, she told the driver to move… if not because of you, our child would have been lost…”

Lucius quickly turned his head, looking straight at me, covered in blood.

“Rosalie, you truly make me feel sick.”

“How did you change from that soft and caring girl before, into such a cruel woman now? I gave you too much!”

And I was in such deep pain that I could not speak for myself at all

Lucius did not turn around as he carried Wisteria away. I stayed there for a long time before I slowly stood up on my own.

At that moment, I no longer wanted to visit the treatment center. I quietly went back home and treated my injuries on my own.

Over the next few days, I stayed in the room, keeping the door closed to everyone.

Lucius still went to look at the surveillance and found that Wisteria had rushed in front of the car by herself.

“Rosalie, I looked at the surveillance.” He stood outside the door, his tone showed rare guilt. “She only wanted you to remain, and she is pregnant and not steady in her emotions, so she made such a strong move.”

I did not even open my eyes. “So?”

“So I gave you fairness, I told her to reflect well, and she also said she wants to apologize to you.”

“Rosalie, do not be upset anymore, okay? I will take you to a party, okay?”

See, this was his so-called “fairness.”

Even when the facts were shown before him, even when I had been set up again and again, in his eyes, it was just one of Wisteria’s actions.

“Alright.” I quietly replied. “For the time ahead, whatever you want, I will go along.”

The moment I walked into the party, I saw Wisteria.

She was wearing a soft, white silk long dress, like a pure angel.

Lucius noticed my eyes and naturally put his arm around Wisteria’s shoulder.

“She made a wrong move, but she is still pregnant with my child. I must stay close to her at all times; I cannot let anything go wrong.”

I did not say anything; I only sat quietly in the corner, watching this odd scene.

After several rounds of drinking, someone brought up playing truth or dare.

After a few turns, I lost.

“Since Luna failed, then it should be something interesting!” A tipsy Beta laughed out loud. “Why not tell a secret that nobody knows!”

Lucius lightly moved the champagne in his glass, letting out a cold smile.

“What hidden thing could Rosalie have that I do not already know?”

His eyes held playfulness, and his face looked a little drunk. “If Luna’s secret is not interesting enough, then I will openly give Wisteria one request, how about that?”

Wisteria made a soft, teasing sound, her fingers slowly moving on Lucius’s chest. “Alpha, you are too much. This will make Rosalie unable to respond.”

“She?” Lucius lightly laughed. “She is Luna; someone in a high place would not care about such a small thing?”

While talking, he closely picked up Wisteria’s cup, and drank it in one swallow along the lipstick mark she left.

The Betas around seemed not to agree with what he did; their eyes toward me showed sympathy.

I raised my head, met his eyes, my voice calm.

“My secret is, after a few days, I will give Lucius and Wisteria a big gift.”

Chapter 7

The entire place dropped into a dead quiet.

Lucius’s face looked very pleased; he likely thought that I had finally learned to be generous.

“Looks like my Luna has at last matured, becoming reasonable in a way that surprises others.”

He turned and lightly touched Wisteria’s back. “Did you hear? After two days, when your fetal energy becomes stable, go and perform her father’s surgery. Then, our family will celebrate well.”

Wisteria leaned into his arms, nodding in obedience, a brief flash of cruelty passing through her eyes.

I coldly laughed. Lucius still did not realize that my adoptive father was already resting inside a cold coffin.

Very early the next day, the sky looked dark.

I wore a simple long dress, planning to go to the cemetery to place a bouquet for my father.

Before going out, I purposely opened the safe, wanting to wear the keepsake my father had left me, a moonstone bracelet.

But the safe held nothing.

I hurriedly looked through every part of the room, but the bracelet could not be found anywhere.

I quickly opened my phone, planning to send Lucius a message, but I first saw a new selfie posted by Wisteria.

In the picture, on her thin wrist was that very familiar moonstone bracelet.

The caption said, [Alpha said this old item is best to protect the child and me. Thank you for his care.]

I felt my mind break apart like being hit hard.

This bracelet was a precious item given by the old Alpha after my father gained military merit.

At that time, his body was full of injuries, yet he gently placed the bracelet on me, saying that as long as I liked it, even if he died in battle, it would be worth it.

And now, this bracelet was on the wrist of the woman who led to my father’s death.

I hurried into Lucius’s study, opening the door without a knock.

Lucius sat behind the desk, dealing with documents, when he saw me rush in; his eyebrows tightened. “So careless, where is Luna’s proper behavior?”

“Return the bracelet to me!” My whole body shook. “That is what my father left for me, what right do you have to give it to Wisteria?”

Lucius pressed his temples; his voice showed impatience.

“It is only a bracelet, Wisteria will spend her strength later to treat your father, you are not even willing to give such a small thing?”

Treat my father?

Because Wisteria refused to help him, my father had already lost his life alone.

Now she even wanted to take the final thing I owned.

“Lucius.” I looked at him, letting out a cold laugh. “Your so-called treatment will never happen.”

The impatience on Lucius’s face became stronger. Just as he was about to ask more, the study door was slowly pushed open.

It was Wisteria; she looked even softer and more fragile, the moonstone bracelet on her wrist giving off a cold light.

“Sorry… did I interrupt?” Her eyes quickly turned red, one hand resting on her lower belly. “I heard Rosalie speaking very loudly; the baby seemed to have been scared, moving very strongly.”

“Stop pretending, return the bracelet to me!”

Wisteria stepped back slightly, lifting the hand with the bracelet. “Alpha said this item can calm the mind and help sleep; it is good for the child. You already have everything, can you not let me keep this?”

“Return it to me!” I moved forward, stretching my hand, trying to grab it directly.

Wisteria suddenly cried out, her foot lost grip, and her entire body fell toward the window.

Lucius responded fast and held her, and that moonstone bracelet slid from her thin wrist, flying straight out of the window.

“No!”

I shouted in pain, but it was already too late.

Chapter 8

That moonstone bracelet broke apart into several pieces, becoming dull and common stones.

I slowly straightened up, turning my head to look at Lucius.

“Lucius, that was the last thing my father left for me.” My voice was calm in a way that felt frightening.

Seeing me like this, a small sign of worry appeared in Lucius’s eyes.

He slightly pulled at his collar, sounding annoyed. “Fine, it is only a bracelet. After Wisteria treats your father, he surely will not care about this one bracelet.”

“Yes.”

I lightly laughed

“Lucius, you are right. My father… he really will not mind anymore.”

I did not look at them again, bearing the pain in my leg that was not healed, limping out of the study.

Behind me, I faintly heard Lucius give an impatient, cold sound. “Strange, really spoiled by me.”

I lay still on the bed, letting my tears dry, watching the view outside change from the bright sun to the rising moon.

Tonight was the full moon night.

Based on what Lucius’s mother, Ingrid, said, as long as I reached the altar where we made the mate bond on time, I could fully end things with Lucius.

And the cost was, in my body, pain like muscles being pulled apart and bones being scraped.

But I didn’t care.

Forcing myself to keep going, I went to the altar by myself.

This was the place where five years earlier, Lucius, in front of the whole pack, said he made a mate bond with me.

He said I was the only Luna in his life, and he would make me the happiest she-wolf in the world.

Sadly, the one who broke my happiness now was also him.

Following the priest’s guidance, I knelt on the cold stone steps, cut my fingertip, letting the blood fall onto the altar.

“I, Rosalie, reject Alpha Lucius as my mate.”

Three seconds later, a pain I couldn’t describe suddenly shot through my whole body.

It was like countless knives tearing through my body, forcefully pulling apart the souls that had been bound between Lucius and me for five years.

At the same time, Lucius, who was touching Wisteria’s ankle in the bedroom, suddenly went pale.

He clutched his chest and let out a suppressed groan.

That gentle presence, once deeply tied to his soul and belonging only to me, was slowly disappearing.

“Rosalie?”

Lucius’s pupils shrank as he ignored Wisteria’s voice and rushed toward my room like a madman.

But he was met with complete silence.

“Rosalie! Come out! Don’t disappear on me!”

Lucius shouted at the empty room, his whole body trembling.

“She will never appear again.”

Ingrid leaned on her staff and slowly walked closer, her face mixed with different feelings.

“Mother?” Lucius looked like he had found hope. “Where is she? I can feel the bond breaking! What did she do?!”

“She only went to the altar and ended the mate bond with you.”

“Hmm, I already told you your choice is poor, picking someone so weak who only holds you back. Now she finally used her head a little and chose to leave by herself.”

Lucius stood as if struck by thunder, whispering without focus, “No… her father is still in the treatment center, how could she dare…”

Ingrid moved her head, looking at her son with a hard-to-read look. “You didn’t know? Her father passed away one month ago.”
