The Jilted Luna's Revenge Chapter 1

The grand hall of the Thistle Thorne pack was eerily silent. The usual hum of pack life—laughter, chatter, and the warmth of camaraderie—was replaced by an oppressive stillness. The once vibrant stone walls now seemed to echo with suspicion and distrust. Lunaclaire stood in the center of the room, her silver hair catching the faint moonlight streaming through the high, arching windows. Her heart pounded in her chest as the eyes of the pack, the wolves she had protected and cared for, bore into her with disdain and suspicion.

“Explain yourself, Luna!” Elder Matthias barked, his voice trembling with a mix of anger and fear. His gnarled hands shook as he pointed an accusing finger at her. “How is it that the enemy knew our movements so precisely? How is it that you, our Luna, survived unscathed while so many of our warriors perished?”

Lunaclaire’s hands trembled at her sides, her chest tightening with emotion. She opened her mouth, but the words felt stuck, as if they could not escape. Finally, she spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. “I… I don’t know how they knew. I swear to you, I would never betray this pack. I would never—”

“Enough!” Alpha Raphael Cameron’s voice sliced through the air like a blade, sharp and unyielding. His dark eyes, once filled with warmth and love for her, were now cold, empty, and full of judgment. He took a step forward, his tall figure looming over her like a storm cloud. The weight of his gaze was suffocating, and Lunaclaire’s breath hitched in her throat.

“The evidence speaks for itself, Lunaclaire,” Raphael continued, his voice thick with bitterness. “The map with our patrol routes was found in your chambers. The enemy’s ambush was too calculated, too precise to be a coincidence.”

Her heart sank further into her chest. The map. The very thing she had feared. She had never seen it before, never held it in her hands, yet it had been discovered among her belongings. It was as if her entire world had been upended in an instant, the trust she had spent years building reduced to nothing.

She searched Raphael’s gaze desperately, hoping to find even a flicker of the love they had shared. But there was nothing. Only coldness, anger, and an unspoken accusation.

“Raphael,” she pleaded, her voice cracking with raw emotion. “You know me. You know my heart. I would never do this to you, to us, to the pack. I’ve been framed, please, believe me.”

The silence that followed was suffocating. Raphael’s jaw tightened, and for a brief moment, Lunaclaire thought she saw a flicker of doubt in his eyes, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. The bond they had shared, the one that had once been their strength, now felt like a chain dragging him into a pit of doubt.

“I cannot put the pack at risk,” Raphael finally said, his tone resolute and final. “As Alpha, my first duty is to protect my people. And as a mate…” He paused, his gaze hardening. “I cannot overlook this betrayal.”

Lunaclaire’s breath caught in her throat. “No… you can’t mean—”

“I, Alpha Raphael Cameron,” he continued, his voice echoing with finality, “reject you, Lunaclaire, as my mate and Luna of the Thistle Thorne pack.”

The words hit her like a physical blow, stealing the breath from her lungs. The mate bond, the sacred connection that had once tied their souls together, began to sever, leaving her gasping for air. The pain was excruciating, a deep, unrelenting ache that coursed through her chest. Her knees buckled, and she stumbled, but she forced herself to stand.

Tears blurred her vision as the whispers of the pack grew louder, their judgment absolute. The pain of rejection was nothing compared to the devastation she felt at being abandoned by the very people she had loved and served. They watched her with expressions ranging from pity to satisfaction, their silence louder than any words.

“That isn’t all,” Raphael added, his voice laced with something darker. Lunaclaire’s heart stopped as he stepped aside, revealing a tall, stunning woman standing at his side. The woman’s golden hair shimmered in the moonlight, and her sharp green eyes locked onto Lunaclaire’s with a glint of superiority.

“This is Serena,” Raphael said coldly, his arm wrapping possessively around the woman’s waist. “She is my true mate, chosen by the Moon Goddess herself.”

Lunaclaire’s world tilted. Her heart shattered into a thousand pieces as she stared at Serena, her once-beloved mate now standing with someone else, someone who was supposedly his "true" mate. “How could you… so soon?” Lunaclaire whispered, her voice barely audible, a mix of disbelief and pain.

“The bond we shared was not fated,” Raphael replied without hesitation, his tone distant and cold. “It was a mistake. And now, I have been granted the true connection I was always meant to have.”

Serena smirked, her lips curling in a smug expression as she stepped closer to Lunaclaire. “Don’t take it personally,” she said, her voice sweet but laced with malice. “Some bonds simply aren’t meant to last.”

Lunaclaire could feel the weight of the pack’s eyes on her, their gazes filled with judgment. Some looked at her with pity, others with cold detachment, as if she were already forgotten. Betrayed not just by her mate, but by the pack she had devoted her life to. Her fists clenched at her sides, and for a brief moment, she thought she might break, might crumble under the weight of it all. But she didn’t. She wouldn’t.

“If this is what you’ve decided,” she said, her voice trembling but filled with a quiet strength, “then I will leave. But know this, Raphael: the truth always comes to light.”

Raphael said nothing as she turned her back on him and the pack, her steps heavy but determined. The doors to the hall slammed shut behind her, cutting her off from the only home she had ever known, from everything she had once held dear.

The cold night air greeted her like an old enemy, biting at her skin, but Lunaclaire didn’t flinch. She whispered to herself, her words barely audible over the wind, “I will prove my innocence… no matter what it takes.”
