Chapter 2

Flashback.

Flashback:

Crystal Moon conference room:

“I can’t believe you brought that thieving heffa here; you know damn well I don’t like her Mina.” Ji’lahni said angrily looking at an unphased Lucky. “This isn’t about you right now; you didn’t ask me how I felt about bringing Trixie here. I didn’t like her ass either, but I knew she was your best friend so I dealt with it.” Mina said standing up to Ji’lahni, she didn’t have a comeback because Mina was right she didn’t say anything or even asked Mina how she felt about it. “Fine but I’m telling you right now Lucky, keep your fucking hands-off people’s shit, somebody will be watching your ass 24/7.” Ji’lahni said, going to stand in from of Lucky who was smiling. “Lahni I am here to help you, Mina called me. I didn’t come here to be treated like some common thief.” Lucky said in fake anger. “Bitch you are a thief.” Ji’lahni shot back.

“Yea, but ain’t shit common about me, and honestly I don’t even know why you still hate me.” Lucky said, standing in from Ji’lahni. Lucky was used to Ji’lahni’s attitude, it never use to bother her. But that was a long time ago and now she don’t understand why Ji’lahni was still mad. When they were kids Ji’lahni thought that she was a bad influence on Mina. But Lucky never allowed Mina to do anything bad, no matter how many times Mina asked. The one and only time Mina was with her, was when she got a job to steal a car. Mina followed he and waited until she got in the car, Mina Jumped into the car like she was on the dukes of hazard. That was the first and last time she was ever caught. She was so busy trying to get Mina out of the car she didn’t see the cops sneak up on them.

When the police called Ji’lahni she assumed that Lucky was the one that got Mina into trouble. She didn’t want her best friend to get in trouble so she took the blame. And ever since than Ji’lahni always turned her nose up at her. They were teenagers then, so she didn’t know why Ji’lahni was still carrying that anger. “You know damn well why I don’t like you. Every time you are around Mina starts acting out getting caught up in your mess.” Ji’lahni responded. “Now wait a minute that is not fair we were kids; we have all grown adults now. I run a highly respectable recovery business.” Lucky said proudly.

“Oh, cut the shit Lucky! You steal what rich people want you to steal, then you rob them blind.” Ji’lahni, said crossing her arms. “That is untrue I do not rob people anymore. I am offended that you would even think that about me.” Lucky said, sadly. “Oh really? Ok than. CHARMS GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE AND BRING YOUR STASH!” Ji’lahni yelled into the room. Everybody frowned looking around because they didn’t see anyone else with the human. “NOW CHARMS!” Ji’lahni yelled again louder this time. “Alright, alright you don’t have to yell; you know that shit hurts my ears.” “WATCH YOUR DAMN MOUTH!” All three of the women, said at the same time. A small brown little girl with two fire red curly puffs in her head, who was the exact replica of Lucky. Lucky’s eyes matched her hair exactly. But the little girl had Shades on that hid her eyes. She came from under the table and walked over to Ji’lahni and placed the backpack on the table. Then ran to Ji’lahni wrapping her little arms around her waist for a hug.

Ji’lahni face lost her anger immediately as she picked up the girl and hugged tightly. “I thought I told you to stop letting your momma drag you on her crazy missions.” Ji’lahni said as she held the little girl in her arms. “I know, but you know momma would get arrested and then who would buy me the latest barbie dream house and all the barbie dolls I want.” The little girl said with a shrug, before wiggling down and going to hug Mina who picked her up. Ji’lahni grabbed the backpack off the table and pour out of all the stuff in it. They had books, strolls, antique weapons, and they even took a painting of what looked like it was more than hundred years old no doubt a painting of their ancestors in wolf form. “Damnit Lucky what the hell, I asked you to come help me and you come here stealing people’s shit.” Mina said, shaking her head, hugging Charms tightly. “Hey, you didn’t tell me all the details about what you wanted me to do. I usually have to prove myself to my clients so they know that I am the best at my job. I wasn’t going to take any of this stuff it was a demonstration. And for god sakes put Charms down, she is not a baby. You, Shawna, Lahni, and Trixie has spoiled her enough.” Lucky said reaching for the little girl who hugged Mina tighter, as Mina turned out of Lucky’s reach.

“ENOUGH! I’m sorry Mina but I can’t allow someone like this into my pack. We have enough problems to deal with and if she is who my mate says she is than she could have the authorities after her surrounding our pack as we speak. That would put us all in danger.” Makahi said, nodding to one of his men to escort the woman out. Mina put Charms down and went to Ji’lahni. “What the hell cousin, you know she is the only one who can help us find Shawna and Trixie. You know we don’t have a lot of time to find them, we need Lucky.” “Wait a minute, is that why you asked me to come here? What happened to Shawna and how do you think I can help?” Lucky asked, ripping her arm away from one of the men who were escorting her and her daughter out. Ji’lahni’s shoulders sagged because she knew Mina was right.

Alpha Makahi saw his mate was barely holding it together and wouldn’t be able to tell this woman what they were up against, turning to Lucky, “Shawna and Trixie has been kidnapped by Human hunters lead by someone named The Doc. The last time we found him, it was through Trixie’s connections. But now that she is one of the ones who were kidnapped. We don’t have any way of finding out where this hunter organization is. Even if we manage to find the place, no doubt he will have the place hidden and locked up tight with every form of security known to man which will make it nearly impossible to get in.” Makahi said, looking at his mate as her and Mina’s eyes grew wide before turning to look at Lucky. “Uh, I know damn well he didn’t just say impossible right in my face.” Lucky said, angry for the first time since she got there. “He did that momma.” Charms said, looking at Makahi like he said a bad word. Just like Trixie hated liars, Lucky hated the word impossible being said in her.

Flashback continued.

Flashback continued:

“Mina, you know how I feel about that damn word. Nothing is impossible especially when it comes to me. I have never met a place that I couldn’t get into. I feel like that should have been established when I got into their secret volt even with all the security they had in place.” Lucky said, proudly. “I’m glad you brought it up, just how did you manage to bypass all my security and the protection spe…I mean the facial recognition, fingerprint, and blood ID we have in place? We paid millions to protect our most valuable possessions.” Makahi asked blocking Lucky’s path to the exits. Lucky just shrugged, “I guess you could say I’m just Lucky.” Lucky said with a smile. Makahi didn’t know what to make of the little woman and her child, but right now she was our only option in finding Shawna and Trixie before Soko’s people do.

End of flashback…..

Somewhere in an abandon underground cave:

“Can you please stop with the screaming and tell me what the hell is going on and where the hell are we?” I said trying to understand what the hell is going on. I had a killer headache, I’m naked, and smell like smoke. I am trying to remember what happened and how I ended up here, but I’m drawing a blank. It’s like a fog covering my brain and these kids aren’t making it better with all the damn screaming. Wait a minute, “What do you mean you saw me burn? Like I was on fire? I don’t have any burns on my body so obviously I wasn’t on fire or the flames didn’t touch me.” I said, frowning at the small girls waiting to hear if they were lying.

“Lady, I know what I saw. We all saw you burst into flames and your body was a pile of ashes over there. Look behind you, those are your ashes. Those other bodies have burn marks and burns on them, but you’re the only one naked and has soot all over your body.” The little girl said pointing at something behind me. I frowned confused about everything she said because none of it was a lie. Somebody else is in here with me? I didn’t even notice when I woke up all I heard was the little girls talking. I turned to look at who else was in here maybe they knew what the hell is going on. The person head their backs to me, so I couldn’t see who it was but there was something familiar about them.

“Hey, wake up can you tell me what the hell is going on?” I asked, walking over towards them when they didn’t bother answering. As I got closer I could see the person’s hair telling me it was a woman but there was something I couldn’t put my finger on but all of a sudden my heart began to race, as I tried to remember what happened, but I just couldn’t remember. When I got close enough to touch her my hand began to tremble. I grabbed her shoulder and shook it. “Hey, wake up, are you alright?” “No, she was dead just like you were there’s no heartbeat.” One of the girls said. I looked back at them frowning again, then turned back to the woman. Something told me I didn’t want to know who it was, but I needed to find out what the hell was going on.

Those kids thought I was dead but I’m not, which is obvious. Something happened, but what those kids were saying had to be wrong. They might have thought they knew what happened but they were only kids. So, I need to check on this lady, she may need help. I reached for her again and this time I pulled her by the shoulder and fell backwards looking into the eyes of…… Shawna and the small little boy who head was poking out from the collar of her shirt their eyes burned holes into my soul. I couldn’t hold back the heart wrenching sob that escaped my throat. Looking into her unfocued eyes, I relived everything that happened. I remember trying to get her and a baby wolf out of that underground warehouse. But something happened and the building collapsed, and then nothing. I woke up here and now looking into Shawna’s soulless eyes realizing that I had failed her. Her boys would be without a mother they wouldn’t know how loving and funny she was. They wouldn’t get to feel a mothers love. I failed them because I couldn’t save Shawna.

I went to Shawna picking her up into my arms which was difficult but I managed to lift her enough to bury my head into the crook of her neck, I cried and rocked with her in my arms for I don’t know how long. The pain that I always tried to avoid was weighing me down. I couldn’t run away from this sadness, because it was my own so I just let the pain take over and cried for everything those boys lost because I failed. “Hey, you need to quiet down before the doc hears you. They think that you were dead, if he find out you are still alive he might do you like he did those dudes over there. I hear one of the girls say, I didn’t look at them or even acknowledge they said anything.

I didn’t care who heard me, as a matter of fact I want them to hear me. Because along with this pain there was anger and I wanted to fuck someone up and the perfect person would be this doc he did this he brought us here to do god knows what. But he will have to kill me before I allow him to do anything to me or those kids. Closing my eyes as more tears fell. “Shawna I’m so sorry, I will get you outta here and I will take you to your family. I promise.” I whispered as more tears fell from my eyes. “I wish you would get me outta here without your nasty as snot on my damn neck.” I heard a small voice say coughing. “You got snot on your neck but I have her slob on my hair that isn’t going to come out.” Another small voice say. My eyes widen as I pulled back to look into Shawna’s eyes now full of life where there was only death a moment ago. “What the hell is going on around here.” One of the girls said in shock. “Watch your mouth!” Shawna and Trixie said, before they laughed.

Chapter 4

Atlantis.

Atlantis Mermedic:

“You have scoured every book and have come up with nothing. When are you going to realize that you need to let her go back to the surface. She has to be near her mate and start the mating process there is no other way around it.” The doc said, as Triton sat at his daughter’s bedside. He knew the doc was right but he didn’t want his daughter to end up like him or even worse her mother. “It has to be another way; I am the Ocean God I should be the one to save my own daughter. I created all of this.” Triton yelled as the ocean floored trembled.

“Yes you created all of us but even you know something are beyond your control. the King of the gods is the one who controls all things. You have chosen mates knowing they had mermates out there. But you can’t control what is happening to the princess you tried but just like her mother she was stubborn she didn’t allow you to take away her right to find her mermate. You need to let her go.” The doc said placing his hand on the ocean god’s shoulder.

“No! I have one more book that I can check, it’s bound to have the answers I need. I just need to retrieve it.” Triton said, his eyes lighten up with hope. He hadn’t thought about that book in thousands of years. “What book? How do you know it will have the answers you need?” The Doc asked confused, and doubtful. “Long ago before our father left this realm. He gave me, The Moon Goddess, and the Dragon God a book and a key. He called the book of knowledge. He said we were never to open the books. We were to hide each book in a safe place until he returns. The only way to open each book is with the three keys. They need to be inserted at the same exact time and turned simultaneously. I just need to go and retrieve the book and go to the other realms and get the other keys than I should be able to use the book to save Oceanna. I must leave at once; you keep her alive until I return I don’t care what you have to do you keep her alive.” Triton commanded and The doc bowed his head nodded unable to do anything else when his god commanded him.

Once the ocean god left the doc went look at the princess his heart ached for her. She was like a daughter to him he never had children of his own. One day when she was a little girl she had broken her arm. By her being so small and half human she didn’t heal like the other. Once he healed her she asked him why didn’t he have children. He told her he wasn’t lucky enough to have a beautiful daughter like her. She smiled and said that she would be his daughter until he had his own. But she couldn’t call him daddy because that would make her father sad. She said she had to give him a secret name and her forehead crinkled as she thought hard about his new name. She swam around in excitement once she thought of his name. he laughed and asked her what name she came up with, she smiled. I will call you pop and she called him that ever since. He smiled at the memory as a tear floated away with the water.

“Hey doc, how is she? I just saw the Ocean God leave he seemed really excited.” Warlus asked coming into the room. He has been coming everyday to check on the princess. “No there is no change. The Ocean God is still hopeful that he will find something to save her. But I am afraid he isn’t thinking rationally. There is only one way to save her, and I’m afraid that the Ocean God won’t realize that until it’s too late.” The doc said, his shoulders sagging at the realization. He needed to do something, he knows that doing this will cost him his life but if that meant that his princess gets to live and be happy then he would die knowing he did the right thing.

Turning to Warlus, “I will tell you a story and you have to vow to never speak of this to anyone. If you do you will be killed by the Ocean God. I am telling you this knowing that it is signing my Death warrant. But this is the only way to save the princess. Once I tell you this you will need to take her back to her human family and shifters.” The doc said, now pacing his heart racing at his decision. “Doc I’m confused what are you talking about. Why do I need to take Oceanna back to the surface. She said that her father is the only one who could save her.” Warlus said, frowning. “The only one that can save her is her Mermate. I want to tell you a story of a God and his human mate.” The doc said, sitting down to tell the young merman the story he never told anyone. “So, you’re telling me that we all have mermates? Why would the Ocean God take away our mermate?” Warlus asked angrily. The doc sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“The Ocean God feels that find our mermates will lead to our extinction. When he lost Oceanna’s mother it nearly killed him. He felt that if we ever had to suffer such a lost we would die. He never wanted us to suffer as he did, so he decided to pick our mates before we could ever meet our mermates. That way if something happens to the mates he picked for us we would still feel pain but it would never be fatal. I know you have more question be we don’t have time. You need to take Oceanna back to the surface before the Ocean God returns. But have to do this secretly no one can see you leave. Once you ensures that she is near her mate you will need to return unnoticed.” “How will I know when she is near her mate?” Warlus asked, feeling a small twinge of jealousy. He was hoping that he still had a chance of mating Oceanna once she recovers, but now he knew it would never happened. He also thought that this was for the best. Now that he knew about mermates he wanted to know if his mate was somewhere in one of the other ocean kingdoms. He decided that once he returns he will set out on a secret mission to find his mermate. He left the Mermedic to prepare to go to the surface once again.
