Chapter 4

Besides, I had already been creating my 5th book.

I didn't need to worry about food and drink.

My cell phone rang and I saw it was my mom calling.

After I picked up the phone, she didn't mention that child at all, only speaking politely and flatteringly.

After listening for a few minutes, I got annoyed. No matter how ignorant I was, I understood that she wanted to talk to me about something.

I held my forehead and said, "Just tell me what you want to say."

She hesitated for a long time before saying, "Your father and I have discussed moving to Birmingham, because it is a first-tier city with good educational resources."

"Can you let us move into the house you bought first? You should be living in the dormitory, right?"

Her last sentence sounded like self-consolation, but I never told her that I lived in the dormitory.

"No way! You two can come, but bringing that nuisance along is impossible."

"Unless you clearly explain his origins to me. I don't believe what you said that day."

They were all selfish people, and they couldn't suddenly be kind enough to adopt orphans, especially since they had no income.

My mother was silent for a while and then suddenly hung up the phone.

I didn't care what other tricks they try to use. What was mine anyway would always be mine. I earned it myself.

What surprised me was that not long after that, my mother asked me which school was good in Birmingham.

I thought they would give up, but I didn't expect that she directly sold the house in our hometown and raised money to buy a house in Birmingham.

I was so angry when I found out about that, because they didn't treat me like that in the past.

That made me more suspicious of the child's identity.

I couldn't say much about them selling their house, so I could only help them find an agent and hand over the transaction to the agent.

Soon I got the news that even if they sold their house they could only barely raise enough for the down payment, let alone a school district house, which was simply fanciful.

Raising a child was not as easy as they thought.

But troubles also followed. When they failed to achieve their goal, they began to threaten me, saying that they would still buy a house in Birmingham even if they had to take out a loan.

I didn't know what that child can bring to them to make them sacrifice so much.

But I wouldn't fall for their tricks. As long as I didn't inherit their property, I wouldn't be responsible for their debts.

Faced with my tough attitude, they had no choice.

They finally rent a house temporarily.

As long as I had no morals, they couldn't blackmail me.

A coffee shop outside the community.

I sat in my seat unhappily looking at the entrance.

It was really interesting that today a woman claiming to be my elder sister called me.

She knew every detail of my parents and their current situation.

And she asked me to meet at the cafe at two o'clock.

I couldn't help but associate her with that child.

But my parents had never mentioned that I had a sister.

While I was looking down at my phone, a woman in a floral dress suddenly sat opposite me.

At first glance, I knew she was not lying.

She had a pure appearance, with watery eyes and an extremely white neck.

But as a girl, I could see through her affectation at a glance.

My intuition told me that her asking me to come here was definitely not a good thing.

The fact was exactly as I had thought.

As soon as she sat down, before I could say anything, her eyes were filled with tears and she called me ''dear younger sister" softly.

Chapter 5

She held my hand and said to me with deep emotion, "I am an incompetent sister. I didn't know your existence for so many years. I was absent from your life."

I was embarrassed. It would be a disaster if she were involved in my life.

She was truly our parents' daughter, because she acted exactly like them.

I thought I should check if I was lost. I really didn't fit in with this family of three.

I pulled my hand away from her tight grasp unnaturally.

"How did you get lost in the first place?"

She paused, noticing that I was staring at her intently, and then smiled and said, "I was ignorant at that time and was abducted."

"Well, let's not talk about the sad things before. I'm so happy that I can meet you in my lifetime."

I ignored her attempt to change the topic.

I asked directly, "Is John my nephew?"

I thought I may have really talked a sensitive spot for her, and she actually started crying in public.

"Joanna, could you please stop talking about my unhappy life? I really came here to reminisce with you."

We had no old times at all! There was nothing for us to talk about.

That was so hilarious.

When I noticed that she refused to mention anything about what happened before, I immediately changed my attitude.

Taking the initiative to hold her hand, I said, "My dear sister, I'm so sorry, and it's my fault. It's just because that I just met you for the first time, and you're really a stranger."

"By the way, have our parents told you that they are going to buy a house in Birmingham? Dear, please help me persuade them. I really have no money now. I hope my parents can understand me."

"I have seven or eight boyfriends, and I am almost bankrupt. I also have to give living expenses to parents every month. I am so anxious that my hair is falling out in clumps."

She might have been surprised and embarrassed when she heard me mention my seven or eight boyfriends.

She said awkwardly, "Why do you have so many boyfriends? It's better for you to focus on our family. Our parents are old and in poor health. It would be better for you to spend more money on them."

She was back with her son, so no matter how much I give them, she would use the money.
