Chapter 1

My father is the High God of the Sun, and my mother is the Empress of the Moon.

Ever since I was born, they’ve had two suitors lined up for me.

First, there’s Sol, the God of Dawn. He rules the Temple of Light and controls everything warm and bright in this world.

Then there’s Karnos, the Shadow Sovereign. He rules the Dark Realm with a power so absolute it makes the other gods tremble.

On the day of my Millennium Awakening, whichever man I choose as my husband will become the Supreme Ruler of the entire Divine Realm.

Without a second thought, I chose Karnos. The crowd went dead silent.

Everyone was losing their minds because I’d been head-over-heels for Sol since we were kids. I’d even sworn an oath that I’d never marry anyone but him.

But what they don't know is that in my past life, I did marry Sol. And on our very first night as husband and wife, he crawled into bed with my maid, Lilith.

When the news broke, Lilith was banished to the mortal world.

Sol never forgave me for that. He blamed me for her exile. After I got pregnant, he started bringing a different goddess home every single night, forcing me to watch while they were intimate right in front of me.

It got worse. On the day I went into labor, he intentionally sent away every single healing deity. He ignored my screams and pleas for help, leaving me and my unborn child to die in absolute agony.

So, now that I’ve been reborn, I’ve decided to let him have his "true love." I’m walking away and choosing Karnos instead.

But there’s one thing I didn’t count on...

Sol remembered everything, too.

"Three days from now is your Millennium Awakening ceremony. Have you thought about which fiancé you want to marry?"

"No matter who you choose, we will have him inherit both divine systems and become the Supreme God who rules the entire Divine Realm."

Opening my eyes once more, two divine seals appeared before me.

They were the tokens of the two suitors my parents had chosen for me since I was a child.

One was Sol’s Seal of Light, and the other was Karnos’s Shadow Sigil.

In my past life, I loved Sol deeply and chose to marry him without a second thought, only to be tortured to death by him in the end.

Now that I’ve been reborn, I pointed to the other seal without a moment's hesitation: Karnos.

Since Sol is so unwilling to marry me, then this time, I will grant him his wish.

...

Three days before the Millennium Awakening, I strolled through the mortal marketplace.

The scent of roasted meat and mulled wine permeated the air, and merchants were shouting, hawking their wares.

Only by breathing in the mundane smoke and fire of the mortal world could I realize that I had truly been reborn.

I never expected to run into Sol and his brothers, the divine messengers.

Seeing my appearance, Sol’s brothers let out strange jeers.

"Sol, isn't this your little shadow? Why is she here?"

"It seems she really can't leave you for a single second. As soon as she heard you were in the mortal realm, she came looking for you on her own initiative!"

When Sol saw me, he immediately knitted his brows.

"Why are you here?"

In my previous life, his attitude toward me was always this impatient, as if he were treating the lowliest servant.

The ridiculous thing was, I didn't see his true face until the very moment I died.

I answered calmly: "The mortal realm belongs to all gods. I have the right to walk these streets."

Everyone’s expression turned to shock.

After all, everyone knew I had loved Sol since I was young and was practically at his beck and call.

This was the first time I dared to defy him in public.

Sol was also stunned, a look of disbelief on his face.

Right then, Lilith appeared.

She was wearing a plain white divine robe and looked pure and simple.

The moment she saw me, a flash of panic and fear crossed her face.

"Goddess Lyra, why are you here? Today is my hundredth birthday; Sol just wanted to celebrate with me. If you don't like it, I'll leave right now. Please don't let this affect your relationship."

As she turned to leave, she dramatically tripped.

Sol caught her instantly, his arms expertly encircling her with protective tenderness.

"Lilith, you are only her handmaid, not her slave," he said, his voice full of protective warmth. "You have no need to fear her."

Saying this, he shot me a vicious glare and said with dissatisfaction: "Do you see? Just because of your appearance, Lilith didn't even dare to celebrate her own hundredth birthday and almost sprained her ankle! And you still say you aren't here to cause trouble?"

Looking at their intimate posture, my heart felt no waves at all. "I have no interest in making a scene. I came here today just to clear my head. After all, three days from now is my Millennium Awakening ceremony. At that time, I will choose my eternal partner and govern the Divine Realm with him."

As soon as these words came out, Sol froze, only then remembering that my ceremony was approaching.

My father is the High Lord of the Sun system, and my mother is the Lady Sovereign of the Moon system.

They had chosen two suitors for me since childhood and declared that on the day of my Millennium Awakening, whomever I chose to marry would take over the authority of both systems and become the Supreme God.

The others didn't hesitate and began congratulating Sol one after another.

"Sol, it looks like you will soon inherit the authority of the Sun and Moon. Congratulations!"

"Once you control the entire Divine Realm, don't forget about us!"

Sol's expression softened quite a bit, but looking at the "pitiful" Lilith in his arms, he still glared at me and warned: "Even if you marry me then, don't even think about bullying Lilith. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind letting tragedy repeat itself!"

Let tragedy repeat itself?

My heart jolted. I didn't expect Sol to say something like that.

Could it be that he has also been reborn?

Sol didn't wait for my response. He picked Lilith up in his arms and strode away, leaving me standing alone in the crowded market.

I watched their retreating backs, a cold smile surfacing at the corners of my mouth.

Go ahead, Sol. Enjoy your freedom to your heart’s content.

Because this time, the person I choose will definitely not be you.

Chapter 2

Three days later, my Millennium Awakening ceremony was held as scheduled.

However, very few people came forward to congratulate me.

On the contrary, Sol was surrounded by a crowd of divine nobles, everyone fawning over him.

"After tonight, you will take over the authority of the Sun and Moon systems," a mortal king said flatteringly. "Should I address you as High Lord Sol?"

"I hope that after you take over, you will consider extending our family’s ancient contract," a fairy queen said softly.

"I brought a gift for Lilith," an Elven lord bowed deeply, "to express our gratitude for your... for her special attention."

They weren't just flattering Sol; they were also sucking up to Lilith.

She pretended to be surprised as she opened the gift, covering her mouth with her hand.

Inside lay a starlight necklace, every gemstone pulsing with starlight energy.

"Oh, this is too precious!" she exclaimed. "Tonight is Goddess Lyra’s awakening ceremony; this should be given to her, not me."

Sol smiled dotingly. "What does it matter? After I marry her, I will inherit the authority of the Sun and Moon systems. I will have the final say in everything! Let me put it on for you."

He fastened the necklace for her, and she gazed at him with adoration.

I watched all of this from a distance, only feeling that it was somewhat laughable.

In my previous life, I was truly blind not to see their illicit affair.

Fortunately, Heaven gave me the chance to live again.

This time, I will never repeat the same mistake.

Perhaps sensing my gaze, Sol looked toward me.

He frowned and instinctively shielded Lilith behind him, as if he were worried I would rush up to tear them apart.

But I ignored him, simply turning to converse with other goddesses.

Not long after, Sol appeared behind me, his tone carrying a hint of satisfaction: "I didn't expect you to finally grow up and stop making things difficult for Lilith. Tell me, what reward do you want?"

I looked at him coldly. "I don't want anything."

He laughed, filled with disbelief. "You think your little act will make me want you more? You've been begging for my attention since you were a child."

"Don't worry," he continued, his eyes sweeping over me. "I will uphold our marriage contract. Tonight, you can come to my bedchamber. If you serve me well, I might even let you carry my child."

At the mention of a child, a surge of pain hit me—my unborn child, who died in that cold room along with me.

"I will never bear a child for you," I said calmly.

He approached, reaching out to put his arm around my waist. I smelled the floral scent of Lilith on his skin and saw a faint lipstick mark on his collar.

"Enough, Sol," I took a step back. "Show some respect."

He froze, then sneered. "Respect? You spent centuries fawning over me. Everyone knows you are my loyal worshiper. Now you suddenly want dignity?"

I looked at him firmly. "Who said I was going to marry you?"

Chapter 3

"If you don't marry me, who else can you marry?"

Sol found it hilarious. "Could it be Karnos? You surely know his methods for dealing with women, don't you? For the past few hundred years, any goddess who got close to him has disappeared. Do you really want to become the bride of the Shadow Sovereign?"

My parents had chosen two suitors for me since I was young.

One was Sol, the God of Dawn in the Temple of Dawn, in charge of all light and warmth.

The other was Karnos, the Dark Lord who ruled the Shadow Realm, whose power made even the oldest gods tremble.

Everyone knew Karnos had a brutal personality. Not only were his methods against enemies cruel, but he also showed no mercy toward goddesses.

It was said that those who provoked him were either exiled to the Void or trapped forever in the Shadow Abyss.

The High Lords of the entire Divine Realm did not want their daughters to marry such a devil.

I said indifferently, "Even marrying a devil is better than marrying you."

After speaking, I turned to leave.

Seeing my resolute attitude, Sol couldn't believe it, and a hint of panic actually rose in his heart.

He instinctively blocked my path and demanded: "What do you mean?!"

"Are you still bothered by the matter between me and Lilith? Haven't I already said I would marry you? Stop throwing a tantrum with me!"

Sol frowned, his tone carrying irritation: "Lyra, my patience is limited. If you continue to be so willful, don't blame me for publicly rejecting you when the time comes!"

Even now, he still thinks I'm just throwing a tantrum?

He doesn't know that the one choosing to reject isn't him, but me.

Just as I was about to answer, Lilith appeared, her eyes wide as she feigned worry.

"Sol, Lyra—are you fighting because of me?"

Lilith looked at me with a face full of guilt: "It's all my fault. I shouldn't have accepted this starlight necklace just now. I'll return it to Goddess Lyra immediately."

Saying this, Lilith took off the necklace from her neck.

Sol stopped her. "It's yours. You deserve it. You're too kind, always letting her bully you."

"It's okay." Lilith’s tone was piteous. "I am a handmaid in Goddess Lyra’s temple; I've been used to obeying her since I was young. Moreover, tonight is her awakening ceremony; I don't want her to be sad."

Saying this, Lilith walked toward me with the necklace: "Goddess Lyra, let me help you put on the necklace."

However, in a corner where Sol couldn't see, her expression turned smug. She lowered her voice and mocked: "Do you see? Lyra, so what if you are the daughter of the Sun God and the Moon Empress? Your beloved Sol only likes me! You will never compare to me! I won't let you have a good time at today's ceremony. Just you wait!"

After speaking, Lilith suddenly let out a loud cry and fell toward the ground.

"Ah!" she screamed, saying in disbelief: "Goddess Lyra, I only wanted to put the necklace on you, why did you push me? Do you hate me that much?"

Seeing this, Sol immediately rushed forward and took Lilith into his arms.

His eyes were full of fury as he barked: "Lyra, you've gone too far! I know you are usually arrogant and willful and like to bully the servants under you, but I didn't expect that with so many people at today's ceremony, you would dare to lay hands on Lilith in public! Apologize to her immediately!"

"I didn't push her," I explained coldly. "She fell down herself."

But then, without giving him a chance to doubt, Lilith said piteously: "Goddess Lyra, do you mean to say I intentionally framed you? I am just a tiny handmaid; where would I get such courage?"

"Is that so?" My tone carried mockery. "I see you've never treated yourself as a handmaid, but rather as Sol’s Divine Queen? Why don't we just change my awakening ceremony directly into your wedding scene today?"

Sol became increasingly annoyed: "Enough, Lyra! No more insulting Lilith!"

As he spoke, he raised his hand, intending to give me a slap.

But in the next second, that slap did not land on my face.

A tall figure blocked the way in front of me, stopping Sol’s hand...

Looking at the familiar yet strange back in front of me, my heart suddenly skipped a beat.

In the next moment, I heard the people around me exclaim: "It's Karnos! Why is Karnos here?!"
