The Bitterest Sugar Is the Hope You Gave Chapter 1

I begged my boyfriend, who I had been in a relationship with for seven years, to marry me, just to fulfill the dying wish of my grandma with cancer.

Reluctantly, he agreed.

But at the wedding, he changes his mind on the spot and leaves me behind.

My grandmother, filled with anger, passed away.

The next day, his childhood sweetheart posted a loving photo of the two of them on Facebook.

[Forced marriages don't last. I'm his only sweetheart.]

Everyone who knows the truth pities me for being sincerely deceived.

I wiped my tears and smiled coldly, giving a like and commenting. [Bitch and Bastard, forever and ever!]

Andre White's phone rang when the vicar asked him if he was willing to marry me.

My body trembled involuntarily.

I knew the wedding was over when I heard Laura Miller's voice coming from the phone.

Indeed, Andre hung up the phone and said, "Laura fell and hurt her leg, I can't leave her alone," and left in big strides, leaving me alone at the wedding ceremony.

My grandma couldn't bear such a blow and had a sudden cardiac arrest.

I didn't cry or make a scene. I dismissed the guests and dealt with my grandma's affairs alone.

In the seven years we were together, Andre was called away by Laura's phone too many times.

But this time, I didn't have the energy to argue or make a scene.

I spent two days with Grandma's grave before returning home.

Andre was cooking in the kitchen.

The fish slices were thin and even, on par with the hotel chef's skills.

I was surprised that he actually had such good knife skills.

We had been together for seven years and lived together for three years, but he had never cooked for me.

I thought he couldn't cook.

Now it seemed that he could cook, but I was not worthy of eating his cooking.

He stared at me for a moment before putting down the knife and complaining, "Why didn't you tell me you were coming back? If you had, I wouldn't have had to cook."

He then took off his apron and threw it at me, "Laura has a weak stomach and can't go hungry. Hurry up."

The tone of his voice seemed to blame me for coming back too late and making his Laura hungry.

I didn't pick it up, letting the apron fall to the ground.

He frowned displeased, "Renee Moss, what are you up to again?"

That tone seemed to treat me as a woman who liked to make trouble for no reason.

At this time, Laura, dressed in my pajamas, walked out of the guest room, bending down to pick up the apron, looking like a sweet wife. She put her arms through Andre's waist, seeming to hug him and tie the apron on for him.

She tilted her head and looked at me with an innocent smile.

"Renee, I'm sorry. I was in a bad mood that day and had a drink, which hurt my leg. Andre was worried about me, but I didn't know you two got married that day."

My gaze fell on her bare leg beneath her nightgown, with a cartoon bandage on her ankle.

Was this what she meant by hurting her leg?

And Andre left the wedding ceremony just because she had such a minor injury?

Suddenly, I felt like seven years of my life had been wasted.

The death of my grandmother and my heartbreak were not as important as Laura's injured skin on her ankle.

I didn't want this man anymore.

"Andre, let's break up," I said.
