Amelia
I parked in front of the house, my heart beating fast but steady with anger. The address from the anonymous message matched the number on the wall. I walked up to the door, knocked once, then pushed it open when it swung lightly.
I froze when I got inside, Declan was inside, sitting comfortably on a couch with Monica, the woman he introduced to me as his cousin, straddling his lap. Her lipstick was smeared on his neck, her shirt halfway unbuttoned. They both jerked in surprise when they saw me.
Declan didn't even bother moving, He just looked at me with the same bored face he used ever since I decided to keep my pregnancy.
"Oh, you are here," he said flatly, as if I were a delivery person who arrived too early.
Monica smirked and stood up from his lap, "I am not sorry it took you this long to find out, Declan was mine first, he only married you to boost his fashion career. He is the father of my seven year old son, just so you know we have been together long before he met you."
I blinked surprised at her confession, "Monica, I even confided in you about Declan's infidelity, those nights when he wasn't home, I would call you and cry and you would listen and comfort me." I said my voice was breaking.
She shrugs, "those nights, he was in my arms, listening to you pour your heart out, and we both laughed at you once you hung up, Oh, poor, foolish and desperate Amelia. So blind to the truth."
I turned towards Declan, confused, hurt and a crying mess, "is this true, you used me and came here to hide after everything that happened?"
He scoffed, leaning back comfortably. "Hiding? Please, Amelia. I have been living comfortably and happily." He said as he smacked Monica's ass hard and they both chuckled.
I looked at him, my voice barely above a whisper. "You left me at the hospital, you dumped us." My eyes welled up with tears as I asked, "Did you know our daughter died?" My vision blurred, and a sob caught in my throat.
He rolled his eyes. "Here we go again. Blackmailing, I know she died, so what? Didn't I tell you I didn't want a child in the first place?"
I stared at him in disbelief. No empathy, no guilt, nothing. How did I end up with such a vile man?I had been so blinded then.
After everything I have done for you, this is how you repay me?" My voice came out in a whisper, barely holding itself together.
"Exactly." Declan rose from his seat and walked toward me, stopping so close I could feel the coldness radiating off him. His eyes were empty. "I used you," he said plainly. "I never loved you. I only put up with you all these years. And the worst part of being married to you?" He scoffed. "Having sex with you. You disgust me. I only forced myself because I needed you to keep sponsoring my career."
My throat tightened. "You used me," I said, shaking. "Everything I did, I did out of love. My family warned me about you, but I didn't listen because I loved you."
"You should have listened to them," he snapped. "And don't even get me started on your family, acting like you are some saint when you are no better than me. Should have told them how wild you really are, the weed, getting high just to get fucked, the aphrodisiacs, you can't survive without any of it." He smirked. "Imagine a child with a woman like you."
The same things he threw at me were the very things he once claimed he adored, the things he said made us perfect for each other.
"You used to love those things about me," I said softly, though the words didn't matter anymore. Tears burned behind my eyes. "But you could have saved our daughter, Declan. If not for me, then at least for humanity's sake. You left her there to die, how cruel can you be?"
He laughed in my face.
"Save that wench and have something tying us together for life? Absolutely not. Better she dies so our chapter ends forever."
He shrugged, amusement twisting his features.
"Annoying little brat, no self-love, just like her mother. I only tolerated her because I hadn't achieved my goal yet. Now I am finally free from both of you."
His laughter echoed, and Monica joined him.
Something snapped inside me, I didn't plan it, My hand moved before my mind did.
I grabbed the flower vase on the table beside me and swung it with all the strength I had left.
It crashed against the side of his head. Declan's eyes went wide for a second before his body collapsed to the floor with a heavy thud. Monica in the room screamed and backed away, but all I could do was stand there, breathing hard, my hand still shaking around the broken vase. Declan wasn't moving.

I sat across from Adele in the tiny visitation room, my face so swollen I could barely see properly. Two weeks here felt like two years. My whole body throbbed with bruises.
Adele's eyes widened the moment she saw me. She covered her mouth like she might scream.
"What did you even do to deserve this cruel treatment?" she asked, her voice trembling.
I shook my head slowly. "I don't know. It feels like they purposely pick on me or someone told them to. They beat me anytime they want, for anything."
I tried to smile, but it cracked into something painful instead. Maybe this was the punishment I deserved for murdering my husband. Just two weeks inside these walls and I had already wished a thousand times that I could wind back the clock.
My life was wrecked by the single mistake of marrying that beast. Losing him wasn't even the beginning of my problems. First, I was kicked out of my own company. Then investigators discovered a massive loan taken out in my name, but I never signed anything. Declan had forged the documents, taken the money, and spent it. He didn't stop there, he cleared out our joint account, leaving me with nothing but debt and now a murder charge hanging over my head.
"What do we do now?" Adele asked, panic rising. "Your account is empty, your jewelry is gone, your land deeds gone. That man drained you. How all those things vanished after his death is a mystery."
"My housekeeper would never take them," I said. "Could someone have broken in? But even then, why take documents? And who cleared my accounts?" My stomach twisted. "Something is very wrong."
"You know what, sell the house. The documents are with my parents. Please, Adele do anything to save me. If I stay here longer, I will die."
Adele's eyes filled. She held my bruised hand gently.
"I promise. I'll do everything I can. You are not dying here."
✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿
The guard called my name, and my heart leaped. Adele must have news about the house. Maybe, finally something was going right.
But when I stepped into the visitation room, it wasn't Adele waiting for me.It was my mother.
One look at her face and my knees almost buckled, when she saw me her eyes went wide, I could barely see with an eye.
"Mum? Where's Adele?"
She swallowed hard. "Baby, Adele is dead."
The room spun, "What do you mean gone?" My voice cracked. "Gone where?"
"She caught her husband cheating," my mother whispered. "They argued, he pushed her. She hit her head and died before the ambulance arrived."
I stared at her, unable to breathe, stared at her, feeling the ground tilt under me. Adele, my only friend, the one person desperate to save me.
"What about the house?" I asked finally, "She was supposed to sell the house. Please tell me she gave you the documents."
"And the house..." My mother's voice cracked. "The bank took it. They claimed it against the loan in your name. There's nothing left to sell."
The world around me blurred, realising that every lifeline I had was gone.

That night, I couldn't close my eyes, Adele's death replayed in my mind over and over until my chest ached with every breath. I curled on the thin mattress, trembling, wishing for morning. It feels like this darkness is eating me up.
The cell door clicked, I froze cause it wasn't time for rounds.
Three inmates slipped in, the same women who had been tormenting me since the day I arrived.
My heart sank, I quickly sat up, " Please not tonight," I whispered.
Something in me felt like they were here for their usual beating, I looked at one of their hands and she was holding a knife.
"You should have just learnt to let go, take your L in peace," one of them muttered.
"I didn't do anything," I said, scrambling back until my spine hit the wall.
"That's the problem," another said. "Someone wants you gone."
Before I could scream, the first blow landed hard, crushing my breath. I tasted blood instantly. They dragged me off the mattress and onto the cold floor, fists raining down on both sides of my face, my ribs, my stomach.
Then something sharp pressed against my skin, I jerked, but two of them held me down.
The third leaned close, her voice a whisper. "This is from outside."
The blade slid in cold fire tearing through my side.
I gasped, eyes wide, then another stab, they kept stabbing me. Hot blood pooled beneath me, spreading fast. I tried to speak, to beg, to scream, but only choking sounds came out.
My vision dimmed as their footsteps retreated, the cell door closing quietly behind them like nothing had happened.
The ceiling above me blurred. My fingers twitched weakly against the floor. All I could think was that I never got to say goodbye.
The only thing that kept replaying in my
mind was, I curse the day I met Declan, I wish I could get my revenge even in death.
Then everything went blank.

Amelia
The first thing I felt was warm, clean air. Not the damp, metallic smell of the prison. I opened my eyes slowly, expecting darkness, but instead I saw bright light, flowers, and people sitting in rows. I blinked hard. Where was I?
Wedding music played in the background, my heartbeat picked up as I looked around, trying to make sense of it. This wasn't the prison, I literally just died in prison. Is this heaven? I looked around, confused, because this place felt familiar. This garden, I knew it well, I have been here before.
This was Adele's wedding, how the hell was that possible? Was my mind playing tricks on me? Was I reliving my past before going to hell?
My eyes dropped to my hand, and I almost jerked out of my seat. Declan was holding it, this was real. He was sitting right beside me like nothing was wrong. Like he hadn't destroyed my life. Like I hadn't died because of everything connected to him.
I snatched my hand away immediately and bolted out of the seat. I had been reborn. Three years earlier, I put my hand over my mouth in shock. I had been given a second chance.
My hands were shaking too much. I touched my face, no swelling, no bruises. I checked my side, no wound. I was whole, and somehow back in the past.
I looked around and saw everyone staring at me like I was acting weird. I looked toward the front. Adele was standing there in her wedding dress, staring at me nervously while her makeup artist adjusted her veil.
Declan leaned toward me and whispered, "Amelia, what are you doing? Sit down, do you want to ruin your friend's wedding?"
Of course I was going to ruin my best friend's wedding. I couldn't let her marry a man who would end up killing her. But what could I say to make Adele believe me right now without sounding completely crazy?
The pastor looked at me. "Is there a reason why you do not consent to their marriage, miss?"
My eyes went wide, so that was why everyone was murmuring and giving me those weird looks. God really has a sense of humor, because why would I come back at the exact moment she was about to say I do? I remembered in my previous life I was crying when she said it, but I know better now.
Declan frowned. "Amelia, what's the problem? Why are you trying to embarrass your friend?"
He tugged at my arm as I tried to walk toward the altar. "Amelia, sit down. What are you doing?"
I pulled my arm out of his grip. "I need to talk to Adele," I said, my voice shaking.
I walked forward, and Adele met me halfway.
"What's wrong, Amy? Why are you trying to ruin my happy moment? We planned this together." Adele clutched her bouquet to her chest, panic clear on her face.
"I swear to you, I am not crazy. I just, I got a second chance at life, and if I explain it, you will probably think I'm crazy. But please, do not go ahead with this wedding."
Adele looked at me like I had grown horns. "Girl, what are you even saying? You got a second chance? We literally just finished smoking weed before coming here. Are you sure you are not high?" she asked, looking around like someone should come save her from me.
"Listen to me. Do you trust me?" I asked. She nodded. "Then you know I would never do anything to ruin your life. If you go ahead and marry Killian, you will die on this same day three years from now. It sounds crazy, but it's real."
"I trust you, but you are not making sense, Amelia. I can't call off my wedding because of your speculation. I need actual proof," Adele said.
Jesus. How was I supposed to prove something like this with no evidence? I thought for some seconds, ahh Yes, Declan and Killian were best friends, and in my former life I had seen those freaky chats between them about the girls they slept with.
"Check Killian's phone. The chat between him and Declan, there has to be something there," I said.
Adele marched back to where Killian was standing and asked for his phone. He refused at first, insisting he wasn't handing it over, but he eventually gave it to her. She scrolled, and her eyes went wide. I rushed to her side, she handed me the phone, and sure enough, there were disgusting chats between him and Declan.
"You have been cheating on me! You even said you are only with me because of the money," she spat, shouting at him. They argued for a few moments, Killian trying to beg her, that it was a mistake.
She pulled off her ring and threw it at him. I grabbed her hand and tried to drag her out of the garden with me.
Declan stepped in front of me. "Babe, what did Killian do to deserve such cruel treatment?" he asked. I looked at him with pure disdain.
He looked humble right now, but I knew exactly who he was, the desperate fashion designer dating me only because he wanted me to fund his career, drain all my money, ruin me, and eventually have me murdered.
I stepped closer to him. "I don't care what you or Killian feel, but as for me and you? It's over."
"Wait, what? Because Adele broke up with Killian? What does that have to do with us?" he asked.
"Everything. I don't want anything to do with you again. Don't come to my house, my company, or anywhere near me. This is the end. Go find someone else to leech off, okay?"
Declan stared at me for a long moment, like he was trying to process that I was serious.
"You really mean that?" he asked, like he thought I was joking.
"I really mean it," I said, stepping back. "I am done. Don't follow me, don't call me, don't even look for me."
He shook his head slowly, like he didn't fully believe it, but I didn't give him a chance to argue. I grabbed Adele's hand, and we walked out of the garden together, leaving both Killian, Declan and the guests standing there.

Amelia
Once we left the venue, Adele and I stepped onto the street, scanning for a taxi. The sun hung low, casting long shadows across the bustling city. Cars passed, people chatted, the city moving on as if nothing had happened.
Adele's makeup was already ruined from tears, but I felt nothing but a strange, exhilarating gratitude. Finally, a second chance. And with it, the thought of revenge. Every pain I had endured, the loss of my daughter, losing my womb, having everything I owned stripped from me, and finally, being killed in prison was now fuel.
I was sure if Adele could see what I had seen, she wouldn't be mourning Killian. She wouldbe asking to hit the club with me, celebrating life instead of grieving.
"Whatever crazy long story you have got, I want to hear it now. Somehow, it doesn't sound so crazy anymore," Adele said, her voice soft but curious.
I shook my head at her. "If I told you, you wouldn't believe me. But if you had seen what I saw you wouldn't cry over Killian, girl. You'd be asking us to celebrate at the club immediately."
Her eyebrows arched in concern. "How bad was it? I won't judge you. Please, tell me. Maybe it will put my mind at ease a bit," she said, before I could respond.
"I will give you a lift," a voice called out. I turned to see Jake, who happened to be Adele's cousin and was also at the wedding, waving at us. "I am heading whatever way you are heading."
We accepted gratefully and jumped into his car. Adele slumped beside me, still clutching her bouquet. I snatched it from her and tossed it out the window. "Girl, you don't need that anymore," I said.
"Can we please not go home? I don't want to sulk there or face my mom, she is going to rub it in my face that she told me he was a gold digger," Adele sobbed. I pulled her close, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
"Then we should hit the club. That's the only place that could blow off this steam," I said.
Jake cleared his throat and glanced at us with a grin. "So, if you guys are in, I was supposed to skip the crazy biker party tonight because of your wedding. But thanks to, uh the wedding crashing, here I am, heading back to the event."
Jake gets it, he knows how we like to live. Adele and I have never been the type to just settle down. We have never looked forward to weddings, motherhood, until we met those demons, we were just wild girls in our late twenties, chasing nights full of parties, clubs, biker events, and fashion shows, until they happened.
Our weekends were spent in clubs, smoking weed, chasing nights that blurred into early mornings. But when the weekdays came, I became the CEO of Davis Realtors, my parents' company, a business I had helped build and turned into one of the top firms in the city.
We met Declan and Killian, it was just a fling at first. Declan insisted there was more, and as an explorer at heart, I tried to see where it could go until it led to that doomed marriage.
I raised an eyebrow. "Biker party?"
"Oh, I know you guys live for that kind of excitement," Jake said with a laugh, turning the car toward the outskirts of the city. "You know that hot Trillionaire, Maxwell Sinclair, is going to be there today. That's what makes it worth it."
"Now I definitely want to attend," Adele said, lifting her head from my shoulder.
Jake and I chuckled. "You are sure going to enjoy tonight's race, you will barely even remember you just dumped someone at the altar."
Adele and I shot him a pointed look, "I apologize, that was insensitive," he said, grinning, of course typical Jake, says things without thinking.
"You do realize you are going to look crazy if you show up at the event in a wedding dress, right? Let's stop at a boutique and get you something more appropriate," Jake said with a grin.
He suggested a boutique he knew catered to biker crowds and we headed there.
When we arrived, the boutique was packed with biker-friendly clothing, leather jackets, ripped denim, bold prints, and edgy accessories. "Try these," Jake said, tossing us a few jackets and tops.
We slipped into the changing rooms, trying on new looks and laughing at how different we felt. When we finally stepped out, dressed in bold, biker-ready outfits, we were almost unrecognizable from the broken girls who had just left a wedding.
We left the boutique and headed straight to the biker event, engines rumbled and music blasted from massive speakers. The scene was alive with energy, leather jackets, tattoos, roaring bikes racing and performing stunts, people shouting and laughing over the chaos. Smoke from exhausts mingled with the rich smell of barbecue from a nearby food stand, creating an intoxicating blend of adrenaline and celebration.
Adele and I grabbed two drinks from a stall, something fizzy and strong, then wandered closer to the main crowd. She laughed, spinning around, her hair catching the lights from the stage. "This is insane!" she yelled over the noise.
"I know," I said, feeling my own adrenaline spike. "From a solemn 'I do' wedding to this wild, chaotic event, I missed when we used to live like this. Gosh, we almost got trapped back there."
We found a spot near the edge of the stage, where bikers and spectators kept gathering. A group of riders revved their bikes in sync, daring each other to perform stunts. One guy launched into a wheelie, cheering as the crowd went wild. Adele clapped, and I couldn't help but laugh along. The chaos was infectious.
Suddenly, the crowd erupted into chanting. I turned and saw Maxwell Sinclair. Tall, impossibly handsome, dressed in pristine leather that somehow made him look so hot and untouchable. He was one of the richest men in New York, if not the richest, having inherited his parents' company at a young age and taken it to the top.
By his side was his stunning wife, smiling and waving at everyone as the crowd cheered their love. I sipped my drink, feeling a flicker of something dark and calculating stir inside me. If only they knew or if only Maxwell knew.
I turned to look at Adele, she was drunk, So far gone she couldn't even see what was happening right in front of her. I grabbed my phone and called Jake, telling him I needed him to drop Adele at home. He was furious at first, swearing under his breath, but eventually he agreed.
When they left, I turned my attention back to the stage and there she was. The woman Killian had been cheating on Adele with, smiling lovingly at her powerful husband while she destroyed someone else's life behind closed doors.
After addressing the crowd, Maxwell announced that his wife had another event to attend, and the two of them stepped down from the stage.
I smiled, because I knew she wasn't attending any event.
She was heading straight to meet Killian, she must have already heard the wedding was off.
I slipped my hand into my purse, fingers brushing the small bottle of aphrodisiac drops I had planned to use at the reception. I was going to slip it into Declan's drink so we could sneak into a bathroom and have wild, reckless sex like we used to.
The thought of that now made my stomach turn, but the thought of using it on Rhea Sinclair's perfect husband Maxwell Sinclair thrilled me more than anything.
It was payback time.
