MICHELLE’s POV.
The moment I set my eyes on them, my heart skips a beat hoping that neither of them heard what I have discussed with the doctor.
My heart is beating fast against my ribcage as the two of them walk up to us.
“Hello sir” the doctor stands up with respect, “I wasn’t expecting you”
“I brought my fiancée for a check up” Nicholas announces and I gulped while the doctor looks at me for a split second. I am sure he must understand why I have begged him not to allow Nicolas in on what is happening.
“But it seems you have a visitor” Natalia begins to speak, her eyes rolling to the back of her head and her face looking as expressionless as it can be. I understand the fact that she hates me and I don’t like her either, not when she is responsible for breaking my life into a thousand pieces.
“I was just about to leave” I finally find my voice and turn to
the doctor, “I will give you a call”
“Why are you at the doctor?” Nicholas’s voice filters into my ear and I freeze for a moment. He can not find that I am pregnant or having troubles with the pregnancy”
“I don’t think that is in your place to ask me, Nicholas” I push my body out of the chair, “you came with your fiancée to get a check up done, you should focus on that”
I am pained, the anger is beginning to brew inside of me. The more I look at both of them, the more furious I get. How dare he ask me that question when he is standing with my sister after divorcing me.
Nicholas turns to the doctor and with a dark gaze, he orders.
“Can you give us a little time to talk?”
“Of course sir”
He grabs a small book before scurrying out of the room. Everyone knows Nicholas and it is stupid to want to mess with him.
As soon as the door closes behind the doctor, he returns his gaze to me. His eyes spilling enough hate venom and I am forced to wonder if this is the same man I married three years ago. Nicholas changed, he changed for the worse and I don’t know who his change has affected most, I didn’t know if it was me or my unborn baby.
“I didn’t expect to find you here, Michele,” he begins to speak.
“I am forced to wonder if you are stalking us”
I open my mouth to say something and this is when a sharp pain erupts inside of me and I clutch onto my stomach as the pain intensifies. It feels like a thousand volts of electricity is surging through my body and with each passing minute, the pain grows.
Tears well up in my eyes and the two of them continue to stare back at me holding on to my stomach.
“Are you pretending so Nicholas will care for you?” Her voice filters into my ear but I completely ignore her and grab my bag. I need to leave before Nicholas discovers anything is wrong.
Not sparing any of them another look, I turn around and make to leave but Nicholas yanks at my hand and I fall limply into his embrace. For a moment I am lost in his eyes, the eyes of the man I once fell in love with, the eyes of the ruthless alpha and what more? His cologne reminds me of the beautiful days we spent together. On those nights when he becomes my only source of happiness and strength, on the days when Nicholas makes me feel like a queen. How did we get here! How did he allow Natalia back into our lives and even got her pregnant. No matter how I think about it, I still can not see a justification for his actions. He hurt me and I am going to hold onto that hurt for as long as I can.
“I am not done talking to you, Mish” my name rolls out of his lips and I feel disgusted, how dare he utter my name? How dare he?
Even with the lingering pain, I gently shove him off and move farther away from him.
“Please do not touch me like that in the future”
“What future?” Natalia sounds very upset, “why don’t you just disappear from the face of the earth?” She snaps and turns to Nicholas, “you should let her leave, she is making me angry”
I watch her grab his hand in a sensual manner and my inside churn, I have never seen a most despicable woman like my elder sister.
The pain cuss through me again and hastily I walk away. I don’t want them to see the tears that well up in my eyes and the pain emanating from the gazes I send them.
As soon as I slam the door shut, I grab onto the wall and the tears begin to fall. The tears of my pain and my heartbreak all join together to fall off my cheeks. At a time like this, I wish my mother was alive, she would have held me to her bosom and told me everything will be fine.
“Ma’am” a nurse walks up to me, “are you okay?”
“Yes” I lie through the skin of my teeth, my voice as low as it can be so no one hears me.
Flashing her a false smile, I slowly make my way out of the hospital towards the entrance.
I am thinking of getting a small apartment for now since I can not keep staying at the hotel. It is overly expensive and I am too angry and proud to take the alimony from Nicholas. I don’t want him to ever think that I depend on him, I am going to make a life for myself without his help.
Just as I try to flag down a taxi, a blue Audi comes to an abrupt stop in front of me and due to the intensity of its noise, I immediately feel dizzy and everything goes pitch black.
ENZO’s POV,
I have just brought the car to a sudden halt in front of the hospital when the lady who is standing away from my car collapses.
I rush out of the car and run towards her but by now she is already unconscious.
Cussing silently, I gather her up in my arms and rush towards the hospital.
I just arrived from the airport and I didn’t get a chance to go to my hotel before rushing to the hospital, apparently the patient waiting for me was getting worse.
As soon as I enter the hospital, a group of doctors rush towards them and they all look surprised seeing me with a lady in my arms, i am also surprised myself but this is not the time for that.
“Doctor Enzo” the hospital director bows lightly as he walks up to me.
“Put her on bed rest and administer some medicine for her, she passed out just now. I will come to see hee after my operation”
“Yes doctor”
With one last look at the lady who is being wheeled away, I hasten towards the elevator. Time is of the essence now and I don’t want to waste it.
I flew in from Los Angeles because a patient of mine suffered a hemorrhage in the brain despite having stage three cancer which we have been managing for a while now. She had come to Beverly Hills for a family function and ended up relapsing and I had to come over here, she couldn’t be transported back to Los Angeles.
“What is the status of the patient?” I ask as we make our way out of the elevator but before he can answer me, someone brushes past me and I can immediately feel it.
I turn to look at him and immediately I don’t like his face and he doesn’t look like he likes mine either.
“Why don’t you watch your way?” He growls while holding onto the hands of the woman he is with. For a moment, it makes me remember the lady from earlier.
“You obviously didn’t look ahead of you before walking
towards me”
“What?”
“Have a nice day”
After talking, I turn around and walk away. I don’t have the time to chit chat with a total stranger whose energy I don’t like.
“Tell me doctor smith, the status of the patient”
“Doctor Enzo, she has been in a coma for over three hours now and we have been stabilizing her condition with a high dose of epinephrine but I am afraid we can not do more. If the surgery goes bad, we might actually lose her”
I heave a sigh, I hated surgeries such as this.
“Let’s make this one quick” I say after a while before we hurry into the theater.

It is exactly seven hours after the operation has finally come to an end and I saunter out of the theater. I have never been more exhausted in my life than I am now.
“Doctor” the hospital director walks up to me, “i have prepared the condo at the top, you can take a shower and some rest there. Everything is new so you don’t have to worry”
“Thank you”
This is not the first time in the hospital so I know all about their hospitality and I genuinely need the rest right now.
I make to move but halt on impulse when the thought of a certain someone winds its way into my head.
“And the lady?”
“We placed her on bed rest as you ordered doctor, she is taking a rest now”
“And her family members? Did anyone call to confirm?”
“Not at all, doctor”
Another sigh escapes my lips again as I massage the space between my brows.
“I will take some rest and come to see her later, Make sure to take good care of her”
“Of course sir”
With that, I turn around and walk away feeling all eyes on me which is certainly not the first time, I am already used to everything from the people of this hospital.

After taking a shower, I put on a casual pair of joggers and a T-shirt which is totally my style. The director sure knows how to pick my style out.
With one last look at the mirror, I make my way out of the condo into the hospital again. I won’t be at peace until I see that lady. It is safe to say she fainted because of me.
As soon as I venture into her ward, the doctor and nurses all turn to me with a bow.
The lady on the bed looks so fragile and this is when I notice the tear marks on her face, was she crying?
For a moment, I am drawn to her in a way I have not been drawn to anyone before, everything about her intrigued me and I can not take my eyes off of her. It seems like a kind of gravitational pull which I find hard to explain.
Clearing my throat, I turn to the doctor.
“What’s the status?”
“She fainted due to stress, doctor”
“I see” I stare at her for a split second, “anything else peculiar?”
“Not at all, doctor”he immediately answers
My eyes travel down her body and I notice the ring mark on her finger. I don't know why I feel disappointed at this realization, I wasn't expecting her to be married.
“And she is a few days pregnant” he says again and I gulp, I definitely didn’t expect this.
“Has any of her family members called?”
“No doctor” one of the nurses replies, “and her phone got damaged during the fall I guess, we are unable to contact anyone.
“I see, so I guess her doctor must be in this hospital then seeing she fainted in front of it.
“Yes doctor, doctor Mandy is her doctor and we have called him, I am personally aware of that”
“When he gets here, ask if he has any of her family member’s contact information, we should let them know their daughter or wife is here and…
My statement is cut short by the slight groans of someone.
“Stop talking so loudly” the lady on the bed laments and I immediately turn to her, for a moment I am stunned as her eyes flutter open.
MICHELLE’s POV.
The moment my eyes flutter open, I am shocked to see the man in front of my eyes. He has sharp features like Nicholas but his are more pronounced and his hazel eyes continue to stare back at me while his wavy hair is all over the place.
I can’t lie, I am lost for words. How can a man be this beautiful apart from Nicholas! Everything about him is just so perfect that I can not take my eyes off of him, why did he have such rosy lips? Is he a vampire perhaps?
A lot is going on in my head as I continue to stare at the angel in front of me forgetting that it was their noise that woke me up.
“You are up” his deep and hoarse voice reached my ears and I can feel a knot in my stomach, his voice is also one to die for. For a moment my mind drifts off to Nicholas and my mood immediately dampens the things he did to me.
“Who are you?” I ask him while pushing myself to a sitting position.
“I am a doctor” he answers with an eyebrow.
“How did I get in here?”
I use this opportunity to look around and I have never been in this part of the hospital before. The last thing I remembered was losing consciousness and that’s it, I don’t know what happened after then. Did he bring me into this room?
My eyes fly back to him again and I rest them on him waiting for an answer from him. Maybe I want to hear his voice again.
“You fainted in front of my car and I had no choice but to bring you in, your doctor will be here soon and he will check on you thoroughly. I heard you are pregnant, you should be more careful, you could have miscarried”
I gently hold onto my tummy and feel the little life growing inside of me; thank the moon goddess my baby is safe. I should be more careful in future, I can not put its life in danger again.
“Thank you so much, doctor” I finally find my voice, “I had a lot on my mind and that’s why”
“You should be careful for the safety of your kid, like I said”
“Of course I will”
After he is done, he turns around and walks out of the room much to my disappointment. I wish he stays but why? I don’t even know him, I don’t know his name and I don’t know anything about him. How can I possibly want him to stay longer?
“You should take some more rest, ma’am” the nurse tells me, “your doctor will be here soon”
“Thank you” I flash her a smile and the two of them walk away leaving me alone in the room.
My mind wanders off to Nicholas again and I heave a sigh, I should stay away from him at all cost. He is bad for me and my baby, I need to keep it safe. But how could he? How could he bring her to my doctor? The tears well up in my eyes but I quickly sniff them back. He was not worth shedding tears for anymore.
The door creaks open and doctor smith saunters in, he has a concerned look hovering above his face and i know why, he is very worried about me and I am glad.
The reason why I am so comfortable with him is because he is one of the pack members and he respects me a lot even up to this moment when Nicholas had cast me away.
“Sorry Luna, I should have come early”
“First of all, I am no longer your Luna doctor Smith, you should really come to terms with that. Didn’t you see? He brought his new wife to get checked by you and I think that is more than the evidence you need”
“Of course”hw bows lightly, “my apologies, let me check on the baby”
I pull myself back on the bed and close my eyes, I only want to take care of my unborn baby.
After a few minutes, he finishes and I pull my body to a sitting position again, before turning my attention to him.
“Is everything okay?”
“Yes, it is”
My lips curl into a smile, thank the moon goddess”
“But you need a lot of rest, you shouldn’t worry about anything and let me do the rest”
“Of course”
After I am done, something piques my interest and I turn to him again,
“Nicholas and Natalia, did you check on her?”
“Yes and her baby is doing well”
“Oh”
I am a bit disappointed, I don't know why I feel sad. Did I want something to happen to her? But it should have been me he came with, he should beg been with me bur he chose my sister instead. This is something I will never be able to forgive him for no matter what but that is a story for another day. I have to take care of my unborn child for now, the fact that I am unable to heal myself despite my abilities shows that I have to be extra careful and cautious with my pregnancy, I can not lose my baby no matter what.
Tears well up in my eyes but I quickly sniff it back, this is not the time to be weak, I have to be strong for my baby.
“You should take some more rest, I will call for a cab for you”
“Thank you doctor” I flash him a smile and he nods before walking away leaving me to my thoughts and my pain.

After about an hour, I finally decided to go home. I grab my bag and saunter out of the room and it is at this moment that I meet the doctor from earlier.
He is talking to a group of doctors and they all seem interested in what he is saying.
From the look of things, he is a well respected man.
I don’t know for how long I stood until he turns to me and his lips curl into a little smile.“You are ready to leave?” He asks while walking up to me.
“Yes” I answer, “I think I have taken enough rest, I should be on my way now”
“I see” he comes face to face with me, “you really look stressed, you shouldn’t do that. It isn’t good for the baby”
“I will keep that in mind, doctor”
There is something about him that I can not quite grasp, something intriguing yet dangerous and unsettling. Something I didn’t quite understand at the moment and I am not sure if I want to understand it.
“Well, I think I should get going now doctor. I don’t want to get into traffic”
“How about I drop you off?” He asks and my heart skips a beat, is he being serious?
“I don’t think that will be necessary, I don’t want to..
“Let’s go, Michelle” he rasps out and I am taken aback, he even knows my name.
“How do you…”
“We will talk on the way”
With a wink, he turns around and begins to walk towards the entrance leaving me standing dazed, did he do a background check on me so soon?
“Don’t keep me waiting, Michelle” he calls out to me and I gulp before walking towards him, a lot going on in my mind.
