MICHELLE’s POV.

The ride back to the hotel is unusually quiet, he keeps receiving calls and giving orders in a way I don’t even understand. At one time, he even flares up and I even flinch,he isn’t like his looks. He is much more different.

I am also not in the mood to start up a conversation so I just focus my attention on the road head and close my eyes. The thought of Nicholas and Natalia fills my heart and I can’t help but feel worse than I already feel.

The fact that he brought her to our personal doctor shows how much he wants to get rid of my thoughts and everything that concerns me. couldn’t even believe it when he ventured into the office with his hand snaked around her waist.

Nicholas is in a hurry to tell the world that we no longer belong together. It is painful yet disgusting, how could he do that to me? The more I think about it, the more furious I become.

“Kobo for your thoughts?” His voice filters into my ear and I abruptly turn to him, he is looking at me and he has a sleazy smile on his face.

He has the same kind of demeanor as Nicholas, they are both hard to decipher. They both smile a lot but underneath that facade, a storm is always looming.

For a moment I want to laugh at myself, I am actually thinking about Nicholas who I am not sure still thinks about me. It is not even up to a week and he looks like he has already moved on.

“No, thank you” I finally find my voice, “I prefer not to talk”

“You look like you have a lot on your mind, Michelle” he continues and a slight frown appears on my face.

“What do you mean?”

“First pregnancy?”

“Hmmm” I nod.

“That’s why, you look irritable, you should take a lot of rest”

“Can I ask you a question, doctor?” I turn my full attention to him and he nods with a smile on his face. I am left wondering what kind of a man he is, how can he smile all through like he has got no problem in life?

“Ask away”

“Why do you keep speaking to me casually like we know each other”

“Of course we do” he answers, “a wolf recognizes another wolf” he drops the bombshell and for a moment I am speechless. I was too preoccupied to even think of what he said back at the hospital but I can swear I felt a different aura from him when I woke up at the hospital.

“What?” I am still dumbfounded, “you…

“I recognized you the moment I set my eyes on you Michelle”

“Oh” I flash him a small smile, “I didn’t realize”

“You can’t if I don’t allow you know it”

I don’t say anything again and turn to the road ahead again. A lot is still going on in my head and I just want to rest my head and maybe get a few hours of sleep. Wolves are scattered all around the country and it is not a big deal to meet another one. Even my gynecologist at the hospital is a beta wolf, one who has made a name for himself.

The ride becomes silent again, he goes back to his calls while my mind drifts off to Nicholas again, tears well up my eyes as I remember the smile he had on his face when he walked into the doctor’s office.

“We are here” he announces after a while and that is when I jolt out of my train of thoughts, we are in front of the hotel.

I heave a sigh, “thank you so much doctor, I really appreciate your kind gesture towards me”

“Hmmm” he winks at me, “why are you staying at a hotel though?”

“Nothing much” I shrug, “I just want to stay here. Thank you again”

After I am done, I try to open the car door but his next words halt me.

“Are you hurt?”

“What do you mean?”

He shrugs, “I mean you had tear marks on your face earlier and you look tired, is something the matter?”

“You do not have to bother yourself with me, doctor. I am fine”

“Of course”

He opens the pigeon hole and hands me a card, there I see his name boldly written.

“I am also a psychiatrist and you can come to me for free consultations. I will be here for at least a week, I am hoping to see you, Michelle”

I stare down at the card for a while refusing to think about Nicholas at this time. I must look so deranged for a psychiatrist to give me his card. The thought of it makes me scoff, I must look like a joke now.

“Thank you doctor Enzo” I say after a while, “but I will not be needing it, I don’t a therapist”

With that, I drop the card back into the pigeon hole and nod at him,

“Thank you for the ride”

After that, I open the car door and alight before he can say anything again.

I watch his car drive off into the distance and a huge sigh leaves my lips, even a total stranger understands what I am going through. It is all because of Nicholas and my own sister, how can he do this to me?

Trudging through the entrance, I make my way towards my room and I am surprised to see my aunt standing beside my door and she looks worried. How did she even find me here?

“Aunt?” I call out to her and she turns her head towards me before rushing to me.

She envelopes me in a bear hug and I allow the tears to fall freely. Maybe I need it; maybe I need to cry all my pains out so I will not suffer anymore because this is killing me, it is making a mess of me. Seeing my mate and my husband with my own sister breaks my heart more each day.

I am not so sure If this is the will of the moon goddess but how do I tell her that I am already tired of the pain and the heartache this was causing me?

“How have you been, Michelle?” Aunt asks as she slowly disengages from me, her eyes are also full with tears and my heart breaks into a thousand pieces.

After my parents died, my aunt has been the one taking care of me and I see her as no less than a mother.

“How did you know I was here aunt?” I ask her, “I told you not to worry about me right?”

“How can I not worry about you, dear” she carrasses my cheeks lightly, “i have been worried since Nicholas announced Natalia as the new Luna of the pack, I kept wondering what you are up to”

“Aunt, I am fine” I force a smile over my sad face, “you know how strong I am right?”

“Liar”

She knows me too well and how I wished things were different.

“I promise aunt” the smile on my face intensifies, “I am about to be a mother so of course I am happy”

Her face changes drastically, she is surprised at my outburst.

“Are you pregnant?”

“Hmm” I nod.

“Really?” Her face breaks into a huge smile, “how long?”

“I just found out aunt”

“Does Nicholas know?”

“No” I answer with a painful smile, “I was about to tell him before he gave me the divorce papers” tears well up in my eyes at the mention of that again and my aunt draws me into her embrace again, she is also in tears.

“Then why don’t you tell him? Maybe he will leave Natalia and come back to you. You should..,

I immediately stop her, “no aunt, he can not know”

“Why? Her face creases into a slight frown, “you need to tell him”

“Nicholas doesn’t have the right to know, he lost it the day he made me sign the divorce papers and this is a secret I will take to my grave”

“Michelle” she tries to talk again but I halt her with a wave of my hand.

“Please aunt, I am not in the mood anymore. Come, we should talk more inside”

With that, I walk towards the door and open it before gesturing at her to come on. I am actually glad to see her but the pain in my heart will not let me show it.

ENZO’s POV.

After I drop her off and ride off, my mind keeps slipping back to her. The look on her face, the tears in her eyes and her overall demeanor. There is something about her that I can not quite describe, something about her keeps drawing me closer to her and I actually want to know what that is.

The moment I saw her, I knew she was a wolf. An omega for that matter, I could sense her energy and what she can do.

If she is such a strong wolf, why exactly was she crying? Why did she look so sad even at that?

My thoughts are interrupted when my mobile begins to ring and seeing the caller ID, I already know what’s up.

“Tell me” I say out loud as soon as I click on the receive button.

“The patient is already awake, doctor” the director’s voice filters into my ear.

“I am on my way back to the hospital, I will be there soon”

After ending the call, I press my leg against the accelerator and speed off.

Being a wolf and a doctor sure comes with its perks, it is safe to say that everyone in the world knows my name. Be it in my world or the world of humans, I am well known. One, for being the alpha of one of the most ruthless and most powerful packs and the second for being the best brain surgeon.

All this came to me on a platter of gold, I didn’t suffer for any but I am already getting used to the hospital walls and I am not particularly happy about that, it is a tiring profession I must say.

I push all these thoughts to the back of my head and speed towards the hospital, I can not let the patient I flew all the way from my city to die in my hands.

As soon as I bring my car to a halt, I alight and hasten towards the hospital, the director is already waiting for me and he doesn’t bother to ask a question before leading me towards the private elevator and into the patient’s vip room.

Some nurses and doctors are already in the room and all eyes turn to me as soon as I enter.

I walk up to the old man, his eyes are opened and he has a small smile on his face.

“You won’t let me die, Enzo” he begins to speak softly, “do you think you can keep me alive for much longer?”

“I will make you better, me Gonzales” I tell him and I mean it, even if it means I have to use the powers of my own world. I have known Gonzales since my school day and I can not just give up on him in such a manner

“You can not do too much for me, Enzo” he continues, the smile still on his face, “just let me die already so I can rest in peace”

“Aren't you making a nice joke?” I try to laugh it off but I the old man looks adamant as always.

“You have done enough for me, son” he says again, “now let me rest okay?”

I don’t say anything and continue to stare back at him, feeling numb to his own pains. Maybe because I am somewhat responsible for my father’s death.

Well, you can not blame me. He was no good an alpha to the pack and I had to end him.

“What about your family? Have you decided what to tell them?”

“You are our family doctor, Enzo. You should come up with something nice to tell them. I just want to rest without any worries now. I hope you can do this for me”

I smile back at him, “get some rest, I will arrange for your transfer tomorrow okay?”

“Hmmm”

With a nod, I make my way out of his room again.

Gonzales has been my patient for the longest of time. He was diagnosed with brain cancer a few years back but he refused surgery, we have to rely on drugs and emergency operations to keep him alive and I can genuinely feel his tiredness, no one likes to be in and out of the hospital every day.

My thoughts are cut off when I see doctor Mandy coming out of the gynecological laboratory and the thoughts of Michelle slowly make their way back into my head.

“Doctor Mandy” I call out to him and I feel him flinch in fear.

I scoff, he has always been this way.

“Doctor” he bows slowly.

“Why do you look like you have seen a ghost?” I ask with a raised eyebrow and he nods in the negative.

“Of course not, i just wasn’t expecting you back now since you went to drop one of the patients off”

A look of uncertainty appears on my face,

“About that, who is she?” I don’t know why I am suddenly interested in her but something inside of me keeps wondering about her. I don’t know if it is me or my wolf but I know I want to know what’s going on with her. Pregnant women are always happy for their baby but she looked extremely sad and unhappy.

“What do you mean, doctor?” Mandy asks me again, a weird smile lingering on his face.

“Tell me everything about her” I tell him again, “and I mean everything”

“She is a patient and her information is also protected under the hospital policy, I don't think I should be…

My eyes immediately darken at his outburst, I am suddenly getting upset.

“Come with me” I tell him before turning around and walking back towards his office.

After we both enter the office, I lower myself on his chair and gesture towards him to do the same.

When he is done sitting, I press forward against his glass table and a wicked smirk appears on my face.

“This will be the last time I will ask, doctor” my eyes continue to stare back at him, “tell me everything about her”

“But doctor…

“With a snap of my finger, you will be breaking fast with the moon goddess, don’t make me angry”

He heaves a sigh, a weak omega like him knows not to annoy me. He knows that too well.

Not to brag but I am one of the most ruthless alpha alive and Mandy knows it well, he knows not to mess with me.

“I don’t think you want to upset me, now do you?”

“She is pregnant” he begins to talk, “but her pregnancy is complicated. She has a tumor growing directly opposite her womb and it could potentially lead to her death. I have spoken to her to do an abortion but she insist on keeping the baby since she she has been looking for one for three years now”

This is like a bombshell to me, I didn’t expect this to be the reason why she looks so sad.

“And her husband?”

“They are divorced” Mandy answers, “and she doesn’t want him to know about the pregnancy or the tumor”

“Hmmm” I lean back against rne chair as her face winds its way into my head again. She is one of the stubborn types.

“Very well then” I push my body out of the chair, “thank you”

After that, I make to leave but he stops me again.

“You seem overly interested in her, doctor”

“Is that a problem?” I inquire with a raised brow.

“I just don’t think you want to concern yourself with things that do not matter”

I scoff again, “now that you have said it, I really want to concern myself with her”

Not bothering to wait for his response again, I hasten out of the office again before making my way towards the entrance. It seems like I need to see her again.

“You are overly interested in her” my wolf says to me and I clear my throat.

Of course I am, she has the most beautiful set of eyes I have ever seen.
