Chapter 1

My husband, Milo Davis, was hit by falling objects from high altitude and became a vegetable.

The doctor said that he only had a few days to live, and rescuing him would only deepen his suffering, which would not be meaningful.

Whether to give up or rescue again depended on the decision of the family.

I signed my full name on the intention letter for rescue.

Rescue! We must rescue him!

I definitely want to rescue him. How can I let Milo, this scum, leave this world comfortably and painlessly?

1.

My husband, Milo, was hit on the head by falling objects from high altitude and became a vegetable.

When I heard this news, I didn't feel sad at all. I just thought he deserved it!

The doctor diagnosed that he wouldn't live long. He asked me if I want to rescue Milo again at that time?

The doctor also said that further rescue would be of little significance and would only make him suffer more. He asked me to inform the other family members and prepare for the funeral.

I didn't lack this amount of money, and besides, I had deep feelings for him, so naturally I wanted to save him.

Sure enough, Milo couldn't hold on for more than two days and had his last rescue. But in the end, he still couldn't survive and didn't even qualify to be a vegetable.

Milo had a mistress before he died, which made me extremely angry. However, my anger disappeared instantly when I thought that after he died, I would receive a large amount of accidental insurance compensation.

I was still very glad that when I arranged insurance for him, I bought him a high amount of accidental insurance.

After I finished the matters regarding the accidental insurance, I made countless phone calls to my parents-in-law and my sister-in-law, Cathy, but they refused to answer.

There was no other way. The hospital didn't permit Milo to stay there, so I had to spend some money to let the funeral home staff take him to the crematorium.

I didn't bother to deal with his ashes. I spent some money to have the staff from the funeral home help find a place to store them. Out of sight, out of mind. It was worth the money.

After finishing all this, I took the moving company's staff to my parents-in-law's house, had them move out all the large items, and then had them pack up and throw all of their belongings at the doorstep.

Then, I changed the lock and called a cleaner to clean the house from top to bottom before registering it for sale through the real estate agency.

While doing this, I specifically asked the movers to record the whole process for me, so that I wouldn't have any trouble later. I didn't want to waste my breath on them..

I directly took all the large items to the second-hand market to sell. These things were also used by, Milo's mistress. I didn't want to recycle and reuse them because they were dirty.

Just as I finished dealing with this pile of garbage and returned to the front door of my house, I saw a woman standing there. She was none other than my long-lost sister-in-law, Cathy Davis.

As soon as Cathy saw me, she jumped in front of me and cursed loudly: "Joyce, you shameless slut, how dare you come to my parents' house to steal things! You even changed the lock. Don't you want to live anymore? Be careful, my brother will come back and beat you to death."

I looked at Cathy jumping up and down in front of me, furrowing my brows. She was still so loose-lipped and disrespectful towards me.

In the past, because I loved Milo, I tolerated whatever she said. But now Milo had turned to ashes, how could I still tolerate her bad temper?

Looking back now, I thought I had been too kind to her before, so she dared to treat me disrespectfully. Thinking about her past actions, I raised my hand without hesitation and slapped her hard in the face.

"Who are you calling a slut? What do you mean by stealing your parents' things? That house was originally mine. I bought all the furniture in the house. I kindly let your parents live in the house, but now you think it's your house. You're really disgusting!"

Cathy probably had never seen me so fierce and didn't expect that I would hit her. She covered her face and immediately became confused.

"How do you dare to hit me?" Cathy looked at me incredulously, her face turned green with anger. After she realized what was happening, she immediately rushed towards me, raising her hand to give me a slap back.

But this time I was prepared. I firmly grasped her hand and forcefully pushed her backwards. Cathy stumbled and fell to the ground.

Before, I tolerated her for the sake of Milo, but now that I had seen the true colors of this family, how could I possibly let them take advantage of me again?

"Joyce Thomas, you evil woman. I'm going to call my brother and tell him that you hit me. You're dead meat."

"Oh, really?" I sneered, "Then go ahead and call him, let's see if he can still answer your phone."

Cathy got up from the ground and immediately dialed Milo's phone number.

The ringing sound of the phone came from my bag, and I laughed even more happily.

I took out Milo's phone from my bag and waved it to Cathy, kindly reminding her, "I called you more than a dozen times a few days ago. You should remember it. But because you deliberately didn't answer my call, you've missed the last chance to see your brother. He passed away a few days ago and has been cremated into ashes."

Cathy didn't believe what I said. She screamed sharply, "Joyce, how could you be so vicious? You even cursed my brother. You are at least husband and wife. How could you do this?"

I rubbed my ears and gave her a cold glance. It turns out that people are all hypocritical.

Her brother is such a scumbag. He did so many asshole things behind my back, but she seems blind and can't see it. Now, I just said something about her brother, and she thinks I'm malicious.

"Anyway, I've already brought up the matter. Whether you believe it or not, you can check the news from the past two days. Here are his hospital admission records, death certificate, and cremation certificate copies. If you don't believe it, you can go to the hospital and funeral home to ask."

I slapped the prepared copies of documents onto Cathy's face, then took out the keys and opened the door, walking into the house without looking back.

Once inside the house, I immediately called the moving company I used before and asked them to come and help me move.

This house was our marital home, but I didn't plan to live here anymore. I despised the presence of that scumbag, so I had already packed up my things these past two days.

As for Milo's things, I treated them like garbage and threw them all away. I didn't even keep a single photo of him and threw them all in the trash.

He did disgusting things while he was alive, so why would he need any dignity in death? That was why I didn't leave a single memorial photo for his family.

Now that I think about it, I realize how foolish and kind-hearted I used to be. I was bullied by them and didn't even resist. Indeed, women shouldn't let love cloud their judgment.

Chapter 2

2.

Half an hour later, the moving company's staff arrived. I asked them to load all my belongings onto the truck. As for the large furniture, I didn't want to take them. I thought them dirty since Milo slept on and touched them.

This house had also been listed with the real estate agency. I would sell it immediately as long as the price was right. Anyway, I had plenty of houses.

After moving things to the new house, I put my phone on silent mode and had a good sleep. In the meantime, I also managed to squeeze in a full body massage.

These days, I had been busy dealing with the affairs of Milo and moving and packing things, which made my back sore and aching. Anyway, I had plenty of money now, so I naturally couldn't treat myself badly.

At this moment, my parents-in-law and Cathy had made hundreds of calls and sent hundreds of messages to me. I didn't even take a glance and just deleted them all with one click.

Before, when I had urgent matters and called them, they didn't answer. I just treated them the way they treated me.

After finishing the massage, I received a phone call from the property management.

The property management staff on the phone hurriedly said to me, "Miss Thomas, you need to come back quickly. Three people claiming to be your parents-in-law and sister-in-law are at your home. They are actually trying to break the lock on your door. Luckily, you had instructed our security guard to keep an eye on your house, otherwise the lock would have been damaged."

I touched my forehead. Sure enough, I guessed it right. Those three people did come to break my house.

I sighed and said to the staff on the other end of the phone, "Thank you. If they try to break in again, please help me call the police directly. I will be back immediately."

When I returned home, there were layers of people gathered outside my door, even the police had come.

I could hear my mother-in-law, Rena, wailing before I left the elevator.

"Oh, police officers, please help me! My son was killed by that bitch. You must help me!"

Seeing Rena sitting on the ground, throwing a tantrum, I couldn't help but worry for the police officers. She was still the same, whether at home or outside, always exposing her true nature without reservation.

After so many years, I had already gotten used to it. I really admired myself for being able to tolerate her for so long.

My sharp-eyed sister-in-law had already spotted me. She rushed out of the crowd and pounced on me, "Police officers, it's her! She killed my brother and didn't even let us see his body. You must help us!"

I was prepared and took two steps back, innocently saying, "Police officers, it's a misunderstanding! I hurried back because the property management staff told me that someone was trying to break into my house."

The two police officers might have seen this kind of thing too many times, so they showed no emotion on their faces. One of the police officers asked expressionlessly, "That's right, we came because of this reason. What exactly happened?"

As soon as the police officer finishes speaking, my mother-in-law, who was just throwing a tantrum on the ground, immediately got up and quickly pounced on me, "You wicked woman, you killed my son, I want you to pay with your life!"

My mother-in-law was much taller than me, and she had great strength. I was no match for her, so I could only let her grab my collar and shout in my ear.

However, I didn't forget to ask for help from the two police officers beside me, "Uncle police officers, please help me! My mother-in-law wants to hit me, please save me quickly."

The two police officers quickly approached and pulled Rena away, with a complicated look on their faces, saying, "What are you doing? Speak nicely, don't use violence!"

"Officer, I want to accuse her of plotting to kill my son for money. Please arrest her!" Rena struggled while talking to the police officer.

I immediately defended myself calmly, saying, "Officer, I want to accuse them of illegally entering a private residence! I also want to accuse them of defamation."

Seeing that we were arguing endlessly, the two police officers took us all back to the police station.

Chapter 3

3.

"Officer, what Rena said are baseless accusations. I have evidence here. This is the hospital's phone number. You can also call to verify."

At the police station, I handed over the prepared medical records, death certificate, copy of the crematorium's certificate, and the hospital's phone number to the police officers for verification.

I actually anticipated that Rena would come to cause trouble, so I made multiple copies of these materials in advance, just in case.

Rena was still throwing a tantrum and cursing. She completely disregarded the police officers, saying, "You wicked woman, why don't you die? You didn't even let us see my son for the last time. How can you be so cruel? I want to kill you, you wicked woman."

I sat there quietly, waiting for the police officers to verify. In the past, if Rena insulted me a little, I would feel sad and upset, but since I learned about that incident, I had given up on being sensitive. Some people were just like that, no matter how much genuine care I gave, I couldn't get genuine care in return!

So since I knew about this, I hadn't paid any attention to what she said. Now I just treated her as a barking dog.

Rena became even angrier when she saw that I ignored her. She cursed even more.

A policewoman couldn't stand it anymore and stared at Rena, saying, "This is the police station. Be quiet. If you keep talking nonsense, Ms. Thomas can accuse you of defamation."

I gave a grateful look to the policewoman. As for my mother-in-law, although she didn't curse loudly anymore, she still muttered with a dissatisfied face.

Even a child could tell that she was cursing at me in a low voice, but I didn't care. Her son had already been cremated, so I let her curse a few times to vent her anger.

Half an hour later, the police officers finally verified all the facts. One of the police officers came over to explain to my mother-in-law, "What Ms. Thomas said is all true. Your son did die accidentally, and everything she did was in accordance with the law. There was no illegal behavior."

"Impossible. Officer, she is the one who killed my son. She didn't even let me see my son for the last time and cremated him. Officer, you have to help me. This woman is too malicious."

When my mother-in-law heard the police officer's words, she started to slap her thighs and wail loudly, feeling as wronged as she could be.

The police officer looked at me helplessly, and I also felt helpless. "Officer, I'm also quite wronged in this matter. In fact, I called each of my parents-in-law and sister-in-law dozens of times. But none of them answered my calls. The doctor also asked me to handle it quickly, so I had no choice but to call the funeral home staff. When the funeral home staff arrived, they asked if I wanted to cremate directly. I had no experience, so I could only say yes. That's how I hurriedly handled it. Besides, my husband had an affair during our marriage and even had a child. His family helped him hide it from me, and I only found out recently. Can you imagine how frustrated I felt? It was good enough that I could take him to the funeral home for cremation. What else did they expect me to do? This is the record of the calls I made to them before the cremation. You can take a look, Officer. So it's really not my fault."

I took out my phone and showed the police officer the call records on that day.

The police officer looked at me sympathetically, then turned to my mother-in-law, and his attitude was obviously different from before. "You can't blame on her. If you don't have any other problems, you should each go back and stop wasting police resources here."

My mother-in-law was so angry that her face turned green. She wanted to say something, but I preempted her and said, "Officer, I still have something to do. Now that my husband is dead, theoretically I have no relationship with their family anymore. I just hope they won't come to bother me again. If they come to my door arrogantly like this again, can I report to the police again?"

The police officer looked at me and then at my mother-in-law before saying, "Naturally, you can. However, it's best to resolve any issues privately. Don't involve the police just because of such a small matter."

I nodded repeatedly. Naturally, I wouldn't report to the police for such a small matter. But if Rena acted foolishly and tried to break into my house again, that was another story.

Rena was still unwilling to give up, but the policewoman warned her that if she continued to cause trouble unreasonably, she would be detained for a few days. Only then did Rena finally stop.
