Courtney pursed her lips in displeasure. She rolled her eyes at me before walking directly toward me.
"My name is Courtney Zeller. You're Ms. Sutherland, right?"
She smiled sweetly at me, but her smile didn't reach her eyes. "How strange. Why would Ches be with an old hag like you? They all say that I look like you, but I don't think so. There's no way I'm as old and ugly as you. You should wise up and divorce Ches as soon as possible."
I nodded. "Then you should persuade him to divorce me as soon as possible and marry you instead."
My words seemed to set her off, as her expression suddenly twisted. "The one who isn't loved is the mistress! So what if you're hogging the identity of Mrs. Ford? You're actually the other woman here!"
I was about to say something else when Courtney looked behind me.
She suddenly grabbed my arm, smashing a wine glass as she did so. Her palm was instantly covered in blood.
Chester rushed over at the sound of breaking glass and held her protectively in his arms.
Courtney sobbed heavily while cradling her injured wrist. "Please don't be angry, Ms. Sutherland! I shouldn't have coveted Ches… You were right to call me a homewrecker!"
She continued to sob as she burrowed deeper into Chester's embrace.
Chester glared fiercely at me. "You've gone too far, Yuna. You want a divorce, fine. But you now even dare to hurt my friend?!"
He hugged Courtney with a distressed expression on his face, then walked up to me.
"Tomorrow is the payment deadline for your sister's medical expenses," he said coldly. "If you don't want her to be kicked out of the hospital, then you must first apologize sincerely to Courtney! After that's done, you also have to beg for my forgiveness!"
I laughed as I watched him leave.
I was suddenly very curious.
If I didn't show up to apologize to him tomorrow, what sort of expression would he make?
The next day, I constantly received WhatsApp messages from Chester, starting from early in the morning.
"I invited all my friends today. Have you prepared your apology?"
"As long as your attitude is sincere, I'll give you another chance. You can still be Mrs. Ford, and I'll also continue to fund your sister's future treatment."
"See you at the Ford residence at 7:00 pm."
Night fell, and the Ford residence was packed with people even before 7:00 pm rolled around.
Everyone was here to see me make a fool of myself.
The guests were all speculating wildly.
"Guess what excuse she's going to come up with to gain Mr. Ford's forgiveness this time?"
"Why not just divorce her this time, Mr. Ford? It's not worth keeping that gold digger around. She's nowhere near as sensible as Courtney!"
Courtney gazed affectionately at Chester from the side.
Chester, on the other hand, was staring intently at his watch.
I was actually late.
He sent me another WhatsApp message. "Where are you right now? You're already late. I'm giving you half an hour more to show up!"
When he sent the message, the application displayed that his message had failed to send. There was a red exclamation mark next to his message.
I had blocked his number.
Chester's good friend, Michael Gunn, couldn't resist teasing him. "There's no way Yuna is serious about it this time, is there? Has she really made up her mind to divorce you?"
Chester frowned and replied, "That's impossible. Yuna values her younger sister's life more than her own, so she can't leave me."
Just then, Michael's new girlfriend—Caitlyn Reece—couldn't help speaking up. "Could you guys be talking about Luna Sutherland from Ward 102 in Jeldon Hospital? So, that was actually Yuna's younger sister. She already passed away several months ago, though…"
