What happened afterward felt like a dream.
I only remembered Harley holding my hand and taking me out of the bar and going back to the hotel where I stayed.
In the dim light of the bedroom, her gaze was still cold.
But her delicate body on top of me was like a blazing fire.
Sitting on me, she stretched her hands back and gently took off her black pencil skirt.
She used her fingers to trace over my collarbones and chest and then reach downwards...
"Eden, I'm not an easy woman."
She said.
"I just don't want to miss you again."
I had been in a high position over the years.
Countless women tried to throw themselves at me.
During the three years that Jade was in Australia, there were even more women who took the opportunity to try to sleep with me.
But I rejected them all.
I told them I'd wait for Jade to return.
But in the end, this so-called cross-country relationship which would last forever was nothing but a ridiculous farce.
Harley showed up out of the blue.
I felt that her body was burning.
It ignited my suppressed, sad feelings.
That night, Harley and I had sex again and again.
In the end, she collapsed on top of me.
Through the faint light of the sky, I thought I saw tears in the corners of her eyes.
I woke up.
It was already noon.
There were countless messages from Jade on my phone.
She called me.
This time, I answered.
"What is it? Have you signed?"
"Signed? Signed what? Eden, why didn't you voice chat with me last night?"
I laughed. "Are you serious?"
"Eden, don't push it too far. I forgot to put you on mute that night. I don't care what you thought you listened. Let me make it clear to you. I was watching an American TV series."
"Really? But he said your name."
Jade clearly was stunned.
She swallowed.
"Which ... part did you hear?"
I was surprised at how brazen she was. I didn't bother to respond to her.
Beside me, Harley, who was resting her head on my arm, was awakened by Jade's voice.
Harley heard our conversation.
With her beautiful eyes closed, she snorted softly.
Jade heard that and immediately became furious.
"Is there a woman beside you?"
"So what? You and I are done."
I said word by word.
Then I hung up the phone directly.
Jade angrily threw her phone on the ground.
Jade's bestie was silently searching on an Australian job app. She was startled and quickly picked up the phone.
After making sure the phone wasn't broken, she cautiously asked Jade.
"Well? Eden isn't really getting a divorce, is he?"
Seeing Jade's gloomy face, she quickly added.
"I'm sure he won't.
"He almost spent every day courting you in college. I've never seen a man love someone that much. At that time, I thought someone must be stupid enough to break up with Eden and be with someone else..."
She seemed to realize that she said something wrong and quickly shut up.
But Jade wasn't listening at all.
She was still thinking about the woman's voice that came from the other end of the line.
There was a dim, obscure light flickering in her eyes.
I had experienced great mood swings these days.
My love for Jade had completely disappeared.
But hearing her voice, I still felt annoyed and even a little sick.
Harley noticed it.
She wrapped herself in a bathrobe and sat up gracefully, opened the door of the hotel room, and pushed in a small cart.
It was filled with various exquisite desserts and drinks.
She ate the desserts slowly while quietly watching me.
She just woke up and was without makeup, but her delicate features were somehow highlighted.
The messy hair in front of her forehead added to her charm.
I realized something.
We had sex last night, and now, I was upset about another woman who was deeply entangled with me.
It was rude to leave Harley aside just like this.
I was about to apologize.
Meanwhile, she handed me a piece of cake with a fork and put it in my mouth.
She said softly, "It's fine. You have your troubles, and it's normal. You don't need to explain to me. I'm not your girlfriend anyway."
"I..."
I didn't know what to say.
She chuckled.
"But I'm not saying it won't change.
"I will give you time. I will wait for you."
Harley came over and sat on me.
Her bathrobe was half open.
I held her, feeling her soft body and well-proportioned curves through the thin bathrobe with both hands.
Just when I was about to have sex with her again.
She suddenly pushed me away gently.
"Let's go."
"Where to?"
"You'll go on a date with me."
We watched the sunset on the beach.
We embraced in the private bath of the hot spring.
We kissed on the Ferris wheel of the Melbourne Star.
We tasted vintage wines at a winery in the Yarra Valley.
In just a few days, Harley took me to explore the whole of Melbourne.
It was completely different from the dates I had with Jade.
She always took my money and went out with her friends, and sometimes she'd stay out all night.
She never treated me seriously.
But Harley was different.
She even openly made a Vlog of our trip and posted it on a platform.
She smiled at me like a little girl.
"These days have been the happiest time for me. I want everyone to see how happy we are."
As I expected, the comment section of her account was in an uproar.
She had hundreds of thousands of fans.
They were all heartbroken.
They saw a man in her Vlog!
A fan asked, [Is he your boyfriend?]
Harley shook her phone at me.
There was a mischievous smile in her eyes.
I was just about to answer.
Jade's affected voice suddenly rang out.
I frowned.
Jade set this ringtone for me.
I decided to change it soon.
I pressed the answer key and heard Jade say my name with a touch of feigned tenderness.
"Eden, where are you?"
One thing was obvious.
She didn't see Harley's update.
"What's up?"
"You finally let go of work and came to Melbourne. I thought I should take you to go around for a few days. I know a jewelry store. The design there is so special."
"I don't want to talk to you or see you until you sign the divorce agreement."
I said decisively.
I had never spoken to Jade in such a tone before.
She was a little annoyed.
"You're treating me like this because of Bill, right? There really is nothing between him and me. I promise that I will cut off contact with him from now on. Happy?"
She finished speaking.
In the next second, I heard Bill's low but fierce complaints.
Then Jade took the phone away from her mouth and comforted him in a low voice.
I smiled wryly.
I felt nothing when facing her disgusting behavior.
Jade thought I didn't hear her.
She continued, "After I finish my study abroad, I will come back and have a wedding with you.
"Eden, you've always dreamed of holding my hand and putting a ring on my finger, right? I promise that I will be the most beautiful bride you've ever seen."
Finally, she said.
She had a temper.
This was my last chance, and she wanted me to think about it carefully.
I sat on the Ferris wheel with Harley.
We overlooked the beautiful night view.
She heard the entire conversation.
She said leisurely.
"I thought you were perfect seven years. You had only one flaw. You were stupid enough to fall for Jade."
