Dahlia gave her a cold look, then directly pulled out a bottle of very strong insecticide and sprayed it toward Camilla.
Camilla shouted while running everywhere. “Dahlia, what are you doing?!”
Dahlia continued chasing her while repeatedly spraying the insecticide.
Camilla was forced into a corner with nowhere left to run, so she hurriedly asked Caspian for help. “Uncle, please save me!”
Caspian had only just finished preparing breakfast.
He put down the bowls and dishes, his expression darkening as he unhappily said, “Enough already. Stop making a scene. Come and eat breakfast.”
Camilla quickly ran over to him, tears almost coming out, while her face showed sadness. “Uncle, Dahlia sprayed me with insecticide everywhere. Th-this… how can I still eat now? If she doesn’t like me staying here, she can tell me directly. There’s no need to use such awful methods.”
Caspian stepped aside twice, just enough to block Dahlia and Camilla from facing each other.
He looked up at Dahlia. “Dahlia, do you have anything to say?”
Dahlia set the insecticide down, her expression looking pure. “I saw red marks covering Camilla’s skin. They should be mosquito bites. Husband, you already know I hate those little insects the most. Every time I see them, I can’t stop myself from wanting to kill them.”
As she spoke, she was about to cry, looking like she could break down anytime. “Sorry, I don’t want to become like this either. But I honestly can’t control myself.”
Camilla wanted to continue talking, but Caspian gave her a look.
“Camilla, go back inside, change your clothes, and then come out for breakfast.”
He moved nearer and held Dahlia in his arms, softly calming her down. “Wife, no one’s blaming you. Everything’s okay.”
He picked up the pills from the table drawer. “Wife, take this medicine before you eat breakfast. You lost control of your feelings earlier. It must be because you did not take your medicine this morning.”
Dahlia looked at the medicine but stayed still.
Caspian watched her carefully. “What’s wrong? Is something bothering you?”
“Wife, you need to listen and take your medicine on time. Earlier, I already helped you and made Camilla embarrassed.”
“You need to live peacefully with Camilla. If you continue making problems, it will become troublesome. Wife, you are the Holmes family’s wife. You should understand the situation and stop always giving me trouble.”
Dahlia only smiled and stayed quiet. She reached for the medicine and swallowed it right away.
Only then did Caspian smile happily and pat her head gently.
Yesterday, Dahlia found out by chance that something was wrong with the pills, so she asked her assistant to make another set of tablets with the same color.
Before Caspian came back, she had already switched all the medicine inside the house. The tablets she took earlier were only vitamins.
As for the real pills, they had already been sent to the research institute and were being checked.
Camilla had already changed her clothes and walked out, then returned to the dining table for breakfast.
Camilla and Caspian kept talking, speaking only about small secrets that only they understood.
Camilla placed food onto Caspian’s plate while looking at him with tempting eyes.
Beneath the table, Caspian’s leg had already slid under Camilla’s skirt.
Dahlia only ignored the two people sitting across from her and quietly finished her breakfast.
Caspian noticed how quiet Dahlia looked, and he slightly felt that something was not right.
Before he could think more about it, a call from the company made him leave.
Dahlia faced the other way, warmed a cup of milk for herself, then returned upstairs to her room, fully ignoring Camilla inside the house.
When evening came, her bedroom door was suddenly slammed open with a loud bang.
Caspian stayed by the entrance with an angry face, trying to hold back his rising anger. “Dahlia, I know you have severe depression and cannot control your feelings. But you still should not use my absence to treat Camilla so badly like this!”
Before Dahlia could respond, Caspian quickly ran inside.
A phone strongly hit her body.
Camilla was watching TV in the living room when she suddenly came running down from upstairs.
Without saying many words, she charged over like crazy, pushed Camilla onto the floor, and started hitting her.
Camilla did not dare fight back and was beaten until her body turned bruised and swollen. She begged for forgiveness while crying, “Sister Dahlia, stop hitting me! Please! Stop hitting me!”
“I-I’m not here to separate you and Uncle, I’m here to become part of this family! You need to trust me!”
Dahlia stayed quiet, only forcefully pushing her head against the floor before grabbing a long stick and striking down hard.
Dahlia’s head rang loudly.
The bottom right side of the phone screen showed the time when everything happened, and it was this afternoon.
She had stayed inside the room the whole afternoon and never went downstairs at all.
She pressed the video open once more and carefully checked it again. The “Dahlia” in the recording always turned her back toward the camera and never showed her face clearly.
Camilla asked someone to act as her and performed a fake injury.
“This wasn’t my doing. I didn’t leave the room the entire afternoon.”
Dahlia lowered the phone. “You can carefully watch the video scenes. That person never shows her face…”
A slim figure quickly ran into the room and gently persuaded, “Uncle, Dahlia has serious depression and can’t handle too much stress. I’m really okay now, so don’t keep forcing Dahlia…”
Caspian only looked toward her, his tone cold as winter. “Dahlia, come over here and apologize to Camilla.”
Dahlia nodded.
She slowly rose to her feet and stopped in front of Camilla. “Camilla, I’ll first say sorry for what I’m about to do next. I’m truly sorry for making you hurt.”
Right after saying that, she grabbed the flower vase beside her and smashed it hard at Camilla.
Camilla’s scream quickly spread across the entire villa.
Dahlia, though, remained unusually calm. She immediately grabbed Camilla’s long hair and roughly pressed her head onto the floor, completely repeating the actions from the video.
In Dahlia’s life, there had never been the words “quietly putting up with anger.”
After finishing everything, Dahlia stood up and prepared to leave.
Before she could take a few steps, Caspian tightly caught her wrist.
“Dahlia, are you insane?” Caspian’s voice came out through clenched teeth. “You really dared to hurt Camilla this badly right in front of me!”
“Men, my wife’s serious mental illness has acted up again, and she attacked someone for no reason. Immediately send her to the psychiatric hospital and watch her closely. Before her illness gets better, nobody is allowed to let her out!”
Before Dahlia even had the chance to inform her assistant, someone forcefully took her into the psychiatric hospital.
Those three days in the psychiatric hospital turned into the longest and most painful days of Dahlia’s life.
The nurses and doctors acted toward her as if she were a serious psychiatric patient who might attack anyone at any time.
The moment she entered the iron gate, they forced a restraint jacket onto her.
Any tiny movement to resist got her hit again and again with hard punches.
On the first day, staff pushed her beneath a high-pressure water gun, while cold water covered her for the whole night.
On the second day, they pulled her up and began obedience tests, forcing her to wash every bedsheet around the hospital with her bare hands. After laboring the whole day, shards of glass were placed into her food. She grew so hungry that she could only battle dogs for food.
On the third day, they strapped her onto the electric shock chair, and a strong electric current ran through her whole body. The shocks became so bad that her eyes turned upward.
Three days later, they finally let her leave the psychiatric hospital. Her mind already felt confused, and she could not even stand properly.
She picked up her things from the security room near the entrance.
Right after she pulled out her phone and tried to call her assistant, a car suddenly pulled over by the road.
With a loud commotion sound, somebody stepped out of the car, ran toward her, reached forward, and hit her until she passed out.
When she became awake again, a harsh incandescent lamp hung over her head.
Strong pain spread across her entire face, and only her eyes were still able to move around.
Caspian remained sitting near the bed. After seeing she was awake, he reached forward and stopped her from moving. “You already went through plastic surgery. Don’t move around.”
While still confused, Dahlia thought she might have heard the wrong thing.
Her trembling hands moved toward her face and felt several thick white bandages wrapped around it.
She slowly moved her eyes in pain and looked at Caspian with disbelief. “Why do I have to get plastic surgery?”
“Three days before, your mental illness became serious, and you struck Camilla with a flower vase, which ended up cutting her face. During the three days you spent inside the psychiatric hospital, I reached out to the leading cosmetic doctors around Utah because I wanted to restore Camilla’s face, but every result looked far from good.”
Caspian spoke in a rough voice, “Camilla became badly affected because of this and almost tried to kill herself. You and she look very similar, so your face was transferred to her.”
“Don’t be afraid. I picked a much better face for you. You will like it.”
Dahlia looked straight at him while her entire body shook. “I resemble my mother, not Camilla! Also, I am older than Camilla! If one person looks like another, then she is the one who looks like me!”
A small sign of guilt crossed Caspian’s face while he tried to calm her. “Wife, I know you went through pain after spending three days in the psychiatric hospital. Right after leaving that place, you came here again for facial surgery, so your heart feels terrible. But everything is already over.”
“In the future, if you stay obedient and stop causing trouble for me, you will still be Mrs. Holmes. I will make it up to you, too. Whatever you ask for…”
She laughed coldly and stopped him. “Caspian, do you think I care about that little money from you?! Who are you looking down on!”
When he saw her like this, Caspian felt his chest tighten and wanted to speak.
The nurse pushed open the door and came in with worry on her face. “President Holmes, Miss Silva already woke up. After not seeing you there, she kept shouting and tried to leave the bed to find you.”
Hearing those words, Caspian stood up right away.
He followed the nurse outside. As he reached the doorway, he turned back and looked at Dahlia again. “Wife, spend these next two days recovering properly in the hospital. I need to travel overseas for work. Once I come back, I’ll bring you a gift.”
After finishing his words, he closed the door and left in a hurry.
Dahlia stared at the firmly closed door and stayed quiet for a long while.
She picked up her phone and called her assistant. “Arrange a press conference for me in two days. I want him and Camilla to lose all their reputation overnight.”
Dahlia calmly remained in the hospital for two days.
On the day she left the hospital, the divorce lawyer called her that morning. “Miss Watson, your divorce certificate is ready.”
Dahlia ended the call. After walking out of the hospital, she went straight to the law firm.
When she came out of the law firm holding the warm divorce certificate, her phone suddenly shook.
She lowered her head and checked it. It was a text message from Caspian.
The attached photo shows the airport’s large floor-to-ceiling window and a beautiful jewelry box.
[I just arrived. This is the gift I promised to give you as compensation.]
[It’s the one you kept saying you wanted before. Wife, you will definitely love it.]
Dahlia smiled, lifted her hand, then directly deleted and blocked Caspian.
The assistant was already waiting outside the law firm entrance. When he saw her coming over, he opened the car door for her.
Dahlia got inside. “Drive. We’re going to the press conference venue.”
