Chapter 5

Amy's POV

His eyes and their sharp intensity held me until he stood right in front of me, the already small room that only contained the bed I was sitting on right now seemed to shrink by a size or two before he spoke.

"Tell me something, what's your angle here?" He asked the amusement lost from his voice I could tell he was not playing around with me and a shiver ran down my spine but I steeled myself to remain bold and keep eye contact with him all these days that I have starved myself refusing food and any other form of sustenance was to get his attention if they wanted to sell me off for the highest price they couldn't do so if I looked half dead that's my hope at least his eyes carried me in patience in grieved in them but I cleared my throat and spoke up.

"The maids told me that you usually don't have a problem sleeping with the women you are going to use as hookers, that's what I want."

He scoffed, it sounded first though, "I've already told you that I have no interest in you and I'm using even more by your desperation."

I clenched my teeth, this was really going nowhere. It didn't look like he was going to budge.

"Then I won't work for you." I said plainly and there was a deadly glint in his eyes, he held my chin keeping my eyes on imprisoning me in his gaze.

"It seems you don't understand your situation clearly, bunny this isn't negotiation, your boyfriend sold you off like a second-hand car. And now I have 10 million that someone has to pay for, unfortunately that someone is you."

I swallowed the lump down my throat.

"And if I say no?"

His lips curled downwards, "you don't want to know what will happen if you say no,"

I found myself laughing even though it seemed like my life was hanging by a thread. It was really funny while I thought of it. I had loved a man viciously for the past 5 years giving him everything and anything.

There was never a moment of rest, while we were in college I was stuck between classes and the moment I stepped out of class it was right into a part-time job he moved in with me just two months into dating then paid the rent once and never again.

Any friend that didn't go about him being the best man in the world was cut off which means I was pretty much isolated by the time I graduated from college.

But I didn't care.

So what if I was losing the friends I had known for years here was my man who was willing to do anything and everything for me at least he said he would Jeremy was all about the promises and never about the action if we went by his promises alone translating them perfectly into reality we should be living in our own Villa in a gated community with five kids.

Now the dream I had chased for years had turned to be no more than a mirage.

It was all gone, it had been my everything, my reason for living.

I closed my eyelids.

"If you're going to take me out please just make it quick, put me out of my misery already."

He dipped his hand into his pocket and pulled out a gun, raising it to the same level as my head. I could see this because my eyelids were not completely closed.

"Are you testing me? Do you think I won't pull this trigger if I want to?"The cold metal was now resting on my neck, pressed against the side. "I don't take well to people who try to test me and you should take my word for it when I say they always regret it. Do you want to be one of those people?"

"I don't want anything, it's clear that I was never supposed to be happy or have anything worth living for so you might as well just take me out now and put a stop to all my suffering so that I can finally be free."

Neither of us moved but I could still sense the shield coming from the gun the knowledge that anytime he might pull the trigger and that would be it the curtains would follow my life completely and it would all end there Jeremy would probably continue his own life no surprise that he might still end up in the same position where he had to sell me I wonder if he's going to toss away the woman who's with him now.

Clearly he doesn't know how to love just how to use and it was something I refused to see for so long until it brought me here.

The second stretched out like decades until finally I opened my eyes and so that he was staring straight at me finger on the trigger but he wasn't pulling it.

"How about we make a new deal, something that will not only clear off the 10 million debt but give you enough money to start your life fresh,"

I blinked rapidly before I could speak. He continued, "don't think I'm doing charity here, you're going to work for that money, just not the way I previously planned for you."

He pulled the gun away from my neck and then pushed it into his pocket concealing it once more.

"Madame Loretta I believe you remember her, she'll prepare you for tonight."

"What's happening tonight?""I asked my pulse, he hadn't even said what job he was going to make me do and honestly I was getting a bit frightened but at the same time I had been pushed too far for too long.

He turned his back to me.

"You'll find out soon and they will not be going back, do you understand?"

"Yes... I understand."

He looked over his shoulder.

"And eat your meals you need your strength for what is to come."

He left the room and as his steps faded into memory I leaned against the wall and asked myself what the heck I just agreed to.

Chapter 6

Amy's POV

I remained in that room for a couple more hours, another plate of food was brought for me and I chewed through it not really tasting anything but swallowing it down anyways.

Eventually Madame Loretta came for me. She handed me that same blindfold again, I guess I was working with spare trust.

I accepted the blindfold and erupted around my eyes then she took my arm and pulled me out of the room. We kept walking for a while and occasionally I would bump into something she would curse in a deep accent. I don't know if it was targeted at me or the objects I bumped into but after a while she stopped and said.

"She's here, Boss."

By the time I tore off my blindfold Madame Loretta was gone and I was in what appeared to be a lounge. It was equipped with a poker table, and cushioned, plush sofas along with a small Crystal chandelier at the center.

Mr Moretti sat in one of the smaller sofas or perhaps it just shrank because of how tall he was.

There was a bottle of whiskey in one hand and two glasses in the other he poured into both and then gestured for me to come closer. I did, then he told me.

"Take one..."referring to the glasses of whiskey, I gulped ironically even though I had worked as a bartender I wasn't the biggest fan of alcohol but something told me that this was a test Mr Moretti didn't look like the kind of man who just did things for the sake of so I took the whiskey and swallowed it in one gulp the burnt that rushed down my throat caused me to cough.

"You don't want to drink?" He asked me to pick up on it instantly. The burn was still in my throat when I responded back.

"No, I don't really have the stomach for alcohol."

"Well then I hope that you have a thicker skin for other things." He said then he told me to sit, turning his eyes to the spot next to him on the sofa, I took it without question. There was something about the way he spoke that made you want to listen to him even if you were also shivering with fear and anxiety.

As I was seated he pulled a small photograph out of his pocket and then handed it over to me pressing it into my palm I spread the photo so get a good look at the person that was on it there was a man, was not as handsome as Mr Moretti but he had a presence that seem to carry itself through the photograph his eyes were turned away from the camera is cigarette tucked between his lips and his hand shoved into his pocket.

"Who is this?" I asked, presuming that he was somebody important that Mr Moretti wanted me to know about. Mr Moretti tapped on the photograph.

"His name is Enzo Marino, a captain in the La Tigre Nera... There are talks about him being the next under boss but nothing is confirmed yet."

I could feel the parts of my fingers getting wet, things were becoming more real with every ticking second. This info that he was spilling out to me wasn't something that a normal civilian was supposed to know at least not intimately.

The realization of what I had agreed to was beginning to sip in but I didn't want panic to overtake me. I kept listening with a deep intensity as he gave me more details about the man in the picture until it felt like I had known him for a while.

I folded the picture when he finally got to the parts that involved me.

"The thing is Enzo has been a pain in my neck for a long while, a bit too long, now there has always been the option of killing him. But then I would have the La Tigre Nera on me and he's not worth that much trouble. And Enzo is smart despite appearances... He knows how to cover his tracks but I know with him it can't be anyone else."

The way he said this man's name, it rang with familiarity. It made me wonder if there was a time that they used to get along before things became like this. He noticed I was getting distracted in my own thoughts and snapped his fingers in my face forcing me to come back to the present.

"Did you understand what I want you to do?"

I was both embarrassed and scared at the same time I had to go to destruction while he was talking and now I had no idea what he needed me to do.

"Yes of course," I said to him, too afraid to admit that I had zoned off in the middle of the conversation without wanting to but it had happened anyway.

"Are you sure this is something you can do?" He asked, coming closer close enough that I had no other choice than to smell his cologne mixed with his natural masculine scent that made my head start to spin and my heart racing a little bit faster.

"I can," I assured him, still having no idea what he just asked me to do and beyond being afraid of what it could be when I would eventually find out, however it was better than telling him that I didn't hear him earlier.

"All right then..." He got up adjusting his shirt, "you have exactly one chance to prove that you are worth being kept like this if you fail then we will go back to the previous arrangement regardless of what you really want, do you understand, bunny?"

I still had no idea why he had given me that nickname but it was one of the many things I could not ask him but kept to myself.

I wore my blindfold again before madam Loretta came back to fetch me and all through the day I wondered just what I had agreed to and what would come next for me.
