Chapter 3

"Now, the bride and the groom can exchange rings..."

We arrived just in time for this solemn moment.

I carefully supported my big belly and walked into the venue unsteadily. I pinched my thigh suddenly and exclaimed.

All eyes were focused on me, and the spotlight followed.

When Oliver saw me, he panicked. His eyes seemed to ask why I came.

Of course, I came. I was invited by Sydney.

"Opal, you're here. I'm glad you could come to bless us."

Sydney's face showed a decent smile as she looked at me like a winner.

What was there to be proud of?

Oliver and I met at a business gathering. After he persistently pursued me for a year, I happened to be ready for a relationship and agreed.

I had money, and I could spend it on whoever I wanted.

Oliver probably thought I was pretending to be rich and didn't spend much on him.

It was not surprising that he would think that. After all, I usually wore only a white shirt, a pair of shorts, and a pair of slippers.

The joy of minimalist dressing was great.

Meanwhile, Sydney kept seducing him, so he cheated on me.

Everyone despised a jerk.

Sydney was the only one who treated him as a treasure. She got pregnant out of wedlock and had a shotgun marriage. Silly woman. She'd suffer.

Chapter 4

Hearing Sydney's words, I took out the speaker I had prepared and said, looking pitiful and teary.

"Thank you all for coming to the wedding of my ex-boyfriend who broke up with me three months ago and my best friend who is four months pregnant.

"I am really happy to see them get married. They're perfect for each other. I sincerely wish them a long and happy life as a family of three.

"Oh, by the way, just a friendly reminder. You can send your blessings to the baby in advance. Although the bride's baby will be born in six months, the groom's first child, which is the baby I'm carrying, will be born in four months. Best wishes to everyone."

Anthony considerately took out a tissue and wiped away my tears. He said warmly, "I will take good care of Opal and your baby, Oliver!"

Everyone, including Oliver and Sydney, was stunned.

Goodbye, scumbag. I'm leaving for good.

"Opal..."

Oliver shouted my name behind me, but I ignored him and left with Anthony, immersed in sadness.

Chapter 5

Right after we walked out of the wedding venue, Anthony gave me a thumbs-up and praised me with shining eyes, "Opal, you're amazing. If you enter showbiz, everyone else will be unemployed."

I was quite flattered.

Feeling a little embarrassed by his praise, I patted his shoulder. "Anthony, you have great potential in acting. I'll transfer the money to you."

I initiated a transfer to Anthony on WhatsApp, but he refused, "It's nothing. I'm glad to know you, Opal."

But I already made a promise, and he agreed to take my money. How could he refuse now?

I insisted on giving Anthony the money, but he disagreed, "Opal, don't forget about me. You may treat me to a meal when you're free."

I was puzzled. How come 9,999 dollars couldn't be compared to a meal?

But seeing him stick to his decision, I had no choice but to accept it.

Walking around with a big belly was quite inconvenient, so I waved goodbye to him.

Just as I took a few steps, I heard his voice from behind. "Opal..."

I turned my head in confusion only to see him in the breeze waving at me, looking in high spirits. "You haven't personally told me your full name yet."

Oh, that was right. He helped me so much, but I didn't even tell him my full name.

He attached great importance to the sense of ceremony, I guessed.

So, I turned around and formally introduced myself to him, "Nice to meet you, Anthony Atkinson. I'm Opal Johnston."

His smile made my heart skip a beat.
