Chapter 3

Thelma's POV

I tried to be neutral and act as though I just got here but it was not possible as to why I broke the vase.

My hands were getting sweaty and I knew I was nervous, it can be seen through me easily which would break my lies.

Just when I was confused on what to do, a pair of hands pulled me away leading to another room which I have no idea existed.

The wall closed on us leading to an underground, I looked up to see who it was and was met with a pair of blue eyes, cold yet enchanting and seductive.

"Have you seen enough?" He asked, I cleared my throat pulling away from him feeling awkward.

"Thanks." My voice came out inaudible, I can't believe I was lost staring at his eyes. He walked towards another side, with me walking behind.

He didn't say anything instead kept walking towards a direction, soon we got out, I realized the secret passageway lead outside the pack to the training ground.

He turned to face me, that was when I saw him clearly, Xavier.

Yvonne fiance that was ambushed in the past life, he was said to be her mate but I knew there were more to it now.

He was ambushed and overpowered when he went to save Neon in the past life, since tomorrow tonight was the night I'll be announced as the Luna to be.

Tonight is the night Yvonne will find out he was her mate, she came to meet me for help to cover up her scent which was weird because anyone will be happy to have found their mate.

He pocketed his hands into his trouser, "You should be more careful eavesdropping on people, you don't get to be saved everytime."

His words left me tongue struck, saved everytime? Has he saved me before? Could it be? No, it can't be, not possible.

Just as he was about to leave, I held his hand, "You should be careful also, someone is targeting you and you might get ambushed tonight."

Before he could say anything, Neon arrived cutting our conversation short, "Thelma." He called out, I forced out a smile as I stared at him.

He glared at Xavier gently before he pulled me to his side walking away from him, I glanced back to see Xavier still staring at me.

"Why are you with him?" Neon asked immediately we got in. I rolled my eyes secretly, if I hadn't been reborn, I'll have thought he was just been jealous not knowing he was just an evil and wicked person.

I snatched my hand away from his, landing a slap on his cheek before he could think of whatever could be on my mind, "What now? You want to start controlling me? Who do you think you are?"

He sensed I might be angry and quickly changed his expression, he helped me sat on my chair kneeling in front of me.

His fake smile plastered on his lips, "Of course not. I'm just worried about you, Xavier is dubious and act secretively, I just didn't want him to harm you."

The real secretive person here is you, you are the one who wanted to harm me, I scoffed slightly, my arms folded under my firm breast.

"Whatever you say, you just don't get to drag me all the way from the training ground to my room." He nodded slowly.

I let out a small smile, by now, he should be gone, he stared deep into me, coming closer to kiss me but I pushed him away.

He was shocked, yes, I always wanted this but he told me until he get announced as my royal alpha, it was good at first but not anymore.

"You said until you get pronounced as my royal alpha, just one night." I said sharply, he smiled and nodded standing up.

He pecked my forehead, "Yes, I totally forgot, I can't wait for you to be mine already." I nodded but stared at him in disgust as he left.

I breathed out a sigh of relief which didn't last long before mom came in, remembering what they both discussed earlier, my heart raced in pain.

The people I have regarded as my parents all my life were not even mine. The tiny bit of hope I held in me was lost, I thought maybe they were playing favorites and that was why they chose Yvonne over me.

But now that I knew the reason, I just couldn't stare at them as before, "Mom." I said slowly standing up for her to sit down.

She made me sit in front of her as she held my hands, "I saw Neon leaving your room just now."

Of course she'll try to find out if anything happened between us but she was wrong, "Yes mom. He came to check up on me since he hadn't seen me outside all day."

She gave me a knowing look, "No mom..." I paused laughing, "A woman's dignity is one of the greatest qualities she can possess, I didn't allow him to pass his boundaries."

She nodded, "I just decided to check up on you, I hope you are preparing for your crowning ceremony tomorrow, it'll be the full moon."

I didn't know what to say at first but I just nodded, "I can never be more ready."

She stood up and left before I could lose my temper, immediately she was out, I let out all the emotions I built up.

I had been controlling my rage before her because I don't want her suspecting anything, she definitely came because she thought I might be the one who eavesdropped on them.

I knew I had a lot to do, I stood up to go outside but Yvonne came in, can this people just stay out of my way and life for some minutes.

"Sis, I need your help." She said before I could say anything. I remember she came for something in the previous life.

"What do you want?"

She stared at me like she was contemplating, "I want you to mask my scent with your scent." She said.

I hesitated a bit, I did this for her in the previous life then the next morning, it was said Xavier was ambushed.

Then I remembered, Xavier wasn't just ambushed, he went into coma instead, I wasn't really interested in the case because it wasn't my concern.

But now that he saved me, I'll reciprocate by saving him alsi, "No Yvonne. I can't do that right now, I must have enough energy for tomorrow or I'll not be announced as the Luna."

She hesitated, "No sis, I know you can do it, it's really important to me." I sighed out in frustration. I was starting to get more annoyed.

"I told you, I can't, you can mask your own scent yourself so why do you need me to do that for you?" I snapped in anger, I needed to get to the cabin fast before Xavier would be attacked.

She stomped her feet on the floor in anger, "I'll just do it myself." She said as she left, I knew I had provoked her but I'm less bothered as I rushed towards the cabin.

My legs finding its way to where Xavier was said to be found unconscious in the previous life, getting there, I didn't see him instead a sweet chocolate scent filled my nose.

Something snapped in me, my wolf, Thalia whom was asleep stirred waking up, "Find it, he's our mate."

"It can't be, I didn't find my mate in the previous life so how come." I was in heat, Thalia wanted to take over, I knew.

Just when I was about turning, Xavier came out, the scent grew stronger, what is this? Could he be the one?

Chapter 4

Thelma's POV

I was shocked, before I could figure out what was going on, Xavier stared at me, his eyes flickering as it changed from blue to green, "You are my mate." He growled.

Oh no! This won't be good, Thalia finally gained control of my body going for Xavier, immediately our bodies clashed, he caught my lips devouring on it like he had been waiting for this for a long time.

I reciprocated, our tongue moving in rhythm, he held me up as he opened another door leading to his room.

Without breaking the kiss, he took me to the bed laying my back down as he trail his fingers on my body before cupping my breast, I gasped giving him more entrance to my mouth.

But then I remembered, "No, wait stop, this isn't right!" I quickly stopped him. He backed off in co fusion.

His eyes staring like he was displeased, "Why wrong? Because Neon is your fiancé." He asked, I nodded negatively.

If I couldn't find him in the previous life or even came in contact with him until when he was in coma that I barely saw me through the mirror glass while visiting Yvonne.

Then it was a plan, they knew he was my destined mate and made me avoid him until I died, what is this? Now it was getting cleared.

Yvonne suddenly asking for my help and asking me to mask my scent with hers was to confirm if he was really my mate, him being attacked and ending up in coma as a wolf without scent.

I staggered back in shock, just then the doorbell to his room ring, I knew we had no time again, "Listen, I know it's awkward right now but I really want to save your life, we have to leave now and no matter what you heard or scent, you are not allowed to come out." I said in one breath pulling him to the door we walked in through.

Knowing how much he knew about the pack's underground and techs then he's definitely not just anyone like I thought.

He didn't argue but followed till we are at the other part of the room, "Care to explain why now..."

"Shhhh." I interrupted him placing a finger on my lips, then signal with my eyes for him to listen. Soon the door opened itself.

There were a little ruffles but nothing was found, "So where's he? I thought they said Xavier will be found here? Could it be a false alarm?" Yvonne's voice Duden outside.

There was a faint scent of me which made me wonder how she was able to mask a bit of my scent, now I knew how Xavier was tricked.

But I don't understand, why would he be my mate? I stared up to see him staring at me, "What?" I asked frowning my face.

Thalia on the other hand was excited, "I think you should seduce him so we can mate already, I'm in love with his wolf." She said.

"You should learn to control yourslef, we are in danger right now! Moreover, why are you just waking up after I waited all my life for you." I replied her using my wolf telepathy.

We werewolves have a special ability of being able to communicate with our wolves and that was why I was worried.

In my past life, I was poisoned resulting to my wolf weakened, now all of a sudden she's awake and I found my mate.

I would have never imagine this to happen, "I only regain my consciousness because we found our mate, you still need to find the antidote to whatever poison is in your body, it's killing me slowly."

I sighed at her words, I always thought I wasn't destined for a forever wolf since I only shifted once since I came of age and after that I was unable to anymore because I was poisoned.

"I just realize how pretty and seductive you are." Xavier's voice bought me back to reality as I flinched, I realized I had changed into a simple nightwear which wasn't really covering up my boobs.

I glared at him as I used my jacket to cover it up, "Pervert!"

He only smiled then sat down not far from the door, he stared at me, "Now you can tell me why you are so panicked, and who you are trying to hide from?"

His question threw me offguard, exactly what I have been avoiding, what should I say? That I had been reborn.

"I overheard them this afternoon while eavesdropping, probably before you got there and saved me."

My voice was sharp and I just wanted the ground to swallow me up, "Ohh really? But you sound like you are lying."

"If you don't believe me, then don't, I'm not proving anything to you." I rolled my eyes.

He laughed, I stared at him, his wide smile, made him so handsome, I haven't really observe his face yet.

His dark hair with the tip long dropping on his face, with his eyebrow cut a bit, his chin down and his lips red looking plump.

"Ohh really?" He walked towards another side, I quickly followed behind, he knew almost all the secret passage way and underground's of the pack.

I'm sure he isn't just an ordinary person, "Yes, at first I thought they were only discussing but turns out they were not my parents." I sighed.

My face held a pity look with my eyes watery a bit, he used his hands to clean the few drops of tears that rolled down my cheeks.

"You know, the thing is, I know who your parents..."

I stopped walking, "Wait." Interrupting his words as I sensed someone nearing my room, I couldn't fathom who it was but I knew I can't be here any longer.

"I'll see you tonight at the crowning ceremoney Xavier, I need to leave now." Without waiting for his response, I rushed towards the entrance then noticed I didn't know anywhere in this passageway.

I rushed back to him, "Do you perhaps know any shortcut I can pass to get back into my room before 1 minute."

He nodded holding my hands as he pulled me towards the third side of the room, he gently pushed one of the lid revealing another door.

Seriously!

I stared at him one last time before waving, "Thanks." Then I went in locking the door. Just in time for my door to open, I walked over there.

It was Yvonne and she was looking so annoyed , I knew what she was annoyed on, as their plans failed, I don't know what type of attack they'll plan on Xavier.

"What's wrong? Your face is sore, someone offended you?" I asked sitting down by the chair not far from the door.

She stomped her foot in anger before sitting down beside me folding her arms annoyingly, "Wasn't it one bastard! He literally ruined my plans."

"Oops! That could have hurt a lot. What happened?" I asked, my voice full of sarcasm. She shrugged standing up, I knew she wouldn't talk about it.

"I need to go now, the ceremoney is starting in an hour time so I need to prepare." She said turning to leave but I didn't care.

*****

I walked into the ceremoney hall, all gazed fell on me as I stepped inside, Yvonne wasn't having it so she came beside me.

"Sister, you are finally here." Her sweet voice echoing in the hall. I smiled secretly, the faster you push it, the easier it becomes for me to get my revenge.

I nodded my head walking towards the chair but she stopped me, she gave me a simple smile, "I just wanted to introduce you to my friends."

Even after giving you so many chances, you still wouldn't give up and still want to harm me. Just when she wanted to say something, dad came on stage.

I knew he was about to announce his successor, "Good evening pack members." He started, his eyes rotating like he was looking for someone until it dropped on me then he smiled.

"We are all gathered tonight for a great reason that'll make our pack thrive the more and become the best in years to come, as everyone knows, I only have two daughters..." He paused, his eyes dripping with tears as it did in the previous life, I scoffed.

"Now they are grown and of age to be engaged, I'm so happy we could all be here, together. Now we can all witness this joyous occasion together."

"I decided to abdicate the alpha responsibility to one of my daughter's consort. He has to proof himself worthy enough to be with him, for years, I've thought of whom but now I have my answer."

"Thelma is the best fit to be our Luna, she's strong, benevolent, and calm, and I can say the best person to pair with her is Neon..."

"No..." I interrupted him, "I won't be with Neon, and neither will I become this pack's Luna."

Gasped erupted from the crowd as soon as I said that, you people were the same reason that stared while I struggle endlessly for my life

and you think I'll ever want to be your Luna again.

Never!

Chapter 5

POV: Thelma

The silence that followed my declaration was so complete, I could hear my own heartbeat echoing in my ears. Every single person in the grand hall stared at me with their mouths hanging open, as if I had just announced I was going to sprout wings and fly to the moon.

"Did she just..." someone whispered from the back.

"She refused to be Luna?" another voice gasped.

The shock on their faces would have been amusing if the situation wasn't so serious. These people had never seen anyone defy the pack's leadership so boldly. In their world, you didn't say no to becoming Luna. You didn't reject the Alpha's chosen mate. You especially didn't do it in front of the entire pack during what was supposed to be the most important ceremony of your life.

But I wasn't their obedient little princess anymore. I was someone who had died once because of their lies, and I wasn't going to let it happen again.

My adoptive father's face cycled through several shades of red before settling on a deep crimson that made him look like he might explode. His hands were clenched so tightly at his sides that I could see his knuckles turning white. But he was the Alpha, the pack leader. He couldn't afford to lose control in front of everyone, no matter how much my rebellion was destroying his carefully laid plans.

"Everyone, please," he said, forcing his voice to remain calm and authoritative. He even managed to produce what might have passed for a concerned smile if you didn't know him like I did. "My daughter is clearly overwhelmed by the magnitude of this moment."

A few pack members nodded sympathetically. Of course they would buy that excuse. Poor little Thelma, too fragile to handle the pressure of becoming their Luna. How perfectly convenient for him to paint me as weak and confused rather than admit that his precious plan was falling apart.

"The responsibility of leading this pack alongside our future Alpha is enormous," he continued, gesturing toward Neon. "It's natural for someone so young to feel intimidated by such an important role."

"I'm not intimidated," I said clearly, my voice carrying across the silent hall. "And I'm not overwhelmed. I know exactly what I'm saying, and I meant every word."

The murmurs that rippled through the crowd were like a gathering storm. People were leaning forward in their seats, whispering to each other behind their hands. This was probably the most excitement they'd seen at a pack ceremony in decades.

"Thelma, sweetheart," Neon stepped forward, and I had to force myself not to recoil at the fake concern dripping from his voice. "You're not thinking clearly. This is our future we're talking about. Our destiny."

His handsome face was arranged in an expression of wounded confusion, like a devoted fiancé who couldn't understand why his beloved was acting so strangely. But I could see the flash of anger in his dark eyes, the way his jaw tightened when he thought no one was looking. In my previous life, I had been completely fooled by his act. Now, it makes my skin crawl.

"Our destiny?" I repeated, letting a bitter laugh escape. "Or your ambition?"

Several pack members gasped at my words. They weren't used to hearing anyone speak to their future Alpha with such disrespect.

Neon's mask slipped for just a moment, and I saw a flicker of real rage cross his features before he composed himself again. "I don't know what's gotten into you, but this isn't like you at all. You were excited about our wedding just yesterday."

"People change their minds, Neon. I've realized this isn't what I want for my life."

"But Thelma!" Yvonne's voice cut through the tension as she hurried up to the platform. Her face was the perfect picture of sisterly concern, her blue eyes wide with what looked like genuine worry. She was such a good actress. If I hadn't lived through her betrayal once already, I might have actually believed she cared about me.

"You can't just change your mind about something this important!" she continued, reaching for my hands. "Think about what this means for our family, for the pack!"

I jerked my hands away from her touch before she could make contact. "Don't touch me."

The words came out harsher than I had intended, and I saw several people in the crowd exchange worried glances. Yvonne's eyes widened even more, and she took a small step backward.

"Sister, you're scaring me," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "You're not acting like yourself at all. Maybe you should sit down, have some water..."

I could see the panic flickering behind her concerned expression. She was probably wondering how much I knew, how much I had figured out about their plans. Let her wonder. Let her sweat.

"I'm acting exactly like myself," I said coldly. "Maybe for the first time in my life."

My adoptive father stepped forward again, his forced smile becoming more strained by the second. I could practically hear the wheels turning in his head as he tried to figure out how to salvage this disaster.

"Everyone, please remain calm," he announced to the crowd, his voice carrying all the authority of an Alpha. "I'm sure there's a simple explanation for this... outburst."

He turned to address the pack members directly, knowing that controlling their perception of the situation was crucial. "My daughter has been under tremendous stress lately with all the preparations for today's ceremony. Sometimes the pressure of such important life changes can affect us in unexpected ways."

More sympathetic nods from the crowd. They trusted him, respected him. They had no idea what kind of monster he really was beneath that caring father facade.

"She just needs some time to collect herself and remember why this union is so important for all of us," he continued smoothly. "Perhaps we should postpone the ceremony until she's feeling more... stable."

"No!" I said loudly, causing everyone to turn back to me with startled expressions. "You're not listening to me. I'm not postponing anything. I'm canceling it. Permanently."

The murmurs in the crowd grew louder now, more agitated. Some people looked confused, others scandalized. A few of the older pack members were shaking their heads in clear disapproval of my behavior.

"Thelma, honey," my adoptive mother's voice called from somewhere in the crowd. "Come down from there. Let's discuss this privately, as a family."

"Why?" I challenged, letting my gaze sweep over the assembled pack members. "So you can tell me what's best for me again? So you can convince me to go along with your plans? I'm done with that. I'm done being your obedient little puppet."

I could feel Neon's anger radiating off him in waves now. His carefully constructed mask of concern was beginning to crack, and I could see the real him starting to show through. His hands were clenched into fists at his sides, and his breathing had become slightly labored.
