Chapter 1

I was an orphan, and my grandma, Susan Shelton, raised me since I was a child.

Before she died, my grandma's biggest wish was to see me marry Yazmin Charles.

For this, I knelt to Yazmin, and she finally agreed to marry me.

But she suddenly disappeared on the day we were supposed to get our marriage license. That night, my grandma was gone with regret.

The next day, Yazmin's ex-boyfriend posted a photo of them on Instagram: [You are just her temporary choice; I am the only one in her heart.]

Everyone was comforting me.

I replied expressionlessly: [Congratulations! A perfect match of an angelic bitch and a bastard, may it last forever!]

I was not sad or angry, calmly handling my grandma's affairs after her death.

I was not surprised that Yazmin left me for Zaid Evans.

In the three years we were together, a phone call from Zaid could make her leave me without hesitation.

After three years of being together, Yazmin could walk away from me at any moment with just a single phone call from Zaid.

"What's the excuse this time?" I didn't want to know anymore.

After dealing with my grandma's affairs, I went back to the small home we lived together for three years.

Yazmin was not there, which conveniently allowed me to leave quietly.

Little did I expect that when I finished packing and was about to leave, I saw Zaid and Yazmin walking in, hand in hand.

The two talked and laughed, looking like a couple deeply in love.

Yazmin visibly stiffened when she saw me, then quickly released the hand she was holding. Seeing the luggage in my hand, her delicate brows furrowed slightly. "Finn, is this really what you're going for? As a grown man, couldn't you aim for a little more class and sophistication?"

Her tone made it seem like I was being petty.

Zaid smiled innocently at me, but his whole demeanor was provocative as he leaned against Yazmin, "Finn, I'm really sorry. I didn't know that day was the day you two would get your marriage license. Otherwise, even if I had to call 911, I wouldn't have bothered Yazmin."

I glanced at him and noticed a band-aid on his forehead!

"So, this is why Yazmin stood me up and left me waiting alone at the courthouse all day?" I suddenly feel ridiculous.

In Yazmin's heart, my grandma was not as important as a strand of hair on Zaid's forehead.

"Yazmin, let's break up!" I spoke.

Chapter 2

From the moment my grandma had gone with regret, all my love for Yazmin disappeared.

Yazmin, however, mistook my words for a fit of anger and said, "Finn, can't you act like a man? Isn't it true that we can get married licenses anytime we want? Zaid has been injured, and it's not unreasonable for me to visit him, right?"

"Can't you act like a man?" This is the most common sentence Yazmin has said to me.

"But what does it mean to be a man?" I thought.

Since Yazmin declared that Zaid represented the sacrifice of her youth, I reluctantly permitted a third party to become intertwined in our love story.

I allowed Zaid to call and voice his grievances at night; I granted Yazmin the freedom to leave whenever she pleased, and I conceded that Zaid would always hold a special place in Yazmin's heart.

I believed that by loving Yazmin deeply and tolerating her fully, I could reciprocate her sincerity and forever hold her heart captive!

The fact proved that I lost completely!

My tolerance only brought about their intensified harm to me.

Now, I was fatigued!

I looked at Yazmin indifferently and said, "Reasonable. I won't care about what you do in the future. You are free, both physically and emotionally. "

After saying that, I grabbed my luggage and left quickly.

Yazmin finally realized that I was serious this time. She grabbed me and said, "Is grandma angry? I can explain it to her."

I suddenly felt so ridiculous.

My fiancée, the woman I have loved for many years, didn't even know that my grandma had passed away.

She didn't show the slightest bit of concern for me for so many days.

I opened her hand and said flatly, "No need!"

I had always been considerate and gentle in front of Yazmin, obedient, and never as indifferent as I am now.

Yazmin suddenly felt a little flustered and instinctively tried to hold me back, only to be restrained by Zaid. And he said to Yazmin, "What explanation do you have to give to this kind of man? If it weren't for his grandma pretending to be dead and threatening, how could you be forced to marry him?"

My eyes instantly turned red.

I slapped Zaid's face hard.

Chapter 3

Yazmin, who was originally guilty towards me, changed her face.

She immediately protected Zaid behind her, her face full of anger, "Finn, have you gone crazy?"

I stared at Zaid and said, "You better watch what you say."

Zaid also felt wronged and said, "Is there anything wrong with what I said? If it wasn't for your grandma's fake illness and emotionally manipulating Yazmin, how could she have ended up marrying someone like you?"

I looked at Yazmin and said, "Do you think so too?"

She didn't answer.

But sometimes silence was also an answer.

Three months ago, my grandma was diagnosed with advanced liver cancer. At that time, she was already 75 years old. Her biggest wish before she died was to see me get married and not be alone for the rest of her life.

To fulfill my grandma's last wish, I begged and even kneeled to propose to Yazmin.

But Yazmin thought my grandma was pretending and just trying to force her to marry me.

Maybe Yazmin has always looked down on me from the bottom of her heart.

She was the young lady of the wealthy Charles family. I fell in love with her at first sight in college and pursued her relentlessly for four years.

Coincidentally, Zaid cheated on her, and Yazmin, heartbroken, finally accepted my four years of devotion.

I believed my sincerity had touched her heart, and I thought I had earned her love.

But I was merely Yazmin's second choice, a dispensable figure in her life.

When Zaid got drunk and called her crying, confessing his regret and saying he was wandering the streets at two in the morning, she immediately set out without hesitation. She said, "Finn, he's drunk; it's too perilous for him to be out there alone."

I felt a sense of emptiness as I watched her figure disappear into the distance.

In the three years we were together, she never took the initiative to introduce me to her friends, nor would she act coquettishly towards me. The only person who could receive her tenderness was Zaid.

Being with her, besides the title of boyfriend, I had nothing.

Even in the eyes of outsiders, she and Zaid were childhood sweethearts.

She openly went out with him without any scruples!

If it weren't for my grandmother's limited time left and my kneeling and begging, she would never have agreed to marry me.

I looked at Yazmin disappointedly.

After seven years of loving her, I suddenly find myself lost in thought, wondering what exactly drew me to her in the first place.

Zaid was still stirring up trouble on the side, "Yazmin, take a look. Is my nose bleeding? I suspect that he tends towards violence, so you'd better stay away from him to avoid getting hurt."

Yazmin's attention immediately returned to him.

I used all my strength for that slap, and there was indeed a trace of blood on the tip of Zaid's nose.

Yazmin's face instantly turned dark, "Finn, apologize to him!"

"What if I don't?" I looked at her expressionlessly.

Yazmin looked angry, "Finn, you have disappointed me too much."

What I used to fear the most was disappointing her, so I had always tolerated and indulged her.

That was because I loved her so passionately.

But now I felt that nothing mattered anymore.

Zaid was unsatisfied with this, "Yazmin, my parents have never slapped me. Is an apology truly sufficient in this situation? I feel compelled to strike him back; otherwise, I won't be able to shake off this rage that's consuming me."

Yazmin glanced at me, trying to make me give in.

But I still showed no sign of surrender.

Yazmin was completely angry and decided to teach me a lesson.

With a gesture, she summoned two bodyguards who appeared out of nowhere and restrained me.

I smiled bitterly and didn't struggle, just quietly watching her.

Zaid walked up to me with a cruel smile and slapped me twice.

Blood flowed down from the corners of my mouth.

I remained silent, silently nursing my battle scars.

Yazmin said arrogantly, "This is what you owe Zaid. Now that you're even, I can forgive you if you apologize!"
