Chapter 2

I was reborn.

In the second year of my marriage to Nill, he and my best friend, Alice, beat me into critical condition and buried me alive.

I had discovered their affair and, when I asked for a divorce, Nill refused.

He locked me in the mansion I had bought, even bringing his parents over to watch over me and persuade me to turn a blind eye to their betrayal.

I refused, and when I tried to escape, Alice struck me on the head, and together, they dragged me to the wilderness and buried me alive.

But now, fate had given me another chance. This time, I would make them pay for everything they did to me in my past life.

Today is my 29th birthday.

In my previous life, it was on this very day that Nill proposed to me.

I thought he was honest and trustworthy, but it was all a façade.

After marriage, I discovered his gambling addiction.

Despite his promises to quit, I paid off his debts time and again.

But instead of changing, he continued to gamble and even cheated on me. He conspired with Alice to kill me. Today, I would never agree to his proposal.

While I was still lost in my thoughts, the doorbell rang.

My mom asked me to answer it, and when I opened the door, a wave of nausea hit me. There they were-Nill and Alice standing at the doorstep.

"Happy birthday, Naran," Alice said with a half-fresh bouquet of flowers in her hand. "I was going to come by myself, but I ran into Nill downstairs, so we came together."

Such an obvious attempt to cover up their guilt.

"Happy birthday, Naran. Why aren't you letting us in?" Nill spoke up.

I let them inside.

They greeted my parents and sat down beside them, chatting and laughing while waiting for dinner. Not once did they offer to help or even pretend to be polite.

"Naran, who's going abroad for the company's overseas study trip this time?" Alice asked me.

In my previous life, it was I who had helped her get a position at our company, even pushing for her to get the opportunity to go abroad. Without my intervention, there was no way she could've gotten it, given her qualifications.

"It's definitely not you," I said firmly. "This time, I won't help that ungrateful wolf," I thought to myself.

"I'm going to use the restroom," Alice said awkwardly, getting up and walking toward the bathroom.

"The living room's blocked. Go to Naran's room instead," my mom told Alice.

"Thank you, Auntie," Alice said as she headed toward my room.

"Recently, there's a stock that's rising quickly. I want to buy it, but I'm short on funds," Nill said, his eyes fixed on me.

He thought I'd give him money again this time. I lowered my head and replied coolly, "Then don't buy it. My money is all invested in financial products now."

I didn't need to look at his face to know that he was shocked. How could I, who had always said yes to him, now refuse? But this change in me was just the beginning.

Just wait. Watch how I make you suffer for your own actions this time. I thought, unable to help the slight smile that curved on my lips.

"I'm going to wash my hands too," Nill said and headed toward my room.

They were inseparable, these two. At that moment, I quietly opened an app on my phone...

Chapter 3

At dinner, watching this pair sitting together, I deliberately dropped my fork on the floor. As I leaned over to pick it up, I saw Alice using her toe, painted with bright red nail polish, to scratch Nill's foot. So, they had started even before my marriage. It seemed like the plan to kill me was already in the works.

"I have something I want to announce," Nill suddenly said. "Naran and I have known each other for a while, we've gotten to know each other well, and we have a strong emotional foundation. I want..." He stood up as he spoke, pulled a ring from his pocket, and suddenly knelt in front of me, looking at me with deep affection. "Marry me."

I lowered my head and continued eating, pretending I hadn't heard.

Seeing I didn't react, Nill repeated, "Naran, marry me. Will you?"

"I won't," I said flatly, as everyone looked on expectantly.

The air in the room seemed to freeze. No one could believe I wouldn't agree. In my past life, everyone could see how much I adored Nill and how obedient I was.

"Naran? How could you not want to?" Alice asked in shock.

I stared into her eyes and, feigning difficulty, said, "Alice, why didn't you tell me earlier that you also liked Nill? We're good friends, I would've given him to you."

Alice's face went pale. "What nonsense are you talking about? I... I... how could I? Did you misunderstand something?"

"Naran, stop being unreasonable!" Nill angrily retorted.

"Naran, how can you say that about Nill and Alice...?" my mom asked, shocked.

"Mom, our family should support them," I said calmly.

"Have you misunderstood something?" Nill urgently grabbed my hand, trying to explain.

I picked up my phone and showed the surveillance footage in my room to everyone present. The footage showed them coming out of the bathroom and having "intimate contact" in my room.

The surveillance was installed before my marriage, when I bought a dog for my parents as a companion.

It was meant to monitor the dog, but in this life, it caught their affair. I had expected them not to behave honestly after they both went to the restroom, so I opened the app on my phone and, as I had hoped, found exactly what I was looking for.

"Nill, you beast. You and her have been bullying my daughter-get out of my house!" My dad roared.

Seeing my father so furious, I thought of my past life-when I died, my parents couldn't find me and must have been so worried and heartbroken. Seeing this, I couldn't forgive Nill and Alice.

My mom, heartbroken, said, "Nill, how could you and Alice treat Naran this way? Naran has been more than kind to both of you... now leave our house."

I comforted my parents, saying, "Dad, Mom, don't be angry. Don't let them upset you. You are the most important people to me."

I grabbed my wine glass and poured it over the heads of the "dogs," shouting that if they didn't leave, I'd call the police. Reluctantly, they left.

My parents, afraid I might be upset, suggested I take some time off from the company and go for a break. I reassured them I was fine and not to worry. I wouldn't let this end here. It was far from over.

Chapter 4

The next day at work, every colleague's inbox was flooded with the video of the affair between the pair at my house. Everyone was shocked.

"How did Nill end up with Alice?"

"Yeah! I heard Nill and Naran were about to get married."

"She's the mistress, huh?"

"Such shamelessness, stealing her best friend's boyfriend."

"Naran is so pitiful."

Colleagues were chattering away, expressing their opinions. I fully capitalized on the power of public opinion, gaining sympathy and pity from everyone and dominating the narrative.

When Nill and Alice walked in, all eyes turned to them. They looked completely stunned. When they opened their inboxes, both of them were about to explode. Alice ran to the break room and started crying-not out of shame, but because she was scared.

Nill immediately texted me: Do you really have to do this? That make us all embarrassed.

I shot back: Whoever did this is the one who should be embarrassed.

Since I exposed their affair via email, they became the talk of the entire company. Well, it was more about the three of us, but compared to what I went through in my past life, this was nothing. The boss, worried I might fall into depression, assigned me the overseas project to give me a change of scenery.

In the break room, I bumped into Alice. She tried to avoid me, but I blocked her path. Smirking, I said, "You got the scumbag, and I got the chance to go abroad. Who do you think got the better deal?"

She tried to walk away, but I stepped in front of her again. She panicked and yelled for me to move. I stayed put, deliberately blocking her and grabbed her hand that was holding a cup. The more frustrated she got, the more she pulled at me. Hearing footsteps from colleagues approaching, I turned into the villain of a drama, splashing the water from her cup onto me.

When the colleagues came in, they saw my chest was soaked and looked at Alice. It was clear who had done it, just the way I wanted.

"Alice, I'm just asking why you stole my boyfriend," I shouted. Then I splashed the rest of the water on her. I told her, "As long as I'm here, you'll always be the mistress-unless you two get married."

Alice glared at me with hatred, said nothing, didn't even try to explain the water incident, and just walked out.

Back in my office, I looked through the glass at the empty desks of the two. They must've gone out together. A smirk crossed my face. Looks like I really got to Alice...
