Chapter 2

In the evening, I cooked dinner on time.

Then I pretended to feel unwell and let Wendy set the dishes on the table.

As soon as Erin and her boyfriend entered the house, their smiling faces immediately turned serious.

"Mom, is there no one available at home? Why are you doing the housework?"

"I'm happy when you come back, even if I'm tired."

"There are spare ribs and roasted chicken."

"Yes, your brother specially bought them for you."

I was used to their attitude a long time ago.

But I still felt bitterly disappointed.

Since I married Xavier, I hadn't done anything wrong to Wendy and Erin.

But they had never treated me as a family member.

They didn't even treat me as a free babysitter.

For example, now they were eating at the dining table, while I could only eat on the coffee table.

Because Wendy said I didn't give birth to a son, I couldn't sit at the main table.

"How about getting a few crabs for sister-in-law?" Erin's boyfriend, Eddy Harris, asked quietly.

Xavier didn't even lift his head.

"No, she is allergic to seafood."

Erin sneered and said, "Allergic? Someone from humble backgrounds just can't get used to the high life. Mom, the crab is so delicious."

"If you like it, eat more."

I bit my cheek hard with my head down, afraid to burst into laughter the next second.

How can the crabs in the foot basin not smell good.

While I was clearing the table, Wendy was frowning and pacing around the room.

"Where is my foot basin?"

I kindly pointed to the tea table. "Didn't you use it to put crabs?"

The room seemed to be paused.

Immediately, the three rushed into the bathroom.

How could Eddy bear it? He said 'goodbye' before running out of the door.

But he might have forgotten that there was an echo in the corridor.

The next second, the whole building was filled with his vomiting noises.

"You...you did it on purpose!" Mother-in-law gritted her teeth.

"Mom, for heaven's sake, you personally served the crab. Besides, it's just a basin. Any one is the same. Do you really need to get so angry?"

"You...ugh!"

"If Eddy breaks up with me because of this, I'll have my brother beat you to death!" Erin chased after Eddy, still threatening me while vomiting.

I sneered inwardly.

Besides being a troublemaker, Erin was also a love-brained person.

Although there were many suspicious points about Eddy, she turned a blind eye to them.

I had reminded her many times, but she ridiculed me instead, saying that I was just sour grapes.

She said I wanted to ruin her happiness because I was incapable of finding a husband who loved me.

Words of wisdom can hardly dissuade those doomed to their fate.

An early death brings an early rebirth.

It was not that much for me to help her casually.

Chapter 3

"Erin, I was wrong before." I ran downstairs and grabbed Erin's hand.

She was stunned, unable to believe her ears.

"What did you say?"

I was extremely sad and shed two tears.

"I was wrong. I shouldn't have said negative about Eddy.

"As the saying goes, if you want to capture a man's heart, you must first capture his stomach."

"That makes sense."

She looked at me for a few seconds and nodded solemnly.

I knew it, whenever Eddy was mentioned, Erin's mind would be like being kicked by a donkey.

Eddy's hometown was famous for its spicy food.

But Erin didn't know that Eddy couldn't eat spicy food at all.

The vegetable stall owner and I were very familiar with each other.

I gave him a heads-up in advance, so he would pick out the spiciest chili peppers for me every day.

Erin had never done any housework, let alone cooking.

She screamed when the oil was heated, and forgot to turn on the range hood, making people choke and sneeze.

I sat on a small stool on the corridor, cracking melon seeds and cheering.

Because I told Erin that cooking by herself showed her sincerity.

In order to let Eddy feel her sincerity, she didn't rely on others at all.

I could tell how effective this method was just by seeing how sweet she smiled every day.

And with my embellishment, she became even more enthusiastic.

Eddy secretly went to the hospital more often.

I always ate outside before coming back every day.

Anyway, I always ate on the coffee table.

Even if I secretly poured it, they wouldn't notice.

But Wendy and Xavier at the same table with Erin suffered.

They already had hemorrhoids.

They ate so much spicy that there was no room in the drawer for hemorrhoid medicine.

They did resist.

But Erin's temper had been spoiled, and no one could afford to provoke her.

Later, Xavier simply made an excuse to eat at the company.

But Wendy suffered.

Finally, Wendy got a serious stomach illness.

Looking at the bathroom that looked like a crime scene, I couldn't help but sigh.

"What a great mother!"

Chapter 4

On the third day of Wendy's hospitalization, Erin brought a woman.

She was Xavier's assistant and lover, Lena Lopez.

She was also Erin's rich second-generation friend.

Xavier's affair with her was arranged by Erin and Wendy.

Wendy's family had never truly accepted me.

Xavier married me just for the local household registration.

Now that I was useless, they were thinking of marrying someone more useful.

But they didn't know...

Lena was wearing a Chanel-style outfit today, with wavy long hair and bright red lips.

And the dress I was wearing was bought before we got married.

It was originally a nude color, but it was washed white.

I hadn't bought new clothes since I got married.

"Mrs. Hill, it's nice to see you again. You are still as...simple as always."

"Miss Lopez, you are still so...beautiful."

I didn't miss the pride in Lena's eyes.

Erin pulled her in front of Wendy, and the three of them talked and laughed, just like a family.

And me, I was ordered around like a caregiver.

"Mom, Lena is considerate and filial. If she were my sister-in-law, it would be great."

After Erin finished speaking, she even provocatively glanced at me.

"Erin, Mrs. Hill is still here," Lena's face was about to burst into laughter as she said this.

I pretended not to hear and walked out of the ward.

You won't be able to laugh later.

Just as I turned the corner, I heard Erin's scream from inside.

"Mom, you pooped!"

I was just going downstairs when Erin's call came in.

As soon as I answered, I heard her frantic voice.

"Where have you been? Mom pooped, come back and clean up for Mom!"

"There's a gas leak at home, are you sure you want me to come back now?"

"You..."

"Isn't your sister-in-law Lena there? Let her clean up."

I turned off my phone and came to the cafe.

The clerk looked at me hesitantly.

"What's wrong?"

"Madam, the velvet latte you ordered is 6 dollars."

I smiled.

"I know."

The clerk was very professional and immediately showed a polite smile.

I found a seat by the window.

The sunlight was just right, making people feel comfortable.

People around were coming and going, many of them were well-dressed knowledgeable women.

They were confident and radiant, enjoying the future.

This is life!
