Chapter 3

My hands trembled from anger.

Perfect timing.

I wanted to talk to Amelia too.

It didn't take long before a red Porsche slowed to a stop in front of the learning center.

"Wow."

"That car must cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, huh?"

"I didn't know Will's mother was so rich and pretty."

Surprise gasps erupted among the crowd.

Amelia got out of the car, looking like an elegant socialite.

"Amelia!"

Mr. Foster hugged Amelia and started complaining. "You're finally here! I was scared out of my wits! This lunatic hit me and scolded me. He even tried to take Will away!"

Will also dashed over to Amelia, exclaiming, "That weird man barged into my classroom and glared at me, Mommy! He also kept shouting. I'm so scared. Protect me, Mommy!"

Amelia held Mr. Foster's hand while gently stroking Will's hair. "Calm down, sweetie. Mommy's here now. Don't worry. Were you really scared?"

She patted Mr. Foster's back as she continued, "Be good, Will. No one will bully you or Daddy when I'm around."

She then lifted her head and swept her icy gaze across her surroundings. "Who dares to cause a commotion and scare my family?" she demanded.

The crowd's interest was piqued by her actions. They looked between her and me, waiting for her to unleash her wrath on me, the so-called abductor.

Amelia looked up after she was done comforting Mr. Foster and Will, her gaze finally falling on me, who was still trapped between the two security guards. Her eyes widened, and her expression stiffened.

There were glaciers in my eyes when I glared at her.

"Go ahead and keep up your act, Amelia," I thought to myself. "Let's see how you'll discipline your legally-wedded husband."

Amelia gently pushed Mr. Foster away and positioned herself in front of him and Will. A few feet separated us as she asked, "What do you want?"

The crowd fell silent in an instant. Everyone's gazes were trained on us.

"What do I want? What's going on, Amelia? Where's my son? Where's Will?"

Everyone was stunned by my words, their gazes alternating between Amelia and me.

Amelia's expression twisted slightly. "I don't know what you're talking about. Your son, Will? You must have some screws loose in your head."

My last thread of rationality snapped as Amelia continued to hide the truth, and I slapped her hard across her hypocritical face.

Everyone was stunned speechless. Even Mr. Foster stopped crying and stared at me in disbelief.

"Amelia Garrett!" I roared as I pointed at her. "Drop the act! Where's Will?"

Amelia's face turned a ruddy red. Before the others could react, she lunged at me and grabbed a fistful of my collar. "I don't know what you're talking about! I can give you money if that's what you're after, but I won't let you bother my family!"

She then lowered her voice and hissed, "You'd better play along, Dylan Lewis, or you'll never see Will again."

I stared at her in shock.

I couldn't believe that she was using William to threaten me.
