Chloe showed no concern for my pain and roughly dragged me toward the hospital.

Just as we reached the emergency department’s entrance, we ran into my in-laws, who had rushed over after hearing the news.

My father-in-law, who had always been polite to me, instantly flew into a rage when he saw Jason in apparent pain. He slapped me hard across the face.

My mother-in-law, who had always spoken gently, now looked twisted with fury.

“Jason is the one who gave us the Hayes family’s golden grandson! He’s our family’s benefactor!

“I’m telling you, Shawn, if you dare lay a finger on Jason again, I’ll have you thrown out of the Hayes family immediately!”

These two elderly people had shown me more warmth and care as my elders than anyone else since my parents passed away.

My mother-in-law erupted even more violently when she heard this. She actually lifted her hard-soled high heel and kicked viciously toward my lower body.

I failed to dodge in time, feeling a wave of excruciating pain as I let out a miserable cry.

“You’re a useless man who can’t even perform properly or have children, so you can’t stand seeing Jason doing well!

Vivian’s face was filled with disappointment and rage.

Already weak and injured, I was barely hanging on after being beaten by my in-laws.

Still, Chloe dragged me all the way into Jason’s ward with a dark expression.

I collapsed heavily onto the cold floor tiles, facing Jason on the hospital bed.

Chloe’s eyes immediately reddened.

She grabbed my hair and slammed my head violently against the floor.

“Look at Jason! He’s already this badly hurt, yet he’s still speaking up for you!

“But you still dare to slander him, you heartless, ungrateful b*stard?! Kneel and apologize to him right now!”

A sticky warmth spread across my forehead.

Only when the pain became so intense that I was about to lose consciousness did Chloe finally let go.

She looked down at me from above, her voice as cold as ice.

“Jason’s heart was injured because of you. Now, you’ll make things right for him.”

Before I was dragged into the operating room, I gathered my last bit of strength and opened my eyes.

Jason was nestled in Chloe’s arms, looking back at me with a provocative smile.

Halfway through the surgery, the senior professor who was supposed to operate on me was suddenly called away by a phone call. He was replaced by an intern nurse.

She did not give me anesthesia. Instead, she cut into me ruthlessly with a scalpel, replacing my heart with a pig’s heart.

The pain nearly made me pass out. I tried to speak, but another wave of searing agony cut me off.

That night, I dragged my half-living body out of the hospital.

The background was filled with the sound of movement and a woman’s suppressed moans.

“Since Shawn can’t behave himself, why not sell him to the black market so he can learn some rules? That way, he won’t come back trying to target me again.”

Chloe did not hesitate at all, responding with breathless, soft gasps of agreement.

I hung up expressionlessly.
