Chapter 2

I went home and took some of my son's hair.

Then I slowly walked into the paternity testing center across the hospital.

The results would take a few days to come out.

I sat on the steps of the hospital, completely stunned, unable to get over Emily's words.

After a year of marriage, I considered myself generous to Emily.

I met her through Daniel Davis, and we confirmed our relationship on a blind date.

Emily was beautiful and well-educated. Her mother asked me to give her $50,000 before I could marry Emily. No room for negotiation.

I took out my savings from years of work and loaned some money from my parents to get the money.

On the wedding day, when my relatives saw that I, who usually looked dull, had married such a beautiful wife, they all thought I was lucky.

But the imagined happy life after marriage did not come to me.

I treated her like a goddess and didn't let her do any work.

But she had always been cold to me. When we had sex, she either refused or reluctantly cooperated.

I was never satisfied.

After having a baby, she even wouldn't let me touch her and let me sleep in the guest room.

I had always been obedient to her and never complained for the sake of our baby.

After the child was born, I was the one who changed his diapers, fed him, and bathed him.

She acted like a boss, sitting on the sofa and ordering me to do things.

And her family kept asking me for money.

After marriage, her mother and younger brother found various ways to ask me for money. Their reasons included the refrigerator and sofa at home being broken, they didn't have money to start a business, etc. As soon as I got my salary, her family would borrow it before I got it.

They haven't paid back a single penny.

My mother-in-law always complained that I was not capable and couldn't help them, so Emily had to suffer with me.

I just smiled and didn't refute them.

I earned $10,000 a month. If they hadn't kept asking for money, although we wouldn't live a rich life, we would have enough food and clothing.

What was more, my family's demolition compensation would be received soon. I originally thought that once the money arrived, we would move to a bigger house and buy a car.

Now it seemed that it needed further consideration.

There was no conclusion yet as to whose child it was, but hearing Emily say "Jacob is boring" and "I married him because he is easy to control", every word made me heartbroken.

For the first time in a year, I realized that perhaps Emily had never liked me.

I was lost in thought when my phone rang.

Chapter 3

It was Emily.

After hesitating for a few seconds, I answered.

Just connected, I heard a harsh voice.

"Jacob, where the hell have you been?

How dare you leave me alone in the hospital? Do you have a conscience?

Hurry up and come back to me!"

Before the paternity test results came out, I had to keep her stable and not let her know that I suspected the child was not mine.

After calming myself down, I walked into the ward.

A pillow was thrown at me, and Emily angrily scolded me, "How dare you come back?"

Wasn't it you who asked me to come back?

Although complaining, I lied, "Sorry, honey, our son wasn't feeling well, so I went back to check on him."

Her face looked better when she heard it was because of our son.

Emily was fine, she could go home after paying the fees.

In the following two days, I was burdened with worries, and Emily was as picky as ever towards me.

When our son had a fever in the middle of the night, she kicked me off the bed and asked me to take care of him.

I didn't sleep all night, and our son's fever didn't subside until the early morning.

I had just fallen asleep when I received a call from the paternity testing center.

I wanted to sleep for a while before going, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't fall asleep. I felt discomfort as if someone was scratching my heart. So, I went there exhausted.

On the way there, I still had a glimmer of hope.

After reading the report, my hope was completely gone.

I never knew why Emily was willing to marry me when she was so good.

Now I finally knew!

The kid was not mine,

but her and her lover's kid!

According to the time calculation, she was already pregnant when she married me. It was funny that I had no idea and thought I had got a treasure.

Again and again, I endured her and her family's unreasonable demands.

If it weren't for her slip of the tongue under general anesthesia, I was afraid I would have been kept in the dark by her for the rest of my life. I would help others raise a kid.

Thinking about this year, I served their family hard, and my anger could no longer be suppressed.

I clenched my fist tightly, wishing to beat her up, asking her why she treated me like this, and how could she treat me as a fool!

I must divorce her!

But it couldn't just end like this.

I wanted her and her adulterer to be brought to ruin and to pay them back for all the shame they had caused me.
