Chapter 3

The thin heel of Brenda's shoes stepped hard on my hand. "What are you trying to do? Thinking of complaining to my husband?"

I screamed from the pain. "I'm Rina Corman! My father won't let you get away with treating me this way!"

Brenda paused and narrowed her eyes to look at me.

I thought she finally realized how similar my eyes were to my father. "If you don't believe me, make a video call to my father right now!"

She unexpectedly laughed as if she were looking at someone dumb. "Can't you make up better stories?"

Her heel forced down on my hand harder, and there was disdain in her eyes. "Everyone knows that Wilson's daughter went blind from saving him. Don't you find it funny how you're glaring at me with your eyes while claiming to be his daughter?"

I felt a chill overcome me as I trembled. I could not say a word. It never occurred to me that my surprise for my father would become the reason I was in danger.

A black hood covered my head.

"Let me go! You don't need to do this! I'm really Rina Corman!"

I struggled with all my might, but it was useless. The bodyguards stuffed me roughly into the boot of the car.

Brenda was pushing them to speed up. "Make it fast or I'll be late to change into my wedding dress."

The car sped up. The ride was bumpy, and I passed out during the journey.

Shrill laughter woke me up, and I slowly regained consciousness.

"What are you doing?! Go away!" I was frightened. I wanted to get up and run.

The sounds of laughter mingled with my hysterical screaming. All the while, Lily kept taking photos from the side.

"Wait a minute. Let me take a better photo of you before continuing. This is a brilliant idea, Brenda! Not only will this vixen be taught an eternal lesson, but it'll also serve as a reminder to Mr. Corman that this little vixen he's secretly keeping is a promiscuous woman. He won't dare cheat on you after you're married."

"It's only right of me as his wife to watch out for him."

I could not remember how long I was tortured. I could no longer see their faces clearly. My condition was like a ragged doll. I could barely move while lying on the ground.

"S-She won't die, will she?"

A bodyguard looked worried. "Miss Brenda, you'll be having your wedding soon. Maybe it's best not to do anything that might bring bad luck. Mr. Corman has always emphasized—"

His words upset Brenda, and she interrupted him with a side glare, "That's just superstition!"

She smiled creepily after that. "But now that you mentioned it, a good day like this might need a splash of red for luck."

Chapter 4

Brenda convinced the bodyguards to hang me up high in the air.

"You…" I was hardly breathing. I looked at the small blade in her hand and began shivering. I begged her, "Please… You can't do this…"

"Why can't I?" Brenda laughed coldly. "You should've prepared yourself to suffer the wrath of the real wife on the day you decided to become someone's mistress."

Blood flowed down from my body. I quivered from the pain. It was so intense that it cleared my mind, and I began screaming hysterically.

Brenda frowned. "You make too much noise."

Lily quickly went along with Brenda and tore a piece of my dress to stuff into my mouth. She looked at me condescendingly, "You're covered with the scent of men, you dirty wench. How disgusting!"

"I should help her, shouldn't I? It's a present for my husband, after all. Her dirty skin can't appear during my wedding. It'd just hurt his eyes."

I twitched from the pain as tears fell from my eyes.

Brenda poked me with her blade with a gleeful look on her face. "I guess the wedding will be perfect today."

My head fell heavily, and I finally stopped trembling.

It was because I had been tortured to death.

However, Brenda continued to get the bodyguards to secure me by running wires through my shoulders. The wires were shaped into wings. After that, they brought over plaster that was freshly mixed. Scoop after scoop of plaster was smothered thickly all over my flesh.

To ensure that the plaster dried quickly, all of the bodyguards used huge dryers on me while Brenda focused on carefully sculpting me with her little blade. My body was eventually turned into a statue of a suffering angel.

"It's gorgeous, Brenda! You always produce such good work! Mr. Corman will never guess that his little vixen is hidden in here!" Lily gushed exaggeratedly. She was almost bowing and scraping at Brenda.

"That's the whole point. He shouldn't notice anything." Brenda lifted her chin higher proudly. "I'll let slip the truth later, and it'll be such a great surprise!"

That was when her phone rang.

"Where are you, Brenda? Why aren't you here doing your makeup?"

It was my father calling. I was a soul now, but that familiar, gentle voice tore my heart apart when I heard it.

Brenda smiled mysteriously. "I'm preparing a present for you."

"Really? That's so sweet of you."

My father sounded happy, and his tone got increasingly loving. "It's about time. Hurry over here. Let's not delay any longer."

"Alright. Wait for me!" Brenda hung up happily.

I was put into a huge, exquisite wooden box and transported to the wedding venue.

My father was in a suit and laughing happily. Curious, he asked, "What's in there? It looks like a huge effort."

It was me…

I shouted with everything I had, but he could not see me.

Brenda hugged his arm and said coyly, "You should open it and have a look, honey."

"Alright."

My father opened it. The life-sized statue caught the attention of all the guests.

"That's a beautiful statue!"

"There's a reason why she's a famous sculptor."

Brenda looked even more proud as the guests praised her work.

Even my father was stunned by what he saw. "Brenda, this is a new milestone in your creative journey. I don't know much about sculptures, but even I can tell the sadness in this young girl who was finally released from her suffering!"

"That's because there really is a young girl in there."

Brenda chuckled.

Brenda, who was in her 40s, blinked playfully as she said, "It's that little vixen you kept hidden away. Since you like her so much, I decided to turn her into a statue. You can put her in the bedroom and see her every night. That way, you won't need to sneak out anymore, right?"
