Chapter 8

Adam turned around and saw the face clearly. His complexion changed, "Pacey."

Pacey looked at him coldly, and smiled at him, "Who are you talking to?"

Adam didn't dare to tell him the truth. Everyone in the company knew that after Sherry left, the first order Pacey made was to prohibit anyone from bothering her with the company business.

He said he didn't want Sherry to worry about the business, but employees had speculated already that he wanted to completely cut off the connection between Sherry and the group.

After all...

As one of the founders, Sherry had an appeal no less than Pacey.

But how could a group have two big bosses?

When the news of Sherry's resignation was released, the employees were in an uproar. Sherry was the first one who stood out to appease them. She, still as gorgeous as ever, smiled and said: "I'm just a little tired over the years and want to return to the family to enjoy peace and happiness. The future of the group will rely on you all. I believe you won't let me down..."

She was always gentle and comforting, except when negotiating.

Adam didn't say anything. Pacey took the phone, which had not been locked, and looked at the call log. "Adam, you've worked here for a long time. Do you need me to teach you the rules?"

Adam bowed and apologized: "Sorry, Pacey."

Pacey looked at him with his deep eyes. It was a long time before he spoke: "What did you say to her?"

He didn't speak. Adam didn't dare to straighten his back or look up without Pacey's agreement. He said: "Just, just greetings. Sherry was kind to me. I haven't seen her for a long time, so I called her and send my regards."

A suspicious person like Pacey won't believe Adam, of course. But he still said: "You should congratulate yourself on being appreciated by her."

Pacey turned to leave when he threw the cell phone at Adam.

After he took four or five steps, Adam straightened up his back and raised his head. He looked at Pacey's back with a complex expression: That's all?

Pacey would let him go just because he was the employee that Sherry appreciated?

In the past two years, Pacey's mind was more and more difficult to fathom.

Laneshire.

After the call hung up, Sherry received an SMS from Adam that he had an urgent thing to deal with and would call her later.

Sherry read the SMS but didn't take it seriously.

After taking a nap, her mind was in a trance. To clear her mind, she went to the bathroom to wash her face with cold water. However, when she opened her eyes, she saw the red blood in the washbasin.

She found her nose bleeding.

She took out one piece of tissue and press her nose with her head down. It bled for two or three minutes before stopping.

She called Pacey and asked him if he could come back earlier today. Pacey said he would come back as soon as possible.

After hesitating for a few minutes, Sherry called the wedding photo studio. "My husband is not available. Please cancel the reservation for me."

The store manager reconfirmed with her that the deposit would not be refunded, because they canceled at the last minute.

Sherry smiled and said, "OK."

After she resigned, he always seemed to be very busy and came back home later and later. Sometimes he even didn't come back at all.

His "as soon as possible" had already become a substitute for "will come back today". It was not that Sherry didn't suspect Pacey had other women behind her back.

But he said his only love was her.

He looked into her eyes and spoke to her so seriously. How could Sherry doubt him?

"Hey, you little bookworm, kick the ball over."

Sherry prepared several dishes in the evening and set up candles on the table. As the minutes ticked by, she fall asleep on the sofa.

In her dream, under the shade tree on the campus, a young man with a ruffian smile deliberately kicked the ball to the position where she read. Facing the wind, he winked with his attractive eyes and called her "little bookworm!".

Chapter 9

In the summer of the second year of senior high school, the sun was scorching and the wind was blowing through the trees.

She was a quiet girl. Although she looks pure and attractive, she is an unwelcome slow starter who wasn't willing to communicate with others. She always sat in a quiet corner, reading a book.

He was an unruly schoolboy. He studied well but also fought with others. With a good-looking face, he was welcomed by girls and had great appeal.

"Hey, what's your problem? How did Sherry annoy you? You've kicked the ball to her three times."

"Pacey, you want to draw Sherry's attention, but she always ignores you. Haha..."

"Lol, you're correct."

Teenagers at that age always had a desire to spy on ambiguous feelings.

The crowd finally shut up when Pacey flexed his wrist, waved his hand, and pretended to attack them.

However, he still needed the ball back.

In crooked school uniform, with his hand in his pocket, he kicked stones on the ground and went straight to Sherry sitting on the bench. The football was not far from her, but she didn't even look at it.

She didn't lift her head until a shadow came down on her and her book, blowing up the sun.

Unexpectedly, his face with a ruffian smile appeared in her eyes: "You despise me, don't you?"

He had a fight yesterday, leaving a wound on his face, but it didn't weaken his handsomeness.

"You're obstructing my reading." She said.

Her voice, as pure and gentle as her appearance, tickled his ears, and his heart.

This feeling arose from the first time he heard her reciting a high-grade essay in the class when he transferred to this school.

"Sherry, we were in the same class, and you wouldn't even help me to pick up a ball. Did I offend you, or do you despise me?" He didn't move away but stepped forward again. She sat there and his calf touched her knee.

Sherry looked at him, then the ball. She closed her book and said, "I picked it up for you once in PE class last month. Since then, you kicked the ball to me every PE lesson. The goal is nearly 500 meters away from me. You, who broke the goal record of school, should be a good shooter. So, I think you are disturbing me on purpose."

As if she was afraid he hadn't understood, or that she hadn't expressed herself clearly enough, she repeated, "You're deliberately asking me to pick up the ball for you...and I refuse."

Pacey wanted to laugh but held back as he listened to her rambling analysis and conclusion. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Well done." He bent his back, with his eyes fixed straight on her, and grinned gangly, "How about, you analyze again why I did what I did?"

He leaned to her that he breathed on her face. Sherry was a little uncomfortable. She frowned and turned away: "You stink."

Pacey: "..."

"Oops", "Haha..."

"It's god damn hilarious. Haha..." The others laugh at him.

They had been playing ball for almost a lesson, and, in such a hot summer. It was very normal that they were sweating and smelled bad. Boys wouldn't feel any dis-comfortable with each other. But now, Pacey, the notorious bully of the school, was disliked by the compliant girl of the class who was known to be gentle and never fight with anyone and even spoke in a soft voice!!!

It was enough to make them laugh for a whole year.

Pacey was angry. He threatened them sinisterly, "Is, that, funny?!"

Crowd: "..." It was funny. But they dare not to admit it.

Midnight. Laneshire.

As soon as Pacey came home, he saw the dim light in the dining room.

On the table, there were some covered meals, and Sherry lay on the sofa, already asleep. Beside her was a packaging bag, on which was her beautiful writing: Happy third anniversary, Pacey.

Pacey was suddenly stunned. He recalled that she had been so inarticulate in the last two days.

He sat beside the sofa and looked at her curled eyelashes, running his long fingers across her cheek, lingering briefly on it before moving his fingertips to her lips.

His fingertips brushed against her soft lips, pressing them and brushing again.

He bent down and covered her mouth with his thin lips, tossing and lingering.

Chapter 10

Pacey carried her back to bed and sat by himself at the table, having the meal on the table. There was all his favorite food.

But it was cold. The good smell of the delicious food has no longer existed.

He tasted all the dishes one by one.

"Send me the Group's newest jewelry for next season." While Pacey was eating the cold food, he called his secretary.

Yolanda Lee hesitated: "You mean, send it to Laneshire?"

Pacey hung up the phone after giving a "hum".

There was an IPad placed on his table and an encrypted folder displayed on the screen. After decoding the file twice, the contents finally showed.

It was the image of the living room, or, to put it bluntly - it was a surveillance video record.

Sherry in the video read books and cooked peacefully, waiting for him to come home. Then, she lay down on the sofa and fell asleep.

Every day was the same as usual. The only difference was that she came back late last night.

Pacey pressed the pause button and looked at the picture after she entered the door. He paid attention to the time displayed on the screen, 10 p.m.

She never came back so late after leaving the company.

Where did she go?

Pacey slowly clenched his fist tightly.

He hated it. He hated that she was out of his control.

"Knock, knock-"

There was a knock at the door and Pacey snapped back to his feet. Outside the door was Yolanda who was holding a shopping bag with the brand's logo on it.

"Pacey." Yolanda, wearing a sexy red V-collar dress and musk perfume, perfectly showed her body superiority. On a night like this, she stood in front of his door, permeated with unspeakable seduction.

When Pacey took the jewelry from her hand, Yolanda stumbled. She explained as he looked at her: "I accidentally twisted my foot on the way here just now."

Pacey turned around, leaving the door open.

A tiny smile showed at the corners of her mouth as Yolanda limped in.

This was the first time she stepped into his house. Pacey bought this villa before Sherry resigned. Few people had come here except the servants who would do regular cleaning.

"Turn left. There is a medicine cabinet in the front drawer. Deal with it yourself." He said as he sat at the table, eating dinner.

Yolanda thought that he let her in because he was willing to help her. After hearing his works, she bit her lips, found the ointment for the sprain, and applied them to her foot randomly, She stole a quick look at Pacey.

"Pacey, these are already cold. Let me heat it for you." Yolanda came over, touched the cold plates, and tried to take over.

Pacey held her hand and looked at her with his dark eyes. "It's not your job."

Yolanda looked at him: "I am willing to do anything for you."

Pacey didn't say anything.

Yolanda sat on his lap and put her arm on his shoulder. "I'll be more obedient than Farida. You know, I'm not even afraid to die for you."

Pacey wanted to push her away, but he stopped because of her words: "I'm not even afraid to die for you."

Yolanda leaned on his shoulder. "I won't get pregnant. I'm more obedient than Farida and love you more than Sherry. I've been with you all these years and have never done anything that makes you unhappy. I love you, not for the birthright, and I won't disturb you and Sherry. I know your rules. I won't bring any trouble to Sherry like Wynne..."

Yolanda was a smart woman. She knew what Pacey cared about, so she didn't make a move until she thought she was ready.

Her red lips were like dewy flowers waiting to be plucked.

Yolanda believed that now was the best time.

But——

Pacey pushed her away. He leaned back in his chair."This is not the place for you to stay, please go back."

At that time, Sherry in the bedroom woke up vaguely and found herself lying in bed instead of on the sofa. She smiled and got out of bed, "Pacey."
