Chapter 1

At the wedding door games, my best friend, Justin Winston, suggests that my fiancee, Tiffany Bastion, feel everyone's abs while blindfolded so that she can guess who the groom actually is.

Amid everyone's cheers, Tiffany gives every groomsman a nice feel before shaking her head firmly.

"This is too easy! If I can't even recognize my own husband, we might as well call off the wedding!"

When Tiffany is about to touch me, Justin suddenly flashes me a mysterious smile. Then, he takes off his shirt and moves to stand in front of her.

The next moment, Tiffany shrieks excitedly, "This is my husband! I can't be wrong about this!"

Justin lets out a chortle. Then, he grabs Tiffany by the wrist and begins navigating her hand from his abs down to his groin.

"Why don't you give this a good feel? Do you still think this is your husband?"

Tiffany just smiles bashfully as she roams her hands all over Justin's body.

As I look at the pair's overly intimate actions, I sneer at them before stuffing the wedding bouquet into Justin's hands.

"Since you two are in sync with each other that much, you might as well host this wedding on your own."

Tiffany Bastion removed the mask and demanded, "Why are you throwing a fit, Nathan Heaton? Why are you threatening to call off the wedding? What do you take me for?"

"You're the one who said that you'll call off the wedding if you can't even identify your own husband with just your touch," I retorted.

Tiffany was briefly stunned before she started laughing. "Oh, I see. You're jealous. Okay, that's enough. It's just a game. Besides, you and Justin grew up together. It's not like he's a stranger."

A stranger, huh?

In the past, when Tiffany lost a game of Truth or Dare, she and Justin Winston fed each other alcohol right in front of me.

During her bachelorette party, she slept in the same bed as Justin after exhausting herself from celebrating too much.

Tiffany would always use the same damned excuse that Justin wasn't a stranger to smooth things over whenever I confronted her about her behavior.

Even today, during such an important occasion, she trampled all over my reputation in front of my friends and family. She even had the nerve to ask me to forget what I had seen.

It was preposterous!

I scoffed. "You touched everyone else, but Justin was the only one whom you immediately identified as your husband after you touched him. I'm guessing that you're already intimately familiar with the shape of his body. That's why you accidentally let the truth slip out."

"I'm not," Tiffany said, her eyes reddening as she shook her head.

Justin, who had remained silent the entire time, stepped forward and pulled Tiffany behind him.

"Why are you slandering your fiancee like this, Nate? I can pretend that I didn't hear what you just said, so stop being so stubborn."

He offered the bouquet back to me and continued, "Why don't we discuss this later after the wedding? Let's not delay the ceremony any longer."

I didn't take the bouquet and let it fall to the floor, causing the petals to scatter everywhere.

My tone was as cold as ice when I stared into Justin's bewildered eyes and hissed, "I'm being stubborn? The rest of the groomsmen remained in their spots. You're the only one who took off your shirt and approached her.

"Were you trying to help her identify her husband, Justin? Or were you trying to get her to admit that you're her husband?"

Justin couldn't keep the smile on his face upon hearing my words.

"Watch your tongue, Nate."

I ripped off my boutonniere, then flung it to the floor and ground it under my shoe.

"I had 18 potential marriage partners at the time. All of them were esteemed heiresses of their respective families. However, among the choices available to me, I chose Tiffany Bastion, an heiress whose family was teetering on the brink of bankruptcy.

"In the last six months since we became engaged, I invested no less than one billion dollars into Bastion Group and forcefully dragged her family back into the circle of elites of this city.

"I didn't spend so much time and money just for you to anger me. Tiffany, you just claimed that Justin was your husband. Fine then. Be sure to look for him whenever the Bastion family needs investments in the future."

Tiffany's parents immediately panicked upon hearing my words.

"It's Tiffany's first time getting married. She just said the wrong thing because she was too nervous. You're a magnanimous man, Nate. I hope you don't hold this against her."

Tiffany bit her lip when she noticed that I wasn't moved. A long moment passed before she lowered her head and said, "I acted out of line earlier, Nate. Why don't you tell me what you want? I'll agree to anything that you ask of me."

Chapter 2

In the end, Tiffany signed a contract.

With our friends as witnesses, she promised to keep her distance from Justin and never do anything that crossed the line ever again. Only then did I agree to continue the wedding ceremony.

We had just got into our wedding car when her phone started ringing.

The words "Husband A" flashed on the screen.

"I'll wait for you in the dressing room in the hotel. I haven't forgotten the promise that I made to you last night. I'll personally put on your veil for you and send you down the aisle."

I snatched Tiffany's phone from her and swiftly unlocked it.

Two names were pinned to the top of her chat.

One of them was "Husband A", and the other one was "Husband B".

After looking at the profile pictures, I immediately recognized that "Husband A" was Justin, and I was "Husband B".

I thought about how, when Tiffany and I had just become a couple, she had sweetly said, "I'm going to change your nickname in my phone to 'Husband.' That way, I'll immediately know that it's you whenever you text me!"

I never would have guessed that she could split her heart in two and give each half to a different person.

I pointed the phone screen at Tiffany and asked, "What's his name?"

"I changed his name when we were playing a game earlier," Tiffany answered guiltily. "I just forgot to change it back. I'm sorry. I'll change it right now."

I moved my hand out of the way when she tried to snatch the phone from me.

"I asked you a question," I said. "What's his name?"

"Justin Winston…"

"Well, it seems that you still remember his name," I sneered, throwing the phone at her. "I was wondering when the childhood friend I had known for the past 12 years changed his name to 'Husband'."

The color immediately drained from Tiffany's face. She swiftly blocked Justin's number right in front of me and also exited the group chats with her toxic friends. She then handed me the phone of her own volition, letting me check it.

I didn't look through her phone. Instead, I kept my eyes on the scenery outside and calmly said, "You've just used your second chance. If you don't clean up your act, Tiffany, there are plenty of people waiting to fill the position of Mrs. Heaton."

Silence descended upon the car.

I got out of the car first when it slowed to a stop in front of the wedding venue.

Mom had somehow caught wind of the rumors. She glanced between us and asked, "Why the long faces on what's supposed to be a happy occasion? I'm guessing that the rumors are true. Did someone cause trouble when you picked Tiffany up?"

I didn't say a single word. On the contrary, Tiffany was the one who began explaining the situation of her own accord.

"No. It's my fault for being so forgetful. Nate's just upset because I nearly delayed the ceremony."

I hummed in response.

I wasn't bothered enough to find out whether Tiffany was actually behaving herself or just putting on an act. After all, I had chosen her to be my marriage partner in the first place because she didn't carry herself with the delicate demeanor like the other socialites.

The Heatons were an esteemed family with a successful business. I just needed my future wife to be obedient and follow the rules.

It was why I agreed to invest in Bastion Group when they asked. I also allowed them to use my reputation to act arrogantly among the city's elites.

However, Mom wasn't as easy to fool.

She froze all of Justin's cards on the spot and announced that he and the Heaton family would have nothing to do with each other from that day on.

Besides, Justin was just the son of the Heaton family's driver.

When the Heatons were embroiled in a family feud, one of my uncles, Kenneth Heaton, sabotaged Dad's car.

During a critical moment, Justin's father, Elias Winston, sacrificed his life to keep Dad safe.

To show his gratitude for Elias' sacrifice, Dad allowed Justin, who had lost both his parents when he was only eight years old, to stay with the Heaton family. It was why we grew up together.

However, it seemed that Justin had forgotten his roots since he was foolishly trying to challenge me.

Chapter 3

It didn't take long before the news spread among the elites.

The scions who used to treat Justin as if he were their own brother immediately severed their ties with him. Even his business partners silently but swiftly retracted their funding.

Panicking, Justin sent me a few apologetic voice messages.

I didn't even get a chance to listen to them before Tiffany kicked the door open. She held up the hem of her wedding dress as she dashed into the room, looking furious.

"Didn't I already sign a contract, Nathan? Why are you still cornering Justin into a dead end? He was orphaned as a child. It took a lot of hard work for him to get to where he is now, but your mother has totally cut off all his options. Don't you think that you're bullying him too much?"

I stared at the wedding dress that she was wearing.

I suddenly recalled that three days ago, I received a call from the bridal studio. They informed me that Tiffany had changed her wedding dress and asked if I wanted to change my suit as well.

I didn't think too much about it at the time, and asked the staff member to change my suit to match her dress.

After all, Tiffany had been debating between a mermaid dress and a princess dress during her fitting sessions.

However, the dress that she was wearing now was one that I had never seen before. It was a Flutoran-style wedding dress with a plunging neckline.

If I remembered correctly, Justin was the one who chose a dress with a plunging neckline in the beginning.

I couldn't help but wonder if Tiffany respected me in the slightest at all. How dare she flirt with Justin right under my nose?

I interrupted her incessant nagging and said, "So, you believe that Justin didn't do anything wrong, even though he was a freeloader in my house for so many years and pretended to be the heir of the Heaton family to act arrogantly in public?

"You don't think that he's in the wrong, even though we helped him with his tiny company so he could rake in the profits? Even though he continued flirting with my fiancee during my wedding ceremony?"

"He was just fooling around," Tiffany retorted in a high-pitched voice, sounding displeased. "Must you make a mountain out of a molehill? You're clearly the one who's in the wrong!"

I slowly narrowed my eyes as I approached her.

"You're right. I was wrong for trying to give you a third chance and for allowing you to provoke me so fearlessly. Since that's the case, you should go ahead and marry Justin. Don't forget to stay by his side when he's having a rough time."

I turned around and left the lounge after I was done speaking.

"Do you really believe that I'm going to regret not marrying you?" Tiffany shrieked from behind me, sounding like she was teetering on the edge of a breakdown. "I've long grown tired of dealing with a bully like you who abuses his powers to harass other people!"

I ignored her and ordered my assistant, Jamie Frisk, to cancel the wedding ceremony.

I was curious to see how the Bastion family would deal with the crisis.

However, I was just about to leave the venue when Jamie called me, sounding panicked.

"An issue came up at the wedding venue, Mr. Heaton. I'm afraid that I can't cancel the ceremony."

He seemed to struggle for the right words to say before he sighed and continued, "Why don't you come to the second floor and take a look for yourself?"

When I got to the second floor, I immediately understood what the issue was.

The wedding ceremony was still proceeding. However, the wedding photo of Tiffany and me that had been placed at the entrance had been replaced by a photo of her and Justin.

Meanwhile, the welcome message on the sign read, "Nathan Heaton and dogs are forbidden from entering the hall."
