Chapter 1

Since her father passed away ten years ago, Lexi Mitchell has lived a simple life with her mother.

As Lexi's 18th birthday approached, her mother told her that she planned to remarry. Lexi readily supported her decision and was happy for her mother, Jessica.

Weeks later, Lexi moved to a new pack with her mother, and besides her stepfather, Lexi met two familiar faces, Nolan and Nathaniel. The two bad-boy brothers who used to bully Lexi in school turned out to be her stepbrothers.

Prologue

Lexi Mitchell’s pov

The first day of spring break I was free from school for an entire week. Stretching in my bed I smiled seeing the sun shining through the window in my small room.

My 18th birthday was just a couple of months away. I was debating on whether to stay with my mom or leave the pack and bullying behind me.

Living with my mom in a trailer on our pack's land was delightful and much better than the crowded pack house. I wasn't bullied by my classmates here and it helped with my sanity.

It wasn't my fault that I excelled in my classes and had a 4.0 average.

I wasn't interested in flirting or sleeping around with the other pack boys, not that I was innocent. I had already been intimate with an old boyfriend I had in my freshman year but he dumped me soon after finding his actual mate. At eighteen we would be able to find our mates and that was exactly what had happened to Marcus. It was heartbreaking for me so I kept myself away from the opposite sex.

Since then it has been just me on my own with my mom so I focused on my school work and nothing else. She worked as a waitress and was hardly ever around and I enjoyed the solitude.

Sitting up the aroma of pancakes and my mother's cheery voice humming a melody brought a grin to my face.

Rushing to the tiny kitchen I see her twirling around the room starry-eyed and grinning while talking on her cell phone.

Surprised by her happiness, I whispered to her.

“What is going on, did we hit the lottery?’

“Oh sweetie, we need to talk,” she muttered while covering the receiver.

She then quickly ended the call and brought me an enormous plate stacked with pancakes.

Raising my brow I shrugged and said, “Sure Mom, speak with me while I eat. You know that I love your pancakes.”

Eyeing the steam coming from the stacked plate I licked my lips as I began cutting the pancakes with my fork.

“As you know um, well since your father passed I have been lonely and unhappy,” she started and I chewed slowly seeing the worry in her eyes.

“I have been dating a man for about a year now and, well, he proposed to me last week and I told him yes. He is a great man and has a couple of kind sons as well,” she said softly and waited for me to respond.

Swallowing my mouthful of food I cleared my throat and glanced at her.

“Does he treat you well?”

She nodded and said, “Yes, he is a very attractive and sweet man.”

Curling my lip I nodded.

“Dad would have wanted you to move on and find happiness, so if you're happy then I'm happy for you,” I told her, being genuinely delighted for her.

My mother still looked concerned and sat down at the table and wrung her hands.

“Jonathan lives in a different pack and the moving trucks are coming today. You will have to finish your senior year at the Blue Moon Pack's school,” she announced as my eyes widened.

Little did she know that was fantastic news for me. I could finally be free of my tormentors.

“Well, I should start packing then!”

Smiling, my mom shook her head.

“No need sweetie, Mr. Sparks said that the movers will handle it all but pack some luggage for the trip across the country, we will be driving there.”

My eyes narrowed at the mention of the surname Sparks. It was the same one as the pair of my worst bullies. It couldn't be those two since they lived with their mother in our pack so it was just a coincidence.

Seeing my mom biting her bottom lip and on the verge of tears I asked her what was wrong. She hugged me tightly and sighed.

“I was so worried that you would be upset with me. His sons are super nice and I'm certain that you will get along great with them,” she announced, ending her hug and grinning down at me.

“Finish your breakfast, Lexi, you and are going to go shopping for new wardrobes, Jonathan’s direct order. He sent a large sum of money to my card,” she chuckled and I eyed her oddly.

“Is my soon-to-be new stepdad rich?”

My mom pinched her lips and shrugged her shoulders.

“We never discussed finances. Just that he would take care of all the moving expenses. The pack he is in is across the country. I have never been to his home and have only met with him here with his boys,” she proclaimed.

Rolling my eyes I feared she had been bamboozled.

We could end up in an old plywood shack in the middle of a secluded forest but if she was happy I would be too.

“I need to get ready and I need to call Rose and let her know that I am going to another pack,” I told her with a smirk. Rose was my on-and-off-again friend and honestly wouldn't be missed. I didn't have any close friends besides my mom and wolf.

“Alright but be ready in an hour or I'm picking out your clothes,” she teased and I shook my head as I quickly devoured my breakfast.

Chapter 2

Lexi Mitchell’s pov Weeks Later

My butt and back were hurting from sitting in the passenger seat of my mom's car.

After shopping for entire new wardrobes my mom had them shipped to our new address.

We locked up the trailer and said farewell to the pack members as we began our travel.

Relief flooded me at seeing the students for the very last time. I vowed to myself that I would prosper in the new environment. My wolf, Nova, was cheering for me as well and was yipping excitedly in my subconscious.

Having driven from our pack lands in Maine to Oregon with hardly any stops in between I was cramped. Once we reached the state line I eyed my mother.

“Can we please stop so I can stretch out my legs,” I begged my mom.

“Yeah, we can and I will call Johnathan and inform him of our progress. I will stop at the gas station for more fuel,” she replied and I thanked her profusely.

My mother was overly excited about getting to this Johnathan and she was currently programming her GPS for his home address.

“Only fifty more miles and we will be at our new life,” she said excitedly. I pinched my lips together and told her great.

We stopped by a tiny gas station that looked more like a murder mart. I didn't stray away from the car and simply stretched and took a few laps around the pumps and car as she filled up the tank.

After she finished fueling we were already back on the highway and headed toward the mountains.

I returned to stare out the window at the ponderosa pines that littered the landscape.

It was beautiful scenery and full of space for a werewolf to frolic.

We turned off onto a long gravel drive and I side-eyed my mom feeling that the plywood shack would be making its appearance shortly.

Boy, had I been mistaken…

The first thing that caught my eye was the rod iron sign over the road that read Blue Moon.

As we continued up the road two large pack houses were on either side of the asphalt road and a roundabout had a large marble fountain in the middle of it.

“Help me look for a driveway with two lamp posts,” my mom mumbled.

“You're as surprised by this as me, right?”

She looked at me with a smirk.

“Not really, Johnathan is the Alpha of the Blue Moon pack,” she said with a grin.

“What, you are going to become Luna?!”

She looked at me and nodded. My hand went to cover my gasp. I couldn't believe that she and I were going to be at such a high status.

“Why didn't you tell me prior?”

“He asked me not to mention it and that it was unimportant.”

Rolling my eyes I muttered, “The fear of a plywood shack wouldn't have crossed my thoughts,” I muttered.

Laughing, her eyes widened suddenly.

“There it is,” she announced excitedly as she continued up in the driveway.

The huge immaculate house came into view and my eyes widened.

“Holy crap, Mom,” I burst out to hear her chuckle.

“Guess Johnathan wasn't joking about taking care of everything,” she sighed and pulled off the driveway to park near a couple of black SUVs.

Leaning back she said,” Let's grab our things and go to our new house.”

Still in complete shock, I got out and grabbed my things from the back seat.

As we walked up the stairs the front door opened and an attractive older man came rushing down the stairs. The big smile on his face was directed towards my mom. I figured that he was the one who was to become my stepdad.

“Jessica, my dear, you made it safely. You should have flown,” he said firmly as he embraced her and glanced over at me.

“I told you during our conversation that I wanted to spend time with my daughter,” she replied and his eyes fell on me.

“You must be Alexandria, your mother has told me a lot about you. I hope that you will be comfortable in your new life,” he said encouragingly.

“I prefer just Lexi, Sir,” I commented kindly.

“As you wish, Lexi,” he grinned.

Gesturing toward his home he told me and my mom that I had a room prepared upstairs.

Once I entered the large foyer my luggage dropped from my hand as I glanced around the enormous luxurious home.

I could see an Olympic-sized pool through the full glass wall on the other side of the enormous living room.

My mom came to my side and squeezed my hand.

“It's like a dream come true, isn't it,” she whispered in excitement.

I closed my mouth that was hanging open and nodded.

“It certainly beats the trailer we were staying in,” I responded to hear her laughing.

“You never mentioned that you had all of this,” she said softly to Johnathan standing next to her.

He pecked her cheek and grinned.

“True, but now I'm certain that you love me for who I am instead of what I have.”

I watched another older man heading toward us.

“Ladies this man here is my Beta Ryan, please meet my fiance Jessica and her daughter Lexi,” Jonathan asserted.

Ryan shook my hand and smiled at me.

“My son is about your age and is named Sloan. I can see if he can help you with your school schedule since he is at the top of his classes,” he informed me proudly.

“Thank you, sir, I would appreciate that,” I responded and Johnathan interrupted and told him that his sons could help me with all of that.

Watching Ryan bite his lip as he nodded. He glanced at me with concern that sparked my curiosity.

“Sorry for being presumptuous Lexi, I will see you around, good evening Alpha, Luna,” he said curtly and rushed off.

The alpha snapped his fingers and a young housekeeper came hurrying into the foyer with a feather duster in her hand. I laughed at her quickly hiding it behind her back as she approached Johnathan.

“Lilly, I'm assigning you to assist Lexi, she is the daughter of my soon-to-be wife and Luna. Please take her and show her to her room and assist her with whatever she may need,” he asserted.

“Yes, Alpha. Come with me, miss,” she said kindly.

Grabbing my bag I started to follow but as we reached the landing Johnathan shouted up at us.

“Be sure she is dressed appropriately for dinner Lilly!”

Glancing down at my mom I sent her a questioning glare. It seemed to be that Mister Sparks was a controlling blowhard underneath his kind exterior. My mom shook her head at me and walked away with him.

“Is he always an ass,” I questioned the housekeeper and the younger woman curled her lip, remaining quiet as she gestured for me to continue to follow her.

On the second floor, there was a long hall with a sitting area separating the length.

“Your room is the double doors at the end of the hall to your right. The boys are on the left across from yours and this area is for you and the Alpha's sons to watch television and play darts and pool,” she informed me.

Glancing at the room we entered I can see a sectional, flatscreen television, and a large window with a pool table in front of it. There was a full deck that was through the sliding glass doors.

“There are stairs that lead from the deck down to the pool,” she added.

My eyes were scanning everything in utter shock. Continuing down the hall she brought me to my room and I swallowed in surprise at the huge area.

“This is larger than our entire trailer,” I muttered in disbelief. It was like being placed in a fairytale.

I walked past Lily who was holding open both doors to see all the items in my room.

“Introduce us to our new sister, Lily,” a familiar man's voice suddenly said.

Whipping my head in the direction of the voice I almost screamed. Standing there was Nolan and Nathan Sparks. The very same tormentors from my old pack and they looked as startled as I was.

Chapter 3

Lexi's pov

“YOU?!” They both proclaimed in blatant disgust.

I wasn't pleased either but ignored them both as Lilly shooed them from my room by waving the feather duster at them and closed both doors.

Clenching my fists, my jaw twitched as I turned to the housekeeper.

“Sorry Miss, those two can be obnoxious and rude,” she commented.

Nodding, I told her that I was very much aware.

Lilly continued strolling through my room and pointed out the ensuite along with the door to my closet.

“The Alpha had all your clothes pressed and hung for you when they arrived in boxes. All your bathing necessities are in the cabinet in the facilities. Dinner is at six each day and you are expected to be dressed appropriately. The Alpha is a stickler for promptness and etiquette,” she muttered and I raised my blonde brow.

“So no elbows on the table and make sure to use the correct fork, that's what you are implying,” I asked in humor.

Nodding briskly she told me, “ Oh yes, dear, you don't want to get on the Alpha's bad side nor his son's.

Swallowing uncomfortably I exhaled and answered, “Gotcha.”

“I will leave you so you can relax. If you need me for anything just use that pull cord on the wall there and I will come,” she asserted as she pointed at a length of velvet material with golden tassels on it.

“Thank you, Lilly.”

She smiled, nodded, and scurried from my room.

Sitting on the edge of my bed I exhaled deeply.

“Great, my new dad is a control freak and my step-siblings are my worst bullies. Mother what have you done to us,” I muttered and rubbed my eyes as memories of the evil brothers began flooding my brain.

I knew them from my old pack house school…

Nathan and Nolan Sparks were famous bad boys in my school. They are handsome of course and they never slept with the same girl twice, all the girls at my old school wished to date them at least once.

I didn’t have much interest in the popular brothers, and neither did I feel they would have any interest in me since I was a typical nerd due to having my nose always buried in my textbooks.

Until that fateful day when Rose asked me to help her take revenge on them both.

“In hindsight, I should have refused,” I mused.

Anyway Rose wanted to hook up with the two brothers again, but they were not interested in her but showed their interest in me presumably.

Rose was angry because she thought she was much more pretty than I was, such a bitch.

She told me that they dumped her after having a threesome and she wanted revenge. Asking me to please ask them out to the pack house bar. Since my mom waitressed there she figured that I could easily sneak in.

It sounded like a stupid plan yet I followed through with it. When the brothers both agreed to meet me I was surprised.

That night in the bar Rose secretly filmed the video of the two brothers being stood up and posted it on the Pack House School F******k page typing that I had stood up the two sparkling gemstones of the school.

The two brothers thought this prank was done by me, so they started bullying me terribly.

They were assholes and called me horrible names and spread rumors. Other students began following suit telling me I was stuck up and stupid if I thought I was better than the brothers. I became more introverted and just focused more on my schoolwork.

Rose and I talked less and I became an outcast. She and I reconciled eventually but the gray cloud over me had never faded.

Frowning over my thoughts I stood and headed into my walk-in closet.

“Some crappy fairy tale, eh, Wolf,” I muttered to Nova.

She huffed in my mind and remained silent.

“You are lucky that you haven't any issues,” I snapped at her and got a low growl in reply.

Rummaging through the clothes I had purchased with my mom I also noticed several other items that I knew I hadn't chosen.

Taking out a short red cocktail dress my brow furrowed seeing the low neckline and high slits on both sides.

“Pervert alert,” I muttered as I hung it back on the rack.

Chewing on my lip I was curious about what my new stepdad considered proper attire.

Finding a nice blouse and pair of dress pants I figured it was proper enough and went to change. It was already five forty and I was famished.

“Hope I don't lose my appetite having to be in the presence of the sparkle brothers,” I snickered and entered my bathroom.

Several minutes later I heard a knock at my door and went to open it.

My mom stood there smiling and dressed in a stunning gown.

“Wow, you look fabulous,” I commented as she laughed and did a full circle for me.

“Johnathan asked me to wear it for dinner. He has fabulous taste,” she preened then glanced at what I was wearing.

Suddenly pouting she asked me if I had a gown.

“Nope, just an inappropriate cocktail dress that I wouldn't be caught dead in. This outfit is comfortable and will do,” I stated firmly.

She shrugged and told me she was going to escort me to the dining room.

Tucking my hand in hers we headed down the stairs and she filled me in on the layout of the main floor.

Mentally I kept track of everything she was telling me as we entered the dining room and all the men were standing there waiting for us.

“Boys this lovely young lady is your new step-sister, Lexi,” Johnathan announced. I gave them an awkward wave.

I refused to even acknowledge their existence. Keeping my eyes from either of them I made my way to the empty chair I noticed.

“Let me get that for you,” Nathan said through pinched lips.

Glancing up at him as I sat I saw his eyes focused down my blouse and I scooted the chair from his hands and gave him a curt, “Thanks.”

Nathan gave me a smirk and returned to his seat.

The kitchen staff brought out the meal and everyone got their plates filled with succulent items.

As I continued to ignore my step-siblings Johnathan asked me how old I was.

“I'm seventeen sir and will turn eighteen in a couple of months,” I replied.

He nodded and wiped his mouth with his cloth napkin.

“Nathan and Nolan used to live with their mother at your old pack for a time, maybe you know each other or have met before,” he probed.

Glancing up at both of them my brow creased and I shook my head not answering him with words and instead took a bite of my braised chicken.

“You can go to my pack school Lexi, the boys can take you tomorrow since classes have resumed and you can finish your senior year here,” he added.

Swallowing uncomfortably I nodded.

“Okay sir,” I replied meekly.

After dinner was finished I asked to be excused, planning to retreat to my room.

“Honey, don't you want to spend time together with me and your new family,” my mom asked.

Johnathan interrupted her and said, “ Jessica, she's already experienced enough, let her decompress.”

Thanking him for understanding I hurried back to the safety of my room. Reaching the stairs I heard Nolan speak.

“Lilly will wake you up in the morning so you will have ample time to get ready and we will transport you to the school.”

Glancing over at him I nodded and continued up the stairs.

Finding more clothing items in the wall-length dresser I went to change into some pajamas. It was still early but I wanted to be bright-eyed and fresh for my first day in my new classes.

My bed was comfortable and soon I was sawing logs. Sometime during the night, I awoke with a dry mouth and wanted a glass of water.

Checking for a clock I didn't see one in my room anywhere. Glancing out my window and seeing the night sky I figured it was too late to rouse Lilly.

Scooting out of bed in a sleepy state I shuffled myself out of my room and used my wolf vision to find the kitchen.

Being as quiet as I could I tiptoed past the guy's bedroom and hurried to the staircase.

Finding the kitchen thanks to my mom's description I found a glass and filled it with ice water from the refrigerator.

After washing the glass and returning to the cabinet I hurried back to my room.

Sneaking into my room I closed the door softly and turned to return to my bed.

The lamp on my nightstand flicked on and both Nathan and Nolan were standing in my room.

“Thanks for the heads up,” I scolded my wolf Nova as I crossed my arms over my chest and eyed the pair.
