Chapter 4

AUDREY

His handsome face hovered over mine, his look, expressing passion and desire. Slowly, he inched closer and kissed my lips. I was shocked at first, but his kiss became more drawing and intoxicating. I threw caution to the wind and wrapped my hands around his nape, drawing him closer.

The result was our bodies crashing against each other in a hot frenzy. A gasp escaped my lips as I felt his bulge against my center. His body felt warm and fit against mine. My center twitched as he kept grinding into me. I threw my head back and let out a soft moan.

I knew he was my best friend, and I couldn't explain how we got to the point of making out, but I liked it—hell, I loved it. He removed his lips, but just to slide down my panties. That was when I realized I was only in panties.

He pinched my exposed nipples lightly, and I whimpered. Soon, my panties were apart from me, and I lay naked under the dark and hungry gaze of William Flynn. Who would have thought? This had better not be a dream. Liam stood up on the bed—my bed—and slid out of his thong, exposing his long and hard dick to my pleasuring view.

"Wow!" I couldn't help but exclaim, but my voice had changed drastically, becoming breathy and husky. I saw him chuckle. Gosh! He was so handsome.

"You like what you see?"

I nodded. I couldn't process words anymore. All I wanted was to have him inside of me—thrusting, grinding, and loving. My center was already flowing in anticipation. He came on top of me while stroking his dick and grinning at me.

Then, his hands sought my clits, stroking it, and I squirmed. I threw my head backward, enjoying every touch that sent rippling shivers down my spine.

I gasped loudly when I felt him penetrate my center. He felt so huge but right. With slow thrusts, he found his way deeper into me.

"Yeah! Liam," I moaned, holding his waist and pushing myself up to meet him.

"I'm gonna make you cum while screaming my name," he said, thrusting deeper. My whole body shook, and my center never ceased to appraise him with juices.

It was so sweet, so right, and intoxicating. I heard Liam's grunts, and I felt so blissful that I was the one eliciting those heavenly sounds from him—not those other girlfriends of his. I closed my eyes as I neared my climax, swinging my waist in sync with Liam's.

My eyes fluttered open, taking in my environment. I was still in my room, but Liam was no longer on top of me, and my clothes were still on. The only difference was my damp panties.

Wait... What? I sat up, my eyes bulging out. Was this a dream? That was the only explanation. My head ached so badly. I groaned, holding my head with both hands.

In flashes, the memories of earlier came rushing to me. I remember attending a party with Lislie. It was there that I met Evie and Patty. I remembered seeing Liam grinding a girl at a corner in that sitting room, which caused me to down several glasses of champagne.

Then, how did I get here? I couldn't remember coming back. Yeah! I had walked toward the bathroom to relieve myself, but that was it. That was where my mind drew blank. Then, this erotic dream. Ugh! What in heaven's name was wrong with me? Hearing the sound of water from the bathroom sent shivers through my spine. Was this really a dream? Did I just have sex with my best friend?

Then the bathroom door opened, and Liam stepped into the room with a towel tied around his waist. He smiled as his gaze rested on me.

"Hey, stranger. You are up."

I forced a smile, ignoring my fluttering heart and my damp panties. "Hey, Liam. Yeah, I am up. How did I get here and with you?"

He chuckled, sitting at the edge of the bed. My eyes zeroed in on his hard, broad chest and his astoundingly flat tummy—he was really a work of art.

"I was lucky to have walked into the male bathroom, and I caught you just as you were about to hit the ground. And I decided to take you home. I found out from Lis that you downed several glasses of Champagne in quick succession. Whoa, bestie! That's not like you. Were you that thirsty?" He asked, peering closely at me, and I smiled.

So, that was just it? A good best friend driving his drunk best friend home. Then, why was he in the shower if nothing happened between us?

"So, why were you in the shower?"

He began scratching his head, and my heart quickened its pace. Was he about to confirm taking advantage of me in my drunken state? Because the image of our having sex was too vivid to be called a dream. Yeah, that was it.

"This might sound gross..." I couldn't help but furrow my eyebrows in confusion. Was he trying to say that having sex with me was gross?

"I had sex with Winnifred at the party. So, when I drove you down here, I decided to have a shower. I hope you don't mind?"

My head spun with each statement, and my heart ripped into a thousand pieces. I wondered why this was happening. This wasn't the first time Liam had told me about his escapades, why was I beaten low by this one? Because I thought the sex was real, and not a dream. Now, I was convinced that it really was a dream.

"I presume Winnifred was the girl that you were grinding at the dining area, right?" My voice was surprisingly low, and I hated it.

"Yeah. We are in the same department." I caught a glimpse of the girl at the party, and she wasn't in any way prettier than I was. Why her?

"It's fine. No problem. Are you sleeping over?"

I desperately wanted him to say yes because I longed for his company. We didn't really spend much time today, and we weren't even in the same department. He majored in Business Management, while I majored in Arts and Design.

"I'm not sure, bestie. Winnie is still at the party. I want to go pick her up. My coming back is under probability, but if I can, I will."

I nodded, and he stood up to dress up. There he was, tying my towel around his waist after showering in my bathroom, yet nothing happened between us—that was saddening. As he turned, I had a full view of his ass—firm and inviting. I closed my eyes and bit my lips.

What was wrong with me? "I'm done, bestie." He came closer to where I sat and hugged me. Leaning back, he pecked me lightly on the lips and rubbed my hair softly. "Take care, okay? I will call you to know if I will drop by or not."

"Okay. You, too, take care." He smiled at me before walking out the door. As he left, my room suddenly became empty, but I was comforted by his scent, which was still strong and embedded in my shoulders and clothes. I rested back against the headboard, with my eyes closed. I had finally found a word, or rather words, to describe this weird feeling of mine—I was falling for my best friend, Liam!

Chapter 5

AUDREY

After a few minutes of ringing the doorbell, Dad opened the door with a grin plastered on his face.

"Welcome, munch." I narrowed my eyebrows at him. I could identify that grin from anywhere. It wasn't ordinary; he surely had something up his sleeve.

"Spill," I said, stepping into the sitting room, my eyes resting on a silver fancy gift box. Wow!

I looked up at him. "You went shopping for me?" I alternated my gaze between him and the box.

"Nope, I didn't. Someone had it delivered."

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "Who could it be?" Whoops, I didn't just ask that. How the hell was he supposed to know? His shrugs and reply of "I don't know" lent credence to my stupid question.

"Maybe you should read the note that is inside the box. It might give a clue of who he is," he added with a wink, which earned him a narrowed gaze as I closed the door behind me.

"What made you think it's a he?" I challenged. Although I knew that it was very much possible for it to be a he, I just wanted to play with his mind a little.

"I can remember someone telling me that she's into girls." A smile crept across my face as I observed the box. I could sense the trepidation in his voice. So, I decided to allay his obvious fear.

"I'm not. Just joking," I replied, tossing him a glance over my shoulders. He smiled in relief before heading towards his room.

"Oh, before I forget. We have dinner with the Flynns tonight at 7 pm."

At the mention of the Flynns, my mind picked on the dream I had last night and my heart fluttered. Well, it had been fluttering a lot these days, especially at the sound of anything that concerned Liam or the sight of him.

"Okay, Dad," he replied before he retreated to his room. I opened the box and found a neatly folded short dinner gown—silver and shiny. Wow! Armless? I had never worn a dinner gown with arms, let alone one that had no arms. Seriously, who could this mysterious person be? The card didn't say anything about his identity.

As I removed the gown to examine it, I saw another shocker. I thought it was only a gown that was contained in the box, but no, I was wrong. My eyes fell on a pair of black gorgeous heels. My jaw dropped. Who on Earth would gift me a dinner gown and heels?

My mind shifted to Lislie and Evie, and I shook my head. Despite the fact that they had been fussing about my always wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and flannel shirts, they wouldn't go as far as gifting me with these.

Could it be that I had a secret admirer? I chuckled at the thought as I arranged the gift back in its hold. They were really beautiful, but I didn't see myself wearing them.

I ascended the stairs to my room with the box in my arms. Whoever it was would surface one day. I just had to take my bath, eat lunch, and relax my nerves a bit before preparing for dinner. Going for dinner or lunch together with the Flynns had been our tradition since our families became closer _because of us _ that was years ago, even before my mum died. Our families usually exchanged treats and it was a fun activity for us.

The thought that I was going to see him this evening gladdened my heart. I avoided him throughout today because I was angry that he did not drop by again after going to drop off that new mate of his. I wanted him to be with me and not the said Winnifred.

I was greatly surprised at myself and these newfound feelings of mine, but nothing could be done. As far as I knew, it sprang up on its own. I just had to hope that by luck or fate, Liam would one day come to see me the way I do him, and I prayed it would be sooner.

~~~~~~~~
Seated across Liam in a fancy restaurant—with his parents and my dad, trying hard not to overponder its gaze towards me from time to time. Sometimes, I would lock gazes with him, sometimes, I would just pretend I didn't know he was looking. He had this pleading look, which I would always decipher.
Was he trying to apologize for not dropping by last night? Maybe he had realized that he had chosen his coursemate over his best friend. Hell, I was determined to make him pay for that. I concentrated on my dinner of Spaghetti and meatballs, savoring its exquisite taste.
After dinner, we were relaxing with a bottle of wine when Liam locked gazes with me—again! This time, I didn't retreat nor did he. Then he smiled. Well, I kept my face expressionless, gazing at him.
He scratched his head and bit his lips. Gosh! I wished I was the one giving a bite to those lips. I smiled inwardly at my thoughts. Just when did I grow from not wanting any romantic relationship with any guy for now, to wishing I was the one biting my best friend's lips?
"Hey, do you wanna go grab an ice cream together?" He said, rousing me out of my thoughts.
"Nope. Not interested," I replied, maintaining a straight face.
"Come on, bestie. Please," he said, with a pleading look that I couldn't resist. It wasn't as though I could resist him at all now, just that it weakened my resolve to keep a tough act.
"Okay, let's go," I announced, and he grinned. Our families let us off the hook because they knew we would always want to spend time apart with them at every dinner. They had gotten used to it.
We bought our ice cream—the same flavors, of course, and headed to the adjoining balconies where customers usually stay and have a drink or two while gazing at the night sky.
As we leaned against the railings, I struggled not to be swept away by his signature fragrance—Olive and mist. Also resisting the urge to pull him closer and whisper feelings to him. Maybe—just maybe, he might reciprocate. But, on second thought, I couldn't. I didn't want to spoil our friendship; besides, I was still playing an angry best friend, yeah.
"I'm sorry for not coming back after dropping Winnie off," he started, gazing at the night sky briefly before resting his gaze on me. His eyes were brown and intense.
"It's fine, though. But, I waited for you." I figured it wouldn't hurt to be honest, even if it was just a tiny bit. But, I didn't expect the kind of intense gaze that preceded my words. He kept staring fixedly at me.
My heart quickened its pace—I couldn't decipher that gaze. Moreso, because I couldn't bring myself to lock gazes with him. I didn't know if it was my mind playing tricks on me, but I thought I saw him run his tongue over his lips. My body was blessed with rippling sensations and shivers which ran down my spine.
"What in the world was happening?"
