Chapter 2

Luke didn't understand why my wife was camping alone with her male best friend.

"Buddy, you trusted her too much. They are a man and a woman alone. Aren't you afraid that she will cheat on you?"

Emily and I were college classmates. After graduation, she came to this city with me.

She didn't know anyone here and had no friends.

Until two years ago, her childhood friend Daniel came from her hometown, and they became closer.

We fell in love for five years and got married for three years. At least, I chose to believe her at that moment.

"Don't talk nonsense. They are just friends. I know my wife."

Luke shrugged and didn't say much.

After searching for a long time, tired and panting, we didn't even see anyone.

Luke suggested, "Shall we call the police? She has been missing for more than 24 hours."

I was worried about her safety. I agreed.

After receiving the report, the police quickly searched every corner of the mountain with rescue dogs.

I followed behind in a panic.

After crossing many hills, with the sky getting dark, suddenly someone shouted loudly, "Here! They're here!"

My eyes lit up, and I stumbled my way towards the sound.

Emily and Daniel looked confused, surrounded by the police.

Daniel was shirtless, with a tent behind him.

The atmosphere was inexplicably weird. Everyone's eyes were filled with sympathy and pity.

I had no time to care about anything else and focused all my attention on Emily.

When Emily saw me, she became furious. "Justin, are you crazy? I just came out camping with Daniel. Why did you call so many police officers?"

"I called you, but you didn't answer, Emily. I was worried about you."

She realized it and threw her phone at me.

"Look, my phone is out of battery! I've only been out for a few days, and I'll go back when I've had fun. You embarrassed me! "

I was confused by her blame. Isn't it normal to call the police for my wife, who has been out of contact?

I didn't really understand why she was so angry.

The police intervened at the right time and said, "It's fine as long as you're safe. You have to go back with us and make a statement."

Upon hearing this, Emily glared at me again and reluctantly turned around to pack up.

By now, Daniel had already put on his clothes and awkwardly touched his nose.

It was only now that I noticed there was only one tent here.

So they've been sleeping in the same tent for the past few days?

Chapter 3

I wasn't given a chance to speak.

After returning from the police station, Emily hid in the room and ignored me.

I was afraid that she would be hungry. So, I cooked pasta for her.

"Emily, I'm so sorry. I was just too worried about you. I didn't mean anything."

Emily suddenly sat up from the bed in anger.

"Bullshit! I know you don't trust me."

"What's wrong with me hanging out with Daniel? I've said it many times. He's just my best friend. If anyone knows what happened today, what should I do?"

"I was just too anxious and didn't think much about it. But did you sleep together with him those days?"

I always felt uncomfortable if I didn't clarify this matter.

Emily was stunned after listening.

Her eyes flickered for a moment, and then she puffed out her chest confidently. "We are good friends. What's wrong with sleeping together? And we are not squeezing into the same sleeping bag. We had done nothing. You apply your suspicious mind to a gentleman."

Even if their relationship was good, Daniel was still a man.

But I could only complain in my heart.

Emily was angry now, and I didn't want to make our relationship worse.

I held her and coaxed her for a long time.

In the end, I had to buy her something to coax her.

This was the rule we set when we were in love.

As long as I made her angry once, I had to buy some gifts for her. She said that this way I would remember and not dare to easily make her angry.

This trick was very effective.

In so many years together, I had only bought all the things on her wish list about ten times.

After marriage, Emily's work was not going well. So, I asked her to quit her job and stay at home.

Shouldering the responsibility of supporting the family alone, these two years I have been getting busier with my career, especially after my position was promoted at the beginning of the year. I couldn't remember how long it had been since I went shopping with her.

Maybe it was because she was too lonely that she got closer to Daniel.

Thinking of this, I left work early that day and went to the flower shop to buy her favorite roses.

Then I went to the supermarket to buy two steaks. She used to love the steak I cooked for her.

I walked home with light steps and was full of anticipation. I didn't expect to see such a scene when I opened the door.

My smile froze on my face.

Chapter 4

I saw Emily holding Daniel's waist, leaning her head gently on his shoulder, and talking to him with a tilted head. They looked like a couple in love.

I cleared my throat.

Emily froze for a moment when she saw me, but quickly regained her composure and let go of her hand.

And Daniel, calmly like a host, greeted me, "Justin, you're back."

I tried to ignore the discomfort lingering in my heart, and I nodded at him.

However, what happened afterwards made me even more unhappy.

It was like someone else had taken over my position.

The dinner that night was made by Daniel.

Daniel and Emily have never stopped their conversation since they sat at the table. They spoke in a dialect that I couldn't understand. I was completely isolated from them.

When I tasted something delicious, Emily didn't hesitate to put it in Daniel's bowl in front of me.

When Daniel thought the food was too spicy, he picked up the soup in Emily's bowl and took a big sip.

Seeing me looking at him, Daniel felt uneasy and touched his head. "Justin, don't mind. Emily and I used to do this often when we were young. Not to mention a bowl of soup, we even took baths together."

What? Why did I think he was showing off?

Seeing this, Emily gave me a disdainful look. "Don't mind him. We're all friends. Just eat and drink as you please. No need to explain it."

After that, they treated me as if I were not here, like the forgotten roses on the side. Emily never looked at me from beginning to end.

After dinner, Emily and Daniel watched TV in the living room, while I washed dishes in the kitchen.

Not long after, Emily's laughter penetrated the walls and reached my ears clearly.

I couldn't help but glance outside.

This glance made me furious.

There was no man who could stay calm when he saw his wife resting her head on another man's leg.

Daniel even fed her shrimp chips and handed her a bottle of Coke he'd taken a sip from.

Emily naturally took a sip with the straw.

After Daniel left, I couldn't bear it anymore and questioned her. "Emily, don't you think you and Daniel have overstepped your bounds?"

Emily's face turned dark, and she said, "What do you mean, Justin? He is the only friend I have here. What's wrong with getting closer to him? Can you stop thinking like a jealous husband all the time?"

"Otherwise, you don't have time to accompany me. What's wrong with me finding someone else to accompany me? I've known him longer than you. If we wanted to be together, we would have been together long ago."

"I didn't realize how petty you are. We've been together for so many years. Don't you have any trust in me?"

I just asked her a question, and she snapped at me.

Only people with guilt would talk so much to hide themselves.

She and Daniel have been crossing lines frequently. If I continued to leave them alone, I didn't even know when she would betray me.

Because of Daniel, Emily and I didn't talk again!
