Ryder's chest tightened and he knew he would do anything to protect and care for her.
"I will never let anyone hurt you again" Ryder whispered, his voice gentle.
Crystal's eyes searched Ryder's face, searching for answers. She saw sincerity and deep affection in his gaze. She felt a sense of peace wash over her but she knew she was in the arms of a stranger.
"who are you?" Crystal asked, her voice still shaking.
"I'm Ryder, your mate" he replied softly.
Crystal's eyes widened in surprise. Her eyes searched his face, trying to process the revelation. "My mate?" she repeated.
Ryder nodded "yes, I have been searching for you for a long time".
Ryder's expression softened and he gently brushed a strand of hair behind her ear.
The touch sent shivers down her spine and she felt a spark of electricity run through her body.
Crystal's eyes fluttered closed and she leaned into Ryder's touch, her lips parting slightly.
Ryder's gaze dropped to her lips and he felt a surge of desire.
The tension between them grew, until it seemed to vibrate with anticipation.
Ryder's wolf, Aiden growled softly, urging him to claim Crystal as his own.
But Ryder hesitated, unsure if Crystal was ready. He didn't want to scare her off or push her boundaries.
Instead he leaned in, his lips brushing against her forehead in a gentle kiss.
Crystal's eyes opened, and she looked up at Ryder, her gaze searching his face. For a moment, they just looked at each other.
"Can I see your wolf?" Crystal asked nervously.
Ryder smiled, and with a fluid motion, he transformed into his Lycan form.
Crystal gasped, mesmerized by the majestic creature before her.
Ryder's Lycan body was powerful and majestic, with thick, dark gray fur and piercing yellow eyes. His muscles rippled, his powerful legs propelling him forward with ease. His face was strong with high cheekbones and a sharp jawline, and his ears were pointed and alert.
As Crystal looked at Ryder, she couldn't shake off the feeling of uncertainty. She had just been rejected by someone, and now she was supposed to accept this stranger as her mate?
It felt overwhelming, and she wasn't sure if she was ready to open herself up to someone new.
Ryder's gentle touch and kind eyes helped ease her worries a bit but she still felt a mix of emotions. She was drawn to Ryder but she didn't know him.
Despite her reservations, Crystal felt a spark of excitement as she reached out to touch Ryder's fur. He nuzzled her hand, and she felt a sense of calm wash over her.
Without hesitation, Crystal mounted Ryder's back, wrapping her arms around his neck. As Ryder began to run, Crystal felt the wind rushing through her hair, and she laughed with sheer joy.
The forest blurred together and Crystal felt free - from her worries and fears.
As they ran, the forest grew denser and the trees seemed to close in around them.
Crystal felt a sense of exhilaration, the wind whipping through her hair.
She leaned forward, her cheek pressed against Ryder's fur as she felt drawn to its warmth.
After a while, Ryder slowed to a stop and Crystal looked up to see a beautiful lake glinting. The water was crystal clear, reflecting the trees and sky above.
Ryder's padded towards the lake's edge and Crystal slid off his back, walking towards the water's edge.
The lake's tranquility was soothing. Ryder followed her, his eyes watching her with a gentle intensity. Crystal reached out a hand and Ryder nuzzled it, his fur soft and warm.
As they stood there, Crystal felt a sense of peace wash over her. She looked up at Ryder and he seemed to be looking back at her. For the first time since meeting Ryder, Crystal felt like she could breathe, like she had found a sense of belonging.
Ryder shifted back into his human form, his eyes never leaving Crystal's face. "You're safe now," he said, his voice low and soothing. "You're with me, and I'll always protect you."
Crystal's eyes locked onto Ryder's, and she felt a spark of connection. She knew she still had questions and doubts.
She nodded and Ryder smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
As they stood there, the only sound was the gentle lapping of the water against the shore.
With the moon rising high in the sky, casting its silver glow over the forest.
Ryder spoke up, "We should get you home," he said, his voice gentle but firm.
Crystal nodded, feeling a pang of disappointment that their time together was coming to an end.
"Which pack are you from?" she asked, curiosity getting the better of her.
Ryder smiled, happy that she was initiating a conversation. "I'm from the Star blood pack" he replied. "But I have to ask, which pack are you from?"
Crystal's eyes widened surprisingly. "I'm from the Moonlight Pack" she said, her voice low.
Ryder's expression softened, "I should escort you home," he said, his voice low and soothing.
With the moonlight casting long shadows behind them, they walked through the forest silently, each with their own thoughts.
Crystal knew she could trust him and his presence made her feel safe.
As they approached the Moonlight Pack's territory, Crystal felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was home.
Ryder turned to her, his eyes bore hers. "I'll leave you hear", he said.
Crystal nodded, "Thank you '.
"You are welcome", he said.
With that, Ryder turned and disappeared into the darkness, leaving Crystal to make her way home.
But little did they know, dark eyes had been watching them from the shadows, their gaze fixed intently on Crystal. The moonlight seemed to cast an ominous glow and the air was thick with an unseen threat.
***Moonlight pack***
Crystal walked home, the fading sunlight casting long shadows across the path. The trees towered above, their branches creaking in the gentle breeze.
She quickened her pace, her senses on high alert.
As she approached her home, she saw the worried faces of her parents and Ethan. Sarah's eyes were red-rimmed, and Edwin's expression was tense.
"Crystal, where have you been?" Sarah asked, rushing to her side. "We've been searching everywhere for you."
Crystal took a deep breath, her eyes darting between her parents. "I'm fine, Mom. I just...I needed some time alone."
Ethan's eyes narrowed. "You were gone for hours. We were worried sick."
Crystal's gaze dropped and she fidgeted with her hands. "I'm sorry. I just needed some fresh air and time to think."
Sarah's expression softened, and she wrapped her arms around Crystal. "We're just glad you're home safe"
Crystal's eyes dropped, her gaze on the lingering concern etched on her parents faces.
As they sat down, Crystal's words tumbled out. "I met a stranger...his name is Ryder. He's...he's my mate."
The room fell silent and her parents exchanged a curious glance. Sarah's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean he's your mate?"
Edwin's expression was stunned. "But...but George was your mate," he said, his voice filled with confusion.
Crystal nodded. "I know, i'm confused as well. George was my mate but he rejected me".
Sarah's eyes searched Crystal's face, trying to understand the emotions behind her words.
"Honey, this is a lot to take in. You're still reeling from George's rejection and now you're telling us you've met someone new who claims to be your mate?"
Crystal's hands trembled slightly as she smiled , her eyes sparkling with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.
"I met him in the forest. He's kind, gentle and makes me feel safe. His pack is the Star Blood Pack."
Ethan's eyes widened in surprise. "The Star Blood Pack? That's a powerful pack."
Crystal's hands trembled as she explained her encounter with Ryder. Her parents listened intently, their expressions thoughtful.
"We'd love to meet him," Sarah said, her eyes sparkling with interest. "When do you think that could happen?"
Crystal hesitated, feeling uncertain. "I'm not sure. He only asked for my pack and name when we met."
Edwin nodded understandingly. "That's okay, sweetie. We'll just have to wait and see how things develop."
As the evening wore on, Crystal's thoughts drifted back to Ryder. She wondered when she'd see him again, and what the future held for them.

***Star blood pack***
Ryder sat at his desk, the soft glow of the lamp casting a warm light on the maps and documents scattered before him.
His eyes narrowed as he studied the layout of the vampire territories, his mind focused on the growing threat to their boundaries.
The scent of old leather and wood filled the air, a comforting familiarity in the midst of chaos.
Despite the tension, a sense of calm had settled over him in the past few days. He couldn't explain it but something had shifted, like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
His thoughts drifted to the forest, to the moment he had met his mate. The memory of he smile, her scent, her eyes, lingered in his mind like a gentle hum.
His fingers drummed a slow rhythm on the desk, betraying the turmoil brewing beneath his calm exterior.
He had been fighting the urge to leave everything behind, to track her down and claim her as his own. But duty bound him to his pack, to the war against the vampires.
Ryder's gaze lingered on the sketch of the forest, his mind wandering to the possibility of showing her the hidden waterfalls.
He imagined her laughter, her eyes sparkling with joy.
The sound of footsteps outside his study door broke the spell. Ryder's focus snapped back to the task at hand. He leaned back in his chair, his expression neutral as Luca entered the room.
"Alpha Ryder, we've received reports of vampire activity near the eastern border" Luca said, his voice low and urgent.
Ryder's eyes locked onto the map, his mind racing with strategy and tactics.
Ryder's eyes narrowed as he studied the map, his jaw clenched.
He stood up, his movements fluid and deliberate.
"Let's get to work" he said, his voice firm and commanding.
As they looked over the maps and made plans, Ryder's thoughts lingered on his mate, a constant presence in the back of his mind.
His thoughts were consumed by the mate he had yet to claim. But for now, duty came first. The vampires wouldn't wait.
After instructing the pack warriors, Ryder set off towards the boundary.
With his senses on high alert, Ryder charged into battle, his claws outstretched and fought fiercely, taking down several of the attackers.
Despite being outnumbered, Ryder fought on, driven by a primal urge to protect his pack and his territory.
He caught sight of a cloaked man standing far away, a flicker of curiosity sparked within him. Who was this mysterious figure, and what did he want?
He had to focus on the battle. He gritted his teeth and plunged back into the fray, determined to emerge victorious.
---
The dim light of the alleyway casts eerie shadows on the figure's face as he leans back on his chair.
"What do you mean he found her?" he asked, his voice low and measured.
The other person, a tall and imposing figure with piercing eyes locked onto him, a hint of wariness in his gaze. "Ryder had found his mate. And we have a reason to believe she's the one we've been searching for"
The figure's expression remained calm but a flicker of interests danced in his eyes, "This changes things, we will need to take action. And fast", he said.
The air seemed to thicken with tension as the two figures sat in silence...
The forest air was thick with the scent of damp earth and wildflowers as Crystal gazed out the window, her mind wandering back to her childhood. She had grown up in a world where she didn't quite fit in.
Her childhood was a blur of memories, some happy, some painful. She remembered running through the forest with her parents, feeling carefree and wild.
She also remembered the times she intended to shift. Unable to do so, she felt like a failure in the eyes of the pack.
As she grew older, Crystal realized she was different from the other werewolves.
In the pack, strength and speed were highly valued and those who lack these qualities like Crystal, often struggled to find their place.
The other pack members would often whisper, calling her names like "weakling" and "human".
Crystal always felt like she didn't belong, like she was living in a world she was not supposed to.
Crystal's parents were always supportive. They loved her and did their best to help her fit in.
But even they couldn't shield her from the harsh realities of the pack life.
One particular incident stood out in Crystal's mind. She must have been around 12 years and she was trying to participate in a pack training exercise.
The other kids were effortlessly shifting and running through the forest but Crystal couldn't keep up.
She stumbled and fell, feeling frustrated and embarrassed.
Alpha Williams, George's father had approached her. "You are not like the others, Crystal" he said, his voice firm but not unkind. "Maybe you should focus on other things, things that don't require strength or speed".
Crystal had felt a sting from his words but she took them to heart. She focused on her studies, learning about herbs and medicine.
She became skilled at healing wounds and brewing potions.
Deep down, Crystal still longed to be like the others. She wanted to run through the forest, feel the wind in her fur.
As she grew older, Crystal realized that might never happen. She would always be different, always be seen as weak or inferior.
Crystal's thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. "Hey sis, can I come in?" Ethan asked, his voice muffled through the wood.
Crystal wiped away the tears that had pricked at the corners of her eyes, trying to compose herself. "Yeah, come on in," she said, forcing a smile.
Ethan entered the room, his expression curious. "What's going on? You've been up here for a while. Mom and Dad are getting worried."
Crystal shrugged, not wanting to discuss her feelings about Ryder or her past just yet. "I'm fine. Just lost in thought."
Ethan nodded sympathetically. "Okay, well, I came to ask you to come downstairs. We have some news to share."
Crystal's curiosity was piqued. "What is it?"
Ethan's expression turned serious. "It's about George and Amy. They're getting married."
The words hit Crystal like a punch to the gut. Her eyes widened and her jaw clenched as her heart sank "When?" she asked, trying to keep her voice neutral.
"Next full moon," Ethan replied, watching her reaction closely. "I know it's a lot to take in, but I thought you should know."
Crystal nodded, taking a deep breath. She would have to face George and Amy eventually, and she might as well start preparing herself now. "Thanks for telling me, Ethan. I'll be down soon."
As Ethan left the room, Crystal felt a sense of unease wash over her. She wasn't sure how she would react to seeing George and Amy together, but she knew she had to be strong for her family's sake. And for her own.
___
The sound of birds chirping and leaves rustling filled the silence as Amy stood outside Crystal's house, her mother-Carly, by her side and a forced smile on her face.
She was determined to show off her upcoming wedding and her happiness, hoping to rub it in Crystal's face while being ushered into the home.
As Crystal came downstairs, Amy extended the invitation with a flourish. "Hey, Crystal! We wanted to invite you to our wedding! Isn't it just the most exciting thing?"
Crystal's expression remained neutral as she took the invitation from Amy. "Thanks for inviting me," she said calmly, her voice devoid of emotion.
Amy's eyes narrowed slightly, her smile still plastered on her face. "We're really excited about the wedding," she said, trying to gauge Crystal's reaction. "George is going to make a fantastic alpha."
Crystal glanced at the invitation, her expression still neutral. "Congratulations" she said, her voice polite but detached. "I'm sure it'll be a lovely ceremony."
Amy's smile faltered, her lips twitching slightly as she struggled to maintain it. She had expected anger, tears or some sign of weakness but Crystal's calm demeanor was unsettling.
"We'd love for you to be there" Carly chimed in, trying to help fill the awkward silence. "It would mean a lot to us."
Crystal nodded graciously. "Thank you for inviting me. I'll consider it."
As the visit drew to a close, Amy felt a sense of frustration. She had wanted Crystal to be upset, to show some sign of vulnerability but Crystal had remained composed throughout. As they left the house, Amy turned to her mother with a mix of emotions.
"That didn't go as planned" she said, her voice low.
Her mother patted her hand reassuringly. "Don't worry, dear. Crystal's just trying to save face".
But Amy wasn't so sure. There was something about Crystal's calm exterior that made her wonder if she'd underestimated her.
Edwin and Sarah, who had been watching from the living room, exchanged a knowing glance. They had witnessed the entire exchange.
After Amy and mother departed, Sarah, turned to Crystal and asked "Are you okay, sweetie? That couldn't have been easy for you."
Crystal shrugged "I'm fine, Mom. It's just a wedding invitation. I just don't want to give Amy the satisfaction of getting a rise out of me."
