Leo Guided her into a large office after eating, gesturing for her to sit in the seat on the opposite side of the table. He started rifling through some sheets, trying to find something. Anastasia sank into the chair, the size of it engulfing her.
Her feet didn't even touch the ground. They clearly made it for the alpha. "What will I do in the pack exactly?" she asked tentatively. She hadn't been told off for speaking first before, so she felt brave.
The alpha had come back now with a book, sitting down on the chair next to her and gesturing for the omega to sit on him instead. The omega weaved around the large desk and sat in Leo’s lap again, shuffling around to get comfortable. From the looks of it, omegas got held and carried around everywhere in this pack. She liked it. Such care was never given to omegas back in her pack. "Will I just stay at home and care for our future pups?" "No," Leo Said, placing soft kisses on her neck after he finished rifling through the sheets.
They really loved her neck, huh? "You are our mate, so you have to do more. You need to spend time with the pack members and make sure everyone is okay.
We worry more about safety and repairs, protecting the pack from intruders and any other disasters that may occur. Your job is to take care of the nurseries and children, keep an eye on the infirmary and stores, and make sure no one is homeless and everyone is getting fed. You will also have control over the bank, but that won't be until sometime later."
"Okay," Anastasia perked up. She never really liked staying at home. She loved exploring and meeting new people, even though her identity made that difficult.
The alphas had promised that she had no reason to hide her hair anymore, it was something to flaunt about. How pretty their omega is. That made her more confident. “I like that, do other omegas do what I do as well?” Leo smiled at her, sensing her happiness.
"I'm glad you like that. I refuse to allow you to be unhappy about anything. Our pack is more equal when it comes to responsibilities. We have quite a few omegas who go hunting or do border patrol. Everyone has a job."
"No, I'm happy. This is way better than my old pack. I can't wait to help out, especially in the infirmary and the nurseries. I always wanted to be a part of that but I never really spoke to anyone in my old pack."
“Why's that?” “Because of my hair, I was also one of the few omegas allowed out and about. My father didn't like me because I wasn't an alpha like my brother so I stayed far away from anyone.
I was raised by my older brother my whole life until I had to leave.” “May I ask why you came here my sun? You mentioned that you were traveling.”
“I was never planning on leaving but my brother had to leave to find his mate, he said he would come back in time for me to present but right after I presented I was told that I would be mated to this man, Raphael when my first heat comes. He was already mated and just wanted omegas for fun after his old omega died. I escaped the night I found out because he was very cruel and I didn't want to be with him.
My omega also told me to, if she hadn’t I would never have run away. It was also her who told me to join the competition.” Leo’s scent spiked up and his grip became tighter, showing protectiveness.
“Well, I’m glad you left. You are in an infinitely better place.”
“I think you are correct about that,”
Anastasia smiled at the alpha. It had been less than three full days in this pack and she already was loving it more. Even the short time she spent in the town was pleasant. “What pack were you originally from, my sun?” Leo asked casually as he looked through a letter.
“The valerian pack.” Leo Looked up at her and pondered it. “That's so far away, my love, we went there some time ago, to scout for omegas whilst we went to make a treaty with them.”
As Leo talked about the competition, she was reminded of 3 years ago when they had come to her pack. It was a faint memory, but as Leo talked about it, her memories were refreshed. They had come for the renewal of treaties but were granted with a present from the pack leader as gratitude for the more powerful leaders. It was something smaller packs did to suck up to larger packs such as the Sinclair pack, especially as it was one that no one wanted to mess with them.
They had the best warriors and the majority of the pack was trained in combat, the war wasn't ideal. She remembers being in her room, avoiding all the chatter as all the unmated omegas in his pack were escorted to the twin’s room, one by one. Each of them returned after not even 5 minutes, drawing up the confusion.
The twins left the pack in a state of confusion, especially when the omegas started gossiping about how they were all told to undress in front of the two alphas and told to shift. It seemed to be a beauty contest, which had the prettiest wolf and body.
Everyone has speculated that they were trying to find an appealing omega to lay with, so the many omegas who came back with none staying in had hurt the pack’s pride a lot.
She finally understood the severity of that day. For them to have been so close to their mate, yet unaware that they had yet to present must be so annoying now. She remembers serving them wine on their third night.
All she did was duck into the room, pour a few glasses, and leave. Anastasia remembered catching sight of them and being unable to tear her eyes away, just like the previous day. If only they had stared back, or she had been in the room longer.
The alpha took her around the compound, showing her the different buildings after lunch. It was big, humongous.
Coming from a family that was next in power to the leader, she should be used to such scales. However, her old pack struggled to maintain 2000 members, whilst this one easily was 10 times that size, maybe even bigger. The size of the land clearly would be reflective of its numbers.
Admiring all the buildings and facilities separate from the main pack, she was reminded once again that she had lived in squalor even with wealth. There was a training area for the military personnel for the pack, which was what Logan was in charge of. There were a couple of hundred wolves practicing, Anastasia doubted that this was their whole army though, maybe just a few fighters.
Even with this small number, they could overtake the Valerian pack and a few of the surrounding packs very easily. As Leo walked past, arm firmly wrapped around her, a couple of the wolves looked up and stared at her from the balcony they were on. They were shocked at the sight of her, her hair was out and fluttering around her face.
Anastasia didn't doubt for a second that the news of her appearance could spread around town now. Leo Seemed to be relaxed about showing her off, so she let it go. The alpha wouldn't put her in danger. She automatically decided after that day that he really liked her mate, he was so nice and charming.
Every alpha she had ever met, save for her brother and Evan, had been gruff and dominant. She hated having to submit and losing her sense of control, even if she liked being guided around. She liked having the choice to follow someone, rather than being forced to do anything because an alpha’s aura was too intrusive. Leo Was lovely, strong, but lovely.
He smelt amazing and being in his hold made her feel so safe and protected. It was as if her omega was being lulled into a deep sleep, allowing her to not rely on her senses to keep her out of danger because there was no danger when her alpha was around. She willingly did everything the alpha asked her to do, a command never falling from his lips.
Anastasia would usually be more suspicious if Alpha was so accommodating, but the only thing he seemed to be suppressing was his urge to touch the omega. Anastasia understood the feeling though, all she wanted to do was hold the alpha, the need for physical intimacy never being as strong as it had been the past day, and Anastasia had always been affectionate.
Anastasia spent the rest of the day reading some books about the pack and how it runs.
Whilst she was shuffling through the documents, tidying it up after reading everything, Logan walked in. “Time for dinner,” he grunted and lifted her off the floor, not giving the omega enough time to not only see him come over with his intentions clear but also to be picked up.
She didn't like this alpha all that much. He looked mean and barely spoke. But he was her other mate, so she hoped she could get used to this alpha soon.
She wanted to be fond of this alpha, just like she was of Leo. Both of their touches were not forceful and made her turn into putty immediately. Logan’s hold felt firmer and stronger, but less like he was trying to stop her from running away, and more like he wanted to keep her safe.
The alpha’s attitude still seemed gruff, just like all the ones that had wronged her in the past. But she hoped it wasn't true. He shared the same DNA as the sweetest alpha she’d met, so that accounted for something.
“Do omegas get carried around all the time in this pack?” Anastasia asked absentmindedly as they walked through the large halls. “No, just you,” the alpha replied curtly.
His answers were always so short, leaving no room for conversations. The omega had always been very chatty, so such an attitude made her lip curl slightly in distaste “So it's a Luna thing?” She questioned again. She hadn't seen any omegas get carried around in the market at all.
“No, I like carrying you,” Logan’s reply was short and stubby again, getting straight to the point. Anastasia rolled her eyes internally, why couldn't he speak more? She had noticed that Logan was the one mostly carrying her and she sat on Leo’s lap more often.
It was like they had a little agreement between them. “What if I don't like being carried,” she felt like being a bit childish, the alpha’s lack of emotions made her eager to push his buttons.
Logan stopped walking and looked at her for a second. To her surprise, she was slowly placed on the ground, a hand on her back to make sure she was properly upright.
“Then tell us,” Logan said plainly, waiting for her to start walking. “I didn't say I didn't like it,” Anastasia grumbled as she stomped down the hall to where the dining room was her lips turned down into a pout, lips plumped up.
After a few strides, Logan came in front of her and with one arm lifted her and slung her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, her body upside down.
Anastasia squealed at the new position, never having been carried like this before. Her hair was everywhere, making her look stupid.
“You walk slow, is another reason why. You have tiny legs,” Logan resumed his usual fast pace as he walked with the omega squirming behind him. “I don't like being carried like this,”
Anastasia whined, feeling insulted by the comment but it was true, she was significantly shorter than him, the alpha did not respond.
So much so for telling him, she crossed her arms and carried on pouting, realizing that they were walking quite far away at this point, now outside. She didn't get the time to question Logan because she was being put down carefully and placed on a bench in the middle of the courtyard.
“It was a nice day so dinner will be outside,” Leo said cheerily in front of her, Logan’s somber face next to him being a comical contrast. “We can watch the sunset.” Anastasia nodded enthusiastically, happy that the other alpha was, here again, Logan was a little annoying. Watching the sunset was nice, the slow departure of the sun is a nice backdrop to their dinner.
The weather was slightly windy but ultimately perfect. Her previous annoyance completely dissipated as she happily munched on the food. This pack seemed to have different wild animals to hers, and a completely different palette as well.
The meals were more meat and vegetable-oriented, with few grains like she was used to eating. Anastasia preferred this though, bread and broth got boring after a while.
Even the fruits were nicer, she didn't realize they had such nice harvests. Her old pack had drier lands, the sun a constant enigma.
However, the land surrounding the pack and its borders was all green and lively, with dense forests everywhere.
There was more character in the area than in this old territory.
Anastasia averted her gaze away from the sunset whilst the two alphas were in a hushed conversation about pack matters.
She couldn't help but stare at their faces. The soft orange light illuminated their features, softening their expressions but not hiding the sharpness of their face.
They were handsome, otherworldly, every compliment you could give to an alpha. They both had their hair completely out of their face, Leo’s hair was brushed back and Logan had tied his back. It only made their beauty even more apparent.
Anastasia would never get over how different their auras were even though their faces were so identical, the differences in their personalities clear from the first glance. Even with her shallow annoyances with one of them, she couldn't deny that she indeed felt lucky with this fate, even if it didn't end up completely perfect in the end. What she had right now was better than she ever thought she’d get, and that was what was motivating her to stay.
Even if that was not the case, she didn't think she could ever leave the two alphas. It had barely been 36 hours in their presence and she couldn't imagine not being here in this peaceful environment.
****************
She had just freshened up and was ready to climb into bed when she saw Logan lounging on one side of the bed, waiting for her.
Leo had entered the bathroom right after her. She huffed and turned her nose up, making a point to walk to the other side and turn her back to the alpha, positioning herself at the very edge of the bed.
The omega wasn't that annoyed at the alpha, she just hated how she struggled to understand him as quickly as she did with his brother. Still, his stoic expression made her want to push and pull to see his limits.
The consequences may be dire but Anastasia had never been good with foresight. The alpha let out an amused chuckle, “you're mad because I teased you,” he stated. Anastasia was quite surprised at how quickly the alpha figured her out, he was strangely perceptive. It made her even more displeased. “Nope, it's because I don't like you.
At all,” she sounded so childish but she didn't care, hopefully, the alpha got the memo. He didn't. “Well I love you so it cancels out,” she heard the voice say behind him.
She froze. What? The only person who uttered those words had been her brother, and it was something she couldn't say.
They were related for god's sake. Love had always seemed unattainable to her, yet this gruff alpha said it so plainly like he was stating the weather condition.
She didn't know whether to be offended By the word to be used so lightly after mere hours of contact or glad that someone said that to her. A huge part of her hated Logan for saying it, it wasn't something she took lightly, but the alpha didn't seem like the type to joke around at all.
That was Leo. It made her even more troubled. She was too caught up in what was just said to realize that the bed was dipping near him.
Two hands grabbed her and pulled her back onto a firm chest. “Hey,” she called out, finally snapping back from her trance.
How could he say something like that so casually? He knew they had waited a long time for him but they barely knew him.
Love was not even in the equation yet “Sleep,” Logan whispered, nosing her scent gland. The action made Her turn into putty, relaxing completely into his hold, even moving closer.
She did not like this alpha at all, him and his dirty tactics. A hand stroked his back softly, feeling so gentle and lovely.
“You're mean, you can't do this. It's foul play,” she whined as she nuzzled the alpha back, her eyes closed in bliss. Her omega was a traitor, submitting to the enemy so easily. “Sleep, love,” was the last thing she heard. She fell asleep before Leo returned.
