Chapter 3

I handled the funeral for my family by myself.

I chose a larger cemetery to bury them together, hoping they could stay together in heaven.

I sat there for a long time, and when I left the cemetery, I met Alex and Nancy.

Alex supported Nancy carefully.

Anyone who saw them would think they were a loving couple.

I didn't want to waste my time on them.

So I turned and walked away, trying to avoid them.

"Yolanda? Why are you here?"

Alex called me and looked displeased.

After all, meeting in a cemetery was not a coincidence.

He must think I was following him again.

Sure enough, he said, "What's wrong with you? My assistant couldn't get in touch with you. Why did you follow me here?"

Nancy said, "Yolanda, did you misunderstand us? Lucky died of a serious illness, and I was pregnant, so Alex went abroad to bring me back. We want to bury Lucky here. There is no relationship with us."

She tried to make things worse while provoking me.

I was not in the mood to argue with them.

When passing by them, I stopped. "Since we met here, let me tell you this. Alex, our engagement is canceled."

Alex was surprised.

He didn't expect that I, who would usually please him, would be so indifferent to him now.

He grabbed my arm and said, "Yolanda, stop messing around.

"Are you blaming me for not delivering the medicine to you on time? But I've already apologized. I asked my assistant to deliver the medicine to you, but he couldn't contact you."

I smiled bitterly.

He said those words so lightly.

Because he missed the time, all my family died.

How could he say those words?

"Anyway, remember my words."

I didn't want to argue with him, so I shook off his hand and left.

He was about to catch up with me, but Nancy stopped me before he could.

She took my hand affectionately.

"Yolanda, please don't be angry. Come and see the cemetery I chose for Lucky."

Nancy smiled and pointed to the southeast. "Lucky loves flowers, so I want to build a small garden here, and I'll build a small park on the other side..."

I followed the direction of her finger.

It was the cemetery I just left.

Chapter 4

My family members were buried there.

I was dumbfounded. As I turned around, I saw Nancy's malicious smile.

My mind went blank and I raised my hand to slap her.

Nancy almost fell to the ground, but was held by Alex in time.

"Yolanda, are you crazy? Nancy is pregnant."

Alex pushed me to the ground with great force.

He asked me to apologize, but I couldn't hear his word.

I only cared about the cemetery under construction.

I ran to the construction site quickly.

The tombstones that were originally neatly arranged were all smashed to pieces.

The urns were also dug into pieces.

I stopped the workers, trying desperately to pick up the ashes from the soil with my hands.

But it was all in vain.

Alex came over and grabbed me. "Yolanda, what's wrong with you?"

I screamed, "Why? Why are you doing this?"

Nancy pretended to be surprised. "Yolanda, what are you doing? It's not your parents who are buried there. Why are you crying?"

I looked at her with red eyes, completely out of my mind. "You did all this, right?"

Nancy blinked her innocent eyes and hid behind Alex. "I don't understand what you are talking about. Alex, Yolanda is so scary."

Alex was furious. "Yolanda, stop messing around! Apologizing to Nancy!"

Apologize?

I didn't believe Nancy was innocent.

She poked her head out from behind Alex with a provocative expression.

She did it on purpose.

I couldn't figure out how I offended her.

I didn't want to know that.

With red eyes, I was only thinking about revenge.

I picked up a stone nearby and threw it at her.

Alex blocked it with his arm, but the stone still hit Nancy's forehead.

"Nancy!" Alex screamed.

Nancy fainted in his arms.

Alex picked her up and glanced back at me as he hurried away.

"Catch her! Yolanda, if anything happens to Nancy, I will make you pay the price!"

There was only a red mark left on Nancy's forehead, not even a scratch.

However, Alex locked me up in the basement.

The door was guarded by bodyguards.

No matter how I begged him, Alex refused to see me.

When water seeped into the basement, I realized it was raining outside.

But my family's ashes were still in the cemetery.

I thought, "Alex, why do you treat me like this?

I am your fiancée..."

It was dark here, and sometimes, the food delivery guy wouldn't come.

I didn't know how long I was locked up here.

No one paid attention to me.

Just when I gave up hope, Alex came here.

When the door opened, I saw him.

I thought I saw the light.

I begged him to let me out, but he laughed cruelly.

"You want to go out?"

Chapter 5

"Impossible! Do you know that you almost caused Nancy to have a miscarriage?

"If I let you go so easily, her suffering will be in vain."

I was stunned.

How was that possible? It was just a minor wound.

Nancy dug up my family's graves...

This little injury was nothing for her!

I loudly questioned, "Why did she dig the graves of my relatives?"

Alex frowned upon hearing this, and then he said contemptuously, "The grave of your relatives?"

He squatted down and lifted my chin.

His tone was cold. "Stop lying. I believed that your family members were sick and asked someone to send you medicine.

"But I didn't find any medical records of your family members."

My eyes widened. How could that be?

My whole family lived in the hospital under Alex's name.

He could definitely find it if he checked.

"That's impossible. There must be something wrong."

I thought of Nancy's evil smile and said, "It must be Nancy!"

Alex couldn't stand it anymore and slapped me.

I was slapped to the ground.

He stood up and looked down at me with indifference in his eyes.

"Yolanda, you are so vicious. Nancy pleaded for you as soon as she woke up, but you slandered her."

I looked at him in disbelief.

"I'm not lying. You can find it out if you check!"

Alex sneered.

He showed the photo on the phone to me.

It was a photo of my family on vacation.

In the photo, everyone looked energetic and healthy, not the lifeless look on the hospital bed.

I burst into tears.

When I was about to speak, Alex interrupted me, "Are you going to say this photo wasn't taken recently?"

I was about to nod. This photo was taken two years ago when my family went on vacation.

Alex sneered, "I asked someone to get the photo just now. Even now, you still want to lie to me."

I felt cold all over.

How was it possible...

Alex stood up and wiped his hand, which had touched me, with his handkerchief.

Throwing the handkerchief in my face, he said, "Reflect on yourself. When you are willing to admit your mistakes and apologize to Nancy, you can come out."

Ignoring my cries, he left.

I looked at the locked door blankly.

Why would it be like this?

Even though Alex didn't like me before, he was kind to me because my grandfather saved his grandfather's life.

When his grandfather arranged our engagement, he didn't object.

So I thought he cared about me a little in his heart.

However, I didn't expect that when Nancy was around, his little bit of concern for me would turn into bubbles.

I lay on the ground and closed my eyes in despair.

Unexpectedly, when I opened my eyes again, I saw Nancy.
