Chapter 3

Sandra Pov

The summer break ended yesterday and that's why I found myself preparing for school again. I tied my brown hair into a messy bun as I carried my bag. My cousin is waiting for me in her car as we attend the same school.

After I came to live with them, she has become my backbone and only support. She sneaks me out to parties and covers up for me a lot not to put me in trouble.

"Are you ready to rock school?' she asked excitedly.

"You know how much I hate going to school" I scoffed.

"It will be different this season. I can feel it already. Moreso, I heard from the frat party that I went to that there is a new hot teacher joining us."

"Okay, I can't wait to see who they are talking about" I replied as we drove to school.

The school compound was crowded as usual as students stormed in and out of the building. People were chattering and greeting each other as some had seen each other for a very long time. They got out of the car. "See you later", my cousin said, waving at me as soon as she sighted her friend.

I shook my head. I don't have any friends here, not because I don't want to, but people here see me as a nerd and no one wants to get along with a nerd and I can't blame them. After what happened to them, I put my social life to a halt and began to wear baggy clothes to school.

I bumped into a lady. "Hey I am sorry". I bent to help her with her books that were scattered on the floor.

"It's fine, I wasn't paying attention" she replied.

I haven't seen her before, meaning she must be a new student; I pass her book to her while I dust my own hand. "Sorry once again."

"My name is Avery; I am new here" she introduced herself.

"I am Sandra, nice meeting you." I introduced myself too.

"Do you mind showing me around the school as I don't know my way around here?" she pleads with her eyes.

"I don't mind at all", I smiled at her.

"Thank you so much, I have a feeling we will be best of friends", Avery said happily.

"Why would you want to be friends with a nerd?" I asked.

"Nonsense, your personality is not a barrier to us being friends" she answered as we both walked into the school building.

"Let me see your schedule" I asked, and she dipped her hand into her pocket, passing me the shit of paper.

"Good, we are having our first period together", I told her, passing it back to her.

"Good, nature to agree to our friendship" she rejoiced.

"You are weird", I informed her as I laughed.

We took out our books as we got ready for the lecturer to go inside. Just then, my boyfriend Ethan entered with his goons behind him.

He came to my side as he saw me. "Hey babe" he pecked my forehead as that was the only place I gave him access to.

"Hello to you too, I saved you a seat", I pointed at the empty seat beside me.

"Don't worry, I will be sitting with my friends today" he answered, referring to the guys that were with him.

I nodded "okay"

"Won't you introduce me to this beautiful lady beside you?"

"Ethan, meet Avery, Avery, meet my boyfriend Ethan". I introduced both of them to each other.

Ethan stretched forth his hand to take her hand as he kissed the back of her hand. "Nice meeting you"

I rolled my eyes. I know the kind of guy Ethan is, I know he flirts with anything in skirt, he doesn't care if I was there or not.

"Nice meeting you too", Avery replied.

Ethan went away with his friends, and I am glad he isn't going to be sitting down beside me because all he does is distract me by poking me every second with his pen.

"Good morning class", a voice yet a familiar one.

I will recognize the voices everywhere because they come to haunt me in my dreams. I raised my head up and standing in front of me was no other person than Tyler himself. I shook my head in disbelief, he couldn't possibly be the new teacher they were talking about. I watched him sniff the air and then his eyes started roaming about as if he was looking for something, but then his eyes found mine.

He seemed shocked to see me as his mouth opened and then closed again. We kept staring at each other until Avery nudged me by my shoulder. "What?" I asked.

"You are staring too much", she cautioned, and I looked around to see that the rest of the class was also looking at us. "Do you know him before?" she added.

"No" I lied

"Something tells me you are lying about the way both of you were looking at each other", she points out.

"Fine, he is my sister's boyfriend", I spat with disgust.

"And you are not in support of their relationship," she said.

"Not really, it's complicated", I answered truthfully.

"I know you just met me, but you can talk to me and I can assure you that your secret is safe with me" she insisted.

"It's nothing really", I responded.

She looked at me suspiciously but didn't say anything again. Tyler introduced himself to the rest of the class, but I didn't care why he had come here, he had come to flaunt his relationship with my sister. My sister also came here with him.

I was feeling uneasy as I remembered everything over again. "Are you sure you are okay?" Avery said, looking at me.

"I will be fine" I wasn't okay, and I could pretend to be

Students were asking Tyler questions about his life. The ladies were asking personal questions and I can't blame them. He is handsome and hot in the Armani suit he was wearing. If I wasn't angry, I would be drooling over him too.

As soon as the bell rang indicating his class was over, I was happy because the torture of being in the same room as him was unbearable. I quickly closed my book, wanting to get out quickly as I wanted to avoid him at all costs.

"You seem to be in a hurry. Will you be able to show me around?" she asked.

"Of course, I just want to leave this class"

"Because of him" she looks toward his attention.

"Did something happen between both of you?"

"I wish" I murmured, but when I realized what I had just said, "I mean no, nothing happened."

"The look on your face already says it all, the chemistry between both of you is real," she said.

Was that obvious? Did the rest of the class also notice it? I know if they did, I won't hear the last of it.

I was stopped by Ethan, who came to my side again as he asked me if I was okay, and I looked nervous. "You are sweaty."

"It must be the clothes I am wearing" I lied.

"Are you sure? I noticed you changed immediately the lecturer entered", he said.

That was unlike him. He normally does not care about what happens to me, and I am used to that already. "I am fine, we will meet for lunch" I hugged him goodbye as I didn't want him questioning me any further.

I hurriedly left the class with Avery beside me. My next period was free, so I decided to use that opportunity to show her around school. As we walk around, I got to know more about her and, no doubt, we will be best of friends, as she said. She is funny but also knows what she is doing. We exchanged numbers promising to see each other after school before going home.

The rest of the hours were bearable as I didn't see him anywhere, which I am grateful for. I will be changing out of his class very soon because it won't be easy for me to change schools again in my last year. It was finally lunch hour. I went over to my boyfriend's table. I don't like coming here because that is where the school queen bee always loves to eat. She loves to bully me a lot when we are eating and Ethan will just sit and do nothing about it because he doesn't want to lose his reputation.

I looked, and I saw that Madison was here already with the smirk on her face. She was ready for me again. I don't know what I have ever done to her. "Here comes the lover girl" she said, referring to me.

I ignored her like I usually do and sat down with my food as I greeted the rest of them. They mumbled something back, but I didn't hear but choose to ignore it. Suddenly, my attention was drawn when she mentioned Tyler's name. She must have had his class too. She was telling them about her plan to seduce him and make him her sugar daddy.

I don't know when I hissed, but suddenly my food was drenched in juice. "Madison", I screamed at her.

"What" she yelled back.

"Why did you do this?" I asked as I looked at Ethan to say something on my behalf, but he didn't. Instead, he laughed too as they made fun of me.

"You are sitting at our table, can't you find yours or must you be a clingy girlfriend?" she said.

"Is that the reason you drenched my food?" she was beginning to get on my last nerves.

"You hissed at my words. Do you think you are pretty and that he will pick you over me like Ethan did?" she asked.

I was pissed as I stood up and drenched her clothes in my own juice. The fact she mentions Tyler not picking me makes me see red. She dragged me by my hair and I pulled her by hers too and started fighting with my so-called boyfriend for not interfering.

Avery came to where we were fighting and tried to talk me out of it. "Common Sandra, she isn't worth your time", she said.

"I need to teach her a lesson that it's not everyone she can bully", I punched her face.

"Look at her, she has got it already", she told me.

"What's going on here?" A voice stopped us.

"Nothing" I quickly replied. I don't want him to think I was jealous.

"I don't know what came over her", Madison replied, seductively adjusting her juice-stained clothes.

"Go clean yourself up and you better don't let me see both of you fighting again", Tyler said.

When he was talking to Madison, I had to check him out, and I saw that he hadn't changed at all. The feeling that I have for him came rushing back in. I will never be able to control them now that he is my lecturer again. "Are you okay?"

"Yes" coming back to my sense

"Are you hurt anywhere?" he asked again.

Now he cares if I am hurt. He should have thought about it when he chose my sister over me. "Thank you so much for your help". I thank him for choosing not to reply to his question. It wasn't Madison that hurt but him.

"Babe, are you okay?" Ethan came to my side as he wrapped one of his hands around my waist.

I faked a smile because I was mad at him, but I didn't want to show any weakness in front of Tyler. "This is my boyfriend, Ethan", I introduced him so that he could know that I had moved on.

He seemed taken aback by my outburst as his eyes changed from dark blue back to their original blue color. Hannah's eyes normally look like that whenever I am with her, especially when she is happy or angry. I kissed Ethan on his lips to prove a point before walking away fulfilled, the look on his face was enough for me.

When I saw that Ethan and I were alone, I finally took it upon myself to confront him. "Why can't you defend me for once", I asked him angrily.

"What are you talking about babe?" he asked, and I knew he was pretending.

"You know what I am talking about" I replied.

"See babe, you should understand"

"Understand what, that you love seeing Madison bully your girlfriend?"

"Stop taking her seriously, she is just playing with you," he said.

"Even our fight just now is a joke to you" I asked in disbelief.

"I am sorry babe, but you know why I am not interfering. People will see me as weak and that is not good", he replied.

"You always find some silly excuse all because you fail in the aspect of protecting your girlfriend"

"I will make it up to you on my birthday. You are coming right," he asked.

I shook my head. "I don't think I can come". I replied,

"Common, you need to come, it's my birthday, your boyfriend", he persuaded.

"You know I don't like attending parties", I tried to explain. I hate parties since my own birthday party where my sister betrayed me.

"You can make an exemption on my own day; I promise you that you will enjoy yourself". He shook me

"Okay, I will try, but I am not going to stay long". I pouted my lips to show him how serious I was.

"Thank you, babe," he hugged me as he jumped at me, excited, causing me to smile too.

"See you later, off to my next class", I reminded him, causing him to leave me as I broke free from his hug.

The next classes went on as usual, but I couldn't concentrate my mind and thought it was all about Tyler. Why do I miss him this much? I don't know if I was ready to talk to him. What about if he doesn't feel as I do as he sees me as a child? The thought alone pierced my heart.

Getting home that day, I checked my sister's account for the first time after a long period of time to see her location. To my utmost surprise, her location remains the same, she is still back home, as she forgot to change it, or she didn't follow him here. I wanted to text her as I missed her, but I slammed the laptop shut, not interested in chatting with her. I will never forgive her.

Ethan's birthday is finally here. I was successful in avoiding Tyler in school. I was in my room with Avery. She has been a wonderful friend since she got here and she was right. We are practically best friends now as we do things together,

"Don't tell me that's the clothes you are wearing", she gasped.

"What's wrong with these clothes?" I asked, checking the clothes out myself.

"Everything is wrong, you can't wear this for your guy's birthday, you have to look good for him", she taunts me.

"He loves me regardless of what I wear" I replied.

"I don't care, you aren't wearing those clothes. "I brought this for you" she ransacked her bag and took out a small shining gown and stretched it out for me to take.

"These clothes aren't my size". I showed my disapproved face.

"You better don't argue with me babe, because you will not win" she glared at me hard, letting me know how serious she was as I started checking the clothes out.

"Now, get dressed so that we can do each other's makeup"

"Yes mom", if I haven't gotten used to her, I will call her bossy. I felt guilty though, because I still wasn't open to her about Tyler, and she understood, as she didn't force me to. She said she knew that I would tell her in my own comfortable time.

We got to the party on time. It looked like everyone from the school was there as everywhere was crowded with people. Avery and I struggled through the crowds in search of where the drink was. Fortunately, we found it on time. The person in charge of the drinks gave us a cup each. "I will go look for Ethan", I screamed at Avery so she could hear me.

"Just make sure to keep your voice low", she teased me.

"We aren't doing anything" I replied to her.

I wasn't ready to do anything with Ethan, but I was ready to jump on the bed with Tyler. I smirked at the thought of I and Tyler together on the bed and what those hands could do to me.

"Hey babe" I said as I saw him sitting among his friends.

He jumped up to greet me, while his friend gave me a weird look before smiling at them. I waved it off because his friends had never liked me before, and I didn't care, as I didn't have business with them. "Thank you for coming to my party". He gave me a light peck on my forehead.

We walked back to the living room where everyone was partying hard and drinking themselves into a stupor. I glanced around, and I saw Avery dancing with Gideon. I always knew they had a connection. I smile at the thought. Ethan passed a cup to me which I gulped down. I needed a boost tonight and nothing is holding me down. Avery saw me and waved at me "I will be right back". I told Ethan

"Alright babe, but don't wander too far, I have plans for us" he told me as he reluctantly let go of my hand.

"I can see you are enjoying yourself", I told her as I smiled towards Gideon.

"I don't know what you are talking about", he brushed her hair shyly.

"I am your friend; you can't pretend to me" I reminded her.

"Okay, I like him, but he has got to sweat it," she finally admitted as a smile crept into her face.

"I can see that he feels the same towards you."

"I know, I need to tell you something" she said.

"What's wrong, don't tell me you are getting into his bed tonight?"

"No" she screamed, but later burst into laughter. "Maybe, we can't tell."

"Okay, what then?"

"I don't think Ethan is the right guy for you."

I don't think he was the right guy for me, but I am only using him to get over the only man I ever loved, but still, yet I want to know what she sees in him. "Why did you say that?" I finished the rest of the drink and I began to feel that my headache

"I think I saw him talking to someone earlier. I saw them exchanging something."

"How would you have seen that, seeing how pretty busy you are with your guy," I teased her.

"He is not my guy."

"Yet", my phone rang, and I checked to see that it was from Ethan telling me to come and meet him in room 29. "I have to go", I told Avery.

She nodded her head as I began to find my way upstairs in search of Ethan. My head was feeling fuzzy, it was like I was craving someone's touch. There was a wall in front of me and it looked very strong. I ran into them. "Ethan", I moaned his name.

The wall had a hand as they captured me in their embrace. It also had a cologne that I was addicted to. I tried to blink to see where I was, but I couldn't, as everything wasn't clear except that it wasn't a wall but a man. I was feeling hot all of a sudden. The person's touch wasn't helping at all. I needed more, and he wasn't giving me what I wanted.

"I will fucking kill him". That was the last thing I heard as he scooped me up to God knows where while I smuggled closer to him.
