Chapter 3

Georgina tiptoed to the door and closed it, excited about what she was about to read up on this 'mystery man’ who was giving her butterflies in her belly. She was attracted to him already, and she knew it, so the piece of information on his Wikipedia page was of utmost importance to her.

Then she walked quietly back to the study table and the computer, got herself as comfortable as she could in her seat and then began to read up:

Full name: Zayn Onroy Jones.

Age: 39. He was sixteen years older than her. Woah!

Career: Philanthropist, Businessman. Mm.. Interesting.

But nothing stunned her like his estimated net worth… $64.5 billion.

Georgina was agape and remained so until Hailey came into the room with Nancy.

They'd come to tell her that what she'd said to Nancy was inappropriate, disrespectful and bitchy and that she compulsorily had to apologize, only to see her staring unmoved at the computer screen.

When they both looked at the screen, the information on it didn't make any sense to Nancy, but Hailey reconciled the photo on the screen with her memory of the face of the man they'd seen earlier that day.

So when she saw the net worth, too, she turned, stunned, to Nancy and the only thing she could say was:

“Bloody hell.”

***

Returning from the meeting, which had thankfully gone well, Zayn Jones was texting some associates while Denis drove in silence until he decided to speak:

“Say, sir.. That woman we almost hit, today-”

“YOU almost hit her, not ‘me’ or 'we’, Denis,” Zayn interrupted, without looking up.

“Very well, sir.. The woman I almost hit today.. You both looked good together, from my perspective.”

Hearing his driver say this left Zayn with no choice but to laugh.

“You think so, Denis?”

“Absolutely, sir. And although I've not seen you with any women, by way of intimate relationships, since I began working with you, I believe you will both be good together.”

Denis was about 47 years old, and Zayn treated him more like an older brother or, more appropriately, an uncle and less like a driver.

Hence, the man was comfortable enough to speak on such personal matters. Zayn, instead of being offended as some bosses would have been, began to consider it.

He had not given love a thought because he had discovered that his past three relationships had been with people who'd not loved him but have loved the things that came with him; money, vacations, cars etc.

He had felt attracted to the woman, though, and he'd felt bad when her sister, or whoever was with her, had been hitting her. So maybe, just maybe, Denis was right.

“Well, then.. Since it's your idea.. I'll give you a task.. Find out where she lives, or works.. Something, anything at all about her. And when you do, inform her that I'd like to go out and grab dinner with her.. Tomorrow or the day after.. Try not to make it seem like I'm ordering her, okay? Just ask her.. Can you do that?”

Denis was more than happy to oblige, “You can count on me, captain..”

Zayn laughed again, and the ride went silent once more.

For a good amount of time on the way until he got home, there was only one name on his mind: Georgina. That, however, was until a call came in from the interim chairman at his father's company, Mr Liam.

“Hello?” he said as he took it.

“Hello, Young Zayn, something really urgent has come up, son.. I'll be coming over to your house tomorrow morning so we can talk about it..”

This was a surprise to Zayn. What could have come up?

“What's the matter, Mr Liam?”

“Don't ask any questions, now, Zayn. You'll know all you need to know tomorrow morning.”

And, with that, Mr Liam hung up.

Zayn was left confused; what had happened?

***

“Your call came in at a very unexpected time, Mr Liam, I must say.. I'm keen on what you have to say.”

The following morning, Zayn was welcoming the interim chairman of his father's company, Mr Liam Pearson, to his home.

The man was a trusted partner of Zayn's father who was merely holding the seat until a mainstay chairman would be elected.

Mr Liam was in a suit and had been let in by one of Zayn's helpers.

Zayn had come down the steps in his pajamas and was meeting with him in his living room. It seemed Mr Liam had something important to say.

“Young Zayn,” Mr Liam started, “I spoke with your father yesterday..”

“He's enjoying his vacation in Milan and didn't want to be disturbed, but I needed to know if he had any advice for you. And he made me understand that you check all the boxes to be chairman.. All.. But one..”

Hearing that even his own father believed that there was something lacking which could cost him the seat of chairman which he'd been working towards for almost as long as he'd been alive, he paid instant and rapt attention.

“What could that be, Mr Liam?”

“You see, Young Zayn..”

‘Young Zayn’ was Mr Liam's pet name for him and it was what he always addressed him with.

“.. You have top tier charisma.. A spotless legal record.. Your personal finances are checked and balanced.. You're educated..”

“You've gotten the necessary experience and have bided your time all along, working at various small businesses owned by your father and learning diligently..

“You've taken the time to come up with a powerful manifesto that attracts and intrigues the staff at Papa Jones worldwide..”

“You've improved and further enriched each one of your father's business which you handled, no matter how tight your budget was or how difficult the staff were, so it's safe to trust you with the responsibility of handling Papa Jones.”

“You have all these.. But you lack one thing, still.. The one thing that should cap off the proof of your responsibility and manhood..”

And as he said this,Mr Liam leaned in to Zayn and squinted his eyes a little but, as though he wanted Zayn to pay careful attention to the words he was about to utter.

And Zayn clenched his fists and swallowed hard, ready to hear this attribute that could be so detrimental to his chairmanship hopes.

Chapter 4

Zayn was tense, listening to whatever it could be that he was lacking. He wouldn't care what it would cost to get it; he was going to get it.

Now that the elections were only roughly a month and three weeks away, he wasn't going to let anything ruin his chances after so much preparation and sacrifice.

“.. And this one thing that you lack, Young Zayn,” Mr Liam continued, “Is a woman to call your own.”

Hearing this, Zayn was stunned. Was Mr Liam being serious right now? Being single was going to cancel out all these wonderful qualities that he already possessed? And so he asked:

“But, Mr Liam, why on earth is this going to ruin my chances?”

He was attracted to that Georgina lady, but he didn't even know her well, yet, and he couldn't know for sure if she was the kind of woman he wanted to be married to.

The last thing he wanted was to get together with a woman who was materialistic; a woman who would marry him only to divorce him after a few years or even months to get a massive payout.

He was basically afraid of getting his heart broken by getting into a situation where he'd give all his love and realize that the person he was giving it to never had any plans of reciprocation.

“Because, Zayn.. You need to understand how people think.. Society sees bachelors, especially the ones in your age bracket, as irresponsible men..”

“Now, you may not be one of the irresponsible men, and in fact, I know you're not one of the irresponsible men because I've had time to observe you, but I'm not the one to vote you into that seat.”

“It's the staff who are to vote at the end of the day, and you have to accept and understand that the opinion of the electorate will always be a key determinant in any electoral process.”

“You need the trust and support of the people if you're going to get them to vote for you and the truth of the matter is that you NEED to give them, the staff who are all going to be under you, every reason to believe in you.”

“Right now, the staff's general opinion of you is: Rich Playboy. And you know they will never trust such a person to run the affairs of the company where they work. You need a woman, Zayn.”

“And when I say 'a woman', I'm not just talking about a woman you could go to the cinema with or a woman that you engage.. You need to get married before the elections begin.”

“This way, more of the staff will automatically and subconsciously see you as responsible and more of them will have faith in you. And you know that more faith from the voters equals more votes from them.”

Zayn pondered this for a bit, stroking the hair on his chin, before replying:

“So, it's a matter of urgency, huh?”

And Mr Liam nodded his head in affirmation before adding, “It is, Young Zayn. See, I want you to win this election, I want you to be Chairman of Papa Jones.”

“Your father wants this, your mother wants this and even a percentage of staff wants this. And I know you want this, too.”

“But you need to understand that there are people who do not want this; the ones you're contesting against. So this is an inescapable hurdle. Do whatever is necessary, talk to your mother, figure something out..”

“But you must have a bride.. I have another meeting to attend, so I'll leave you now. And I'll expect your invitation card to arrive any moment.”

And with this, Mr Liam extended his hand for a handshake, which Zayn duly took. Then, the interim chairman walked out, leaving Zayn in the large living room, alone and perplexed.

Georgina had just survived another day of laborious studying and catching up, coupled with the fact that the sun was beating down on her skull. Hard.

She had eaten nothing all day, as part of Hailey's acts of 'punishment’ for her harsh words to Nancy. She had apologized severally, but that hadn't stopped her sister from choosing to starve her and also not giving her any money for transportation.

The few dollars she had on her were what had gotten her to school that day, and now that she was done with her classes and everything else for the day, how to return home was the big issue.

She stood by the road inside the campus, confused, stressed, hungry and about to burst into tears when further reasons for frustration popped up.

“Need a ride, Georgina baby?”

A blue, fairly used Honda Accord pulled up in front of her and as soon as she saw the guys inside it, her stomach turned; these guys again.

They were a group of three guys of her own age and in her faculty named Jack, Grant and Andrew. They were rumored to sleep with the same girls at the same time, so getting together with one was basically getting together with all of them.

Being seen with them was enough reason to lose respect, talk more of being in the same car as them.

They'd been on her neck for weeks, trying to get her to date them, probably because they liked what they saw when they looked at her rear or her chest.

“No, thank you, I'm good.”

“Come on, Georgina, it's just a ride.. It's not like we're planning on groping or sucking on those huge jugs on your chest, are we?” Jack, the one behind the wheel said and they all laughed.

Bastards.

And now, she was in a dilemma; go with them and risk harassment or walk to the gate, an estimated twelve minute walk, under the blazing heat of the sun and risk fainting.

What was she to do?

At this point, in her moment of indecision, a familiar BMW pulled up just in front of the car being driven by the three jackals.

Georgina instantly knew that she had seen that car somewhere.

Out of the car came Denis, Zayn's driver, who walked towards her and said:

“Good afternoon, Miss Georgina.. If you don't mind, I would like to offer you a ride home, courtesy of my boss, Mr Zayn Jones.”

After saying this, he bowed his head and opened the door to the rear passenger seat; a royal invite.

Jack, Grant and Andrew looked on in silence and awe; Georgina had a driver?

Chapter 5

Hailey and Nancy were at home and snacking on some chicken and chips, chattering about the 'discipline’ Hailey had begun to inflict on Georgina.

“And she walked to the kitchen this morning, looking all eager, expecting to see some food in there, somewhere..”

“When she didn't see any, she was stunned.. You should've seen her face,” Hailey was laughing maniacally at her sister's plight and Nancy was enjoying every minute of it.

“Serves her right,” Nancy replied, “She should learn that no one fends for anyone else in the real world. She can't expect you to do all the working while she does all the eating..”

“I've told her every way to get some work and make money but she's turned it all down, even going to the extent of criticizing my hustle..”

“Forgetting that it's the one that keeps both me and her big ass fed, as well as keeping this roof over our heads.. So I think she needs this lesson.”

Nancy nodded for a while before saying, “And, as a matter of fact, I think you shouldn't stop there; you should threaten to kick her out.. Give her an ultimatum to find some work and support her needs or you'll kick her out..”

Hailey thought for a bit before asking, “You think that would help?”

“Like a charm,” Nancy replied, “It's gonna be the wakeup call her lazy ass needs.”

And so, Hailey connived with her friend to make her own sister's life hell, but little did she know that she would be the one getting a wake-up call.. In a matter of minutes..

It was a surprising sight for Hailey and Nancy when Georgina came back from school that afternoon, all smiles, with three new, extra large and full shopping bags in her hands, giving them pecks and hugs and singing a sweet tune.

Had the girl gone mad? They thought.

“Why the fuck are you so happy, young lady?” Hailey asked.

“Well,” Georgina naively began, “I was at school today and I was wondering how I'd get home seeing as I had no money on me to take a taxi or even board a train. So while I was wondering, guess who pulled up..?”

Nancy and Hailey looked at one another, confused and wondering who could have pulled up to save the day for the nobody that was Georgina.

“Drake?” Hailey said eventually, having nothing else to say.

Georgina laughed out loud and then said, “No, no, no, silly.. Not Drake.. Zayn Jones’ driver.. In his BMW..”

“And he picked me up from school, driving me all the way down. Then, he took me shopping and I made sure to buy something for you two.. Here..”

She handed one of the gift bags to Hailey, who took it with a look of shock on her face.

Then, Hailey began to unveil the items in the bag:

First was a plus sized perfume bottle which, according to the price tag on it, cost $1,800.

Then, a fairly large silver box. On it was a tag of $50,000. Opening it, Hailey found necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

The next item was two phones, brand new with their packages. They were the latest Samsung smartphones. They cost a total of $2,900.

Nancy and Hailey were lost for words, but Georgina had more with which to stun them:

“And.. His driver said we have a date tonight, so I'll have to go prepare because he's going to come pick me up..”

Nancy swallowed hard and Hailey couldn't believe her ears. She, however, managed to ask:

“Wh- what did he get you, then? If you got us this expensive shit?”

And as Georgina made to reveal the items she'd received, Hailey shuddered.

Had Georgina become wealthier than her overnight? She had better not.

“Oh, I only needed a new laptop, a new phone and a few books.. But he said his boss would kill him if he found out that these were the only things he got me, so he went out of his way..”

“I've got so much clothes, jewelry and accessories now that I don't think I'd be able to use them even till the year runs out.. He also gave me some money.. So, now sis, I will be less of a burden to you.. That's good, right?”

Hailey didn't know how to respond.

“Well, yeah.. I guess..” she managed to say after a few moments of silence.

“I know it's surprising, Hailey, I mean, I can't believe it, myself.. But it's happening.. Anyway, I have to go get prepared for the date..”

And with this, Georgina skipped away happily, leaving Hailey and Nancy stunned.

Just that morning, Georgina had left the house on an empty stomach because Hailey had intentionally not made any food available, and now, by 2pm at noon, the same girl was returning with gifts worth over $50,000 for her and Nancy.

Nancy looked at Hailey and could see the expression of shock and a hint of rage on her friend's face. So, to lighten the mood, she said:

“You know.. We could actually be better off going off to work tonight.”

Hailey scoffed before answering, “Why? So that some hairy, smelly and horny truck driver who's been stressed all month long could stick his plus sized, veiny cock into my pussy and pound the crap out of me for a little over two hundred dollars?”

“And, I'll be getting plowed for next to nothing while that lazy ass bitch, Georgina, goes on a date with a billionaire, eating fine and dainty food? No, Nancy, I don't think so..”

The bitterness in Hailey's voice was evident, as though Georgina was the reason she had failed so far in her pursuit for wealth, or as though Georgina was the one who'd controlled their fates and had given her an unfortunate one..

“Well, what do you want?” Nancy asked, tired of Hailey's whining, moaning and bitching.

“I want that life! The life she's about to cruise into! I want it! I deserve it! I've worked for it! She hasn't! She's been privileged and spoon-fed all her life and she should rot! Not enjoying everything or anything good! Why always her? I want that life!”

Hailey's outburst stunned Nancy. It was so bad that she was actually crying out of sheer bitterness.

Nancy, seeing how badly her friend wanted this, said:

“And you will have it, Hailey..”

“How? She's already on her way-” Hailey tried to protest.

“Leave that to me.. She's done the hard part of discovering this rich, handsome man.. Now, you and I, we will take him from her..”
