Chapter 2

Quincy and I met in the hospital.

He is a famous young doctor in internal medicine. Unfortunately, I have suffered from serious heart disease since I was born.

During the treatment, I gradually fell in love with this young and promising doctor.

He did not reject my love care and started a new relationship with me soon.

At that time, I thought I was like the heroine in the novel and had finally found my true love.

Until that he got drunk and kept calling the other name while I was hugging him.

I had heard that name from his friend before.

It was a friend of theirs who had gone abroad a long time ago.

But I didn't expect that Quincy was so familiar with her.

Just as I was feeling sad, I saw a photo fall out of his shirt pocket.

The woman in the photograph possesses gracefully curved eyebrows and eyes that sparkle when she smiles, exuding an incomparable purity.

More importantly, she looks a bit like me.

Even the names have the same meaning.

My name is Sophia Annex. Quincy likes to hug me and call me gently, "Sophie."

It was then that I realized that the woman he was calling was never me.

She was his childhood sweetheart, the one who he has loved with wishful thinking for many years.

Sofia Chaney.

After that I grew apart from him in my heart.

He wanted to ask me if something happened?

I kept silent.

Quincy gradually became impatient and stopped asking me about this problem.

But when I was about to come to terms with it, Sofia came back.

Quincy acted like a simp without hesitation.

His did that for more than a year.

Even when I had a car accident, he didn't even come back to visit me.

Thinking of this, I feel even more heartbroken.

If I could wake up... I would never love him again.

Maybe God heard my prayers.

The morning after I was in a coma, I finally woke up.

The only people I could see were Lily and my only younger brother.

"Sister...you finally woke up."

Henry wiped away his tears and looked at me injuredly.

"Where is my brother-in-law? Why doesn't he come to see you?"

I was wearing an oxygen mask and couldn't utter a word. I could only gesture with my hands with great effort.

"He is not your brother-in-law anymore."

Henry looked at me, not understanding what I meant.

I always told him that I loved Quincy very much.

I would never give up on him in my life.

But now, I don’t think about it anymore.

Henry knew that I must have been wronged, so he immediately wiped away his tears and took out his cell phone.

He just became a freshman this year, but he has been protecting me for many years.

"Henry, is there something wrong?"

The impatient voice of Quincy came from the other end of the phone.

Listening carefully, I could hear a woman's sweet laughers nearby.

He was still with Sofia.

Henry's eyes turned red with anger: "My sister was hit by a car and is about to die!"

Quincy was stunned for a moment, then sneered, "Tell me, how much money do you want to get this time?"

Hearing this, Henry was so angry that he held his phone tightly and his body couldn't stop shaking.

My younger brother had gone through the psychological rebellious phase when he was in high school.

At that time, he liked to skip school to surf the Internet. Because he didn't dare to call me, he kept finding excuses to ask Quincy for money.

Until I discovered the clue and gave him a severe lesson.

He finally turned over a new leaf.

Henry tried to explain.

Sofia in the phone spoke firstly, "Are you Quincy's brother-in-law? You lie without thinking. Your sister was fine yesterday. How could she be dying?"

"Besides, Quincy is a doctor. If Mrs. Jones is sick, won't the hospital inform him?"

She said, and laughed.

Her tone became more sarcastic. "If you want to get money, I'll ask Quincy to call you later. Don't disturb our date. Thank you"

Henry couldn't control his emotions and yelled into the phone, "You bitch, shut up!"

I was startled by the sound and my heart started beating wildly.

The pain that penetrated deep into my bones swept through my whole body again.

Seeing that something went to wrong, Lily came over to check my vital signs.

The call was still hung on, so I could hear Sofia acting coquettishly to Quincy.

"Quincy, your brother-in-law is really fierce, no wonder that he came from a poor place~"

Quincy tried to comfort her, but he suddenly became angry. "Henry, that's enough! Tell your sister that I'm going to divorce her when I get back. I can't stand you blood-sucking anymore!"

After saying that, he hung up the phone in the cruel manner.

Henry watched my life monitor beeping with tears in his eyes.

I considered, even if God didn't give me a chance to be recovery, I would never love him again.

Chapter 3

I was gravely ill, clinging to life by a mere thread, and now I have reached the very brink of exhaustion.

Doctor Lee came to check on my physical condition, but could only shake his head and sigh.

My brother and Lily stood in front of my bed with tears streaming down their faces, apologizing continuously.

"I'm sorry...it's all our fault."

I forced a smile, tears welling up from the corners of my eyes.

"Please draft a divorce agreement for me."

There were no property division issues between us.

I spent all my savings on my previous medical treatment, and most of my accommodation and food in the past few years have been provided by Quincy.

He was right. In the past few years, my younger brother and I have been just like he said.

we were blood-suckers.

I would leave penniless this time.

The divorce agreement was only a thin page, and I solemnly signed my name on it.

When I put down the pen, Henry and Lily's eyes were red with tears again.

I tried to smile more beautifully and told them.

If my body was useless, please burn me.

And scatter my bone ashes in the sea.

It was cold underground and I would feel scared.

My parents were in the sea. Only by scattering in the sea could I reunit with them.

When I had the car accident yesterday, I had already signed the body donation agreement.

After my death, my organs would be donated to someone who can use them.

My body would become the Silent Mentor of the hospital.

This was the last contribution I could make to this world.

Henry nodded with tears in her eyes.

"Sister... I have no relatives anymore..."

I wanted to reach out and touch his face, but in the end, I couldn't lift my hand.

I was alive yesterday, but today I has bid farewell to this world.

I was so clean that I didn't need anyone to encoffin me.

Then the hospital would give my corpse special treatment and place it in the morgue.

When Quincy finally returned from vacation, all he got was a divorce agreement from me.

He was very unhappy with my sudden divorce.

As soon as he arrived at the office, he tore the divorce agreement into pieces.

He picked up his phone and called me.

There was only a busy signal on the other end of the phone.

In the form of a soul, I looked at him silently.

It turned out that people really do have souls after their death.

But why, I met him again.

I didn't answer the phone for a long time and he looked a little annoyed.

He took out his phone and called Henry.

His phone showed that he had been blacklisted.

Quincy became even more annoyed and slammed his phone on the table.

Just as he was about to make another call, Lily knocked on the office door.

Because of me, she was very dissatisfied with him.

She said calmly, "Mr. Jones, our dean wants you to give an anatomy class to the graduate students later."

"Um."

Quincy thought of something, and when Lily pushed the door open and left, he asked again, "Where is Mrs. Jones?"

She was stunned for a moment and said, "I don't know."

Quincy didn't ask any more questions and waved his hand to let her go out.

He sat down and his cell phone rang.

He was obviously proud for a moment, but when he saw "Sofia" displayed on it, he felt inexplicably disappointed.

"Hey Quincy, my new bed has arrived. When are you free to come over?"

Sofia's bed had an accident the day before yesterday, so she has a new one now.

It transpired that regardless of whether they had to test the new bed during those days, they would have spent every moment together.

"Tonight."

He set the time, and the other side laughed even more loudly.

She returned home these days and planned to stay to forward her career.

Quincy had been her constant companion, accompanying her in all her endeavors - from leasing a home, to purchasing a bed, to testing various sleeping arrangements. He never left her side.

Originally, there was an ambiguity between the two of them when they were young.

Now, how could they endure it?

So Sofia didn't care whether he had a wife or not. She asked with a sweet laugh, " Is it true that you said that day about divorcing Mrs. Jones?"

There was absolutely no beating around the bush in her words.

Her ambition was written in plain sight.

That's right. There has never been any twists and turns between them.

She can say whatever she wants to say. She is much intimate to Quincy than me, his wife.

I thought he would agree immediately.

But when he looked at the torn paper, his eyes suddenly darkened.

"Talk later."

He gave her an ambiguous answer and hung up.

"Sophia, you are extremely audacious."

He cursed at me through the phone, and then took his equipment and prepared to go to class.

I was a little nervous.

Because this time he was going to dissect my body.

Chapter 4

This wasn't the first time I had been candid with him.

He skillfully performed my surgery several years ago, seamlessly suturing the scar on my chest.

Every time he likes to hold me in his arms and admire his masterpiece.

But this time was different, this time I became his Silent Mentor.

"What was the cause of the cadaver teacher's death?"

As usual, Quincy began by asking questions before class.

While disinfecting, he kept looking towards the autopsy room.

"Traffic accident."

Lily answered calmly.

Hearing these two words, he was obviously stunned for a moment, then smiled bitterly and shook his head.

He still didn't believe that I would die in an accident.

Without saying anything else, he ordered Lily to bring in the graduate students who were attending the class.

At the moment, a dozen people surrounded my body.

The cold incandescent light shone on my body, and as usual, they paid silent tribute to me.

Previously, my cornea had been donated to a child, and my face was covered in blood due to a car accident.

This time, he wanted to show content related to the heart. The relevant personnel had already covered my face and lower body early, leaving only the area from chest to lower abdomen exposed.

Ending silence, he calmly picked up the scalpel.

"Did she have heart surgery before she died?"

He frowned and looked at Lily.

She nodded with red eyes.

Because my heart was scratched by a sharp object during the car accident, he did not notice the scar, which was his usual practice.

He said nothing more and continued to cut.

Each time, he calmly explained the relevant structures to the students.

His surgical precision is impeccable, no doubt why he's the youngest deputy director in the internal medicine department.

The students listened attentively. Lily, who was serving as a teaching assistant, wiped her tears silently and said nothing.

I had already told her about that before I died.

If I unfortunately become his Slient Mentor, didn't stop that happen.

It was the same no matter who perform the dissection.

So now she could only watch silently and say nothing, like a toy doll with its soul drained out.

"This is the passage for heart bypass."

He pointed to a certain place and explained it to the students in detail.

He went deeper again, but his brows became more and more furrowed.

I knew he had sensed something was wrong.

Because there was a layer of sweat on his forehead, the hand holding the knife seemed not so steady.

"Will not..."

He muttered to himself, took a deep breath and used the tool to peel off the membrane again.

Just one glance, he freeze.

There was no way he didn't remember the things and locations he had placed there himself a few years ago.

"Impossible!"

He suddenly raised his voice and his whole body was shaking.

"What's wrong, Mr Jones?"

The graduate students nearby were frightened and quickly gathered around.

He put down the scalpel, still in shock.

Suddenly thinking of Lily's abnormal behavior today, he rushed over and asked, "What's the name of today's Silent Mentor?"

Lily shook her head and said nothing, just silently shedding tears.

Speak!"

He was so angry that he was shaking all over, tears welling up in his eyes.

"Mr. Jones, you are so smart, how could you not recognize it?"

Lily said this in a low voice and continued to wipe her tears.

He took a step back in shock, with his eyes wide open. His gaze lingering on the operating table, as if he wanted to stare a hole in it.

The air was as quiet as stagnant water.

It took him a while to react and he rushed over viciously.

The white cloth covering my body was lifted, revealing my face.
