Letitia's frame-up was not clever, but Ezekiel still felt distressed when he saw the panic-stricken Letitia.
He frowned, not having time to think about the unreasonableness of it and was only focused on persuading Ivy.
“Ivy, I don't blame you, but no matter how much you hate Letitia, you should always put the overall situation first.
“Letitia has an assessment this afternoon. This assessment is related to whether Letitia will stay or go. No matter how angry you are, you can't joke about Letitia's career. Is it so difficult to just lend you a piece of clothing?”
Listening to his accusations, her hands trembled uncontrollably. She nodded her head and said firmly, “Yes.”
Although Ivy did not know what Letitia was up to, why should she sacrifice herself for something she had not done?
Looking at Ezekiel's angry face, her heart ached again. Ivy really did not want to get entangled with them anymore, so she turned around and prepared to leave.
Sensing her intention, Letitia spoke again with a crying voice, “It's okay, Ezekiel. If Doctor Reid doesn't want to lend it, then don't force her. The director just scolded me a few words. I can bear it.”
Letitia seemed to be trying to persuade them, but in fact she was adding fuel to the fire.
Ezekiel's face darkened and he suddenly reached out and grabbed Ivy, holding her shoulders.
Ivy stared at him in astonishment. Her heart felt like it was being grasped by countless hands and she was about to suffocate.
After ten years of love, that was the first time Ezekiel forced her.
Just to find a white coat for Letitia, there were so many doctors in the whole hospital, why must she have that one?
Ivy's face was covered with wounds and he struggled desperately, but was still defeated.
Looking at her hurt expression, Ezekiel felt a little reluctant, but the sobbing of Letitia behind him made him harden his heart.
“Ivy, be good and wear it for a while.”
The clothes were forcibly changed and Ivy looked at the red marks on her wrists and remained silent.
There was no greater sorrow than a dead heart. She looked coldly at Letitia, who was proud of herself after changing her clothes. She raised her foot to leave, but suddenly a scream came from behind her.
It was Letitia.
She held up a red envelope and looked at Ivy in shock, “Doctor Reid, no wonder you didn't want to change clothes with me, it turns out you secretly accepted the envelope from the patient.”
All of a sudden, there was a buzzing sound in her brain and Ivy stood there in a daze.
She suddenly remembered that before the operation this morning, the patient's family had grabbed her clothes and begged desperately.
Without time to think, she subconsciously looked at everyone and shook her head to deny, “I didn't.”
By chance, the family member showed up.
He grabbed Ivy's hand with a distorted expression, “Miss Reid, why don't you have any? I gave you 4,000 dollars.”
The doctors and patients who were attracted by the exclamations looked at Ivy in surprise and talked about it.
“You can't judge a person by her appearance, but you can judge her heart by her attitude. Doctor Reid actually did such a thing. She is not worthy of being a doctor at all.”
All the strength in her body seemed to be drained away. Ivy looked up in a daze and happened to meet Letitia's smile.
She said silently, “Ivy, this is what happens if you don't break up with Ezekiel.”
Shock and anger filled Ivy's mind.
She did not have time to think, rushed over and slapped Letitia, “Letitia, you cheated me.”
Ezekiel's face changed drastically. He pulled Letitia into his arms and frowned at Ivy.
“Ivy, you disappoint me so much! You made the mistake yourself, but you still want to put the blame on Letitia.”
Hearing that, Ivy looked at him and suddenly remembered the past and her eyes could not help but redden.
When she was studying for her doctorate, her thesis topic was plagiarized by her junior, who then falsely accused her.
It was Ezekiel who stepped forward, blocked her behind him and said firmly, “I believe Ivy is definitely not such a person.”
He hugged the aggrieved Ivy and said, “Ivy, no matter what happens, I believe in you.”
But then, for the sake of Letitia, he broke his promise.
What hurt more than the sarcasm in his words was his distrustful look.
The director took the three of them to the office.
Since there was no sound in the surveillance video and the red envelope was indeed found in Ivy's clothes, she was demoted and fined.
After hearing what happened, especially the incident involving the changing of clothes, a glimmer of understanding flashed across the director’s eyes.
She sent Letitia away, she turned to Ivy and Ezekiel and said slowly, “Ivy, I believe you. The hospital will continue to conduct a thorough investigation and clear your name.
“What are you going to do with Letitia then?”
Ivy was warmed by the director's words.
The director believed her, but her fiancé, with whom she had been in love for ten years, was full of distrust.
She laughed at herself and said in a weak but firm voice, “I want her to leave the Second Hospital.”
Ezekiel's eyes flashed and he wanted to explain, but after seeing Ivy's expression, he closed his mouth again.
How could he not understand that all of this was directed and acted by Letitia herself?
He just did not want to expose the truth and did not want to disappoint Letitia, so it did not matter even if it hurt Ivy.
Ivy figured that out, felt sour and bitter in her heart.
She took a deep breath, suppressed her hurt, said thank you to the director and then stood up to leave.
Ezekiel was a little flustered and followed closely.
Anyway, she was leaving in five days, so she simply packed her things, took annual leave and went home directly.
In the evening, after Ezekiel got off work, he saw the suitcase in the living room and finally panicked.
He held Ivy's hand tightly, his voice trembling, “Ivy, where are you going? Why are you suddenly packing your things?”
Ivy turned her head and looked at the calendar with only a few pages left, without saying anything.
Ezekiel followed her gaze and after seeing the calendar clearly, he suddenly breathed a sigh of relief.
According to convention, Ivy had to return to the Reid Family before getting married.
He pulled Ivy to sit down, packed her luggage for her and coaxed her in a soft voice.
“Ivy, I know you are angry and you have been wronged, but…."
He paused, then spoke hesitantly, “But, can we not let the director investigate this matter again? Letitia has worked diligently for so long and she will definitely be sad if she loses this internship.”
Ivy was amused by his bandit logic and asked calmly, “What about me? Am I not sad when I was wrongly accused and demoted?”
Without thinking, Ezekiel blurted out, “You are different.
“Ivy, we are going to get married soon and you still have me. I believe in you.”
It was indeed different. The person who truly had Ezekiel’s support was Letitia.
Ivy lowered her eyes to hide the mockery in her eyes and chuckled, “Yes, you are one of them.”
Seeing her self-deprecating smile, Ezekiel felt a dull pain in his heart as if he was hurt.
