Chapter 8

Seeing the worry on his face, the pain made my reaction slower.

So Noah had been standing there the whole time, watching Millie torture me.

Even when I was forced against the wall covered in needles, I was hurting so badly that I cried out.

He still ignored it.

But Millie only got a small scrape.

Yet Noah rushed over to her in panic.

I pulled at my lips and stopped looking at them, then turned around to leave.

Behind me, Noah’s cold voice suddenly sounded.

“Brielle, did I say you can leave? You really disappoint me too much!”

“I already told you, stop using your rude and controlling attitude on Millie!”

“Millie sincerely did this for your own good. She wanted you to learn manners, and this is how you treat her? You fought back and even shoved her down! Whether you want to learn today or not, you still must learn it!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Noah’s bodyguards stepped in front of me.

He tightly held me down and forced those shoes filled with broken glass onto my feet.

After that, the bodyguards tied my hands and dragged me forward by force.

The sharp glass instantly sliced through my feet, and even my breath carried the smell of blood.

I tried to struggle, but they only treated me even more roughly.

The glass pierced deeper into my feet until they slowly became numb.

Right before I passed out, Noah’s smiling face suddenly appeared in my mind.

“Brielle, you can stay proud forever. I’ll always protect you.”

He wasn’t my protection, he was a liar…

When I woke up again, I was already in the hospital.

My feet were wrapped in bandages and raised high.

Noah rested beside my bed, dark circles under his eyes making it look like he had stayed there for a long time.

Not long after, he suddenly woke from sleep.

The moment he saw my eyes open, he immediately pulled me into his arms and said in a shaking voice.

“Brielle, you finally woke up. I didn’t know there was broken glass inside those shoes. Please forgive me, okay?”

He hurriedly placed the apology gifts he had prepared long ago in front of me.

Every item was expensive, but I didn’t even spare them a glance.

I only calmly asked, “Where’s Millie?”

Noah paused for a second before softly saying, “Brielle, Millie already knows she was wrong. She didn’t mean to do it. After hearing you got hurt, she cried for a long time, too. For the sake of these gifts, can you forgive her?”

I mockingly laughed.

“Noah, Millie almost ruined my feet forever. Do you really think I’d believe she didn’t know there was broken glass inside those shoes?”

“The wall she made me stand against during posture training was covered in needles she prepared. Did you really not notice them? Or did you just pretend not to see?”

Noah clearly didn’t expect me to speak so coldly.

He frowned and said, “Brielle, you really misunderstood Millie. She’s not that kind of person.”

Before he could finish speaking, his phone rang.

In just a second, Noah’s expression completely changed.

He stared at me with dark eyes and clenched his teeth.

“Brielle, I already told you Millie isn’t that kind of cruel person. Why did you still have someone kidnap her?”

I frowned. “Noah, I just woke up. How could I even—”

Before I could finish, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me off the hospital bed.

My injured foot slammed onto the floor, tearing the wound open again. Pain rushed through my whole body, and blood quickly soaked the bandages red.

My face turned pale from the pain, but Noah didn’t even spare me a glance as he dragged me outside.

When I finally understood what was happening, Noah had already taken me to an empty factory.

Several rough-looking men had tightly tied up Millie.

The moment she saw Noah, her eyes suddenly brightened, and tears rolled down her face.

“Noah, save me quickly. I’m hurting so badly.”

She cried helplessly.

Pain appeared in Noah’s eyes right away.

Ignoring the injuries on my feet, he dragged me in front of the kidnappers and anxiously said, “Let Millie go right now!”

I clenched my teeth and said hoarsely, “I didn’t hire them. This has nothing to do with me.”

Not far away, Millie cried again. Noah instantly became angry and harshly slapped my face.

“Brielle, are you done causing problems yet? Tell them to release Millie now!”

My face instantly became swollen, and my heart completely turned cold.

Seeing that I stayed silent and my eyes looked lifeless, panic suddenly flashed across Noah’s face.

He instinctively reached out to help me up, but Millie cried again.

“Noah, my stomach hurts so badly. Did something happen to our baby?”

The whole abandoned factory suddenly became quiet.

Confusion briefly appeared in Noah’s eyes, then his face quickly turned excited.

When he saw that I still refused to speak, he directly shoved me toward the kidnappers and said, “I’ll trade my wife for her. You can do whatever you want with her. I’ll send the fifty million ransom to your account later.”

After speaking, he carefully pulled Millie into his arms.

“Millie, I’ll take you to the hospital right now.”

His voice sounded full of happiness, completely ignoring me behind him, who was already close to passing out from losing too much blood.

The kidnappers looked at each other, then secretly glanced toward Millie.

In the end, they actually agreed to Noah’s exchange.

I immediately felt something was wrong and forced myself to stay awake, hoarsely shouting, “Noah! Don’t leave me here! Millie hired these people, I’ll die!”

Noah never looked back, but his voice carried blame.

“Brielle, even now, you’re still blaming Millie. She’s pregnant, and I need to take her to the hospital. Besides, these people were hired by you anyway, so nothing will happen to you.”

“Stay here first. I’ll come back for you after I’m done.”

After saying that, he walked away without turning back at me again.

Once Noah completely disappeared, the kidnappers looked at me and cruelly smiled.

“Sorry, Mrs. Garcia. Someone paid us already, and today this place will be where you die.”

After speaking, they reached toward me.

Countless punches hit my body.

The next second, a silver knife flashed before my eyes.

Just before it stabbed into me, a familiar voice suddenly shouted, “Stop!”

I finally let out a breath and weakly collapsed onto the floor.

After saving me, I pushed away the people trying to help and shakily stood up.

I placed the divorce papers, the recording and report from when Noah paid the doctor before, the video of Millie hurting me during etiquette training, and the pair of blood-covered etiquette shoes into a corner of the abandoned factory.

I knew Noah would surely come back to search the factory.

I also knew that once he saw those things, he would suffer deeply.

But none of that had anything to do with me anymore.

I was going to keep my promise to Dad and prepare for the wedding next month.

As for Noah and Millie, I wanted them to suffer in hell and never be part of my life again.
