Chapter 5

Mina left furious.

"Kylie, you must get a divorce. This male prostitute is part of some organized scheme. Damn it, how did he even figure out you were a virgin? Well, forget it..." She paused, swallowing a string of words that were about to spill out. "If you don't remember, maybe it never happened. Are you just going to take his word for it and own up?"

The more Mina thought about it, the angrier she became. "Divorce him! If he refuses, I'll find someone to deal with him. He won't be able to stay in Losland."

She patted Kylie on the shoulder again, unwilling to give up. "Don't worry. I'll find a way to get my brother divorced, too. Since you're both remarried, neither of you will complain about the other."

Kylie felt her head buzzing.

Once Mina was gone, she calmed down and thought of a tricky issue.

This apartment was bought by Mina, so it wouldn't be appropriate for her to stay here with Colton.

She realized how off-putting it would be. She sighed deeply, and when Colton returned from his trip, she sat up straight with a sense of resolve and spoke. "I'm planning to sell this apartment. Do you have another place to stay?"

Colton was putting his things and paused in surprise. It had only been three days, and he was being kicked out as soon as he walked in?

Once he understood Kylie's intention to sell the apartment back to Mina, he relaxed. "Don't worry, I can easily arrange for someone to handle it. As for where we'll stay, I'll make the arrangements."

Kylie blinked, thinking he must know a real estate agent. It was always good to have connections, she thought.

Colton then asked, "How much do you plan to sell it for?"

Kylie had already done some research. Mina had bought the apartment in a hurry, and the original owner had raised the price. Now, it might not sell for as high.

She considered and gave a discounted price. Colton stood up and made a phone call.

He returned, took her phone, and added a number. "Just tell him your requirements," he said before heading to the bathroom.

Kylie opened the chat and started talking to the agent named Jeff.

Their conversation flowed smoothly, quickly moving to the pricing stage.

Kylie said, "I want to list it for 1.36 million."

Jeff replied, "That might be high. How about the cost price?"

Kylie answered, "The cost price is 1.9 million. I have receipts."

Jeff put down the phone and stepped out onto the balcony to smoke.

He believed this was a test from Colton, and that number might even be Colton pretending on a whim.

When Colton finished his shower, he towel-dried his hair while watching Kylie, with her curly hair, busy typing messages.

A smile tugged at his lips, and he walked barefoot across the floor to sit beside her.

Kylie looked up quickly, smiling. She was impressed with the agent Colton recommended.

In Losland, there were virtually no real estate agents who could find a buyer in less than half an hour.

Her eyes sparkled with excitement. "I said I'd list it for 1.36 million, and he sold it for 1.9 million! The buyer didn't even check the house and is willing to pay in full. Incredible!"

Colton's smile widened as he gently continued speaking, following her words. "As long as you're happy. If you're not satisfied with the price, I think he can find a buyer willing to pay more."

"No, no, I'm very satisfied with this price." Kylie quickly stopped him. Meanwhile, she belatedly realized that at some point, Colton had held her hand.

Her gaze fell, and she was captivated.

Colton had a well-defined physique with clearly defined muscles and prominent abs. Most importantly, his abs felt amazing to the touch.

She swallowed discreetly, but Colton noticed her action.

His smile became more meaningful. "Now that the apartment is sorted, shouldn't we do something romantic?"

"Yes." Kylie tended to act before she thought, nodding until Colton scooped her up and headed towards the bed. She suddenly panicked, trying to escape. "Wait, wait, what do you mean by doing something romantic?"

But Colton's steps were steady, without a hint of hesitation. "We're a legally married couple now. A short separation makes the reunion sweeter, especially for the freshest kind of newlywed."

Kylie sank into the soft mattress, watching in horror as Colton's hand reached for the towel. She covered her eyes, her voice changing in alarm. "No! Shouldn't we develop our feelings first? We're not familiar with each other, and haven't met each other's parents or family. We only know each other's names. Do you even know my name?

Sex is based on a deep emotional connection between two people. Are you even listening to me? And you haven't fulfilled your responsibilities, don't touch me..." The air seemed to freeze in an instant.

Kylie dared not open her eyes, sensing a teasing smile in Colton's voice. "Honey, are you blaming me for not arranging for us to meet each other's parents? How about we arrange a meeting between our parents tomorrow?"

Chapter 6

Kylie decisively refused the idea of meeting her parents.

She was guilty, and her words were full of loopholes. She insisted that her parents were conservative and had poor blood pressure and heart conditions, so they might not be able to withstand such a big shock. "Let's take it slow. Let me subtly persuade my parents to accept it before I bring you back."

This reaction was pretty much what Colton had anticipated. He remained calm on the surface but seemed particularly keen on teasing Kylie.

"Then should I introduce you to my parents first?" he asked with a smile, and he tapped the sofa armrest with his fingers.

Kylie sat up straight, becoming nervous at his sudden suggestion.

"How about we focus on building our relationship first? After all, besides your name and, well, your profession, I don't know much else about you."

She had originally planned to discuss divorce with Colton, but his unexpectedly quick return from a business trip made the timing feel abrupt.

Colton's smile faded as he lowered his head. "Ask me anything you want to know. I won't hold back."

Kylie misunderstood his sudden lack of a smile as disappointment, which made her even more nervous, causing her to speak her mind. "I just think that now that we're married, you shouldn't be a male prostitute anymore. I don't mean to belittle any profession, but it seems a bit inappropriate. It would be so awkward if I went out with my friend and ran into you entertaining guests, especially since you're my husband."

Her speaking without a filter made the word "husband" slip out before she realized her blunder, prompting her to hurriedly cover her mouth.

Colton's mood lifted visibly.

Seeing Kylie's embarrassment, he went along with what she was saying. "I won't do anything to make you uncomfortable."

He patted Kylie's shoulder gently, as if to reassure her.

Just as Kylie began to relax, she was taken aback by his next comment. "Can we sleep now?"

"What?" Kylie immediately became alert.

Colton had already helped her up and led her towards the bedroom. "As a married couple, it's normal for us to share a bed."

Fortunately, he only meant to sleep. After returning to their bedroom, he lay down on one side and even closed his eyes, and patted his side. His sound was normal. "Goodnight, dear."

Kylie gripped the blanket tightly with both hands, lying nervously on the bed.

Colton suddenly said, "You haven't forgotten what you did to me that night, have you?"

Kylie held her breath.

Colton turned to face her, propping his head with his hand, watching her. "You drank a lot of alcohol..."

"Stop! I remember. You don't have to repeat it. I'm really sleepy now." Kylie was terrified of hearing any embarrassing details, nearly burying half her face in the blanket.

Fortunately, Colton didn't continue. He merely leaned in and kissed her forehead.

Kylie originally intended to pretend to be asleep, but she soon fell into a deep sleep.

After some rustling, Colton returned to the balcony, gazing down at the myriad of lights below, his heart softened.

He mumbled to himself, "Finally getting what I wished for... But it seems like there's still a long way to go."

In the following days, Kylie's life rhythm was completely under Colton's control.

The cleaning staff came to tidy up the room, and the moving company came to pack. She followed Colton to move, completely bewildered.

The new home was in a relatively quiet place, a large penthouse with bright and clean windows, and even the brushed carpet had a soft sheen.

Hearing Colton casually mention that he had bought it a few years ago, Kylie was shocked.

A wave of unease crept into her heart. Colton must have worked so hard to afford such a place, considering a male prostitute would have to scrape by to save that much.

However, over the days they spent together, she adapted to their way of interacting.

He was considerate and gentle, not overly talkative, yet he could mention topics that piqued her interest.

Their interactions were well-balanced, which made Kylie feel comfortable.

Most of the upheaval came from Regina's non-stop nagging calls.

Kylie always scrambled to hide on the balcony, lowering her voice when answering.

Regina was serious. "How's the job search going? When are you coming back for the matchmaking?"

"Mom, I..."

Before Kylie could finish, Regina impatiently interrupted, "I knew you'd try to make excuses again. There's no room for negotiation. Book your ticket for next week. I've arranged everything."

"No, I don't want to go back."

Regina took a deep breath, clearly about to explode.

The sliding door opened, and Colton suddenly stepped in.

"Kylie, should your Lego set go in the living room or the bedroom?"

Oh no! Kylie immediately broke into a cold sweat. Sure enough, the phone fell silent for a few seconds, and Regina's voice suddenly rose. "Who is it? Kylie, why is there a man in your room?"
