AVA
I sat on my usual spot in geometry class, I watched the teacher's lips move but I wasn't paying attention to what she was teaching. I stared down at my phone which was in between my book, the message on it very clear.
“Stay away from Xavier, he is not what he seems.”
The words rang again in my ear. Whoever sent this, knew I was with Xavier yesterday and I could swear I never told anyone about my secret. Does it mean I was being watched?, I questioned myself but I couldn't find a perfect answer.
“Ava can you hear me?” I lifted up my head and looked around, someone was calling but where?
“If you can hear me Ava, meet me at the old school building, third floor. And come alone.” The voice said, it's voice laced with command.
If the person has spoken to me through the mind, does it mean that the person is also a wolf, could be Xavier?
I had lots of questions that needed to be answered and there was someone who was willing to explain.
I took deep breaths, and gently stood up.
“Yes, Ava?” The teacher asked.
“Can I use the restroom?”
“Sure.” That was the only answer I needed before I scurried out of the classroom, trying hard not to seem suspicious.
_______________
I stood, staring at the big abandoned school building. There were many stories surrounding the old building but no one knew the exact reason why it was abandoned but I could easily guess that since they have a new building, they had to move there.
I rubbed my sweaty palms against eachother and took the first step, then the second and before I knew it, I was standing inside the building. The smell of old wood and rusted iron filled the air.
I walked up to the third floor as quietly as possible not to make any noise that would alert the security.
I stared around the place, but there was no one there.
“Hello?” I called but it came out as a whisper.
First, I heard heavy footsteps and then the scent hit my nose almost too hard.
Basil.
I've perceived the scent somewhere but I couldn't place my head on where I've scented it.
“Hello Ava.” I tilted my head almost immediately at the sound of the voice and almost lost myself.
Mr. Logan.
He stood tall and handsome with a perfectly sculptured face, he had a huge smile plastered on his face.
“M...Mr Logan.” I whispered and his smile widened.
He began to walk towards me with gentle strides, his gaze only on me.
He sculpted my face into his palm and stared so hard that I could feel my inner self boiling.
“You reek of him.” He left my face and stood properly, his gaze never leaving me.
I really wanted to say something but I could only open my mouth but nothing would come out.
“Ava.” He called and I could only hum a response. “You don't need to be scared of your mate you know?”
I lifted my face to meet his, my eyes popping out from it's socket.
“I knew you were my mate Ava and that was why I came running to you.” his voice low but intimate. “I know you felt it too?”
Why was this man talking so softly to me, why was he so handsome. Yes I felt he was my mate but I couldn't just accept it. I didn't want to accept the fact that I was a fucking werewolf.
I heard him chuckle and I stared at him, my brows twitched.
“You’re really keeping your Alpha waiting Ava.” He called in a very deep husky voice and I was really melting at his words.
“How do I believe you?” I asked, finally finding my voice.
He leaned closer, almost too close that I could feel his breath on me.
“You know it.” he whispered and pulled back, his hands in his pocket.
“You should stay away from Xavier.” He warned, his voice coming out a little bit sharp. “I hate sharing what's mine.”
I wanted to tell him that I was fated to Xavier as well but I don't know much about this man and I can't just go about trusting him.
He walked towards me again, cuppled my chin, “I’ll see you again.” He planted a light kiss on my forehead before disappearing.
I stood still, unable to process what had just happened. My legs moved shakily as I tried to walk, I sat down on the bare floor.
Logan Moon just kissed me. I whispered and touched my forehead, I felt a smile appearing on my face.
______________
School was over and I was searching for Caleb. I didn't come back to class after my encounter with Logan, I had stayed back at the building but when I got out, I realised that school was over and the building was almost empty. I dialed Caleb's line again and he answered.
“Where the hell are you?” I questioned, my voice rising.
“Home.” he answered, almost too casually.
“What do you mean home, Caleb I'm still at school?” I screamed into my phone.
“I texted you and also called but you weren't going through so I left.”
I hung up on the phone and stared at his messages.
I had really missed his messages and now, I'll be walking home, alone.
I walked through the streets, wondering how I had missed his messages and it dawned on me that I had switched off my phone after leaving the class. I sighed and continued walking.
As I curved into the lonely street, I noticed that I was being followed. I hastened my steps but it seems the stranger was on it too.
I began to run, I ran so fast but the stranger was running behind me. I continued to run and didn't see a speeding truck ahead and just as it was about to hit me, I felt myself being lifted off the ground.
I bent down after the stranger had dropped on me, I was trying to catch my breath and when I looked to see who my saviour was, I stood, my mouth parted open. Beads of sweat began to form on my head.
“You really are a fast runner.” He smiled.
Xavier had been the one following me and now he had just saved me. I shifted away from him and he twitched his brows.
“Are you alright?” his voice calm as he spoke.
“Why are you here?” I asked, my voice shaking. I was still trying to breathe properly.
“We need to talk, Ava.”
AVA
I took a sip from my drink as I glared at Xavier. We were sitting at a coffee shop and he has been staring at me for the past five minutes.
“Can you quit with the staring already.” I snarled at him, “It’s getting too much.”
“I could smell his scent from you.” He scoffed.
“Really?” I rolled my eyes, “What’s with you both and scent.
“Can you be more nice to me?” he said, his voice calm.
“Nice, really?” I scoffed. “Who kidnapped me and who followed me secretly?”
He sighed and pulled off his hoodie. He was putting on a black hoodie jacket and a nose mask inorder to protect his face from his crazy face but only if they knew what was hiding behind that handsome face.
“Okay,” He said placing both hands on the table. “I get it, you're mad. It was my mistake and I'm sorry, I was trying to protect you. To let you know that I was your mate.”
“Mate.” I drawled, “I do not want any fucking mate, I do not want any fucking person to control my life, my destiny. It is my decision to do so.” I cried as the tears wailed up in my eyes.
“I’m not controlling your life, Ava.” He slammed his hands on the table, making me to flinch and also gaining lots of stares.
Some group of girls recognized him almost immediately and scurried over to where we sat. As they hovered around him, I used the opportunity and slipped away.
XAVIER
I could have ran after her but I intentionally let her run. I knew it was too harsh for me to have screamed at her, but it wasn't my intention. Isaiah had stirred up inside of me, letting me vent my anger on her.
“Boss?” Noah, Assistant called. I tilted my head towards him as I drank from my wine.
“The rogues have advanced towards the greenfield forest. They would soon enter the center territory.”
“What pack?” I growled.
“The Nightlife pack.”
“Inform Ethan about the rouges, I need to focus on getting my mate back to the pack before Logan gets to her first.” I commanded and he nodded before leaving with a bow.
I sluggishly sat on the couch and palmed my face.
Being an Alpha hasn't been easy, after dad's passing away, I was handed the authority as the next Alpha of the Blackwood pack but I wasn't going to be Alpha for a long time if I don't find my mate or else the title would be given to another family.
I've always lived my life as a simple wolf boy, I never expected the days to run by quickly and I would become a man and lead a whole pack. Indeed with great power comes great responsibility. I had the responsibility of taking care of the entire Blackwood pack.
I let out a little sigh. I need to make things right with Ava. I do not need her to get scared of her Alpha, at least not now, I really need her to properly claim my throne as the Alpha.

AVA
“Ava.” I stood up from my bed with a start.
“Who is it?” I replied back.
“It’s Xavier.”
I gasped and then rolled my eyes.
“What is it?”
“I’m sorry Ava.” He apologised calmly.
“What do you want exactly?”
“You, Ava. I want you.”
I felt my cheeks heat up.
No, Ava. You are mad at him and you shouldn't be smiling at what he just said. Logan wants you, Xavier wants you, everybody wants you Ava Reed.
“I hate my life right now.”
“Are you okay?” he asked making me realize I just said that out loud.
“Can you just get out of my head, I really need my peace.” I huffed out.
“Okay, I leave you be. I'll wait for you.” His voice laced with bitterness.
I slumped back on my bed, I was really getting tired from all this. I wanted to take to mom. I slipped into my slippers and walked to her room. I gently opened her door and found her deep asleep. I walked in and sat beside her.
“Mom?” I began, “I’m sorry I came back home late yesterday, I'm sorry I've been hiding a whole lot from you mom. I just want all this to be a dream and when I finally wake up, our lives will just be the way it has always been. Just you and me.” I sniffed in tears and continued.
“I don't want a life where, I'll be a wide dog and I'll be told what to do. I just want to live a normal teenage life mom, I'm tired. I just want to be Ava Reed, the weird Californian girl who has a single mother and is best friends with the most handsome boy in school.” I smiled as I remembered all the memories I have with mom and Caleb, I miss those times. I stood up and covered mom properly, I leaned in and gave her a soft forehead kiss and left, back to my room.

I stretched lazily as I stood up from the bed. I walked lazily to the bathroom but something made me stop halfway. My legs shaked heavily and the hairs on my skin stood up. I walked towards the mirror.
I let out a loud shriek as I saw what was staring directly at me.
I had long teeths, no, fangs. I had grown fangs. I raised my hand up to my mouth and felt it. My teeth were now sharp. Suddenly, I felt my ears begin to twitch and when I looked up, they were long and hairy. I stood still, my chest rising and falling heavily at the same time, I could hear the sound of my heartbeat.
“Mom.” I called out but it came out almost like a whisper.
I stared down at my hands and they were long. I had fangs, long hairy ears and now long nails.
Oh no, this can't be good.
“Now that's your wolf coming out.” I heard and shrieked loudly calling out to my mom.
She barged in immediately and stood still as she saw who was standing Infront of her. Her eyes wide like it was about to pop out.
“Mom.” I whispered.
