Killian

I'm disappointed.

She didn't recognize me. My eyes,my touch ,not even my voice,or my cologne.

I leaned back on my desk,looking at the grey ceiling and fighting the urge to break another vase. She has completely forgotten about me.

It's been eight years and I'm still obsessed with her. I still want her so badly,still watching her every damn day.

She made me a stalker and she only discovered four days ago that I had been stalking her when I'd been at it for eight years.

I lifted my fingers to my eyes. The feel of her skin on my fingers still lingered. I want more,I want all of her. I've watched from a far for too long.

I see it in her eyes,she's terrified of me and it thrills me.

I'm obsessed with her.

How the fuck is this going to work?

A knock on my door jolted me out of my thoughts and the door creaked open.

Scarlett,my assistant, walked in."Good evening sir. The interns schedule for 6pm at St. Nova have arrived. The vice president is waiting for you to begin the tour ."

I smirked. " I'll be there in thirty minutes."

St.Nova would be mine soon and so would its employees including her. I'm buying the entire hospital since my plan to get her here as an intern failed.

St Nova was twenty minutes away from my lounge. I just came here to cool off before my surgery scheduled to start by 9pm.

Twenty minutes later,I walked into the building. A cigarette in my mouth,collars flying and both hands tucked into my pocket.

" Forgive me sir but this is a hospital. You have to stop smoking ." Scarlett whispered by my side as we got into the waiting room.

I ignored her,slipped the cigarette in-between my fingers and puffed out a smoke.

The intern nurses were already lined up in the waiting area,wearing purple scrubs with hair pulled back in tight buns.All of them except one. She had her hair in a loose pony tail with several strands falling over her face and the rest cascading down her back.

"Killian, these are our new interns." The vice president started and I let my eyes run over the twenty four of them,stopping at her.

My gaze lowered to her chest. The memories of this morning,how her breast felt on my fingers and how fucking aroused I was.

The heating came rushing back, filling my veins with dopamine. Fuck! I'm hard. I adjusted my pants to make the bulge less noticeable.

This is fucking embarrassing.

Our eyes met ,hers were irritated as she glanced at the cigarette in my mouth.

I smiled at her and she frowned,turning her eyes away.

She still doesn't recognise me.

The vice president led the tour ,and introduced them to the patients.

" I need two nurses in the operating room , Miss Raven and another person. Tell them to prepare the patient for surgery." I told Scarlett as I dumped the cigarette in a trash can and strolled to my office to get changed.

" Umm...whose Raven?" Scarlett asked, scurrying over to me.

" Check their profiles." That was the last thing I said before shutting the door.

An hour later I was in the operating room,my eyes never leaving her as she moved about ,preparing for the surgery.

She had noticed me staring a few times but looked away immediately. She's diligent and focused,I liked that.

I leaned in on the surgical table,enjoying the view untill she stepped up to me.

" Excuse me...you shouldn't touch a sterile field." She spoke,her voice firm and professional." Now I have to disinfect it all over again."

I looked down and noticed that I had my hands on the mayo tray." I'm wearing gloves." I raised a brow.

" It doesn't matter ... It's the same way you don't smoke in a hospital." She snapped ,her lips twitching.

So That's it -the smoke pisses her off." My bad..." I removed my hands from the tray.

She turned to leave but I called her back. " Get a skin antiseptic, chlorhexidine to be precise and get to work."

Her jaw twitched but She returned a moment later with the bottle of antiseptic. I watched as she struggled to open it ,she was actually doing it wrongly.

" Stop pressing the bottle. It's dangerous,it could burst " I stated.

" I know." She hissed but didn't stop pressing it. She pulled the cover forcefully and it burst open,the fluid spilling out like a fountain and splattering on her face.

Fuck,she wasn't wearing goggles.

Her piercing scream filled the room as she collapsed to the floor,the bottle rolling to one side.

I cursed as I rushed towards her." someone get water." I yelled at the staff.

Her face had turned red ,blistering in patches.

She sobbed, clutching at my arms" I can't open my eyes.....i can't see." She was trembling violently.

" Relax ....you'll be fine. Keep your eyes closed till I rinse it off ." I picked her up and carried her out of the operating room.

I sent for an opthamologist immediately as I placed her on the bed in my private room. I helped her rinse the liquid off and dried her face.

" Can you open your eyes now?"

She tired but a wail escaped her lips instead." I can't...it burns."

The opthalmologist arrived just then and I gave way for him to do his job. I'm a cardiologist not a fucking eye doctor.

" I have to rinse with sterile water ma'am ,so try to ope your eyes a little." he said.

She winced as he flushed her eyes.

" Open up and tell me if you can see."

She blinked rapidly, slowly opening her eyelids,then another sob escaped her lips." I can't...it's all blurry."

I cursed underneath my breath. I should have taken the bottle from her when I had the chance.

The eye doctor turned to face me." I have to conduct tests and see if her cornea has been damaged."

I nodded and they left for the test. I stayed the whole time and at some point I pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. Cigarette had become my crutch over the years.

The opthalmologist finished the test and came to give me a report He sighed heavily." She can't see a thing....her vision is very blurred. I'm putting her on a four months medication,if nothing changes then......."

I furrowed my brows." What do you mean four months?"

He handed me the test results." She's temporarily blind and I'm putting her on this four months medication to see if we can get her sight back.... hopefully it works."

I scoffed and slipped past him. She was crying when I unscreened the bed.He must have told her.She had her eyes opened,staring at nothing in particular.

I called Scarlett immediately." Get another doctor to perform the surgery."

" But sir....." I hung up before she could continue.

I helped Raven up from the bed but she slapped my hands off." You're smoking!" She sniffed,droplets of tears staining her blistered skin.

I chuckled." Apologies...." Then I tossed the cigarette in a nearby trash can.

" Where are you taking me?" She inquired as I led her slowly through the hall way.

" Away from here. You can't see ....you have to rest."

She let out a Shaky breath." I left my phone in the nurses room,locker 015. It has a blue pouch, I need to call my husband. He'll pick me up and take me home."

I stopped walking,gritting my teeth in irritation. I'd be damned if I let Viktor take her. I've put in too much effort to getting her here,I'm not letting it go down the drain.

" Wait here "

I went into the nurses room,got her phone and dialed the number. My number actually,then I watched my phone ring loud enough for her to hear.

"Why isn't he picking up?" She whined.

" He's probably busy." I grabbed her hand again and took her to the garage then helped her into the car.

" Where are you taking me?" she asked as I started the ignition.

" You stay at the dormitory with the other interns right ?" I asked,like I didn't already know.

She stammered."Yeah...but call my husband again. I can't stay alone if I can't see a thing."

My lips twitched at the mention of ' husband'." You won't be alone ."

I stepped on the gas and in about half an hour ,we arrived at my place.I carried her inside and dropped her gently on the couch.

I noticed how her muscle tensed." Umm...excuse me sir.I might be blind temporarily but my senses are still intact. This is not my dorm room,this place reeks of cigarette."

I poured myself a drink and gulped down the liquid before speaking." No It's not your dorm...."

She jumped to her feet." You said you would take me to my dorm!" She jeered,her tone clipped.

" I didn't say that."

She took a step forward in the direction opposite me,facing the window. She really can't see." Excuse me? I thought you were going to help me ,not bring me here against my will. I need you to call my husband....right now!"

My fingers tightened around the phone." You're husband?" I scoffed,letting the anger get the best of me. " Let's call him then."

I dialed Viktor's number without a second thought and tossed it towards her. It was by sheer luck that she caught the phone.

The phone kept ringing but no answer. It went on for another two minutes then she began to panic. She called again and after the third ring,he finally picked up but a woman's voice echoed through the phone.

She tensed,her fingers trembling around the device.

I snickered...I guess she's about to find out what kind of man Viktor was.

Raven

" Holly?" My chest tightened.

" Oh her,Raven." She answered ,giving me a small laugh.

I stuttered as various thoughts ran through my head." Why the hell are you answering my husband's phone?"

" Oh ..he's in the bathroom,I saw your name and thought to pick it up !" her tone was disgustingly casual.

I clenched my fists so tight until my nails dug into my skin.

I heard the sound of the bathroom door opening and Viktor's voice" Babe who's that?"

My stomach twisted violently as silence lingered on the other end of the phone and then Viktor spoke." Uhh...Rave?"

"Babe?" A bitter laugh escaped my throat as pain shot through my heart. He called her babe ,she's at my house again." What's Holly doing there?"

" Oh...Maya caught a cold so she came over to watch over her." He phrased.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I want to believe what he says but I can't." A cold?"

" Yeah,you're not here, you look after her so Holly filled in." He explained."It's not a big deal right ?"

My legs gave out and I collapsed on the couch." There's a reason we have a nanny ,Viktor. You promised me that she only comes on Fridays." My voice broke at the last word because at this rate,I don't know what to feel anymore.

It's not even up to a day yet and she's already back. Even after he promised me.

Viktor sighed heavily." I sent Julie away for a break....look don't get mad about this, Rave..."

Anger was sipping into my veins little by little." "You sent the nanny away and brought your ex? Are you out of your fucking mind, Viktor?"I yelled.

He snapped back at me." What do you expect me to do?....you are not here, Rave. Someone has to look over our daughters."

My emotions overwhelmed me and a sob broke out of my lips."I got into an accident ,Viktor. I'm blind , temporarily."

Silence

More silence .

" You're what ?"

I sniffed,as tears flowed down my cheeks." I can't see .....I need you to come pick me up and take me home."

He scoffed." "You're blind? Then how the hell will you take care of our kids?Thank goodness I trusted my guts and brought Holly over."

I froze at his statement , unable to believe that he just said that to me." Viktor....."

He continued,his voice sounding nonchalant."You are at the hospital ,right? Get yourself treated ,tell me if you need more money for it. It's not going to be easy taking care of a blind person along with the twins so get a drug or something to cure your blindness ."

My hands trembled at his words,I blinked rapidly to prevent the tears from falling." Viktor you...."

The phone was snatched from me the next moment and I heard the beep sound as the line died.

" Have some dignity." Killian snapped.

I sprang to my feet. I can't tell where he was but I knew he was standing close to me." I was speaking to my husband." I shouted.

He chuckled." yeah right....sounds to me like you're bothering me."

I reached forward trying to see if I could get a hold of him. " You have no right to end the call....give me back my phone!"

I stepped forward,trying to use my sense of hearing to detect his exact location but I heard nothing over the loud pounding of my heart.

" The fucker clearly just dumped you....what more humiliation do you want? He's with another woman, isn't he?" His voice came from the right and I turned in the direction it came.

His words hit me like a boulder but I refused to accept the fact." He ....he didn't dump me." My voice broke at the last word.

Killian kept talking. "He wasn't concerned enough to be bothered when you told him you were blind. If he loved you,then he would have come running down immediately. You wouldn't even have to tell him to come pick you up."

My lips quivered as his words hit." He...he loves me." I whispered , like saying it could make it true.

Killian snorted." Yet he's with another woman."

I gasped for breath as my chest tightened violently. I know what I've put into our relationship, I know what I've been through over the years.

" Stop!" I screamed.

But he didn't. " Let's face it.....he should have called back by now if he loved you but he's too occupied with another woman."

I fell to my knees as I stared at the darkness before me. Deep down , Killian is speaking the truth but I want to give Viktor the benefit of the doubt.

I want to believe that all this is a joke because it's too much." No ....He loves me....I know he loves me."

I felt him crouch down to my level." Then take the phone,call him back and ask him to come pick you up a second time."

He placed the phone in my palm as it rang. It kept ringing,the tension eating up my flesh. He didn't pick up and I called again but it kept ringing.

Another sob escaped my lips as I let the tears flow freely. I had given all I had to Viktor.

This can't be happening to me.

He can't betray me like this. I stood by him when he had nothing ,I sacrificed all my inheritance so we could rebuild his company and start a family together.

I left my family for him.

Killian placed his hands on my shoulders ,giving it a gentle squeeze." Are you seriously crying over him? What the fuck? Quit it!"

He forced me to my feet,I had my eyes down. I don't even know what to feel.

" You have an internship to finish and your life to focus on." Killing snarled.

My life ?

My family is my life .

" No...I have to see him." I shook my head. I can't just let it go like that ,I at least deserve to know if he finally chose her over me and what we've built together.

I looked up,a new resolve in my eyes." I want you to take me to him.... please." Holly must have done something to him,maybe brainwashed him.

Besides Maya is sick ,she needs me.

" Fuck no...." He snapped.

I reached forward and finally managed to grab a hold of his sleeve." Please...I can't drive in this state but I have to go. I know Viktor ...he'll come back to his senses the moment he sees me. Holly must have done something to him."

He grabbed my elbow and forced me to sit on the couch." Can you hear yourself right now?....I'm not taking you anywhere. You're going to stay here till you come to your senses."

" But ....."

" I said no!" He hissed and I flinched." If he can be so easily swayed by another woman then he was never committed to you.You're acting too desperate. Stay here and ponder on what that man you call a husband just did to you."

And just like that,I heard his footsteps retreating and the door clicked shut.

Raven

"Fuck!" I cursed again,stumbling blindly through the dark. I just wanted to find my way out of here.

After what felt like eternity,my fingers finally brushed the door knob.

" Thank Goodness." I gasped as the door opened and I stepped outside .

Killian can't order me around. I won't sit still while another woman tries to take what's mine.

One way or another , I'll get home to Viktor and see for myself what the fuck Holly is doing in my house.

I can't see a damn thing and it's driving me insane. I don't even know what time it was but judging by how cold it was ,it should be maybe 11pm or 12.

I slipped my hands inside my pockets and brought out my phone. I kept tapping on the screen,praying to God that I hit the right place.

If only I can call Julie to get some help . I kept tapping on the screen,my hands trembling as my eyes watered.

Being blind sucks.

" Umm.... Ma'am are you okay?" I heard a voice say beside me. I was too busy drowning in self pity to hear the footsteps approaching.

"Help me please....I can't see. I'm trying to call someone." I gasped, relief flooding my chest.

" Oh...sure I can help." The lady responded.

" The name is Julie ... .Can you please take me outside?"I asked as I handed the phone to her.

" Yeah....come with me." She grabbed my hands gently and guided me.

The phone started ringing and the lady handed it over to me. I pressed it against my ears as I walked slowly ,careful not to fall.

Julie picked up on the third ring," Hello,Ma'am...."

" Julie, you have to come pick me up right now!" I stuttered. I heard a ding,indicating that we probably entered the elevator.

"Oh.....but it's almost eleven." She replied,her voice sounding like she had just woken up.

I turned to face the nice stranger,not even sure if I was facing the right direction." Can you give me the address of this building, please?"

She replied as she let go of my hand for a brief second and then held it back. "The Whitmore Residences, 1120 Park Avenue."

I repeated the address over the phone and I heard Julie sigh." It's actually late Ma'am. And it's a two hour drive back home,are you sure you want to do this?"

I gritted my teeth." Come pick me up Julie!" I can't breathe knowing Holly is with him.

The cool night breeze hit me as the door opened." Thank you so much."

" You're welcome, make sure to leave soon...it's quite dangerous out here by this time of the night." She stated and I whispered another thank you.

I waited , praying that Killian doesn't show up to stop me.

I waited till my feet began to hurt and soon I heard the roaring of an engine some meters away." Ma'am..." I heard Julie call and I can't help but feel relieved.

I told her about the hospital accident and what Viktor said as she guided me into the car and we hit the road.

" The moment we get home,I want you to be as quiet as possible. I don't want to wake the kids up. " I explained to her as I leaned in on the window.

The drive was long but we got there. Julie had parked the car a block away from my house so the roaring of the engine wouldn't cause too much noise. She led me past the gate and towards the front door.

It was locked but Julie had her own keys so we were able to open it. The living room was quiet at first until I started hearing sounds from upstairs.

" I'll go get Mr Markov." Julie said.

I only nodded as my heart tugged in my chest and pounded violently. The sounds continued,moans echoing all the way from upstairs.

I clenched my fists tightly to stop them from trembling. I wanted to go upstairs,to see what the fuck was causing those sounds even when I already knew.

Some minutes later,the sounds stopped and Julie came back." He's coming downstairs Ma'am."

" What did you see?" I grunted.

" Ma'am,he's coming already ."

" Julie!" I snapped." What did you see?"

" Nothing,I wouldn't dare open the door. I only knocked and they .....he opened it."

"They?" I forced out a breath.

" Yes ma'am,he was with the kid's biological mother."

I was about to ask another question when I heard footsteps rushing down the stairs . " Rave! What are you doing here by this time?"

You know why this hurts even more?

It's because I can't see a damn thing. I can't read his facial expression or see if she's standing beside me.

"What's going on , Viktor?" I said ,trying to mask my emotions.

" What's going on?" He scoffed," I should be asking you that.Shouldn't you be at the hospital or something?"

"This is my home ,you don't have the right to question why I am here!" I sneered.

I felt his presence draw closer and slight movement in front of my face but I couldn't make out the image." How many fingers am I holding up?"

I shook my head." I don't know."

I don't know if I was wrong but the sound that came out from his mouth sounded like a snicker." You have to get yourself treated plus your internship is on the line. This is the third year,you can't let another year go to waste."

My jaw twitched ,he said it like those wasted years were my fault. I worked hard,I spent sleepless nights studying but in the end I failed every entrance exam.

"Where's Holly ?" I asked instead.

" You didn't have to bring Julie back or come here yourself,Maya is being taken care of." He says instead.

I turned to my side."Julie ... .take me upstairs!"

I felt him grip my hand the next second,stopping me from moving." Hey.....stop it.I already told you that Holly is here because Maya's sick."

I slapped his hands off." Julie is here now,so she can leave!"

" Rave...."

I finally snapped." It's either she leaves or I take my kids and leave! Make your choice !"

He turned silent for a couple of seconds."Fine!"

I heard his footsteps leaving and then after a minute he came back with her. Her unfamiliar scent filled my nostrils and I held back the urge to curse at her.

" I apologise, Raven. I only wanted to check up on Maya." Her sly voice rang in my ears.

Fucking bitch ! I know her type and over my dead body will I let her take what's mine." This is the last warning I'm giving you....stay away from my house,my kids and my husband.The next time I won't be this lenient"

She didn't say anything in return but I heard the door shut." Take me to the bedroom, Julie."

I'm not going back to my dorm tonight. Tomorrow I'll decide how I'm going to walk through my internship blind. I'm not wasting another year.

Viktor's voice roared behind me." Are you satisfied now? Throwing a helpless woman out in the middle of the night!"

"Helpless?" I spat. "I'm blind, Viktor! I'm the one helpless,and you're worried about her?"I yelled ,my fingers tightened into fists.

He was quiet at first and I was about to continue walking upstairs when he spoke." I'm sorry."

He came up behind me and held my hand,pushing Julie aside." I should have come to pick you up. I had a lot of things on my mind,the kids ,work ,and then Maya got sick."

I faked a smile as Killian's words rang in my head.'If he loved you,he would have come running down immediately'

He's making excuses again." Yeah...." My voice was a low whisper.

He slide his hands around me from behind." I love you Raven...always."

I was breaking again even though the doubt had been there all along. It's just so hard to accept that Viktor would let Holly come back.

I had witnessed how much she broke him. I had held him when he cried in my arms the day Holly left him with the twins.

I stayed with him,comforted him and healed him. So right now, I just hope I'm not proving Killian right.
