Chapter 2

I checked the time. Eva still had no intention of finishing.

So, I took out my phone and made a video call to my dad.

After calling three times, my dad finally answered, "I'm in a meeting. Why are you calling me on video?"

After my parents divorced, my dad was decent to me. But everything changed after he married Eva.

The saying goes, "With a stepmom comes a stepdad." It was entirely true.

In my past life, I didn't understand. I constantly fought with Eva. When she framed me, I always tried to argue back.

After my tragic death in that life, I was realized.

Fatherly love, the bond between father and daughter, it was all fake. It was disgusting.

Only I was important.

So, I pretended not to notice my dad's impatience. I held up my phone and acted like I had just walked in.

"Dad, Mr. Lewis just told me I've been admitted to Lunelle University!" I said.

As I spoke, I purposely pointed the camera toward the bedroom. The half-open door revealed two frantic figures inside.

"Admitted, huh? That's no big deal. Wait, Scarlett! Where are you? Move the camera to the left."

My dad's annoyed tone suddenly paused. He sounded suspicious as he instructed me.

I pretended to be confused.

"What is it, Dad? To the left is Eva's room. Isn't she sleeping?" I said.

While I spoke, I moved the camera over. I pushed the door open and aimed it directly at Eva and the man.

Eva's clothes were disheveled. The man had only managed to pull on a pair of pants.

They reacted quickly, jumping off the bed and pretending to do yoga on the floor.

The man immediately began instructing Eva on her moves. But his bare chest and well-toned body made the situation in the bedroom all too obvious.

Eva looked guilty and spoke awkwardly, "Scarlett, why didn't you knock? I was just working out with Mr. Garcia!" she said.

"I told her to come in!" said my dad.

His voice carried angry suspicion. He sneered.

"Working out? On the bed?" he said.

Eva realized that my dad was suspicious. She immediately started crying.

"Honey, what are you saying? Did Scarlett talk behind my back again?" she said.

I stayed silent and pointed the camera at the messy bed. My dad's anger became more apparent.

"What did she say? That you brought a man home to do something shameless?

"Eva, you tramp! I knew you weren't trustworthy, but I didn't think you'd be this shameless. Just you wait!"

My dad's voice grew more intense. He finally hung up, saying he would come home.

Eva panicked. She gave Charles a look. He immediately grabbed his clothes and tried to leave.

I deliberately stepped in his way.

"Why are you leaving, Mr. Garcia? Is Eva's yoga session over?"

Charles was handsome. No wonder Eva took a liking to him.

When he heard me, he glanced nervously at Eva.

I sneered internally but kept a curious expression. "Which gym are you from, Mr. Garcia? I'm on break soon and want to start working out," I said.

Charles quickly took out a business card, but Eva shoved him aside.

She glared at me with hostility.

"You brat! You're too young to be thinking about men! If you want one, get your own and leave mine alone!" she said.

"Oh! So Mr. Garcia is your man? I'll be sure to tell Dad when he gets home," I said, satisfied.

I pulled out my phone and looked at the recorded conversation.

Eva's face turned pale.

Chapter 3

After my dad found out about this, I thought he would return in a rage. I thought he would give Eva a harsh punishment.

But to my surprise, when my dad got home, he slapped Eva. Before he could continue, Eva dragged him into the room.

They came out a few hours later.

They had already made up. My dad looked very pleased.

He lowered his head and kissed Eva's flat stomach affectionately. He smiled broadly.

"I knew it! I was destined to have a son! Here he is, just before I turn fifty!" he said.

Huh?

I looked up and met Eva's smug gaze. Memories from my previous life flashed through my mind.

Back then, I had been left in the hospital corridor because no one claimed me or paid my fees.

I happened to see Eva and her lover go to the hospital for an ultrasound. They found out she was three months pregnant.

But three months ago, my dad had been on a business trip. This child was obviously her lover's.

So Eva bribed the doctor to change the pregnancy date to two months. She insisted the child was my dad's.

I didn't know what happened after that.

Now, it seemed that Eva had used the same trick from my previous life to calm my dad's anger.

Thinking of this, I quickly put on a cheerful face.

"Eva's pregnant? Am I going to have a brother? Dad, this is great!" I said.

My dad had always favored boys over girls. He divorced my mom because she was pregnant with another girl. He insisted my mom have an abortion.

My mom angrily filed for divorce. My dad readily agreed but demanded she leave with nothing.

Otherwise, he wouldn't let her see me again.

My mom had to agree for my sake. She worked hard in another city for years and visited me a few times each year.

In my previous life, I was supposed to live with my mom after starting college. But I was killed by Eva.

My dad became even happier when he heard what I said.

"Yes! Eva's already one month pregnant! Don't upset her anymore. Stay at school and don't come home unless necessary," he said.

It was clear that this child had completely distracted my dad. He had forgotten all about being cheated on. He was treating Eva like a treasure again.

I had to congratulate my dad. "Dad, what are you waiting for? Take Eva to the hospital for a check-up!"

"No, no need. I already had a check-up. The baby is fine!" Eva said.

Eva looked guilty. She quickly stopped him.

Seeing Eva's expression, I became even more certain of my suspicions.

"Dad, you shouldn't take this lightly. My brother is so precious. You should take Eva for a proper check-up.

"After the check-up, take Eva to buy some jewelry to keep her happy. That way, my brother will grow up healthier!" I said.

My dad only had eyes for his son. Hearing what I said, he immediately nodded.

"Yes, yes, you're right! My son is the most important!

"Let's go to the hospital right now!" he said.

Chapter 4

"Honey, how about we go another day? Let's book a specialist next time!" Eva said.

I wanted to sneer. I said, "Eva, you seem reluctant to go to the hospital. Is there something wrong with the baby?"

"Nonsense!"

My dad frowned and scolded me immediately, "How could my son have anything wrong? He's definitely healthy!"

"There's nothing wrong with your son. But you're cuckolded!"

My heart was full of mockery. I pretended to be apologetic and said, "Sorry, Dad. I was worried because Eva didn't want to go to the hospital."

I used to disdain acting innocent like this. But now it seems like a good strategy.

Fight Eva with an innocent look!

My dad's face darkened a bit when he heard this. He said firmly, "We must go to the hospital today!"

Eva knew she couldn't avoid it. She gave me a fierce glare. She nervously scrolled through her phone.

I went forward and grabbed her phone. I handed it to my dad with a gentle expression.

"Eva, you shouldn't play on your phone so much while pregnant. It's bad for your eyes," I said.

My dad took Eva straight to the hospital.

He registered her, did a blood test, and had an ultrasound.

The series of tests left Eva's face pale. She tried several excuses to leave, but my dad made her stay.

"We'll leave after the results come out!" he said.

Half an hour later, the nurse finally called, "Is Ms. Clark's family here? The test results are out!"
