Cheating Scumbag, Break Off the Engagement Chapter 1

Shortly before Valentine's Day, my boyfriend, Jack Yoxall, had spent a considerable amount on a custom-made diamond necklace.

However, on the actual day, he presented me only with a bouquet of roses.

As he gave them to me, he casually remarked, "We've been at this a long time, right? Let's dial it back—these roses are all you need."

Late that night, I stumbled upon a post from his secretary, Liz McKibben—she was flaunting that very necklace.

I felt a cold wave inside me, and when I confronted him, he retorted, "She's on her own, felt a bit sorry for her—is that a crime?"

I sarcastically fired back, "Oh, feeling sorry? Maybe you should just hand yourself over!"

——

After my comment, he paused his activity, his expression turning stern and cold as he met my gaze.

"Ginny, what's this about? You're freaking out over a necklace?"

He stood up, pointing towards our bedroom, and continued sharply, "When have I ever forgotten to get you a gift for any holiday?"

"Who do you think has been buying all the perfumes, necklaces, and designer bags you parade around in?"

"Are you seriously melting down over a necklace? Thinking about breaking up?"

"Why can't you be cool like Liz? Do you know how much she'd value these stuff you're wearing? Aren't still you satisfied?"

His voice boomed across the living room. At the mention of Liz, my hands on my thighs tightened involuntarily, a surge of sadness engulfing me.

It was the usual pattern.

Each disagreement invariably returned to that woman.

Clenching my dry lips, I managed a faint smile, "I'm the one who's not cool? I'm not the satisfied one?"

"Jack, am I to blame for Liz McKibben's misfortune? Is it my responsibility to ensure her life is plush?"

My voice grew louder, "Yet here you are, supposedly my boyfriend, who has never spontaneously treated me the way you did her with that necklace!"

"Go ask anyone! Who's being unreasonable, me or you? You've never cared about how I feel!"

After saying this, I stared at him intently, my sense of injustice growing.

I remembered the previous Valentine's Day.

We had meticulously planned to visit South Beach in Drekrand.

Excitedly, I had prepared everything the day before.

But then he abruptly informed me he couldn't make it.

It felt as though a bucket of cold water had been poured over me. I asked him why, my heart sinking.

He replied with impatience, "Something urgent came up at work, can't make it, we'll reschedule."

Hurt and persistent, I pressed on, "What could be so critical on Valentine's Day that it can't wait? Isn't it a day off for everyone? You promised last birthday that we'd go to the beach next time."

"You're always too busy. Can't you carve out just one day for us?"

I grumbled once more, "Mia's boyfriend is even taking her abroad tomorrow."

Hearing this, he scowled, "How long have Mia and her guy been together, huh? You think we're on the same level?"

"And can you stop hassling me about these pointless holidays and your constant need for attention?"

"If you're after gifts, here's my card, splash out—just take it and stop the hassle."

With that, he coldly tossed his black card at me and left without looking back.

Ever since then, he has missed every crucial moment when I needed him the most.

I had thought that this was just the evolution of our long-term relationship, resembling an old married couple.

However, today, I understood that I was mistaken.

His heart had long been captivated by someone else.

Feeling a constriction in my chest, I took a deep breath to calm myself, refocusing on the present.

After hearing my grievances, Jack momentarily looked surprised, and then his expression returned to neutral.

His look was no longer cold, but it didn't matter—he remained indifferent.

We sat in silence until his phone buzzed.

He glanced at it, sighed, and then turned to me.

"Ginny, I'll sort out the necklace for you."

"But let's skip the drama, okay? You know how slammed I am."
