After several days without any response from Alpha Darren, who usually always concedes first, Daniella wrote an apology letter addressed to him, signed by the Alpha, to end their argument. At that moment, Daniella felt so heartbroken, and now, she realized that such a method could still work. If she could persuade Alpha to sign another "apology letter," maybe that would be the way out.
"I will earn recognition as a great healer with my own abilities—I will not depend on you," Daniella declared with a humorously challenging tone. Alpha chuckled, thinking that Daniella was just being stubborn. "Good, that will save me from trouble. But don't cry to me when no one recognizes your talent. You might end up begging for my help just to be introduced as the greatest healer," he teased while lying down and pulling the blanket over his body.
Daniella's lips were tightly sealed, she realized that behind his words, the Alpha harbored a tone of condescension and indifference. In a firm tone, Daniella replied, "I will not beg you. In fact, I want you to sign the consent letter for me."
"Approval letter? What approval letter?" Alpha Darren stood up, took a piece of paper, and carefully read its contents this time, which were as follows:
[From this moment on, Daniella Russell and Darren Owen must maintain strict boundaries. Daniella is fully responsible for her own actions and will not hold anyone or any pack accountable. In any situation, and in any matter, Daniella will not involve anyone. All consequences will be borne by Daniella herself. Signed: Darren Owen.]
While placing the letter and pen in front of him, Daniella tried to calm her trembling hand, which was wet with sweat. "Sign it. You will not be harmed by anything I will do. Isn't it fair?" Alpha squinted his eyes. There is something about Daniella's behavior today that feels strange and somewhat awkward, but not enough to cause him concern.
"Alpha, are you going to break your promise? All this time you have always signed anything I wanted, or are you too afraid to sign it this time? Are you afraid that in the end, you'll have to secretly interfere behind my back?"
Daniella's tone was deliberately provocative, mocking the Alpha's pride. She knew very well that Alpha Darren, with his arrogant masculine nature, would not be able to withstand such mockery. As expected, his expression turned dark. He looked at Daniella coldly and mockingly.
"Do you forget who brought you to Black Shadow? I brought you here, and I am the Alpha here. If I hadn't said you have healing abilities, you would only be looked down upon. With your mediocre abilities, you would still be stuck at Jerremy's house in the countryside, only taking care of the poor villagers if it weren't for me."
Those words pierced Daniella like shards of glass stuck in her throat, painful and impossible to swallow. Daniella gritted her teeth, forcing herself to remain calm even when bombarded with degrading words.
"Then just sign it, Alpha. Let's see if I need your help or not." Daniella's challenging tone finally dispelled the lingering suspicion of the Alpha. With a mocking snort, Alpha replied, "Alright, let's see how far your stubbornness will take you." He grabbed a pen and signed his name with flair. Seeing him finish his signature, Daniella felt a heavy burden lift off her chest. She carefully folded the letter and tucked it into her pocket like a priceless treasure.
"Don't worry, I won't ask for your help," Daniella murmured to herself, this would even be the last time Daniella would seek his approval, meaning everything that was tied to the Alpha was now over for her. Daniella felt grateful because her bond with Alpha Darren would soon end before their union occurred; it was relieving that infidelity happened and Daniella didn't get bruised at all because of her mate's infidelity.
Anyway, being a Luna won't be as enjoyable as people imagine, this bad relationship is not worth maintaining. --- The next morning, Daniella woke up very early. With the approval letter in her hand, she felt a new sense of freedom and tranquility. The happiness of living without a partner and starting a new life made her heart swell with impatience.
As she prepared to go to Jerremy uncle house to be taken by the Alpha, Daniella walked to the Alpha's car as usual, hoping to sit in the passenger seat as she always did.
However, as soon as the window opened, a familiar face greeted him with a satisfied smile. "Daniella, sorry about this. I'm motion sick and can only sit in the front," said Camilla, pretending not to know, her tone playful. And Daniella froze for a moment.
She knew Camilla wasn't car sick at all—she had been in the same car with that wolf woman many times. The truth is, Daniella herself often struggles with motion sickness, which is why she always sits in the front seat. But today, Camilla has taken her place, as if deliberately claiming her territory.
Since Camilla appeared, the passenger seat of the car has never belonged to Daniella again. Until, with an increasingly impatient tone, Alpha Darren's voice broke the silence between the three of them. "Do you want to get in or not? If not, just take a taxi; don't take too long."
Daniella silently released her grip on the car door and took two steps back. "You all go ahead," she said. "I remember there's something left in the house." Daniella turned and walked away, her steps deliberate. Only after the roar of the Alpha's luxury car engine faded into the distance did Daniella turn around.
The parking lot was empty, only dust swirling around and two silent tears falling from her eyes. Upon Daniella's arrival at Uncle Jeremy's house, the uncle did not miss asking about her condition. "Daniella, how is your leg? Has it healed? You shouldn't have come here in a wounded state like yesterday."
"Alpha Darren really has no heart, does he? He didn't let you rest for just a few days?" Zane walked out of Uncle Jerremy's house with a book in her hand. Bennedict was also there, and as Daniella's friend, they felt disappointed with the Alpha's behavior towards his future Luna. Maybe they also realized that something was wrong with Daniella and Alpha Darren's relationship.
Daniella just smiled, responding kindly to their concerns. It seems they all need to stop worrying about the Alpha's attitude towards Daniella, because the Alpha has chosen Camilla, and all ties with Daniella have ended. Without thinking twice, Daniella immediately asked Uncle Jerremy to talk privately inside the house.
When Daniella handed over the agreement signed by Alpha Darren, Uncle Jerremy didn't ask anything further and signed in the place where the distributor was supposed to sign. "Alright, everyone has signed. Your departure must be prepared immediately. I just hope you're okay over there." Daniella nodded, her heart finally feeling lighter even though the thought of what it would be like if she stayed there with the shadow of Alpha Darren haunting her lingered.
After leaving Uncle Jerremy's house, Daniella immediately returned home to pack. Three years with Alpha Darren didn't give her many belongings. Only a few things could Daniella take, and the small suitcase she packed was barely filled, containing only a few thin clothes.
"Daniella, why did you come home so early today?" As Daniella placed her suitcase near the living room door, she heard the sound of the door opening. It was Alpha Darren and Camilla, Camilla carrying several shopping bags that Daniella was sure Alpha Darren must have bought for her.
"Daniella, I didn't expect you to come home early. I forgot to buy some gifts for you too," said Camilla, smiling apologetically. Alpha Darren, who was standing next to her, looked a bit awkward. He cleared his throat before speaking.
"Daniella, the season has changed. Let's go shopping tomorrow and buy some new clothes for you too." Daniella smiled and politely declined. She has to leave the next day. She couldn't let trivial matters like that delay her opportunity to leave.
"No need," she said.
"As long as you both are happy, don't worry about me." Her refusal made Alpha frown, and he snorted in annoyance. He decided that from now on, he would ignore Daniella until she crawled back to him, begging for forgiveness. However, he did not realize that this was exactly what Daniella wanted.
Even the next day, when the meeting of the Black Shadow members was held and Daniella attended the meeting, not a single word was spoken to the Alpha, and this did not escape the attention of Beta Collin and Gamma Jack.
In the evening, Zane, who is the healer in the Black Shadow pack, approached Alpha Darren. "Alpha, do you know what happened to Daniella? She hasn't come to Uncle Jeremy's house all day. Have you heard the news? Even though Daniella never misses going there, even when she is busy with other things."
Alpha Darren, who was on the phone with Camilla, felt annoyed by the interruption. He waved his hand dismissively at Zane.
"She is really capable of taking care of herself. Where she went, I don't know. She doesn't like me controlling her, so I can't do anything." Every time Alpha talks about Daniella, his tone becomes sharper and higher. He clenched his teeth, boiling with anger. Last night, Daniella dared to ignore him, not a single word from her all night.
"Alright, Alpha Darren. But don't you think it would be better if you called Daniella? Try to contact her and ask about her whereabouts," suggested Zane.
